A shawl collar combines both the lapel and collar in one piece. In other words, it is an extension of the lapel above the front neckline and beyond the shoulder. The basic difference between a Notched collar and a Shawl collar is: • The Notched collar has its collar portion as a separate piece which can be cut in a different grainline from the lapel. This top is so fly and easy to make. All you need is a Basic Bodice block to get started. Fabric of choice should be a light to medium weight fabric. You also need to ensure your fabric is a reversible fabric. That means there is no visible difference between the right and wrong side.
