Thanks sis. Ottawa , here I come. Thanks for this Can I renew it now? It is expiring June next year and I need to apply for a fresh visa 3 months ahead. What do you think? We need to exchange phone numbers o.
I think you can still apply for your visa now without any issues. You are allowed ro renew within 6 months of expiry. Since yours is expiring June 2019? You can renew anytime from Dec 2018 if I'm not mistaken. Na PM things to share number.

Thanks @blackbuddy, called the contact number for the Nigerian consulate at Ottawa. They basically reiterated your findings.....to present myself on a day of my choosing between 9am - 1pm on Tuesday - Friday and that I would get the new passport the same day.
@maziude, thanks so much for offering to help, I truly appreciate.
@Nogen, looping you in here for info purposes regarding your renewal as well.

@czaratwork, NOBODY on this thread said experiences that are challenging should not be shared. You chose to come to that conclusion all by yourself. Maybe you need to go back and read all the comments made about your post. You came at me because I said "hang in there" but you are here giving similar words of encouragement to Esughusughu. So it's obvious you chose to read meanings that did not exist from posts that only had positive things to say. I am tired of you dragging my moniker all over this thread on this issue. You may need a refresher course in reading and comprehension ma'am. This is the last I would say on this matter. Anything else, kindly argue with your ancestors please. I am tired.

You need to let this go. Nobody came for you, how you got that from Vcole's response to you is surprising. And to be honest all this story about not finding job and finding no, and holding on blah blah blah is PLAYED OUT.
Except you're a complete JJC with no access to the Internet and zero acumen for research, how would one expect to land today and become manager of a company? It happens, yes but be realistic and pray.

Hi, I reached out to landed folks who have successfully renewed their passports at Ottawa and the general concensus is that nobody bothers with the appointment date at the embassy. Rather, they attend to people on the queue with no reference to appointment date or time. 2 people confirmed they got appointment online but went at different dates within the same week of their date and were attended to. One lady detailed her experience as follows, 'you don't need an appointment. In fact the online appointment isnt followed, it's first come first served so just get there early and you get a number as you come in. Only don't go on Mondays as passport applications are not done on Monday. Tuesday to Friday is ok as from 9am'. Hope this helps, cheers.
thanks for this

I really have no idea about the passport renewal process. But if your call to them is unsuccessful, I can stop by the embassy and ask for you.
Enjoy.

I got the following from another forum. Maybe you can explore it;

Insurance

If you stay in Mississauga or Brampton area suburbs of Toronto, there is a non -profit organisation called "Four Corners". It covers you for 90 days till you get your health card.

thanks for sharing this. How have u been?

On the new immigrant struggle;
Before moving I already set my mind on doing survival jobs knowing it was going to take quite a while before getting licensed in my profession. What I was not prepared for was the struggle in getting a menial job, and no! I wasn't doing anything wrong. For a full month I was only able to get 2-days job through an agency ( I registered in ALL i could find), finally what seemed like a breakthrough came during the last week of another month. I was sent to this warehouse for a seasonal job, the work was damn excruciating, but I didn't mind. I found out from another temp who was a regular at the company that the job would last for 6 months, I was happy I found something doing. Just 2 weeks after, the agency left a voicemail they got another job for me, lol! I already knew what that meant. I don't know if it's supposed to be painful, but I was hurt momentarily.
The downside of everything was the website of my profession was updated a week before I landed of which I wasn't aware of, and the new changes makes it almost impossible for foreign trained graduates to practice. I never considered a post graduate program in my field because it was not going to be helpful. I have other options to explore and by God's grace will succeed.
Sending e-hugs your way. Soon you'll be able to look back on this post and smile. At the moment though, please just keep putting one foot in front of the other. I understand how this feels. Things would get better. If I may ask, what's your profession?

@blackbuddy @salford1 @maternal @maziude @fusion23 @everybody who may have info cheesy

Please this nigerian passport renewal thing at Ottawa. So I've filled the form and made payment blah blah blah. The platform automatically scheduled an appointment date for me. I tried to reschedule on the site and it also rescheduled to another date it selected automatically. In other words, it does not give me the option of picking a date for my appointment on my own. Flight fares for those dates are not smiling. Any idea if it is possible to reschedule to a preferred date of my choosing? and if yes, how?
I intend to call the number provided on the website for the passport issuance section on Monday but would appreciate any info anyone has that could prove useful. Thanks.

Guys, I'm in Mississauga. Where can I get flu shots for myself and the kids without health cards. This is urgent cos I've called various pharmacies and they keep asking for OHIP.
I don't think you can get a flu shot without OHIP. Unless you wanna pay out of pocket, then you can probably ask if they have that option available. I may be wrong though.

Like has been said, let's see how it all plays out. It's actually a very interesting scenerio.
@ bolded, most likely didn't read the EE/FSW thread enough hence the "customized" interpretation of the passport request s/he received and goes ahead to come out of ghostmode to give wrong advice to someone else who asked a pertinent question and decides to be rude to others who bother to respond. Yes, you are right, the number of posts don't matter but the content of posts surely do.

of course VAC Accra cannot be one of them cos it is not in UAE, but at list you have told to use the nearest VAC to you.
yoi actually did the wrong thing. It gave you 4 visa offices and asked you to pick one out of those 4 closest to you to send the passport to and option 2 is to send to Abu Dhabi. You were not supposed to send your passport to Accra because Accra is not your visa office and does not have the counterfpil for your visa that needs to be affixed to your passport. If you wanted to send your passport to Accra, you should have contacted CIC first and requested for your visa office to be changed. However, I am curious as to why you sent to Accra seeing as it is common knowledge that they delay return of passports. ANY other visa office is way faster and better. Anyway good luck.

