Yeah, well, I apologise when I see error in what I've done, even if you don't demand it. That's my ninja way! |
I agree to this. |
It's not a bit one sided. It's completely one sided. A man can do as he pleases and when he's ready to settle down, he'll go pick one virgin woman to marry and after marriage, he can continue to do as he pleases. Did these churches not read the part of the bible or casting stones? This municipal government thing has to stop. You'll pay tithe, pay offering, do church work and subject yourself to Big Brother. Man, that's too freaking much |
Hmmm. It seems this practice is more common than I first thought. Na wa o! What I wanna know is this. If someone fails the test, the person is then unfit for marriage or what? Then isn't it classical misogyny that such a test can only be performed on women and all you have as a male virginity test is the man's word and, of course, he can't get pregnant. This is unnecessary and crass invasion of privacy. I don't blame the church sha, I blame the members. |
Well, your sarcasm may turn out to be true. There are already atheist websites and books. It shows a need to gain proselytes. Indeed I don't know an atheist on nl from elsewhere other than the religious section. Atheism like religion is opium. A true atheist shouldn't care what crap you choose to believe. It's just human nature to want people to see things your way |
This is what happens when a church wields too much power over its members? Wtf? The couple are supposed to be in love and ought to be comfortable with each other BEFORE they come to the church to get hitched. Now they're doing a test. Even the virginity test would have been wrong, let alone a pregnancy test. So now that she's tested pregnant, she can't get married abi? To me it's all the more reason to get married ASAP. This thing is really appalling. |
I didn't know you could string together a decent sentence for I'd have taken you more seriously, Rhymez. Anyways, since in your courts, people are guilty until proven innocent, feel free to employ a forensics team. FYI I don't do religion. |
Ben Affleck seems to be a decent director and more than decent writer. Let him stick to those. Has anyone seen Goodwill Hunting? Awesome. I just finished watching Salt. Will do The Expendables tomorrow, I mean later today. Thoughts on these and my review of The Departed later. I have a major headache. |
I apologise to Image. All I meant is more people than you know are born outta wedlock. Suppose the pastor admits wrongdoing, what then? Decommission him as pastor? Or kill the child? It's wrong as a Christian to fornicate, yes. It might be worse not to accept the pastor's explanation. To me, given his explanation (which he owes nobody really) everyone ought to keep their cynicism at home. I'm sorry, Image. I spoke with some passion there. Rhymez, you're just funny. |
Dolemite, I feel for you. Though I'm not atheist, I can't imagine telling my parents my spiritual orientation. Not even my younger brother who I'm closest to in the whole wide world. It would only bring him hurt. Don't be too obvious. |
Ah. You believe in Adam? Possibly that ugly thing called original sin too. I think we can agree to disagree then. |
God cares? You know this as per Sec-Gen no? Abeg, people are dying in The Sudan, Somalia, Bangladesh etc. I didn't even know there was such a person as Pastor Taiwo till now. |
I write a lotta poems but they have the opposite effect on me. I wonder how such nonsense came from me. |
The good thing about atheism is that it is unbelief and not belief in anything. You can just carry on like nothing is happening. Dodge many religious rituals or do them to keep appearances. Thing is atheists are looked upon as some kinda devilish people who have no godly psychomotor. Unfortunately, atheism is turning into a systematic set of unbelief and they'll soon be asserting their rights to assembly. It's becoming a religion |
Which film be The Depatarted? Do you wanna go cross check with some selected bibliography before you rate the thing? |
Lead by example, leader. I'm waiting for Kobe to give his review before I give mine |
i'm sorry, I did not notice your previous post before I posted. There is a thing modern Christians do that unnerves me. They redefine what bible writers wrote and declare it means this or that. For instance, I might say 'I hate my flat screen TV'. A century later, people will start redefining it thus: 'I hate all TVs' 'I hate electronics' 'I only hate Samsung TVs' 'I hate the shows shown on my TV and not the TV itself' or that it is only allegorical and what I mean is 'I hate the fleeting pleasures of life' Nevermind what I meant though which can at most combine only two of the above meanings. That said. I understand the idea of God generating Jesus. If He generated Jesus, what about the Holy Spirit? Is He generated? If He is not, why distinguish Him at all? If He is, why call Jesus the only begotten (generated) Son of God? Does this generation thing mean God is some kind of cosmic Cell capable of mitosis? |
I'm tempted to question your sobriety. Did you not read where he said he flew to SA on an emergency? Probably days or hours later, the baby was delivered probably by C.S. You think he ought to call his church and ask for prayers? Is he not the mighty MOG? Where do you folks get off thinking you can pressure God into doing something by sheer numbers? Frankly, I doubt the whole story like you do but it's not your place, mine or anyone else's to judge him or ask for explanations. The important thing is they're married and the baby is ok, in reverse order. Your witch hunting is foolishness. |
