akin, I didn't mean to make it sound like Statham turned down the role of Iron Man, I was just speculating, see why I bother about typos? I've read Half Blood Prince and I can tell you it's very ghoulish, man. In the Hitman game, I'm at a stage where I'm supposed to liberate some guy taken prisoner by one crazy ass Russie general and also terminate this general and then blow up a wall and bla bla bla, the problem arises after I had killed every single one of those commies and need to blow up the wall. I can't seem to figure out how to place the blow and blow the place up and go to the next stage. I hope Sherlock is doing ok and hasn't bitten more than he can chew, with all these sophisticated villains of the 21st century. When you get all the clues to fit the puzzle together, you know where to find me. Spikyn, missed ya but I'm sure others miss you too. Thank God, you also didn't really like Rush Hour 3, I found it a little annoying, and the make-shift parachute at the ending insulted my intelligence. Vin Diesel, yes, he could've pulled it off too as 47, but I think he's got too much attitude to fit the role of a robot like assassin. As regards your question, men, that's a tough one. I've never really thought in that line before. But I'm sure it's a book rule that too many cooks spoil the broth. I think that's applicable to a movie cast as everybody needs to play a role; that's why we have leading roles. But if it can not be avoided, I think Quentin Tarantino is the Prime Candidate for the task, because his type of films have a lot of personal input and that's only what can keep the big shot actors from improvising too much. I think Scorsese did a splendid job with the Departed, where there were at least 6 big names. Generally you just need a director with a reputation to crack the safe. Phew, I hope I got a pass mark! |
So we're talking about our folks now, huh? Well, I'm gonna make it easy for y'all by likening my people to characters y'all can relate to. Mon papa: Homer Simpson with more brains Mon mama: Martha Stewart, but quite nicer My first younger brother: simply Moi but somewhat upgraded I have two other brothers who are twins (non-identical): One's a genius and the other's insane (Pinky and Brain) I now have one lil sis who's four and adorable but she's already knows how to use that to get her way. Snoopy: our dog who's nine next month and a loyal as you can imagine, and that wraps it up! |
Are you guys trying to set a record or was yesterday 'type till fingers hurt' day? Reading both your posts made me dizzy and I had to get my glasses to avoid reading the same line twice. I don't really think that Harry Potter will be going away anytime soon cuz it's such clincher for the kids and people who aren't really kids like me and y'all. The majority of the fans do not care because they're just kids who just want to see magic done. Though for it to have any continuity, I think they need to draw their ideas from other sources rather than from J. K. Rawlings, who I think has proprietary rights for the contents of these films. But we all know there are ways around problems like these. If they always have to wait for her to write a book before anyone can hope for another Harry Potter movie then there'll be problems if she, say, has a nervous breakdown or something. I heard something akin to a parliament being set up and a whole lot of important people signing a document to get her to resurrect, I think Ron Weasly's character. A little rusty on that story but you can find out for yourselves. I'm going to see The Order of the Phoenix with some friends later tonight. Then I'll be able to contrast it with my favorite too, Prisoner of Azkaban. Though I like the name Order of the Phoenix better. Saw Rush Hour 3 yesterday. People were of the opinion that it was the best among the three, but I think not. It was definitely a good watch but I didn't like the chemistry between Lee and Cutter like I did in the first one or even the second one. Cutter directing traffic? I just couldn't decipher that. What could bring about such a demotion. I know these guys have shifts of duty, but we're talking about a national hero here, even if he's a clumsy, accident-prone, running-mouth, MJ obsessed hero. I just didn't like the story of a worldwide mafia having so much tradition as if we've ever known thugs to be organised across races or anything. Hitman too didn't make me particularly happy when I heard about it and matters were not alleviated with Tim Olyphant being in it. But I guess they couldn't get a better actor like iice's choice, Statham to shave his head. Even Angelina was wearing a wig in A Mighty Heart. I also have the game, Silent Assassin. Currently I'm stuck in a stage I can't get past. It's driving me crazy. Another reason why it's not so popular with me. I really hope it ends up being good but I guess the fear of 'whatever gives iice goose bumps' is the beginning of wisdom. What I'm really caught up on is Iron Man, now that's gonna be a blockbuster. Resident Evil: Extinction promises to be good, but I hope they have a plausible story and are not pushing their luck with it, but luckily they've taken their time. I have noticed a lot of typos in my posts recently and it's freaking me out when I read thru them, thank God for the Modify feature in this website, though I don't know what this has got to do with anything. Akin! 10 Baker Street, I chuckle! I hope I have somewhat set a record, too, lol. da da da da da da, and I need you, da da da da da da, I miss you, da da da da da da, and now I wonder , |
