Being factual, our internet speeds are top already. We have the fastest internet speeds in Africa in the fixed connection segment and one of the fastest in Africa in the non-fixed connections!
Ghana currently have it like this.

Download 9.83 Mbps
Upload 5.71 Mbps

Google fiber has speeds of up to I gigabit per second(1000mbs/s).That's dangerously fast!
Yes, as a transit medium, we do everything from 100Mbps to 100Gbps regularly. I’ve heard of people starting 200Gbps and i am expecting to see 400Gbps within in a few years and 1Tbps before I die. LOL

That's it bro,it's just like football. The best way to defend is to attack. So if you attack and handle more of the possession, your opponent hardly gives your defends pressure or if even you attack and score 7 goals and concede 3 goals,it's better than winning 1 nil and defending throughout. They are IG-NO-RATS,LOLZZ
With Ghana registering a continual growth, it is also becoming a potential destination for investors from world over. ....

The best way to service debt is to grow your economy. The rate at which Ghana economy is growing indicates the debt to GDP ratio is nothing to be worried about.

In monster speeds internet, fiber is superior to satellites unless satellite technology has advanced that quick!

Yeah,it depends with the purpose!
There is no way satellite will be better than fiber optic unless economic decision is a factor. bandwidth, speed and scarcity are all what gives fiber optic the best option to consider.

The distance from Earth to the satellite and back creates delays which make real-time communication more difficult than by fibre. i know of a company called O3b who has tackled this by introducing MEO satellites which are closer to the Earth and so have lower latency, but they still require more complex antennae.

Satellites would do them justice.Rwanda isn't that big! But fiber optics edges all!
Rwanda is even a landlocked country. so there is no information kept under the bottom of the ocean that must used fiber optic to retrieved.

it is good for them.

It's nice having a healthy mixture of all.Communication masts, satellites, fiber optics and add internet balloons if you want too! It's like dating, try all the shapes and sizes-Don't just stick to one,as they say 'Variety is the spice of life'
good. but that will depends on the country pocket. economy impact is also very vital.

Large communicatuons satellites also cost huge amounts of money but they can deliver coverage over wide areas pretty much irrespective of geography. Their biggest issue when compared to fibre is that they have a very limited bandwidth in comparison.

The idea is to transfer knolwledge across the whole nation, i think satellite for now is ok for ruwanda educational system till they can raised more funds to support other technology. Not doing any of them at all is the most backward decision any nation can decide for now.

Internet balloons are good in enhancing the network strength but this can happen!

They seldom fall down though but it's much cheaper than satellites! vaxx
impressive. those this technology support 1 terabyte of data to pass via it. i am aware satileite doesn't support up to that.

It's a turd expensive laying out Fiber to each corner of the country, but we are doing it anyways. We will build an ICT innovation hub in each county to provide a platform where innovators and techprenuers can get help in actualizing their startup ideas!

We are also partnering google through the 40% state owned communication firm Telkom Kenya to increase the network coverage of the whole country through internet balloons!
IT is the next big deal, it will eliminate the purpose of building many mortal blocks and save a lot of cost that comes with physical location.

A nation that is IT savy can connects and educate all her citizen's without much hassle. . IT' is huge and it’s growing.

what Rwanda did indicate more opportunities and growths even for those who are old or consider themselves a complete illiterate in their country. they are about to build a very productive society.

Good initiative from the Rwandans. I've just read of it.They say that a fiber network would have been a lot more expensive that explains why they opted for satellite technology. In Kenya we are on a fiber craze,I guess different things work best for different countries!`

That a boost to their ICT sector.Kigali has been really upping it's game seeking to dislodge Kenya as the ICT Kingpin in East and Central Africa,I'm afraid they will have to do more!
This is a good decision making for a progressive country like ruwanda.

i wish Ghana can emulate this idea. so many schools in the village need to be connected to the cyber space. they also deserve quality teaching and excellent education.

Thumps up Rwanda....

""Rwanda launched the first ever Satellite in its skies to connect schools with internet across the remote parts of the country.

At exactly 23:37 (local time), Rwandans waited with excitement as the Satellite was launched live on state broadcaster – Rwanda Television.

We are definitely looking forward to the launch of other satellites soon.
The Satellites would add to the already existing knowledge-based economy on improving decision making in sectors such as Telecommunication, Agriculture, Navigation, National security, Disaster and several other domains that it could contribute to on a larger scale.""

i just love this.........

Alata means pepper seller in yoruba because they loved too much pepper and when they were in hundreds of thousands in Ghana in the 60s,they mostly traded in pepper business and for the Anagos that is what the yorubas were formally called buh we now use both the Alata and Anago to refer to all Nigerians
And not only that,Ghana is home to third generation Nigerians which have completely assimilated into the mainstream citizenship of the country.

