Danielnino00: Doesn't matter who is affiliating who..They are affiliated with each other! NO, it matter. adeyemi affliating OAU is diffrent from OAU affliating adeyemi. one is under a supervision and monitoring. Allover is paying knust and not knust paying allover. And mind you the cut off mark for UTME is 120! Most polytechnics put theirs at 150.. I doubt if a private polytechnic will put 150.. Private polytechnic are rarely sort after..so its probably 120 The cut of mark for Nigeria uni is 180 , that colledge of education is 120 while polytechnic is 150 . no Nigeria polytechnic will go below the cut of point unless it is ready to loose accreditation.. Just admit it, the fear of jamb is what's making many Nigerians school in Ghana! The private universities in Nigeria are better than the ones in Ghana (prove me wrong!) and some are even cheaper! Not entirely true, they are many good private uni in Ghana. i realised Nigeria student in those school are very few. The school populated by Nigerians are the very few school in Ghana still struggling. those school has less than 2 percent population of Ghanaian student |

Jonraid: Nigerians have a fetish for GDP! There's a new angle of thought in economics known as 'GDP FETISHISM'
Nigerians wankk of their GDP.Joseph Stiglitz, the Columbia University economist (a Nobel Prize laureate who once taught at the University of Nairobi), calls it GDP fetishism (probably for a lack of better word). Be wary of GDP fetishists.
Whilst many Nigerians will come to Kenya for a myriad of reasons, very very little to no Kenyan would head to Nigeria simply because that GDP isn't anywhere to be seen on the ground or the place isn't the 'real deal'.The country has the largest population of poor people, that big GDP is silent on this. The average Egyptian is richer than the average Nigerian, that's a fact.Ghana is more livable that Nigeria, this is another fact!
They will throw their ' BIG GDP' when the arguments turn murkier on their side! As Ally-Khan Satchu an economist based in Nairobi said,''We don't eat GDP'
Be wary of the GDP fetishists!
https://www.econlib.org/library/Columns/y2010/HendersonGDP.html The population of Nigeria in Ghana is a testament to this truth. |

obaaderemi: Your stupid illiterate brother fax-whatever said America get its technology from Germany and that South Korea get its technology from China. Since then he has been having a tough time explaining what he means. The fool believes the beerparlour narrative of many semi illiterate Africans spew. To him "get" can also be used as a present tense. I hope you are not the idiot you gave him like single "like" he got. The problem with your level of reasoning is very obvious. Your lack of comprehension is the reason here. using get instead of got in that illustration shouldn't be a topic of debate. because that phrase was used to modify what exactly went on in the past. amd it is disgraceful you failed woefully to comprehend such a word. |

rvp2018: I think nearly every country (except Nigeria ) has cornered the universal primary education - but the problem still lies ahead - very low Secondary transition rate - and even lower Tertiary transition. And of course quality of education is still very low. I think Ghana & Kenya need to focus on those. Most kids just finish primary or high schools - and their education ends there. There is a need to push for vocational training - as opposed to a few university placement. 100% secondary transition.100% tertiary transition. And we are talking. i dont see why Vocational work can't be embedded as part of university program in Ghana, 10 polytechnic had been converted into technical university. the student literarilly learn vocational work along with research work. The past Ghana govt really work on this area. |

rvp2018: But are there that many children in Ghana out of school? I think in Kenya we long dealt with that problem - not it's to ensure 100% transition to secondary schools - and then to push millions into vocational trainining and thousands into universities. This is why Ghana Goverment roll out free education for her citizens. in Ghana public school, there is no admission fees, no library fees, no science centre fees, no computer laboratory fees, no examination fees, no utility fees. infact there is free textbooks, free boarding and lastly free meal. In Ghana, there is also student loan at terriatry level with a very little interest . if you are not educated in Ghana now, you can't blame poverty for it but yourself. |