Talking about H. Macy, huh? Missed out on the show cuz of my darn browser. Just decided that it didn't want to connect anymore. Not after I decided to leave it to its own devices, it finally had mercy on me and thus, Well I didn't know Billy directed any movie let alone got an Oscar for his input. Akin was on point describing William H. Macy as a sorry looking fellow and he seems to act sorry roles too. I also met him in Boogie nights, where I sorta met Wahlberg and Graham too. Talk about a sorry role. Scary movie I saw in my more youthful days. Got to see some scary sh*t! In Magnolia again which seemed to contain everybody in Boogie Nights and a lil more. William isn't as unpopular as he seems but it's just that people do not really care about the fellas that don't get the big roles. iice, very funny scenario with you guys and your mum. I only share books with my mum and that's period. Besides she only seems interested in soaps. |
A lotta stuff has been going on here I see. It seems to me Angelina's in real contention to displace poor Antonio in this thread. So akin has a thing going on for Angelina, huh? Well who doesn't? Even iice (straight, bisexual or gay) has go the hots for her! I never knew they were not actually married, she and Brad I mean. I just thought I missed the paparazzi on their marriage plus having a baby and all. Well that explains a lot of things cuz there isn't a place on earth where those two can go and 'secretly' marry each other. Girl, interrupted might have been closer to home than people realise for Angie cuz a lot of people believe she's got a few screws lose, really. Billy Bob, I don't know much about that guy anymore. Since The Alamo, psssshhhh!!!!! disappeared he went. He should by now start thinking about making films too, if you ask me. iice, weird and crazy? hmmmmn, maybe I'll rate a little on the weird but I don't know about crazy. Pretty regular guy, me. |
Angelina once you get past the way she started her career, which is not really localised to her anyway, you'll see that she has really blossomed into a wonderful actress. She has proven herself really capable with A Mighty Heart where she played a Pakistanese. If nobody knew her before one would really think that she Pakistanese. She's great and now greater with her marriage to Brad Pitt and their children (I think I heard she just birthed) I reallythink what she's doing raising unfortunately African children is a worth while affair, as long as those celebrities do not turn it into a publicity stunt. Gwen is into it, Madonna is into it, etc and I start to wonder if they're really that caring about the world. Anyway Jolie is great, period. But then again she's got these sumptuous lips, omg! |
You see, what I mean? You don't like Renee and your sis likes her even less. Guess I gotta change the 'loff' of my life. I didn't know it was this difficult. How did you guys do it? Still like her though. Liked her best in the Bridget Jones diary and Cold Mountain. Me, Myself and Irene didn't work for me, I don't think 'pullin the bull by the horn' comedy suits her. I'm going to download the Iron Man trailer myself if it's ready. Just saw the 'Iron Man' and I'm salivating, and wondering what kind of bad guys this one will come with. Great heroes have great enemies. Hercules vs Hades and you know the rest. How's your quiz coming along? Akin is probably out of the country (more like eloped) with the 'loff' of his life to some exotic place like Fiji, that's why he ain't making any resonance here, akin, please prove me wrong (reverse psychology hehehehe, I learnt from the best---oops akin isn't supposed to see this!) Haven't even heard of Angels in America, but anything with Meryl Streep in it is good for me---the Devil wears Prada? speaks for itself! Jiddah, oh Jiddah! Please do send me the schizzle, I'd be delighted! About LOTR I'm sure iice will beg to differ. She loves that stuff. I could have figured you'll love the Harry Potter collection, we have a new James Bond string on our hands. You apparently don't know iice at all, Jiddah, not like any of us really does (she's one grand Mystery that Scooby and Co. couldn't unravel), because she'll have absolutely nothing to do with Nollywood. Doesn't watch em, doesn't review em, doesn't talk about em. As far as she's concerned they're not worth her time. I largely feel the same way too, though. I hope iice doesn't have a problem with me taking the liberty to assume her position. As for what she does, if you can find that out, I'll find out from you---oops iice wasn't supposed to see this, me and my big mouth! |
