Thanks for sharing. Some PPA don't pay Corp members. So, I want to assume the stated pay there was the 19k govt pays. Is this correct? If yes, then printing SOA showing the NYSC allowance should suffice as a proof of paid employment?
that should suffice and that is why I asked the employer to include the ".....under the NYSC program" clause within the reference letter. However my ppa paid me a salary monthly and I was able to upload the account statement showing salaries paid for that period alongside my application because for some reason, I had kept it among my documents. Lol!

No problem @vcole got this and it was written in her letter and she is in Canada now.As long as you were paid. Am i right @vcole ?
hola. I used a letter from my ppa. It stated "vcole was employed as xyz (d position of my noc) who worked for xyz employer(name of ppa) under the nysc program"

Thank you very much .The account is actually a few years old. Just that we started preparing it for this application 5months before submission
That's entirely in order. So you'll print out a 6 months bank statement right?

Hey guys. I have a question.
Can someone adopt a child after receiving their PR cards?
For sure. However that child would only be able to move to Canada under family sponsorship. If I'm not mistaken during the period of sponsoring a family member the sponsor must be on ground in Canada and working. I think you also need 2 or is it 3 consecutive years of having filed taxes here that show evidence of meeting the LICO for the total family size including the intended sponsored applicant .

Please has anyone ever submitted 5 months bank statement + 5 months old Treasury billz and gotten PPR here?
I think if you write a letter of explanation as to why the account is only 5 months old you'll be alright. You may want to include 6 months statement from your other bank account(s) though even if the pof isn't in them just because your vo might wonder where you have kept your funds or utilized funda from prior to the 5 months period.

Good evening,

please i will like to find out how easy it has been for any pharmacist to integrate into the system and other career opportunities.

thanks.
i don't know if "easy" applies to this path. Thus far I know some ipgs who came here years ago and are doing great. I also know some who came here years ago and have still not gotten their licenses. The pathway is to write the ee, mcq, osce, jurispudence and a 1000hr internship somewhere in between those exams. I think some provinces including Alberta recently reviewed their rules but I am unaware of what changed. Na there i know reach. For the rest, You can probably ask "googoo" grin

It's the state of the economy. Recovery is slow.
There are probably alot of people applying for the same job as you; therefore, the competition is tough. In previous years even when the economy was booming and jobs were easy to come by, alot of new immigrants in your career path often take a particular scm program at sait. Not sure the peogram is still being offered. You would have to carry out a research on that.
Also, do you have an open mind with regards to moving? Maybe if you do not limit your search to Alberta, you could get something in your field in the next province, but if you are not flexible, just keep applying within your province or city, and you hopefully you will get your desired job soon.
mount royal offers a scm program

@thecongo2, I really wonder how this conversation has turned into a racial discrimination issue. Please do not turn my words around to make me into a "black racist" mbok. Your opinion is yours and mine is mine. I don't even have energy to start going back and forth over quality of education. To each his own please. We cannot all toe the same line.

@phocusjosh, stumbled on your post when I replied a post i was mentioned in above. I think that your train of thought as regards responding to the issues raised by the vo are on the right track.
I think that the main issue the vo had was that s/he was not able to justify how your parents were/are able to sponsor your studies since there was no proof of income. So your plans are in order. Include the source of your dad's income. Any proof of current employment or previous employment and retirement. Proof of his registered business(es), tax clearance certificates, personal account (s), rsa.
I think that you should use the same offer letter as you did in the previous app and not the new one as it may seem contradictory. Your statement of account showing salary payments. If you get paid in cheques, keep photocopies of the cheques and deposit them into your account. The study leave letter from your company would be a plus in my opinion. It shows ties. I think every organization has their own study leave policy so it really shouldn't bother the vo about duration of employment prior to study leave.
You do not need to include your siblings birth certificate.
If you plan to start school in the fall, you want to give yourself enough time to apply for your visa. I'll advise applying maybe 6 months in advance? (I may be wrong).

Goodday everyone, please I'm wondering if its possible to apply for express entry during study in canada. Or is the rule to wait till you are done, and do the post graduation work permitbefore you get your stay. Torn between which to pursue.....study permit or EE. Please advise.
Cc. Esosa4real, justwise, vcole, gurus in the house.
I think that you can apply for pr via express entry at any time, including while studying in Canada as long as you meet the requirements.

Thanks Blessedluvdfavd. I don't have a relative in Canada. I guess that means i can't invite her before landing.
My mom applied for and was issued a canadian trv prior to our landing as we were expecting a baby in June and planned to land in April. She sponsored herself. Applied as a tourist, booked a hotel accomodation, sponsored herself and listed a friend of hers who lives in Toronto as one of the persons she would be visiting but did not obtain a letter of invitation from her. She did a paper app and it was processed in 6 weeks. She does have travel history to several countries including Canada in the past so that may have been a factor and when she came here she went to Toronto first as stated in her app before heading our way.