Descendants of Captain Glover 600 Hausa soldiers that was deployed to the then Gold Coast formed the Gold Coast Constabulary, which is of today’s Ghana Armed Forces and police service.

Most of them married in Ghana after disbandment and have been finely assimilated into the country. so many New generation Nigerians are not aware of this and care less about it. they think can just destroy the real relationship of the main anagos and alatas with their ghanian host. .

And kenyan and ghanasians have the gut to talk
in terms of access to electricity, Ghana today ranks highest with South Africa with over 80 per cent penetration of electricity in the whole Africa . Even the list remote village of Ghana has a presence of light

24hrs of electricity in Ghana is normal, if it is miracle in borno state of Nigeria. .

Interesting. But how did the elites acquire wealth if not thro corruption. Rawling was like your french revolution. Kenya eventually will need it unless the elites manages the widening gap by investing aggressively on social programs. But Nigeria is over-ripe for a revolution - it just need 3yrs of Oil prices dropping to 40 dollars a barrel - and the bloodbath will start -
Rawlings revolution dismantled the democratic Goverment that was growing by the elites.Rawling coup accounted for lack of any foreign direct investment in the 1980s and 1990s sending Ghana to Fifty years backward.

what he brought is cuban style style revolution not that of french. he set up PDCs, WDCs cadres, CRDs, vetting committees, and all crap. That was the democracy he brought. if not for GW Bush and the IMF, Ghana would never have seen democracy while Jerry Rawlings is still alive.

The biggest problem is the people from the north of nigeria are illiterate. The people form southwest south south and eastern part of nigeria are educated illiterate. Like a lot of my brothers from southwest they are lazy they just want the government to give them things for free. So you can see the country cannot move forward. I wonder how a president is going to perform when only 20% of the registered voters voted for him and 9% of the population of nigeria voted for him.
At least, the just concluded election gave a clear evidence that Nigeria Goverment are not democratically matured.

This is a force regime change.

I believe that there is something very very wrong in the voters registration just listen to my point the last election in nigeria we had 40 million registered voters 22 million went to vote. Which is equivalent to about 41% voted. In this year's election 35 million new registered voters making the total number of voters to 75 million + but only 25 million people when to vote which is 30%. Please how can 35 million new voters go and register then to not make any effort to vote does it make sense. You have people which are registering to vote on a daily basis but the people going to vote and reducing. Something is not just right. I believe a lot of the people which are voting their results are disappearing. Please ghanaian if you have a school dead people come and register for the school and pay school fees. Please ghanaian if you find out 70% of the people are not coming to school is it possible.
Nigeria electoral commission need a total revamping and likewise citizens must be politically educated. it should be beyound free rice and cooking oil.

But the North who people call iliterate but voted en - masse are literate? Clown. grin
olodo. you can't even read and understand. That is just one of the main important reasons. swallow the bitter truth.

well, it has becime evident and clear that the powerlessness faced by the common Nigerian begins and ends with voters’ turnout at the poll, which strips him of his most basic democratic right. Poor voters’ turnout also suggests that the power duopoly enjoyed by the PDP and the APC is invalid, as majority of the people were denied true popular sovereignty by circumstances far beyond their control. so when i likening Nigeria with somalia. i am actually passing out undeniable fact.

You need a revolution to change your country trajectory like Ghana did with Rawling. In Kenya we had our revolution in 2002 when said enough was enough with dictatorship and 1% growth.Nigeria are emigrating never to come back. That compounds the problem. You need to fight for the Nigeria you want. You guys don't even vote.
what you called a revolution was indeed an armed robbery to many elites Ghanaian.

Some prominent Ghanaian elites says, it set Ghana to fifity years backward. it was indeed terrible.

Currently watching the analytical report of Nigeria election.

The low turn out is a sign of aparthy and a logical message that Nigerians can't trust the political structure of the country. This is serious, another Somalia in the making.

Nigerians are now thinking, a WHOLE lot of peeps do not trust the process. Average Nigerians are now using their brains, and thinking for themselves. Another Somalia in the making? Isn't that extreme? I think there is gradual movement from zombies to functioning entities, religion is like opium to the masses, there has been a slow and gradual enlightenment among the people, most people are seeing the light and the changes are glaring, it's a gradual process.
i don't really get your point here but it sound as if you are saying religion was the reasons behind the low turn out since many are now emancipated . if that is the case. i disagree with your veiw.

Lies. It is because many have relocated across the Nation away from the place they registered to vote.
i hate when people are not saying the truth. we all know the reasons for the low turnout. it is purely base on low literacy rates and lack of education. Nigeria has an average literacy rate of fifty-nine point six percent, which mirrors the average voter turnout of fifty-one point nine percent, calculated from the last fifteen senatorial, presidential, and other parliamentary elections. With a shocking forty-three point six percent voters’ turnout estimated by INEC as of the last presidential election, it is undebatable that Nigeria lacks the representation characteristic of legitimate democracy.