Where do I even start? At the beginning, my Dad would say. (My parents are a very great influence on me, I only seem to listen to them when I'm away but in their presence, Dennis, the menace) Scorsese on top. Ooh boy! Van Damme, poor splitting, accented bloke. Haven't heard anything about the fella in ages. Will find out though. John Woo made a lot of good movies among which I think is Pay check. Remember Broken Arrow, Face Off, The Killer, Replacement Killers and of course Desperado. They have John Woo written all over em. Donnie Brasco, oh yeah, I remember that! Couldn't believe Donnie came out unscathed and lived to be receiving decorations. Scorsese made amends on that with The Departed where he left only Mark Wahlberg's character alive and he'd even quit, now that's hollywood. Al Pacino is such an actor that has such finesse, you can hardly know he isn't really American, one can hardly detect an accent around him. Wasn't he just incredible in Devil's Advocate? Sorry ladies for leaving the loff of your lives. Johnny's really great too. Maybe I'll go searching for a loff of MY life too. Though I've always had a soft spot for Renee Zellwegger, just love her eyes, always twinkling and intense, plus she's got these killer cheeks. If y'all could see Jiddah's eyes they look like Pocahontas I wonder what Jiddah looked like as a kid considering one's eyes remain the same size from cradle to grave. Akin, I was telling these gurls that John is very eccentric and plays even more eccentric roles, Ninth Gate positively spooked me, Sleepy Hollow? Don't even go there, plus I saw these ones when I was younger and more impressionable. Good Donnie Brasco quotes! I still got a special place in young heart for Harry Potter, but the epic grandeur of Lord of the Rings is simply irresistible! It passes on all accounts, that's why they made a sweep of the Oscars. Dialogue-superb, Spfx-phenomenal, Storyline-outta this world (literally) and you just name it. Penelope Cruz, first met her in Open Your Eyes, the Spanish film of which Vanilla sky is an English version, funny she should star in both. The Spanish version was better in my opinion but didn't get as much publicity. It had the Aronofsky disease. Penelope is good as she was nominated I think for an Oscar, much to Salma Hayek's delight, who is a frontline activist for anything Spanish. she was all over the place when Guillermo Del Torro won something, I can remember. John Favreau is okay to do the job, just cant wait to see the finished product and see somn new. Robert Downey Jr. is great too. Well that's why this thread's database will be exhaustive. My fingers ache, y'all. I should be getting paid, dammit! |
Why, thanks Cao! Good old Tommy as highest paid? Do you mean that he'll be the currently highest paid as in to displace the other Tommy, Cruise, that is. Or do you mean that he'll be the highest ever paid actor? Exactly how much is he slated to earn for the movie? What's the title of this thread anyway, oh yes, novels I'll like to see inn the movies; OK, um, I read this really kick ass book sometime ago, can't believe I omitted it. It's called The Rule of Four, and it's similar to Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code but arguably better. it was written by two best buddies who started writing shortly after they graduated or was it before. One graduated from Harvard and the other from Princeton, which happens to be the back drop of the book. The authors are Ian Caldwell and Dustin something. It can really be made into a film easily and it will be among the best in league of National Treasure and all other major conspiratorial stories. whew, a mouthful or rather a typeful. Catch y'all around, peace! |
Thanks, but NO thanks! I'll probably melt and faint if I do stand-up comedy or any other type as a matter of fact. The audience will think me slumping is only a part of the act until they wait for like 3 minutes and this guy ain't up yet, the end of my career before it even started. I'll probably only be funny with an audience of one or only myself or only on paper or in this case on the web. Thanks anyway, if I was white, you might see my coloured cheeks! |
Bourne is the better of the two but I gotta admit, they're not operating at the same level. What I mean is that Bond is Bond and he doesn't seem to bother disguising his name or his reputation of which people say precedes him. Now I wonder, how the hell does this guy remain alive when every high class goon seems to know a thing or two about the not so secret 007. I love the guy but don't think his position will stand up to the brunt of real life. Now, Bourne is a different thing entirely, totally paranoid, always looking over his shoulder, trusting nobbody and sh*t. He ain't got no runner, no informants and only him with his mind in fragments against the vast resources of the almighty CIA who has the NSA resources also at their disposal. c'mon man, there is no contest! But of course, this is just my opinion cuz I'm still biased because The Bourne trilogy is still my favorite so chapter closed. |