@paulverdi, I really don't know what to advise........I think I agree with the pros and cons mclarry put up. However, is the offer from the other job that aligns with your area of expertise good? Apart from the $7 difference in pay, what are the benefits and how do they compare to your current gig? Is commuting while your family remains where you are right now an option for you? If it is, would the cost of commuting make a significant dent in family income? If y'all choose to move to the new city, would your cost of living increase? Are there more job prospects for y'all in the new city in comparison to your current location?
So many questions but I think at the end of the day you would have to crunch the numbers and figure out what the financial implication is on your family income and cost of living if you accept the new gig and then decide if it is something y'all can afford to handle keeping in view your long term career goals.

The nigerian will be the 3rd option based on biased and ignorance... that hiring manager knows that Nigerians live on trees. That is the only reason the nigerian will be the 3rd option. Why then wasn't the European be set as 3rd option?
I would understand if a redneck if finding reasons to justify the Canadian experience requirement. But for a black person to do so ... hmmmm... this is just over me.
you got the wrong message from my post. It'll be ridiculous for me to view this issue from a racist perspective. It is not about being white or black. It is about competence. On a global playing field, where does a Nigerian educational qualification rank and how does it compete with a Canadian or European qualification? In professional fields, how do Nigerian certifications rank on a global scale? How many countries have a reciprocal agreement with Nigerian professional organizations? What is the work culture in Nigeria and how similar or divergent is it from that of Canada? Is the European work culture more similar to that of Canada? And how do these factors affect the job seeking Nigerian on a global scale?
As a hiring manager, it is imperative to choose a candidate who is best qualified and skilled for the job.

If things are viewed from this perspective then I believe it is in the best interest of a landed immigrant looking to build a rewarding career to explore opportunities that would enhance his/her qualifications or gain relevant experience that would open doors for advancement.
TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by vcole: 6:57pm On Jan 09, 2018
Congrats freeradical. I guess you may have some diageo experience with an associate of IGB designation right? You obviously proved yourself to be fit for the job. All d best!!

@canadian experience and canadian qualification. Let's look at it this way. If I am a hiring manager in Canada and I have a position to fill and I have shortlisted 3 candidates for the job. All qualified with work experience and who interview well. If I have one with a canadian qualification or experience in a similar role in a canadian company, another with a European or US qualification and foreign experience from Europe or the states in similar roles (bearing in mind that Europe and the US sometimes have reciprocal professional association agreeements for some professions) and then I have one with a Nigerian qualification and Nigerian experience. In order of preference who would I hire? I guess it's pretty clear that on a level playing field where all 3 candidates interview well, I may most likely make the Nigerian a 3rd option.

It's not a myth that Canadian experience and/or qualifications are necessary to get ahead. Most especially if you are in a regulated profession or if you find yourself experiencing difficulty getting a job or you do not want to have to deal with the possibility of job hunting for months without getting a job. So my advise is that you consider getting a recognised qualification or certification that is recognised in your industry in Canada on arrival or get a job sometimes in an entry level position that is relevant to your industry.

I agree with salford1. Getting relevant Canadian experience and/or a Canadian qualification is an advantage that cannot be under played. A diploma or certificate sometimes would make a world of difference in your career progression on this end and could open doors a lot faster in your field of interest. So it is worth considering.

Congrats @amindome (i think i may have spelt this wrong).
Someone asked about before and after school, it's just child care for before school and after school. So let's say your child goes to kindergarten from 8:30-11:30am or 12:30-3:30pm and you work or school, you drop your kid off at the daycare or dayhome say 7am and they take d child to school and pick up after and you pick up your child at 5pm. As with most childcare options across provinces, there would most likely be government subsidies available to help out with the cost.

Happy new year everyone.
@andyphief, you should try to search for thesis based msc progs in your field of interest and contact prospective supervisors. If you are able to secure a supervisor with a grant who is willing to put that towards your research then you won't have to pay for your studies. Explore Australia and Canada and maybe Germany. I wouldn't advise anyone to go study in the US right now unless you have a scholarship or funds because with the immigration reform with Trump, post study after schooling in the US is becoming a myth. Also look into applying for Australian PR.

Happy new year to everyone here....
I would appreciate some advise from experienced PR.
I plan to relocate sometime July this year with my 5 year old daughter ..but I'm torn between 2 choices.......
1) Go first, settle and have her join me before the expiration of her medical
2) Go with her in July......
I understand its challenging relocating and more so with a child....but I'm not sure what to do.
Also, which is more advisable and more profitable in the long run
A Bridging program or a Co-op program? I'm into Administration and HR field
I would really appreciate sincere advise from residents in Canada.
Thank you
Relocate via pr or via tfw or student permit? You should go with her. She's 5yrs old. She'll start kindergarten and go to a child care place for before and after school while yoy go to school, work or attend a bridging prog.

@oohunt, I've been meaning to mention you on here as it's been a while you posted. Welcome to Calgary in advance. As advised Burlington coat factory. Get thermal wear for yourself and the kids. So layer up. Like a singlet, thermals, shirt, sweater then jacket with a hat. Thermals or fleece lined tights, pants and fuzzy socks then winter boots. This week has been cold in Calgary and as salford1 says when you land it'll be warmer but iunno if it'll be as warm for you. Lol!
