BusinessOwning A Lekki Estate Shuttle Bus (info) by verbena(op): 10:08am On Dec 21, 2012
Please can someone give me the details on how to go about owning one of the lekki estate shuttles. I am interested in venturing into this business but I need to be sure the numbers stack up. Running a bus inside of lekki reduces the chance of lastma wahala, driver stories and car breaking down.

1. Who do I meet to register the bus
2. How much can i expect to be given daily
3. How much will a decent bus cost me
4. How do i go about recruiting a driver.

PoliticsRe: Rivers State Target 24 Hours Power Supply by verbena: 3:26pm On Jun 01, 2011
rivers state produces 460 megawatts which is more than enough to give the state 24-hour electricity but the problem is the fact that states are not allowed to distribute electricity instead this is sent to the national grid. Ameachi has asked the president to be able to distribute electricity and send whats left to the national grid. If permission is granted then the government will start making arrangements for effective distribution within the state.
PoliticsRe: Lagos Tenancy Bill Passed To Fashola For Signing by verbena: 10:41am On Jun 01, 2011
my advice for landlords should be sign a years contract when tenant moves in to the house to comply with the rules and after that sign 6 month contracts and make sure there is a clause in there that says on the next day after the contract expires landlord reserves the right to boot you out of his house without warning. this is legal because the contract is no longer binding. Protects landlords and tenants , that way nobody owes anybody anything.

SIMPLE AND SHORT .

@tiwantiya

if you have a contract that has not expired he cant do that until the time comes to renew the contract. If you have no legal agreement either pay or move out .
PoliticsRe: Lagos Tenancy Bill Passed To Fashola For Signing by verbena: 1:47pm On May 31, 2011
Its a shame it had to come to this. This 2yr rent business is something that came about because landlords do not understand the whole point of a real estate investment. Theres no civilized country in this world where landlords forcefully collect rent in years and due to how cheap housing is in Nigeria and the lack of it landlords are looking at this as an opportunity to use this to tenants demise.

if nobody agrees to pay 2 year rent i guarantee you that landlords will start collecting six months anyways without this bill or not. What i think is reputable estate agencies will have to oblige so if you want a house get one through them instead of that greedy baba that wants to reap his investment in 2 years.

And moreover places like lekki 70% of flats are unoccupied landlords have started to see when push comes to shove say 1 year is a very good offer. This bill will filter out the greedy landlords from the reasonable ones.

AutosRe: How To Successfully Pre Order A Car On Nairaland ( For Buyers And Sellers ) by verbena: 3:09pm On Apr 14, 2011
My suggestions for pre-order deals are go to a reputable law firm and contract them to be a mediator for the pre-order deal. Pay the money to the firm and if the dealer delivers on time that money should then be remitted to the dealer. In the case where the car hasn't been delivered on the specified date then the seller would be allowed to collect his money from the firm. Its as simple as, and i know lawyers that would do this for you for little money. Im sure buyers wouldn't mind paying a little extra change to have the peace of mind that their car is not gonna arrive in 6 months.

I have considered doing pre-order in the past and didn't do it because of the stories iv seen on NL about funny dealers. Personally i cant afford to be without a car for 2 months and given the fact that i would sell my car before i start the transaction this option is not viable for me unless there is that guarantee my car would arrive within 4 -5 weeks.

I have given this website in the past, exporttrader.com. They have cars advertised and they will ship to Nigeria without telling you funny stories and if you have to pre-order why not use inspired as he seems the most credible amongst the lot.

im just saying i lived abroad for a long while and the only must have to make a car road legal are the seat belt pretensioners. There are cars sold abroad without airbags and not once have the people in the UK asked for their government to ban such cars from being sold. some of these cars cost in excess of a 100k pounds yet have no airbags and the people just buy or dont buy based on their requirements from a car.

Picture of a spyker C8 sold in the UK, also please look into cars like Morgan amongst others.

At least now indie22 has told you that the 2011 Rio would have airbags , so guess u are all happy. I'm sure all of you are gonna still come back and complain that kia has increased the price of the rio, and that the government should intervene.

Ignorance is a big disease and I can only pray that one day Nigerians find the cure.

@adconline

Well it is true mate, they're so many cars sold in the UK without airbags . If anyone doubts me I can post pictures and specs of some of these cars. Men the bottom line is SON has no business with this, if anything they have provided a choice to people who can't afford more expensive cars. My brothers its seems like u all making excuses for loving tokunbo or completely ignorant of how things work in a developed world. Sometimes people think that all is right in the western world, the reason they don't die like us is they don't drive like us and they observe traffic rules and regs. Besides sorry to say this but someone that uses the word falsehood in that statement u just made can't possibly be on my reasoning frequency so I'm just gonna let u and ur illiterate thinking be.

Thank God for people like sultaan and freaky des that can see reasoning, them force anybody to buy.