I'm sorry to bust your bubble or be a killjoy, but I think u are attempting to get to Andromeda while never having got as far as the moon. Well that's what your idea sounds like if I'm getting the gist right. A round the clock dedicated cartoon channel with purely local content is frankly just not attainable, at least in my own opinion. first you'd have to source for ideas and get people interested, then comes the matter of making money from your efforts and all the logistics that can give you headaches. My advice is this; Get your self acquainted with people who are ready to drop the quids and give u full lee-way in this thing. Then get really good animators who are ready to invest in your idea; they shouldn't expect much up front, this stuff will blow up in the future, so it pays them to join the band wagon especially when it's mainly empty. Then when you get together two or three series, you can now subscribe to some stations like AIT (they'll probably go gaga about an African cartoon feature) and MBI and what have you ( something like what soundcity did). Then when the pay start rolling in you probably by then would have found some people already getting into the biz with their own shows, then you can consolidate and put them under your auspices and voila! you just might have a dedicated Nigerian cartoon channel, but of course not in less than say, 2 years. Gotta have a vision, you know. You might want to change the name of the channel too, I mean Cartoon network? plagiarism is what I'm thinking. Go for something like toontv or something, just stay away from anything that makes it sound Nigerian as if it was out of bounds to other nationalities or something. P.S. don't pay any heed to all these haters who are hating on your idea. I really think it could work, you just have to take things one step at a time. ciao |
Well iice, I guess you heard it all from the horses mouth, though jiddah's no horse. Jiddah's my friend here with me in case y'all wonder. I just hope jiddah and iice collaborate and not cat fight over them Johnnies (though that might not be a terrible sight, if there was gonna be a spectacle, but, oh well, ) Jiddah, this here is iice of whom Seye's jealous lately. He says I don't come to his office again since I'm always busy over iice or my thread or whatever. Seye's just being naughty but don't you think princess iice is worth it? Princess? that's a long story better told at a later date. Gonna see some new movies this weekend and some old ones too. Today's Friday and thus this post is a rare treat. Gotta split though. |
I think kellorah couldn't have said it better. I don't wanna start pointing out merits and demerits cuz I still like Bond, just like Bourne better. |
If your new relationship is as good as you say, then I think you should forget about the other guy and don't let him make the trip. You know guys, always coming to apologise after f**king up earlier. If you don't want any ideas being put in your head disallow any contact. My meagre advice is probably late. what, with all these replies and all but in the off-chance that you'll read this, please heed! Except of course, you like him. |
Ok, 80% is putting it mildly Wack is such a nice word. you probably don't want to get in trouble with Seun Osewa's admin engine. Nollywood, schmoolywood, crap! (unadulterated) |
Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman are both not of American origin and I love actors that are so; Hopkins, Connery, Brosnan, Michael Caine(we'll talk about him later) As for Rachel and Jackman not getting so many roles, they're both relatively new actors and it cannot be expected that would get so many roles in such a hurry and to be fair to them both, more than twenty movies between them that were mainly top box-office hits doesn't qualify them as unknown. The Fountain's great I assure you. As for other films that Hugh was in, Kate & Leopold with Meg Ryan and he got himself nominated for a Golden Globe for that (unlucky bloke), The Prestige (recommended), Scoop, Someone like you, The tourist recently, and oh yeah, he was in Happy Feet. His career started in 1995 in some measly series and being an Aussie (like Gibson) it might be hard to get discovered (really discovered). As for Rachel, she won an Academy for Pete's sake! (Even Jenny Hudson is a big shot now for nabbing an Oscar). Plus a Globe too for the same role in the same category ( best supporting actress) in the movie, The constant gardener. Enemy at the Gates and Eragon are also in her resume. Speaking of John Woo, I was saving him for later but, now, it seems, is as good a time as any. He's great, considering. Has an effortlessly good eye for kick ass scenes with the very least of special effects, which is the main reason why I respect him. He has been known as the Asian rep somewhat like Spike Lee for black folks. |
