Lol, and now 6 years have passed since when 5 years had passed. This thread brought a glint to my eye. I wonder if there are still sensible people on nairaland. My word, there are actually 22 RULES glaring at me right now as I post this. Rules I must abide by in order not to get banned. Oh lordy lordy |
The Ladykillers |
My attention span is very low these days so I can't go thru all the previous comments. Instead I'll just give my opinion. I'm a big fan of Zack Snyder. He's responsible for a couple of movies close to my heart. Superman is always a tricky material but I think his strong points were far greater than the weak ones. The most important achievement was to make Superman a little less special which in turn made him all the more special. Frankly, I think someone else should have been casted as Lois Lane. Amy Adams is just not it. And though this is not traditional Superman, I prefer Cavill with the beard. Anyways, the film had a good story and good special effects. The acting could have been better from EVERYBODY!!!But it was a refreshing take on the whole franchise. Superman is hard to deal with cuz he seems to have no internal conflict that makes him human and with which we can relate to. He just seems like this god with a ridiculously high moral standard. It was a good film. The many things wrong with it does not take away that it is the best Superman film I've ever seen. I just hope there is either no sequel or there's a better one |
Sounds interesting. I'll be back. Thumbs up, Cuddlemii |
He Sees Places In The Bible Where Readers Raise Eyebrows And He Gave Them Reasons To Frown. He's An Entrepreneuer Too.
Lol. He knows how to wind them up for sure. When I was a teenager, angels and demons was one of my favorite books and a lotta what he wrote there was more inflammatory than The Da Vinci Code that got people riled up. It is funny to me how documented lies are besmirched with other inventive lies and people whip out their righteous anger like a quick draw specialist. |
adexsimply: lol..I am a TITANS freak..that painting depicts the scene when he was chained to a rock by zeus after he stole fire from Olympus..Incidentally, I just finished the film Prometheus last night. Yellow bars....gold bars....brownie points. It means, I approve of you, Sir adexsimply: don't tell me you believe all his claims are wrong? The vast majority of his claims are correct (and they are not really claims, any historian worth his salt know these things) but the best lies are sprinkled with truth. His are drowned with truth. Writing fiction is to lie. I'm not calling him a liar. But people see him like someone "exposing" the truth. Like he would not have died quietly of cancer if all his claims were true. |
Feraz: Uncle. . . .welcome again oh!!Lol. Thanks Feraz. But don't welcome me just yet ![]() |
I Don't See Dan Brown As A Writer In The Literary Sense, But He's B Great Entertainer; One Hell Of A Researcher.
Nicely put. But I'm a little worried for those who take his books as fact. People are already gullible enough without such an entertaining researcher. He makes an effort to lend authenticity to his books and that worries me. Worse still, he touches on topics that are kinda sensitive and we all know where believing in "Holy books" have got the world. |
adexsimply:Lol. You have earned 17 yellow bars. Yes! |
I think I'll invest my emotions in the mother of Dragons and forget these Starks before they kill me in my youth. Gaddem. And to think how long it took me to watch this episode. I waited so long |
That last episode veered me off entertainment to anger and sadness. I actually forgot for a moment that this is fiction and I was ready to kill someone. At least, Arya saw. So she's probably gonna be doin' a lotta killin' pretty soon. What a terrible gut wrenching episode! |
There's something about Dan Brown that appeals to a reader. He doesn't waste time on unnecessary details and description. I like that about him. But his books, if you're not a young un, are not very "likely" and sometimes, the way he twists history (and annoyingly tells us about the things that are FACT as though we were supposed to treat the whole book as FACT) kinda leaves a bad taste in the mouth. But, his books are supremely entertaining, no doubt! |
Narutodaily has gone belly up since a few eons now. Where can I find new episodes of Naruto? |
Lol. You said it oh. Where I have been is dealing with Life. Too many things happening at once, ya know? |
Hmmmn. Nice thread. Nice poems by you both. Firestar makes it look easy doesn't she? Princesa, where have you been? Hmmmn, where have I been? |
Ballad of the brokenhearted Geisha This snow is new. My lover is gone This is the fourth month without a letter The small stream by our home will freeze soon The fish will now move upstream I’ve never caught a fish before But I sit with my pole to forget The trees will shed their leaves The mountains will soon have caps I’ll start painting again It’s four months now and I haven’t seen the postman My lover quests and I thirst Maybe the postman is dead; maybe I am dead. |
I started this thread with a conflicted mind trying to stifle my 'vanity'. Meh. The battle is lost now. I'll post some more poems but for my other works (mostly very short stories) please visit vescucci.. Mucho gracias |
Awwww! Vesc. . . this is lovely! Dark and Lovely....just the way I like 'em.
Why, thank you!Flytefalls: I love this. Melancholy often fills the gaps. Thanks
I love those lines. But the poems aren't dark as warned. I was expecting something scary (though, i noticed the sadness on few lines in the "LIFE" piece) I enjoyed reading your poems. Thanks for sharing. Keep the muse up!
Haha, I'm not that dark but then this is not my darkest work. Thanks all the same Esin waju: Brilliant. Especially the one about life. I relate with you on that one cos presently I'm faced with a situation and your poem captures it perfectly and you were more rhyme concious on this one, that I find very appealing as a rap afficionado lol. Thanks dude. Glad you enjoyed them Orikinla: Good poetry.Thank you Sir. Coming from you, that is high praise. talk2s: This poem helps reminisce the good old days: when the beauty of art was given its pride of place;I feel you. Thanks a lot Nickydrake: Vescucci, reading your work is always a treat. Believe it or not, i spent a good amount of time poring over your satires over at Naijastories (that was the only time i ever used the site). Drives away for like the fiftieth time in one night |
*Embraces her and kisses her passionately* After disengaging: An idea just popped into my head. I ought to take you somewhere where we can spend two or three full weeks together without anyone else in the world knowinng. I will try to make this happen soon. In the meantime, here's the number of the banker I want you to call. I will mail you a letter as you have asked. I will mail it to your mother directly as you can still be said to be under her care. This way, she won't suspect any foul play. And if the worst happens and she finds out, you're really an adult now and so am I. My wife, I hope to leave her soon for good. So, you will have all the cards. But all these when we get to the bridge, we'll cross it. You should be getting on home now. Send me an sms when you are alone in your room and ready to turn in. |
Lucky I don't have the patience to sweet talk women, I for deadly . I just say what's on my mind gbaga |
*Drives by. Alfreda gets into the car.* What a long day this is turning out to be. What are you doing with an immature fellow like that? Even if he is doing this out of love, he's doing you no favours whatsoever. I have been straightforward with you and you know your interests are mine too. Anyways, the last piece of news is basically that I have opened a trust fund account for you where everything you need will be made available to you during the duration of your schooling. No matter what happens between us, you will always have access to the money as long as you are in school. I wanted to meet your mum under the guise of you being a lucky beneficiary of my new philanthropism. Tell her about me and at least we can stop this cloak and dagger business. |
adim2: ok i think, i better we post after each other. remember that this scene is suppose to be like a brawl scene. we are fight for her now.Yeah. Let the cycle be Rufus -- Alfreda -- Adamu, unless it's a scene where they are separated and there are only two parties currently available as it is now for Adamu has left |
*Drives off again* |
