I still wonder why anybody should use any Yoruba city except lagos which former FCT, to compare any SE city more especially Onitsha. Below is the 'hell' and stone age era called ibadan. it is the CBD of ibadan..that is the finest place in Yoruba land.

ketoprofen: like i said, u cant tell me about onitsha. u see those fictitious stories u made up , multiply it by 10, thats wat u get in the Sw.

are u for real/ OR ARE U CONFUSED WHEN U ASKED ME THE LOCATION OF THE MUD HOUSES AND RED ZINCS IN IBADAN? HABA, NA SO YOUR PATRIOTISM REACH?
grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

SW villages as Ibadam, Abeokuta, Oshogbo, Akure, Ekiti must be in deep shyte holes. Those places most be no go areas. Yorubas are still in stone age.

Chima_Adeoye: Ok, i can now imagine where you took the pictures. Thus, the road under reconstruction is perhaps Uga road. I was wondering, because it didn't look like Oguta road, close to the fly over you showed.

Ok, now you should take pictures of the Onitsha stock exchange and ICT park. Also, the former ABS site on park road GRA being demolished for Shoprite mall. If you can, show us shots of Awka road,Limca road, the new flyover at Nkpor new parts and the inter change on Onitsha-owerri road.Show us the roads done around GRA Onitsha,Oraifite and Ezeiweka roads in Awada. Also, roads and buildings Gov.Peter Obi have done inside Onitsha.I heard he is working on a Convention Center, an Onitsha 5 star Hotel and a new housing layout. Please show us these things if it is true and give us your opinion if they have been abandoned or there is a sign of seriousness they'll be completed. Thanks in advance for your contribution.
I will do that once I finish what am doing. The Onitsha Hotel and Convention Center has reached around 8 storey to be commission around November. The contractors for the Shoprite Mall has hit the ground running, to make sure that both the hotel and the mall are commissioned at same time. As for roads, there are too many roads undergoing reconstruction. Including Iweka road via Ochanja down to main market. Ezeiweka and Awada areas are witnessing positive changes with huge drainage system. Am beginning to see from political lenses why Obi has taken on so many strategic projects at the eve of the election. But my concern is that he is poised to completing and commissioning the projects before he leaves.
PoliticsRe: Awka: Struggling To Assume Status Of Capital City by VAQAXY:
Chima_Adeoye: Apart from the first picture that is the Upper Iweka flyover, the rest of the pics appear like a photo of Aba. I know both cities very well,so it will be hard to fool someone like me. The road with green and white dividers look like Asa road in Aba.Besides, from the Nkpor junction to Niger Bridge-Head have all 3 or 4 storey building. In the picture, its all one storey buildings.
Whoever took this picture was a serious photography amateur or is deliberately trying to fool people on NL.
Ofcource I cannot take pictures of elsewhere particularly Aba to show as Onitsha. Onitsha is alot finer, organized, clean and sophisticated than Aba.
Let me explain the pictures:
The first one is Upper Iweka flyover under going reconstruction. The rest particularly the one with green paints is very close to Ikemba statue at Headbridge, the green paint was applied last year when GEJ came to Onitsha. It was only applied at the portion of Ojukwu statue. They are doing the final re-laying of ashphalt before they will apply road markings.
am in Onitsha now I took the pictures myself. I will snap more pix of the city tomorrow.

ketoprofen: My dear, Onitsha ia a lot finer and looks better of a city than ibadan. btw, dont tell me abt the ibadan i know. its too poor for a capital. ilike the way we are comparing a non capital that was in ashes after the war with Ibadan that has been a capital of how many years. impressive.

the agbero business of Sw is a bubbling one, so dont even start telling me abt insecurity anything in onitsha. onitsha bubbles till 12 midnight, so carry your lies to your relatives that have not stayed in onitsha, dewscribing onitsha and Ibadan to me is like taking coal to Newcastle. at ibadan, where do i start? wait, is it poverty that is keeping those mud houses and those others in various stages of dilapidation? OMG! I WAS SHOCKED THAT PLACE COULD PASS FOR A CAPITAL JOOR. Didnt u see the high brow private buildings in onitsha?

your peeps are really poor. if the houses in the capital are like that, who knows what those in your villages are like. Its definitely not going to be like igboland where the finest houses are in the villages
You guys are heartless..

The Yoruba boy is already bleeding from the nose and anu.s and you are still hitting him with rod. Is he the reason why Ibadan is huge slum and inhabitable? grin grin

I have not been to ibadan because of area boys system of Yorubas..but from the explanations and pictures shown here about ibadam, it must be a the worst settlement of the stone age era. Poor Yorubas.. cheesy cheesy

Ola Johnson: It is on record, you may check, that the most urbanized ethnic group in Africa is between Yoruba in West Africa and Swahili in East Africa. That is why you will hardly hear a Yoruba man going to his home town say he is going to his village. But the Igbo will always say they are going to their villages.
grin grin Is this stone age slum what you call 'urbanization'. You must be on cheap weed. Imagine this is biggest slum settlement called IBADAN that you yourobas sold to the world as the largest city in Africa.

This is the same way you people claim to be more educated, but when merit is applied Igbos will always trounce you backward people. Yorubas are really trailing the Hausa fulani in all indices of development.

FSU: Awka has improved significantly from almost a sprawling village pre-1999 to a growing city. Has it gotten there yet? No, but we appreciate the growth trajectory.

In contrast, Lagos has been there since 1960 and before, yet it is the dirtiest, most unlivable place on planet earth, as ranked by unbiased non-Nigerians.
Thump up..
