Religion / Why Do You Sleep In Church Even With The Loud Speakers? by veeshine: 5:41am On May 26, 2019
There is nothing new under the sun. Things that happen today as we worship God have been happening since worship services began. There are those who are excited, others who are in awe, some who are confused, and yes, some who are asleep. We like to think of Paul as a mighty gospel preacher, and he was (Acts 24:25).

However, when Paul preached one Sunday in Troas, a young man named Eutychus fell asleep and eventually fell out of a window (Acts20:7-12 ). I would like to think that if Paul came to our congregation and preached people would be all ears, but the truth is, that might not happen. As great as God is, and as privileged as we are to be able to worship God, why is it that some people sleep in church comfortably even with the loud speakers ?

When it's time for praise you would see almost everyone dancing different styles and sweating profusely, but few minutes into the sermon people are already dozing off?

Above all we all need prayers.

Agriculture / Today Is World Bee Day - do you like them? by veeshine: 6:47pm On May 19, 2019
Bees are flying insects  closely related to wasps  and ants, known for their role in pollination and, in the case of the best-known bee species, the western honey bee,for producing honey and beeswax

There are over 25,000 known species of bees in seven recognized biological families.

They are found on every continent except Antarctica in every habitat on the planet that contains insect-pollinated flowering plants.

There are around 25,000 species of bees worldwide, and specifically:

These 25,000 species can be divided into:

over 4000 genera (types of bees)

belonging within 9 groups or 'families', all under the banner - or 'Super-family' - 'Apoidea'.

Apoidea also includes 'sphecoid wasps', from which bees are believed to be descended

Religion / Why Do We Go To Church!? by veeshine: 4:49am On May 19, 2019
People come to church and have no clue why. They sing few songs, listen to a sermon, and go back to their lives without any change.
The problem is that they have no understanding as to why they are doing what they are doing.

If the common church attender comes to “worship” on Sunday but does not know why, then we have a problem. Why, then, should you go to church? To be more theologically accurate, why should you gather with the church — since the church is not the building down the street, but the group of believers?

SO WHY DO WE GATHER AS THE CHURCH?

We “church” to glorify God. We gather around God. Romans 12:1 commands us to present our bodies as living sacrifices to God. This lifestyle propels communal witnessing (1 Peter 2:9), repenting (Acts 2:38), worshipping (Psalm 150; Ephesians 5:19) and teaching (Colossians 3:16). We gather because we are one body, drawn together by God to be a people of God who live for God. We testify to God’s greatness. We disciple others through life together. We serve, teach and encourage, not just one another, but the world at large.

We do not ultimately come together for Sunday worship service to experience an emotional response that brings joy to us as consumers, though many Westerners gather for this very reason. Rather, we gather because God has united us.

We gather because we live life together in being effective witnesses to our local communities.

We gather because the diversity of the local church should mirror heaven to a dying, lost and sinful world. Christians are made to gather.

TV/Movies / Revealed! See When Big Brother Naija Forget Wahala 2019 Will Start -date by veeshine: 3:20am On May 19, 2019
Recall that the teaser was subtly dropped on the reality TV show’s dedicated Twitter account on Friday, May 3, 2019.
In a Twitter post, the organisers also assured the fans of the reality show who have been itching to know when this year’s programme will start properly not to worry as the popular show will soon hit their TV screens.

The Twitter post read: “The wait will soon be over when #BBNaija hits your TV screen. Make e no go pass you by o!”

While Multichoice has not stated the exact date the show will start, it has been however gathered that it will start before the end of May.

The show will likely commence on either 25 or 26 of May, 2019, according to a source at Multichoice Nigeria quoted by Naija News.

The first edition was tagged Big Brother Nigeria. The second edition has the theme, ‘See Gobe,’ while the third edition was tagged ‘Double Wahala.’

The perceived theme of the fourth edition, ‘Forget Wahala’ might not be farfetched considering the fact that the ex-housemates of the ‘Double Wahala’ edition are yet to unite one year after appearing on the show.

Politics / FG Abolishes Dichotomy Between Degree/HND Holders by veeshine: 7:27am On May 15, 2019
The Federal Government has abolished the dichotomy between holders of Bachelor’s degree and those with Higher National Diploma (HND) in all the services under the ministry of interior. The agencies affected are the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Prisons Service and Federal Fire Service.