rvp2018: But it could be expensive - I think targeted approach would be ideal (those schools with lots of poor kids get free meals - those from arid regions & urban slums in kenya get free meals) - otherwise for a country like kenya that already spend 30% of budget -on education alone - before you go to health (universal health care) - and soon you'll have no money for infrastructure. well, i understand kenya. Ghana needs to even developed it more. Ghana is still growing, there should more children in school . if Finland a successful nation can do it, why can't we emulate them. Somehow the. citizens are the one paying it thru taxes And fortunately for Goverment they are yet to captured 60. percent of the population paying taxes so the little is from just 40 percent of the population. infact only 2 percent of the citizens working in informal sector pay taxes. If a robust system is implemented and this percentage of people are captured by the revenue collector, much more money will be there for goverment to spend. |

rvp2018: Just out of college - they should start at around 400 dollars - I think base +house allowance salary is around 350usd. Most high school teachers easily make 700-1K usd per month - without factoring the extra they get like free housing, extra lesson pay and such benefits.
In Tanzania and Uganda - a teacher would be luckly if they ever get 100 dollars.
Kenya teachers union is very powerful. whaoo. impressive, in Ghana a teacher with bsc degree holder earn 1500 cedis which is about 283 dollar and about 115 thousand naira . This is too way more than what Nigeria teacher earn but still. yet to catch kenya. i hope. they can see this. i am jealous of your progress in this area. in Ghana too, there is allowance for teacher and nurses in trainning colledge. The nurses used to have automatic job after completing. their trainning but there is a liitle problem with that now. |

rvp2018: That makes sense. I am not sure why you do it nationally. Do you mean all regions have poverty problem and school feeding would be an incentive? In kenya school feeding is only done in those semi-arid regions. Also most of high schools in kenya are boarding school - a relic of the British system here. 100M dollars is really cheap for national feeding program. We spend about 20M dollars school feeding about 1.5m kids from semi-arid regions. free food is an ideal policy. some part of US and UK had implement it. in Finland, school feeding is compulsory gkr everyone. kids who are hungry at home can get some food and be able to have more energy to pay attention in class. There is massive income inequality around the world, including in the advance nation. lot of kids come from families where they often go hungry at night or are malnourished. No matter the region in Ghana. either north or south every public school kid is entitled to free food. Ghana too has a robust boarding system. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by vaxx: 1:43pm On Feb 17, 2019 |
rvp2018: Now that sounds more plausible. I think kenya already spend way too much in education - it going to be hard to justify any more expenditure. Together with teacher salaries - & early education - we are spending nearly 30% of budget on education - figure is close to 5B dollars.
Our teachers are 3rd if not 2nd highest paid in Africa - closely trailing Morocco & South Africa.
Definitely our education outcomes are impressive. And now we are focusing on 100% transition to secondary (this year out 1.1M kids who sat for primary exam - nearly 950K joined high school) and huge push for vocational training. This is progressive. How much is a teacher (degree holder )payed in kenya |

theenchanter: so I checked wikipedia for d "fragile state index" I typed failed state but got fragile state instead. Majority of d indicators there are endemic to africa n not only Nigeria, brain drain, political tension, corruption, religious or ethnic conflicts among others.
And yes, Nigeria was 14th on the list while kenya is listed as d 17th, can we call kenya a failed state too? I think d right word should be "fragile".
Another reason I don't take all these things serious, though it's meant to guide nations in discerning their policies in a judicious manner but most of them are always overboard. in all honesty both Nigeria snd Kenya is a failed state but one seems less better than the other . kenya used to be in that 14 position before it move down ( that means some implementation are in place) Nigeria has move up to 14 position. fragility and failure are inseparable words regarding this topic. The indexis are excellent. going by the parameter they work with. Norway is the most sustainable state in the world while Ghana take that of africa. |

I dont know d indices that proved that the three ties of Nigerian govt failed, u can send me a link but not a newspaper article with unsubstantiated claims.
If ur definition of a failed state is attributed to d bolded part of ur post, then we can conclude that Nigeria is not a failed state cos we have security challenges at d extreme northeasernt part of d country and not d whole federation. This is 2018 fragile state index. Nigeria is in number 14 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_Fragile_States_Index.

Google’s Failed State Index. Adopts the Crisis States Research Centre’s definition of a failed state as a condition of state collapse’,( i.e) a state that can no longer perform its basic security and development functions and that has no effective control over its territory”. You will notice Twelve indicators are used to measure a state’s vulnerability to collapse – four is social, two is economic and six is political. |
