The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Ms Tina Essi, f, for the alleged murder of 49 year old Christian Akparie of No 26 Orijamogun Street, Oreyo, Ikorodu, Lagos. According to the press release signed by CSP OLUMUYIWA ADEJOBI,POLICE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER, LAGOS STATE COMMAND IKEJA, Police preliminary investigation revealed that on 31st January 2021, an argument, over the payment of Nepa Bill, ensued between the Landladys daughter, Ms Tina Essi and the deceased, both of the same address, which led to a fight. After the fight, the deceased had continually suffered severe pains but unfortunately, on Saturday 6th February 2021 at about 7am while the deceased was being rushed to the General Hospital, Ikorodu, he gave up the ghost. The police operatives attached to Ikorodu Division of the command were contacted and arrested the suspect immediately. The Commissioner of Police has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Departmet, SCIID, Panti for thorough investigation. The suspect is presently cooling her feet at the State CID, Panti, Yaba. The Commissioner of Police Lagos State command CP Hakeem Odumosu has however urged the relatives of the deceased to remain calm as the command will do the needful to have justice done in the matter. I INITIALLY REJECTED BECOMING A PASTOR BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT POVERTY. TRIBUTE TO RCCG FOUNDER: Pa Josiah Akindayomi -Pastor E. A. Adeboye on the 40th Special Thanksgiving Anniversary I want to thank God for my father in the Lord, Pa Josiah Akindayomi. I want to thank God that He heard from God, of all the people who were qualified to be the General Overseer, l was the least qualified. I just came and after two years, he ordained me a pastor, when he said he will ordain me, my wife and l prayed and fasted for 14 days so that God will not allow it to happen because in those days, being a pastor is a sentence to poverty. I have seen poverty before, when l joined the church, my second hand car was the newest car in the Church and suddenly they want me to be a pastor, we prayed and fasted, thank God He didn't answer the prayer. When my father in the Lord told me l will be succeeding him, l told him no, it will not happen. I told him anyone He (God) chooses for you, l will support him but for me to leave my comfort to come to one room in Mushin, no, not me. He insisted but l wrote him a letter, he could not read but could read the Bible. I told him in the letter to choose somebody else. He said l know what God told me, l know what you are saying, l won't force you and l love you. I couldn't forsake someone who loved me, Papa loved me. He was a prayer warrior, He could hear from God and it is the covenant God gave him that we are operating now. Once the head is good, all is well with the body. We had a good head that had a covenant with God. Adamu Garba, a former presidential aspirant, has opined that investing in cows is better than any form of cryptocurrency business. Garba was lending his voice to the latest instruction to Deposit Money Banks (DMBs), other Financial Institutions (OFIs) and Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs) against having any transactions in crypto or facilitating payments for crypto exchanges. DAILY POST reports that diverse reactions have continued to trail the directive which was issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, on Friday. Some Gunmen have killed one Kenneth Emekwasianya; his wife, Grace; their daughter, Chioma, and Emeka Ntukokwu, a secondary school teacher, in a Seven-Day Adventist Church in Azia, Anambra State. According to an eyewitness report, a masked gunman came into the church on Wednesday, during the midweek service, rained bullets on the victims and thereafter took the keys of a Mercedes C Class car belonging to Kenneth. The accomplices of the masked man who were lurking around entered the Mercedes Benz and they sped off with it. According to reports, the car, which later developed a gear problem, was abandoned in Okija, a neighbouring town. Unconfirmed reports claim that the killers left a note stating that Kenneth was killed because he collected the money the Niger Delta Power Holding Company paid to the community as compensation for the destruction of an economic tree and other structures while the company implemented the National Integrated Power Project, NIPP, in Azia. Part of the note read: “Keep on running but you cannot hide all the time. Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has cautioned Islamic scholars to desist from making inciting statements, which are capable of breaching the peace, while preaching. Ganduje made the call on Thursday in Kano when he met with Imams of Juma’at Mosque and other Islamic clerics in the state. He reminded the clerics of their roles in the society, saying that they should always strive to be shining examples both in words and in deeds. He also appealed to the Imams to fashion out ways that would propagate genuine teachings of the religion. “Prophet Muhammad preached peace, love and unity and as true followers of Islam, we are to emulate same so that we can enjoy both here and in eternity,” he explained. The governor urged Nigerians to tolerate one another, live in peace with one another, irrespective of religious, cultural and ethnic differences. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Kano State Government has banned an Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abduljabar Nasir-Kabara, allegedly over his inciting preaching. A statement by the government directed all broadcast stations and social media platforms to stop airing preaching, sermons and any other religious discussions likely to cause a breach of the peace of the state. It also directed security agencies to ensure full compliance and take decisive action against erring persons or groups found flouting the order. (NAN)