Before now, personnel with HND certificates are employed into the Inspectorate cadre while their colleagues with Bachelor’s degree certificate are in the superintendent cadre. However, with this new policy, the HND holders will now be moved from the Inspectorate cadre to superintendent cadre without obtaining any degree certificates as the case was before now.

Confirming this development in a statement yesterday, the secretary to the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board (CDFIPB), Al-Hassan Yakmut, said the approval was given after the board’s meeting on 9th and 10th on this month. “The board has constituted a technical committee to work out modalities for the implementation, including the harmonisation of ranks in accordance with the abolition,” he said. This is coming just over a year after the board upgraded the entry point for HND holders into the Services from Grade Level 7 to Grade Level 8 just like the Bachelor’s Degree holders.

“Accordingly, members of the public are enjoined to discountenance the content of the documents being circulated by NCP and equally condemned in totality, the call to derail our hard-earned democracy.”

Celebrities / Micheal Jackson's Eldest Son, Graduates From College -shares Beautiful Pics by veeshine: 9:18am On May 14, 2019
Michael Jackson’s eldest son, Prince Michael Jackson Jr, is celebrating this weekend after graduating college.

The 22-year-old Pocketed a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount College in Los Angeles where he’s studied since 2015.

Just like his late father who was fond of arriving on stage in style, Prince gave his classmates major envy when he arrived at the graduation ceremony in style. Simply by traveling on his motorbike. He loves riding motorbike.

People  went on sending congratulatory messages and here are some of them

“In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe.“ ♥️

Congratulations Prince Michael! Seeing his father’s quote made me tear up. Michael would be so proud!

Sports / First African Country To Build Stadium On Water :see Pics by veeshine: 5:16pm On May 12, 2019
Angola becomes the first country to build a football stadium on water. The stadium was first opened over the weekend in Luanda and more than 1,000 fans attended.

The beautiful stadium cost the country in excess of $20 million and was built for six months. It’s built in such a way that even if there’s a heavy downpour, the water cannot rise to the stadium’s level.

At the edge of the stadium, there are beautiful roads where fans watch the beautiful game from. What’s amazing is that even if the ball accidentally falls in the water, there are people ready to collect it for the play to continue.

The 2019 UTME was held from April 11 to April 18 with over 1.8 million registered candidates.

Education / JAMB To Start Releasing 2019 UTME Results From Today by veeshine: 3:07am On May 10, 2019
Barring any last minute change, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), will start releasing results of the recently conducted Unified Tetiaty matriculation examination (UTME) from today, Friday, May 10.

Recall that the Board conducted the 2019 UTME between April 11 and 18, with massive malpractice recorded during the UTME, a situation which JAMB officials regretted.

Apparently displeased with the massive malpractice, JAMB banned 100 of the 687 Computer Based Test (CBT) centres over allegation of malpractices and violation of extant regulations.
Speaking with The Guardian on Wednesday, the board’s spokesperson, said JAMB would start announcing the results before weekend.

“In the course of our biometric examination, over 100 centres are discovered to be involved in acts, not in line with JAMB rules and have been banned from participating in examinations", he said.

Thisday reports that the EFCC wrote a letter to the state government, through the Permanent Secretary, Government House, dated April 26, and titled, “Investigation Activities: Dr. Bukola Saraki.”

The letter signed by EFCC’s zonal head Isyaku Sharu directed the Kwara state government to furnish it with the full details of Saraki’s entitlements.

This, the letter stated, should include but not limited to emoluments, allowances, estacodes, other fringe benefits and severance package while he held sway as the Executive Governor of Kwara State between 2003 and 2011.

“This request is made pursuant to Section 38 (1) & (2) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004 and Section 21 of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act,” the letter read.

The revelation about the EFCC probe comes just days after the International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) announced the appointment of Saraki as an ambassador.

The IHCR had, in a letter dated March 16, 2019 and signed by Ambassador Friday Sani, the Diplomatic Head of the Commission to Nigeria and other African Countries, stated that Dr. Saraki has been appointed as one of the revered Ambassadors-at-Large of the multinational body.

The outgoing senate president who accepted the nomination is expected to lead the diplomatic team of the IHRC in various diplomatic missions across the world.
