Yes, VFS Global for South African visa applications in Nigeria has closed for the year 2025 for submissions as of December 18, 2025, with full closure for holidays, including the South African Consulate, from December 24, 2025, and services (visa submissions/collections) are set to resume on January 5, 2026.

where ever u went to submit your own application is still a mystery.

Restaurant92:
Thought? That is not accurate, always rely on official sources. The whole place (Lagos) was a hive of activity for the different applications they handle for different countries.
TravelRe: Canada Passport Submission For Study Permit by vibrant99(m): 7:33pm On Dec 19, 2025
How far did you get the Passport?
TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by vibrant99(m): 3:06pm On Dec 19, 2025
Thought they went on holiday? how did you submit?

Restaurant92:
Thank you guys, I submitted my application today. I didn't even know South Africa visa is that cheap. All those agents don chop my money in the past. I paid 66k for everything today, which is inclusive of premium lounge and courier return. I was surprised to observe that the actual visa fees asides service fees is just 10k.

Kaczynski:
So is russia except that things are very bad in russia.

1. SA almost has no set processing time, just apply 3 months before your travel date and expect a good time for them to process it

2. VFS won't be holding onto you passport , it will be returned to you after you application is submitted at VFS.

arcis:
Hello guys, Please I have two questions to ask.

1. Please whats the processing time for SA Visiting Visa application for frequent traveler.

2. After the documents submission, will they keep my original passport till a decision is made?

Kindly help with these two questions.

Thank you in advance.

One love
TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by vibrant99(m): 8:01pm On Nov 22, 2025
Don't say anything, submit the whole application, and your passport will be given back to you. The embassy ( VFS) will call, and you will bring it back to them

metodman:
So, what can that person say at the VFS OFFICE on Monday? I really thought they hold on to your passport until decisions are made. Just to be clear, the person is travelling to another country.
TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by vibrant99(m): 6:21pm On Nov 22, 2025
The passport won't be submitted in the first place. They can apply and travel, as long as they will return at the embassy's request.

metodman:
Hi guys, I trust you are good.

So, I have someone going to VFS to submit his application on Monday. However, the person needs to travel soon, and might not be able to submit his passport. What would be your advice?

Thank you so much
TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by vibrant99(m): 12:08pm On Nov 22, 2025
For that certificate, I think they are making money for some persons because the agents downstairs would do a quick printout of our useless acknowledgement letter from a ministry, I think this guys just do these things in Tandem.

You should apply 3 months before, not before, that's correct,

500Km, Na Yobe, you dey come?

ayodejiadetoro:
I visited the VFS center in Abuja for my South Africa visitor’s visa appointment, which I am applying for in order to undertake a postdoctoral fellowship, and I encountered two issues:

1)Upon reviewing my yellow card, I was asked to obtain a yellow card certificate from the Ministry of Health because they were unable to verify it online due to the yellow fever website being down.

2) I was told that I had booked my appointment too early. They stated that appointments should be made no more than three months before the intended travel date, whereas I had scheduled mine 3 month and two weeks. So, I was 2weeks early.

These requirements were new to me and my friends, despite having gone through the process before. None of this information is available on the VFS website. I traveled over 500 km to Abuja and paid over ₦29,000 to book this appointment

Has anyone heard or experienced this before?
TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by vibrant99(m): 1:20pm On Nov 14, 2025
What you are trying to say is the CERTIFICATE of Immunization that must be attached to your Yellow Fever Card. They ask for that now, and the Hustlers outside will charge between 7-10k to do it for you. For premium u probably choose it in your own application unknowingly.

Modupe1981:
Hello good people in the house

I and my two kids went for submission today and we were giving crazy bill's today, they said couriers is compulsory 9000naita, we were charge for premium 18000naira all multiply by three.

When did you apply for a visa? You are showing me tracking, Visa that takes at least 30 days to be approved, and this tracking can be anything and not visa-related. And what app is this? It has been suspended; call the embassy to confirm.

Most people don't know that where people avoid is the place to make it .....

If you give some people ( Nigerians) a USA visa in Cambodia to leave, they will beat you!

Nowhere is bad, people dey village inside EKITI dey make am, most replies you see here are just people who can afford nothing but data, sharing what they read online. The first time I was in Moscow, I saw white people everywhere, the kind of love I saw in Moscow, I have not had it in Nigeria.

Anywhere you want to, Just go there .

This is false. You should get your facts right. Families are still getting visas. The only difference now is that if you don't apply for your family before getting a trc, you will have to wait 2 years before you would be eligible for family reunification
You are the one who should get your facts right because you are on Nairaland arguing with someone who is in the POOL....

