3 in 1, 1 as 3, what difference does it really make? Really? It's not even as awkward as putting the cart before the horse. It's just like a reversible reaction. The only way a significant difference can be inferred is if Nuclearboy for instane accepts that a manifestation can not possibly be eternal. 1 as 3 presupposes that there was a time that there was 1 as 1 or 1 as another set of - insert suitable number- totally different from these three. Then one might ask, we know the 3, who's the one? Seems like the father, no? But that would leave a deficit amongst the three. The more I desperately try to understand, the more befuddled I get. Other happy Christians say I'm proud and that gets in the way. I AM proud but I'm not conceited. Christianity is pretty easy too. All I have to do is believe and pretty much remain the same old V with the same old routine.

If only I could be atheist but that one is several times higher on the scale of the ridiculous

Bathing yourself in pig's blood, for instance, is not against the law. The law doesn't recognise witchcraft until you actually physically harm someone. But then, this is naija

Christianity Etc › Re: Is It True That Islam Allows by vescucci(m): 5:23pm On Sep 08, 2010
At OP. Would you have come here to ask if it was true that Islam promoted peace if you seen such on a documentary? I doubt it very much. You just want vindication. Your opinion is already formed, dried and heat treated. It's one thing to hate something. It's another if it's like an obsession and you get off on the hate. Tradition is different from religion. Arabian is not necessarily Islamic. I'm not defending anything for everyone knows I do not like religion much, but I'm allergic to those who can't think for themselves.

Feeling like being on a sleigh with all this sliding.

@Netotse. Being a wimp has nothing to do with anything. Deliberately making someone cry is different from someone crying over my actions. Either way, being a wimp really is being what you're not and what people approve of.

Why am I going all philosophical sef? Let someone look for my trouble, lemme unload.
TV/Movies › Re: The Movie Club by vescucci(m): 11:44pm On Sep 07, 2010
I gotta admit, movies are an important part of my life. I saw Before Sunrise, the film which Before Sunset is a sequel to. It made me make an important decision. Just when I was thinking, might I have been wrong? I saw Definitely Maybe and thought, nah, I'm good. A stupid digression. What am I supposed to be doing here? Yes, The Illusionist.

I think The Prestige and The Illusionist came out the same year. I love The Prestige for other reasons even apart from the film's quality. But I loved The Illusionist more. Something the film had that were riveting was the mystery. It's different from Prestige were you don't know where sleight of hand ends and magic (science) begins. In The Illusionist, you know everything is an illusion but it is no less enchanting. Norton was so intriguing and unbelievably deep. Spontaneous in an omniscient kinda way. Great stuff. Paul Giamatti was just sterling. The most convincing character. I was taken by him almost as much but was really surprised cuz I've never ever seen him half as good in anything ever before. I'm not so blown away by Biel though. Sorry everyone. Ok, not spectacular. I forget the name of the prince. He's also very good and his acting is subtle. He is truly regal. Last element that impressed me is the question of morality. I was conflicted in the end by what's fair and what 'fair' (as in beautiful). The prince was innocent. Of two charges. The inspector had more scruples than we thought. Biel's character had less. Eisenheim would do anything to get the girl. Eisenheim knew all of the above and masterfully manipulated everyone to get the he loved. It all begs the question: is true love an end that justifies any means. I really couldn't decide. That kinda thing is what makes a great film. I rate it 95%.

Who said something about Oscars? Nowadays those things are like a stamp of deep mediocrity/hypocrisy. Any decent film can do without it.

Lol, Nuke. I think I'll prefer option one but option three will certainly boost TV ratings. Yep, most arseholes don't wanna be associated with lawyers. I know a dozen or so lawyer jokes but it's Deep Sight's birthday

This is indeed interesting. Fascinating, the comparisons one can make with the Greco-Roman gods. Exu especially seems too much like Hermes/Mercury. Sango is like Ares/Mars. Oshun is like Aphrodite/Venus. Olokun is like Poseidon/Neptune. Perhaps to liken Obatala to Zeus/Jupiter is pushing it. I'm sure more orishas will pair with more of their counterparts on Olympus.

His physical condition detracts not one jot from his mental prowess. If anything, it sharpens and enhances it and this mental prowess is what should concern us. I don't think he wants or needs anyone's pity; attention, of course. Who doesn't? His physical condition is a sort of a non sequitur. Leave it alone

Seriously, I'm confused why Hawkings' submissions are causing so much debate, counter debate, reassurances, dismissals etc. Is he supposed to be some kind of final resort? Given, Hawkings is a profoundly brilliant man but he is still just a man. Everybody is scampering to be on his side or on the one opposite him. What the hell? It's a little irritating
TV/Movies › Re: What Is Your Opinion On How To Stop Pyracy In Nig. by vescucci(m): 7:25pm On Sep 05, 2010
Sensible talk. Not much to add but this: garbage in, garbage out. No Nigerian really thinks Nollywood movies are good. Some don't have enough IQ for something better and most think it is good enough for 200bucks. Make something worthwhile are pirates sef will feel ashamed and seek other ways to make money

Happy birthday man. I'm not sure what nice things to say since I don't flatter people. There is an odd dozen awesome people in the religion section that I have the misfortune of discovering late. You're one of them. Also you make Nuclearboy tick, which I enjoy very much. Wish you happiness and that final enlightenment which we all seek. While you're still alive, naturally.

This Hawkings padre is really causing a cosmic furor. Four threads now. Is he supposed to be the guy who wrote The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy published by Jehovah books?
Christianity Etc › Re: Questions? Comments? Complaints? Talk To The Moderators Here by vescucci(m): 8:57pm On Sep 03, 2010
I don't think there's an exact label for what I am, as indeed anyone. I believe in God. I'd be less disturbed if I didn't believe in Him but I do, I absolutely do. He created all. He cares about what goes on with us. There's an afterlife. I don't think God is nothing but pure love etc. I think He is fair but He also makes all the rules. I'm very open to new ideas. I kinda believe in karma but not as an unflinching constant. I think Jesus was special. Dunno how special. Certainly don't think he's God. I don't believe in most parts of the bible. Etc. Do you have a picture?