@pauloverdi, medical examinations and health insurance is just one of the requirements. There is an income req for supervisa. So your income on your recent tax return should be the same or more than the LICO for your family size + 1 (ur mil) . So if you have 2 kids. You+your wife+2kids + mil = family of 5. Your income (you and spouse) on tax return for 2017 should be at or over LICO for family of 5. In absence of tax return, a letter from your employer stating your earnings plus pay slips n bamk statements would suffice as proof of income as long as it shows that you hve LICO available for 5. TRV is easier in my opinion.

I don't know if this helps (or if it's generic) but when I got my PPR, there was nota bene in bold stating that I should notify the Paris Visa Office (where my application was handled) immediately if there has been a change in my family status/composition (can't remember the exact wordings now). Thus, to answer your question, s/he should contact his/her VO before sending the passport and I believe s/he will be advised on how to proceed.
Thanks Santino1 and Alexandergreat, Dude just received ppr for himself and wife added after first ppr request in Dec. Visa office is now Dubai. First ppr visa office was Ottawa.

Thanks for the detailed response. Shes qualified to apply for the super visa but the part about health insurance for the parent/grandparent coming to canada isn't too clear to me. Would like anyone who has gone down that part to help explain the process
the eligibility criteria for supervisa is on your part and not on the part of your mil. Check the cic website. All of the info you need is there.

Good day folks. I can see the ministry has grown greatly while I've been away. God bless us all and prosper us in this new land we have decided to call our own.

Please I would like advice on the right steps to take in applying for a visa for my mother in law to come over. I specifically need to know if I should apply for the super visa or for a regular visitors visa I.e which is faster to process. She shouldn't b staying more than 6 months for this visit. Also need to know if she needs to have purchased a ticket before applying I.e as evidence that she will b returning back to naija. I just need someone who has done it before to guide me through abeg. You guys are the best source of relevant correct info since the invention of Google. Biko help a brother out. May God bless our hustle
there's a canadian tourist visa thread here https://www.nairaland.com/2103860/canada-visit-tourist-visa-discussion However, choosing to apply for a supervisa or tourist visa is all up to you depending on how long you intend for her to stay at a time as well as if you meet the supervisa requirements. A trv is pretty straightforward, you give her a letter of invitation, copies of both sides of your pr cards (your wife and yours), 2 utility bills, bank statement and work documents (to show proof of funds if you would be sponsoring her trip, if she would be sponsoring herself then you don't need this), her personal documents as required (work docs if employed, biz docs if self employed, personal bank statements, retirement docs n pension if retired, etc).

Good day, pls I'm having a problem at the initial stage of registration.
My initial passport upload was rejected. Pls can anyone help me out? Am I to upload the spread of the bio data page or only the bio data leaflet?
Secondly, is there any Latin page on the Nigerian passport?
@vcole @nyinyez7
i am not sure I understand your question. Registration on physicianapply? Maybe post the upload instructions here and we could figure out the problem.

Thanks for this info. why do you need to keep the receipts though? then tried pta services with my bank, apparently, you need a return ticket to apply for that.
well, sometimes if you are randomnly asked to show proof of source of funds they may come in handy. I had an experience once at heathrow where my fx receipts saved me from a lengthy convo.

Anyway, we do not evaluate our credentials through WES. its done through mcc Canada. Check out their site for info. www.mcc.ca
Thus far, i have gathered the following info as regards an MBBS ECA.
1)open an account on www.physiciansapply.ca a $278 non-refundable fee is charged.
2)request for a source verification (svr) of your qualification on the physicians apply site (this is done through ECFMG). It costs $157.
3)Send mcc a copy of your mbbs degree and a cover letter (downloaded from your physicians apply account) via courier.
4)2-3 working days after receiving no. 3, ECFMG sends a request for a source verification of your degree to your school via regular mail (with a copy of your degree, a form to be filled and a pre-addressed envelope). If the school does not respond within 60 days, they will send another request to the school. At this point you can opt for a courier delivery to your school. They will only repeat this step 4 up to a maximum of 3 times.
5)ECFMG responds to your school and processes your verification within 20 working days and then you can proceed to step 6.
6)Request for an ECA from mcc. this would cost $102 and would take 21 working days to process.
7)Pay a courier fee for delivery of your ECA to Nigeria (about $140).
Note that step 2 may take as long as 100 days or more seeing as most Nigerian schools claim not to receive this mail. To speed up your process, you wanna keep tabs on your school right after ecfmg requests for a source verification and ensure they check their mail and then you pay for a courier delivery back to ecfmg. Cc. @vcole @esosa4real
I see my post made it onto a new thread. You may not have intended to pass it on as yours but you for at least copy my name join the content and credit me on the post instead of cc-ing me naaaaaaa. Anyway i think there is a lil correction to step 4. It is only after ecfmg has sent the request 3 times (60 days x 3) and are yet to get a response from your school before you can request for the svr to be sent by courier.