I will like to move with my family to Portugal, but how can I really go about it.
You can no longer move with family as a master's student until you have lived 2 years in Portugal and/or have a job paying 1020 Euros monthly at least. Most people don't know this information yet, even people studying in Portugal now have their family visa rejected in Nigeria. By 2026, Portugal will be worse than the UK in immigration of families.

TravelRe: Portugal Job Seekers Visa by vibrant99(m): 10:49pm On Jun 04, 2024
Are you replying to me based on what you heard or are you in Portugal?

No one, No Jobseeker Gets Residency in 6months..... none!

The only and fastest way to Residency is tru Study for 6 Months maximum if you meet the requirements.

Job seeker is another Manifestation of Interest but a Faster approach.

You get a job and go for your appointment, with your job contract, Then for the next 3 months, your TAX is reviewed.

This is where it gets tricky, A Portuguese employer doesn't file Taxes for you because they pay you by hand, ( they are also beating the system).

How then do you file your Taxes? You approach a lawyer and he/she uses the minimum wage to arrange your taxes and help you document them, this is also expensive.

If you get an Employer who will pay you by Your Tax account, you will earn less because he will also pay direct taxes for you than some who pays you by hand, this person who pays you by hand will pay you more.

lady25:
I really appreciate it that you are looking out for people. But it's not that bad.
1.You don't need lawyer for Job seeker visa. Maybe those that used the tourist visa do. But for jobseeker visa you don't need a lawyer
2. Once you get a job every other thing is settled.
Although getting a job can be a VERY difficult but if u have a skill and basic knowledge of portugese you are good to go. A friend got a plumbing job in two weeks. I got mine a little later. Some people get jobs some don't. You never know till you try. Everyone has different grace. But trust me the job seeker visa is the best path to getting your residency. If all goes well in less than 6 months you have your card. But like I said getting the job is most important
3. The language. Please and please learn before you come. It makes your lire easier... I wish I did. It would even help get a job speedily
4.please come with enough money to sustain you till you get a job. U don't want to sleep outside o. Come with money. Lol
TravelRe: Portugal Job Seekers Visa by vibrant99(m): 6:24pm On May 29, 2024
This Jobseeker and Job seeker wey I dey hear everywhere .... Una dey try to ask the people wey don enter Portugal with this visa, HOW FAR?

This visa is a TRAP, making life very difficult for those already on the ground.

From No JOBS to bringing a PERMIT and not Recognizing your JOBSEEKER visa .... Many things are happening inside.

Don't forget that getting the Job is not even the toughest, The TAX (3-6 months), as Portuguese employers don't file your tax for you, You have to pay a lawyer or accountant to file your invincible TAXES.

Make your inquiries oo, apart from say the Visa Rejection rate sef LOUD.

The bolded was what I replied which was straight forward, the explanation here should be what you should use to clarify yourself, ..... it wasn't even an arguement .
It is real but don’t expect any appointment openings until early February 2024, that’s if they’ll continue offering that visa type to Nigerians

YeyeBoyfriend:
We aren’t talking about VFS appointment, any appointment coming from VFS is for tourist visa applications only, we talking about work and job seekers visa appointments which you can’t get on VFS website but that of the embassy directly, please read to comprehend and not to argue

MODIFIED

find attached a screenshot of the mail I received from the embassy earlier today
TravelRe: Anyone Studying In Portugal!!!! by vibrant99(m): 5:16pm On Dec 15, 2023
The accompany visa application doesn't work that Fast, some could take as much as 3-6 months before the dependent comes out.

You can wait, or go ahead of them. they would approve it.

DARLYNBOI:
My student visa for a Master programme just got approved in November (last month) but my wife who applied along with me as a dependant is yet to receive any call from the embassy till date and I am in panic mode because we intend to leave Nigeria latest by Jan ending and we have started selling our household items.
I can't leave her alone in Nigeria because her parents are no more alive and it will definitely be dangerous to live apart because our marriage is just about 3years old.
I need someone to advise me and wish to know how student with similar experience were able to secure approval for their spouse and what is the longest period it took from experience.
TravelRe: Anyone Studying In Portugal!!!! by vibrant99(m): 1:01pm On Dec 13, 2023
This is false news, The Appointment opened at month's end, and the one for December closed on November 23rd.

These dates open anytime from ever 20th of the month for the ascending month, and it is quickly filled up within 24 hours.

So you have to be online Checking for the dates every single day on the VFS website.