Well I love it when people appreciate my limited wit, lol. I think the only edge JB has over JB is that he's working for the Queen, in contrast to the faceless CIA JB works for who end up wanting to do him in. British people have more couth than that, even if I do say so myself! Cheers, y'all! |
You love everybody hates Chris! Very funny ring to it, dontcha think? sounds kinda like 'you hate everybody loves Raymond' Just don't tell that to a 5 year old or his brain signals might have trouuble finding directions. lol I hope I was passably funny, don't wanna prove my mum's analogy again! holla back Hiya Akin! |
@ cao, I'll be very pleased to know that Sony's set to make that movie. I should have known a masonic studio would have been the one to do that, but that's a different story. I'll like you to elaborate on the cast if you know anything about that as I don't. Maybe Hanks will still play Langdon since Langdon remains Langdon. But it's like we're going back in time so we shouldn't probably bet on it. @bgees. In fact I'm reading The Fourth Protocol again whilst I have other worthwhile books to read, I hope that tells you something. I loved Dangerous Fortune intensely and will pick up Pillars of the Earth and luckily I have Jackdaws at my disposal. If you've stopped reading Robin Cook, you're missing something, though some of his books are terrible, so you'd do well to steer clear of em. (Vector-to much threat, too little casualties, Shock-what can I say? not really shocking. After these two let-downs, I can vouch for the rest of his books) I'm absolutely in the dark about The Partner being made, let me know the cast and general details so I'll know maybe I saw it without knowing (I see a lot of movies without knowing the title, as I probably start midway) P.S. Anything Ludlum wrote and can be made into a movie is fine by me. Though God save the director! |
JB or JB, Hard choice! I prefer JB to JB because I believe JB is more for real than JB, and if you really scrutinize JB on account of the books and the big screen adaptation, you'll see that he's much more serious and generally a 'man on a mission'. The only problem arises when you look at it from the perspective that mishooo does, where we put JB's spying skills to question, solely because we've never really had the chance to see him in regular action before he lost his mind, literally. But in my opinion, when it comes down to it, lock the two JBs in a room and demand for only one to come out, JB will and JB will not. Cuz, face it, who has only a fraction of his mind and still plays the people who deployed him like toys? JB! In case you're pissed, which you should really be by now, the JB I favour is Jason Bourne. Love him for more reasons than one. Initiated ones will know what I mean. |
Nice to have you back, iice, even though its in the interim. I'm afraid I was reluctant to bring up De Palma earlier because he's not as critically acclaimed as he deserves. And I like it when people know what the hell I'm talking about, so they can then even begin to like it, which I like even better. De Palma's resume is fat to say th least as I'm still not a walking encyclopaedia on the fella. But I know a few of his movies that should have made him a household name like Scorsese; Black Dahlia, Carrie (Travolta & Spacek-who's creepy in real life- were awesome. iice, I hope your new signature wasn't inspired by that movie cuz that'll replace my previous 'firsts' on ya), Scarface (arguably his best known), Wise Guys & The Untouchables (Scorsese contenders) and M:I which should have worked if all else failed. Anyway I guess s**t happens. On Darren, I don't know much about him save that he has a knack for making something out of nothing. I've never heard of anybody making a film with a budget less than a hundred large and it ever making a ripple in the ocean. Aronofsky can do this. He also had some very good ideas but they mostly didn't see the light of day. why? you guessed it, no cheese! That's why I'm especially happy with the release of The Fountain casting my personal friends, Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman, lol. Speaking of Hugh, I think he's possibly the sexiest man breathing right now, healthy mix of gentlemanliness and tough guy. and that killer accent. Thank goodness I ain't a girl or I might never get married. Back on the road, Fountain is really great, y'all go see it. Ang Lee, though last is definitely not the least. If for no other reason, his Oscar speaks for itself. Being the first Asian to win it makes the Oscar's voice even louder. Though I personally think the special effects in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon insulted my intelligence, I think the story is simply beautiful. I suspect there might have been an ancient book that they drew some inspiration from. His Oscar winning film Brokeback has not graced my viewing, though. I wonder why as much you do. Oh I love this country, you can watch any film on a lil more than willpower. Friendly neighbourhood pirates, gotta love em. I'm trying my damnest to keep this short and I'm thinking what better way than to call it quits, huh? ciao! |