What's about God's thoughts, His anger, His love, His indifference, His sight, His hearing etc? Do they have beginnings too? Why are they not separate and distinct like His word and His breath as you suppose? |
Awww, see the juveniles falling over themselves to join the Church of Satan. The Church and its activities and rituals are just outlets for atheists who don't even believe in Satan to mock religion. No one will give you money, power, respect and fame but yourself. You all better go work hard and keep your day jobs, sil vous plait |
You're not entirely correct, Recognise. Many things in the Quran can be likened to those in the Talmud though not the disparaging parts. Mainly the similarities occur in the descriptions of hell and the torture therein. It's almost certain Muhammad got his ideas from there. The People of the Book are definitely Jews and Christians. That's a fact beyond dispute. Muhammad might not have been able to place the chronology of the Jewish books and must have treated them as one entity, the Torah. There are many incidences of this sort of thing. As for Mr. Dan Brown. It is his gift to make you see patterns where there are not. A seasoned conspiracy theorist. Everything he writes is 90% dog turd with the 10% truth intricately mixed with the bullshit to make you believe the whole. Divine proportion is interesting. It is also nonsense |
But really, who cares whether the baby was conceived in or out of wedlock? What matters is that it is born into a loving family. The baby seems to manage to escape all consideration in the matter. |
Then you do not know a good thing even if it gave you an uppercut. Sphere was great. Comparable to Dean Koontz's Phantom which is far better than its movie |
I love JeSoul 'jumpy' o! This is how she was when I first noticed her. Viva la Jumpe! By the way, that your condition is a price too steep to pay but I'll cop out by saying Obinna won't acquiesce. @Obinna. A sequel? How? Everyone save one departed in The Departed to the great beyond. Get it? |
You positively make me smile with your exits, InesQor. Many philosophers have debated about the absoluteness of good and evil. That is to say are there things that are good and evil at all times and places? My opinion has changed for I viewed good and evil as determinate by God but how are we to know what God thinks? Relativity of good and evil is apparently sensible and I agree, to some extent it still is, but there is nothing right in keeping slaves, however nice you are to them. There's nothing right in murder and pillaging, however much calumny a people wreck on God. If God is pissed, let Him do His own dirty work Himself. He could visit a tsunami or any of the assortment of natural disasters on anyone. As for my house - their house, disparaging another religion is simply another evil and terrible thing. Because such cannot be found in the OT (I may argue that there were no Christians and Muslims to hate in these times) doesn't absolve it of the other terrible things in it and the Quran which seems to have both. |
They're both to blame. More the proselytizer than the proselytes. The bondage that results from ceaseless indoctrination since childhood is immense. I cannot really blame anyone for not seeing reason if he or she is in the religion of his or her birth. It takes courage, intellect, immense curiosity and a true interest in humanity to break free. A mean mix you'll agree |
. . . . . . and they probably despise you for it' |
Don't mind Obinna. Na holy anger dey worry am. I will entice you to watch the whole trilogy. I couldn't sue you. I'm very persuasive. Oya, what do you want in return for your watching Toy Story, eh? |
You have more than enough thunder by yourself, darling. There's no context that can mitigate the quotes significantly. Fact is Jews hate Christians more than most know, they're just too insignificant to do anything about it. Plus the feeling is mutual |
To each his own jo. JeSoul should watch first before passing judgement. Let someone else vote The Departed so we can get a move on |
I think I miss your drift more than I get it. Perhaps you mean that there may be a patron/matron god of water and not necessarily a sea or an ocean or river? Forget about earth. My assertion is that it is so unlikely given the parameters that make the universe, that we're the only life forms in existence. The possibility that we are alone is so remote that you can take it for granted that we aren't. It is therefore exclusive to think of Zeus etc for there's no allusion that there's not limited by earth's limits. In any case, what's the point of their existence? Water will boil at a hundred degrees because it is water and not because Neptune likes it thus. Revert when you can, no problem |
Unveil, reveal. They're the same darn thing. It's just a matter whether one is ready to keep one's delusions to oneself. Spirituality should be individual. Those that claim revelation always seek to deliver the good news (or bad news as it were) to everyone else. In that is religious failing. A complex of believers versus unbelievers. |
