erico2k2:Better shut your bonnet and turn off that London-used engine. I just did mine. Adios. PS: My apologies to everyone else. |
erico2k2:You should perform an idle relearn on your spelling and punctuations. You amuse no-one with your London street cred. Adios, car dealer. Adios! |

erico2k2:Sorry, I don't deal cars for a living like you do. Every car post you see on my topics list are private sales for persons I know at a particular place. But wait, you mean you had to "run a scan" on me to help you decide how to respond? I didn't even bother with your profile until now, following your lead. And sorry if all my grammar made your head hurt. You see why I said I hate it in the first place? |
erico2k2:I see you lack comprehension. I will leave you to your fate. On a second thought, let me respond more fully to you both... The reason I didn't respond to that guy was because I hate it when people miss or deviate from the context of a GENERAL discussion and seek to overcomplicate things with A TECHNICAL response just to make themselves look smart or learned. Lambos and Ferraris come in "automated manuals" with dual-clutch gearboxes, and similar technologies. Why didn't they just call it an AUTOMATIC? Because it's NOT an automatic! The root word in that name is "manual"; the "automated" attached to it is actually a qualifier, an adjective. This means that, in its core, it remains a manual transmission (actually, two manual trannies), with techy gimmicks added on top of it to achieve faster-than-human gear shifts, in response to throttle position, steering position, obstacle awareness, and more than 20+ driver habit and other input signals collated and logged over time, with some basic implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) deciding the shift points. And you know what's funny? I mentioned this particular point about faster-than-human gear shifts in my original comment, to which the egotistic bloke you referred to responded with a painfully condescending blab. I quietly left his comment unreplied because he ended up saying pretty much the same thing I said. At least I made him do some googling assignment for a Bibliography. Feel free to follow suit. I suggest you read this: https://www.psychologytoday.com/intl/blog/mind-brain-and-consciousness/201202/consciousness-artificial-intelligence-and-automatic |
There was zero need to refer to the UK in the manner you did. Return to the top of the discussion, if you will, and see the context of the references. We were talking about the cost of manual vs auto tranny cars in Nigeria, NOT the United Kingdom. My response was to explain why there is such a price difference between two identical cars, different only in the kind of tranny they have. Nigerians don't buy manual, that's why the price is always significantly lower than its automatic twin. A simple demand-driven price gap. Nobody was talking about car manufacturing. Just you. erico2k2: |
erico2k2:You should really go back to school and learn to read properly. Did you read the first sentence of the comment you were replying? For God's sake, who said anything about the UK? |
erico2k2:Manual cars are cheaper in Nigeria only because Nigerians don't buy manual. It's simple a factor of demand, nothing else. Now, in reality, manual cars are more fun to drive, as they let you feel the power of your engine / torque much better than any automatic ever could (except, perhaps, some newer tech auto trannieslike dual-clutch etc). Ever wondered why super cars like Lambos and Ferraris DON'T come automatic? They're always manual. It'd be a shame to pack a 900-horsepower beast under your bonnet and insult it with an automatic transmission. The wild animal go vex for you! |
SomoriiN:Somebody should FRAME this statement on a hi-res signboard and mount it on Lekki Expressway, just after the toll plaza, for all to see. You can't afford to have your mechanics misdiagnose a fault and, by the time you they realise it, you've dished out 200k. Well, unless you truly can afford it and you are the casual (feel good) owner type who knows next to nothing about holding a spanner and getting your hands dirty. Besides, the best part of owning a performance vehicle is the feeling of working your own hands dirty on the beast in your garage. Plmp My Ride comes to mind. You won't understand that feeling until you experience the joy of it. PS: don't try this (=DIY) if your ride is new or very young. Otherwise, it's goodbye to your warranty! You've been warned. |
farem:True. I believe so too, though I've heard that Ikeja LGA is actually richer than Eti-Osa. If you consider the industrial and commercial base (read: tax revenues) of Ikeja, it just might be possible. But Ikoyi, VI and Lekki residential and commercial tax income no be small thing. So, these two are surely the dopest LGAs in Nigeria. |
I never considered Yemi Alade an artiste. She's one of those highly overrated, media-promoted ones out there. Her lyrics are perhaps the most meaningless and shallowest of all. |
borijomi:@Borijomi, you are already doing a good job as unappointed PR rep for the school. Expect an offer letter in a jiffy. There are two clear issues in this matter, which you are failing differentiate 1. SOME CHILDREN WILFULLY DAMAGED SCHOOL PROPERTY. If those photos are authentic, someone must pay for them. The identities of the culprits is the main issue here. 2. THE SCHOOL REVEALED THE MISDEMEANOUR IN A MALICIOUS MANNER. Why wait so long to disclose the case? I have no problem with the charges, but waiting till so late before springing a surprise accusation is, to me, an effort to embarrass the parents and their wards. The amount in question is not the main issue. I agree with you that the bill was inflated possibly to serve as a deterrent to such behaviour. But it is the timing that I consider unfair. Besides, why make parents pay for a graduation party that ought to be optional? |
They ALL play the same tricks. Caleb British is not the only one. A similar thing happened at GreenSprings School, Lekki. They waited until the NIGHT before the Valedictory Service to inform parents of allegations (and bills) of misconduct. I know because I am familiar with one of the affected parents. Funny part is that the accusation levelled against her son was about a misdemeanour dating back WEEKS. This young man was supposed to be the VALEDICTORIAN. He was asked to prepare for his valedictory speech, but the night before the Valedictory Service, he was told that he would NOT be allowed to give the speech because of the misconduct (which they magically forgot until the night before the event). In his stead, a girl, whom they had secretly asked to prepare a parallel speech all the while, was invited to the stage to give the valedictory speech. You can imagine the humiliation that boy felt. Impunity is the order of the day. This is Nigeria. |
kettykin:Equipment to do a real-time spectral analysis of vehicle exhaust, to determine the constituents (soot, gaseous petrol, vaporised coolant and it's end products etc etc) and their relative proportions in the exhaust plume, will be too expensive to acquire, and even more stupid to install atop law enforcement vehicles in Naija. Trust people to steal those hi-tech devices/scanners and sell them off in the black market for cool cash. Even I would do that if I can lay hands on one...for safer keeping, of course ! |
Resurface (grind) the 2 front brake discs. That's all you need. Shouldn't cost more than N4,000 to grind both. A replacement is not necessary unless the discs have grown too thin. This is less likely to be the case, but still a remote possibility. The Toyota Matrix doesn't use brake discs in the rear. It uses brake drums. The exception is the Matrix XRS trim, which is exceedingly rare (relatively few -- 2,500 per annum -- were produced), and so I'm betting yours is NOT an XRS. |
That closing proverb makes too much sense. Don't kill your doctor when your enemies are about to poison you. Otherwise, you're on your own. Defenceless. |