I've not really had the time to check all what everybody had to say. Seun, from what I've read, it seems to me like you have a lot of faith in the fate of Nollywood. It's all I can do not to totally give up hope. When sometimes I find myself in the position to watch one of those abominable movies, thinking that something better might crop up, I find out that it's worse than the last time. So much for faith. Te problems these film makers have here can be summarised thus, in my opinion at least; -They actually think it's an eternity to input 3 months for a project-I actually heard Shan George complaining that a movie was taking too long. What's too long? 2 weeks! Unbelieva f**king ble!!!!! -The freaking pirates are better marketers than the makers of the crap themselves! How do explain a movie made and copies are being made before the movie's 'officially' out! -They're solely content with making 'Home Videos'. That can never be good for any industry. But I guess even the nollywood advocates will not be willing to pay a couple of hundred bucks for any movie. Therefore they don't input anything. Garbage in, garbage out! -They claim to be 'smart' when you confront them with the question why do you seem to target the dumbest of senile people with your screenplay, they'll retort the majority brings in the doe. -Nobody's asking for a giant leap into sci-fi or amazing special effects. All we're asking is for a good story. Is that too much to ask for? -Their stories seem to always be a recycled story formerly told or a remake (lowly budget) of a simple Hollywood movie they saw and thought 'I can do that' -There is this little annoying fact! They think this industry is supposed to be a preaching media or a moral instruction class. Nobody's averse to a morally inclined story but you don't have to rub it in our faces all the time. The point is entertainment, not minitrainment. -The most valid reason is probably the fact that these movies come out virtually at 30 per week, averaging like 4 per day. And it's not like there are many producers, it's just that each one makes too many, too quick. How then, I ask, can they be any good, huh? -I could go on and on, but the bottomline is that these people don't cut it, but unfortunately they rule this business. I await a revolution similar to what I see in the Music scene, which really makes me proud to be a Nigerian. As for nollywood, I'm shamed! |
Raymond must have very fond memories. Sorry, I never read that book. The only indigenous books I ever read are, Things fall apart, The beautiful ones are yet born, The EZE series (goes to school, likes food etc etc), some Pacesetters and that's about it. And this is because my mum never got around to getting rid of her 50kobo books and also cuz my coz read English. Naija movies doesn't get my attention. I just pray some young guys will just wake up one day and rid us all of the mediocrity, sheeeeeesh! |
Eddie Griffin is definitely at the top of the caste. It's just that he doesn't seem to be pulling any effects lately. Much to my dismay. I think he's one of the few comedians that don't have to 'act' like they are crazy. He might even be slightly certifiable. I started liking him in the SitCom Malcolm and Eddie. His skit, Ed-ucation in Dr. Dre's album in 2000 is still one of my favorites. I'll try to find out what's going on in the guy's life. I just hope he isn't picking up transvestites like the other Eddie. Murphy, that is. Darn Eddies! |
Hi ya, bgees, remember me? Seems like you love Forsyth, that makes two of us! I'll like to see the following books into movies; Dangerous Fortune by Ken Follett Chancellor Manuscript by Robert Ludlum Angels and Demons by y'all know who Harmful Intent by Robin Cook A remake of If Tomorrow Comes by y'all know who A big screen version of Tom Clancy's idea, Splinter Cell Tim Stevens wrote a mind blowing story, On stranger Tides, it'll kick Pirates of the Carribean's out of the way John Grisham's The Partner shouldn't be too hard to make, what's taking so long? Devil's alternative will be hard to make considering people's crave for visual effects but it can still be pulled off! Anyway, being the first to reply I don't want to overflow the buffer, I'll wait for more stuff to come in and add as appropriate. |
I guess I don't need to start voting for anyone again. Because it seems 24 has the floor. Just here to say PrisonBreak is presently the most popular and 24 is my favorite and Lost is lost |
Spicing up this page is not that hard! All you gotta do is say something naughty or outrageous! Something like f*** a** m********** d*** h**** a**** t**** s***** e*****. Too many beeps in that one? Seun Osewa's administatration server will be up in ur ass in a sec. |