@ ematok
I walked into a kia dealership , saw the rio wasn't what I wanted , made a decision to spend more and wrote a cheque for a sportage. That's how civilized people behave nt blame our disfunctional governmant for something they shouldn't ve involvement with. Its a free country and buy where ur money reach
Car TalkRe: How Kia Motors Endangers Lives In Nigeria. by verbena: 4:42pm On Mar 16, 2011
sleek reek, all i am saying is the government cannot ban them from bringing in cars without airbags as even in civilized countries airbags are not a must have in cars(see my earlier post for examples). what people forget is in America no shipping and clearing costs involved so the cost price of one rio is at least 600,000 naira less than in Nigeria and they roughly cost the same in both places (base Rio $11000 and N1.8m) . Those expenses have to be taken from somewhere and in a car like a Rio that has nothing thats all there is to take out. All im saying is if u want airbags save more money, if you think that its a good deal buy. if they put airbags in kia and still pay all the shipping costs the car would be 2.5 - 2.6 then who go buy. men think like we educated, until we start assembling these cars here, cars would either come ill equipped or over priced so u need to think about that.

Besides its not like the government is forcing you to buy a kia and kia themselves sell Rios with airbags so if u want buy that one for 500k more.

To be honest if everybody in Nigeria got their licenses by taking a driving test like civilized people and obeyed traffic signs wede be a lot safer. People drive the opposite direction on one way roads, drive in between roads and beat traffic lights(when lasma no they) and then same people talking bout airbags. Men all i am saying is until they start forcing all of us to buy Kia Rio with no airbag nobody should complain abeg.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Dstv To Increase Their Subscription Fee! by verbena: 4:28pm On Mar 16, 2011
Nigerians, if they increase and you cannot watch abeg buy hi tv. You people talking government , south Africa , men anywhere in this world if a country has a monopoly of something they would capitalise on it abi them tell una say dstv na charity. men its as simple as, if u cant pay dont watch. nobodys forcing u, its a free country , shu one talk Government, the other one say south africa cheesy , please government cannot do anything bout it , given the rising costs in nigeria dont u think that their costs have gone up to.

Abeg jor Nigerians always feel they are being cheated yet if they're the ones at the top of that industry they'd drive us all to our graves. see wt dangote is doing with cement , to be honest with you if our local stations were any good dstv would be 5k as then it wouldn't be a necessity just a luxury.

@ rilwan

The government in the USA and UK wouldn't stop this cars from being sold in the UK what would happen is people concerned wouldn't buy. If you ever heard about the luxury brand of cars called Morgan, their cars do not come with airbags yet people still pay in excess of 50,000 pounds for it. I can mention a few others if you want , the spyker c8 has no airbag and would run you over 100,000 pounds. Its common sense , if i you went into Kia and asked to buy a rio , if sales man says no airbag, u tell him sorry, oh thats a shame i would've bought it if it had, call okada and head to Toyota to buy a yaris for more money. Its only common sense,

@delegiwa

Dstv is a private company so the government dont have any right to regulate their pricing. If the government did something about our local channels then dstv would not be a necessity. u people are just funny, if dstv increase their subscription and u cannot pay my brother buy hi tv as ur the one that wants to watch and no one is forcing u.

did your mechanic change the plugs ? one thing i can guarantee is if you took it to a good mechanic to service that wouldnt recycle perishable car parts your car would be fine. As washing nozzles and plugs in petrol wasnt a white mans idea of a service.
Car TalkRe: How Kia Motors Endangers Lives In Nigeria. by verbena: 3:33pm On Mar 16, 2011
FYI i lived in England for 6 years and Cars without airbags can sold and driven mate. The only requirement needed for cars to be road worthy are seat belts anyone that has had an MOT done in the civilized world would testify. what people do is if a car is not up to your specification you dont buy. EASY AS THAT. All kia is doing making brand new cars affordable to the public .

Some of you are so funny, theres no pleasing nigerians. And one thing i would let u know the chances of you buying a tokunbo car for the same money as a kia rio and the airbags deploying is less than 50%. As most of the tokunbo cars brought in here are salvaged cars that the americans have deemed to unsafe for their roads. For me i have been in Nigeria 2 years and i never catch that tokunbo disease yet so i would rather my airbagless rio than buy a tokunbo honda EOD.

Abeg i can tell ur bitter cos u r interested in getting one, save more money and buy a cerato rather than blame SON, that is the only way kia can provide budget cars . Also i have just bought a KIA and i clearly remember wen i bought it you could get a RIO with airbags and auto for 2.2m, Nigerians abeg just buy that one and shut up, let the people that cant afford it have access to Brand new cars aswell.
Car TalkRe: How Kia Motors Endangers Lives In Nigeria. by verbena: 8:48am On Mar 16, 2011
them force you to buy, If u want a car with more airbags go and buy a Yaris for 1m more. There have taken out the airbags to make it more affordable to you. You buy what u pay for, if the government says there must be airbags and kia puts in airbags in the rio the car would be about 2.5m. Then its still you that would complain that theyre ripping you off. Cars are similar priced in USA because it is assembled there thus eliminating the shipping and clearing costs and for Kia in nigeria to deliver budget cars they have to do away with some options in the car . Given that the rio doest have much in it the airbags seem the logical thing to remove( as car no go work without tyre or gearbox). Dont work for Kia but its only common sense, if u want something with more airbags go and but a toyota and stop complaining.