lawyer, I cannot believe that you don't like Minority Report! I found the movie pretty good. And I'm not just saying this because I love Stevie. Why don't you guys appreciate the mind twisting plot. I'm not the number one fan of Tom Cruise but his performance was more than passable. There was all in all nothing I could complain about in the movie really. But anybody who calls Minority Report stupid will have to answer to me. Francis Ford Coppola, if you cared to read my initial topic, was the seventh on my Almighty list. That's not because he's any less than his mates but he is just like spikyn said, he ain't active no more. The latest thing he directed, at least that I can remember is Dracula (Bram Stoker's version) and that was ages ago. George Lucas' best movie by my reckoning was Willow. All these Star Wars series were not bad but not spectacular. And I couldn't make up my mind whether the story was a fairy tale or sci-fi. Cute little robots with real bad-ass villains. The only one I really liked were The Empire Strikes back and the other one, I forget. I personally don't rate a director's prowess by special effects but by dialogue and screenplay. Star wars? Too much special effects, too little talk. That's why I won't include War of the worlds or the infamous Minority Report among Stevie's best work. Saving Private Ryan is really, really great. ET? classic! and some others. George Lucas is more like a master in the epic scene, finito. akin, I'd seen Brotherhood of the wolf like three years ago. I liked it, and I like Mark Damascus too. Talking about Milla Jovovich, akin. I think she's up again for yet another Resident Evil, flick. I don't know what this one will be called or how they're going to manage to get a tenable story out of it. But, oh well, guess it's a money making venture, right? Don't know what's going on. It's like there are very few stories around nowadays with all these trilogies and quadrologies. Which reminds me of this movie with Sharon Stone, Albert Brooks and Andy MacDowell. The Muse, I think. No more stories, people! It's great you should mention Gary Oldman, because I think he deserves the most impressive and believable villain of all time award. Very long award, that. Him as Sirius was very good adaptation. I had read that book before seeing the movie. So I found it funny how my metal projection of Sirius was very similar to the screen version. Nice work as always, Gary. Good old Gary. Bad old Gary. Take your pick. To wrap it up, our princess is mute today. We better all go out hunting for the proverbial cat! hiya iice. P.S. >>>On George Lucas, I don't think on any level does he come close to either Spielberg or Scorsese. He was going to be an enduring great but after the travesties that were his prequels, case closed. If you subtract them from his resumeë then he's pretty good as a producer.<<< What better way, what better way! |
I think he's plain gay. I also think he draws his inspiration from Cojo on Inside Edition or is it The Insider. He should at least shave his horrendous moustache. |
I sincerely hope y'all had a very nice weekend. God knows I did. Now don't go asking what I did cuz I'm not that exotic. That's that! Spikyn seemed to be flattered by something I said. cool! But I'm sure it sounds better cuz it's written and if I had said it, I might have stuttered, whatever it was I said. On her question, about the best 9ja made stuff i've seen lately, that's like the hardest question cuz even if there were good stuff available I probably wouldn't even know about it cuz similar to iice I rarely find myself in a position to know these things. Anyway it's inevitable to run across somethings. The best movies I've come across are Diamond Ring, Dangerous Twins, some Mainframe pictures and that's it. Best sitcom in Naija as far as I'm concerned is one Love and and finito, they remain true to their moral stories. Not intellectually challenging but good for kids. P.S. I used to like New masquerade in those days and Things Fall Apart, we do not have literally sound film makers anymore, just eastern crap, no offence to the Ibo folk. iice, iice, iice, your ladyship. I could do with hooking up with ur friends who you say are fanatics about sci-fi. At the moment it seems only I and my brother are the only ones who love this stuff. What's this Ratatouille about anyway? Could you guys give me more detail. The name sounds french. Is it a french movie cuz i love them. Speaking of foreign movies, have you seen Open Your Eyes? It's a spanish film where the idea for Vanilla Sky was gotten from. Incidentally that's the first role I ever saw Penelope Cruz in. Funny that Tom Cruise should be in the remake and they should hook up. Talk about providence. Akin007 or better known as Seun, how are you doing? it's very good to know that you're a fellow in the struggle, lol. |
