A Sponsorship letter can be written as formal letter, no need for Affidavit . The person sponsoring you would or may have an establishment here in Nigeria, let the person use the letter head of his/her company and do a note in it, it is very sturdy and would pass the litmus test... If they don't, they should put the bank account, name and possibly a line that defines the origin of the account till date. All this Affidavit have no special effect, it is seen as a common paper in their hand. This days, they don't take us too serious to consider that area of my government. Chocs: Hello skull4eva
A sponsorship letter is written and signed by the sponsor while an affidavit of sponsorship is done in court. You’re swearing before the court that the words put down are true (like with every other affidavit)
I found a sample online. Please find it attached below.
Pm seen and responded to.
Best wishes. |

This application is rather too perfect to be denied at all, i must tell you to apply almost immediately with he exact application pattern . Don't Change anything, Submit it like that straight up. A research Position is more direct and straight perfect , and You said 89%(Cum de Laude??) Don't explain anything, submit the same SHIT that was denied, unless GCMNOTES comes in early, lets see to that. ayoadefantastic: 3yrs working experience b4 MSc, finished msc in June 2020. MSc average (89) Funding; Research position (biotechnology)with AAFC. There was a research position open in the lab, she applied together with other applicants. She was picked. She proposed the project, genome editing in wheat. An area she did her msc research, she has a publication on this too. All these sounds competive and scholarly to me. Visit visa rejection was summer 2019. |

Sorry for your Rejection.... It is Typically a Migrant application, SIMPLE AND SHORTTrust me , it works for some and some fall behind too, You have the funds too, which is also a good one for you. The Tight SOP did it also contain the reason you will return to Nigeria? You can apply with the very same application that was rejected even with the kids and still get the VISA. It is not always a Problem when you receive a Rejection. Just reapply when you can, WITH THE KIDS.MyRace: Good after all,
Congratulations first and foremost to everyone who has received positive feedback. I pray everyone will get theirs!
So I got a refusal for my SP last week and the reasons were:
1. Purpose of visit 2. Family ties.
I'm female and I applied with my children. Hubby was meant to remain here. Interestingly, after so many web notes with them telling me they were working on my profile, I had been rejected since June 30 (I applied June 10). It was after the refusal that my eligibility review was updated and showed June 30.
I have requested for my GCMS notes in order to know what they are actually worried about.
Now, my questions are: 1. How do I address the "purpose of visit" ( mind you I made a very tight SOP addressing it)
2. If I decide to leave my children out of the second application, will it raise eyebrows?
A brief overview of my profile:
Chartered Accountant with and MBA Going for a Masters in Finance School fees fully paid Enough money to cover all expenses, even if the children go with me.
Thanks for your responses |

While the rejection maybe Generic, which i don't buy entirely until the GCMNOTES arrives, it is 90% going to be far from Financial assets! Lets look at this areas... 1. what is her Masters Percentage ? 2. You said she got funding from the institution, Is it Merited ? Again FUNDINGS can come from various bodies, was this funding from the institution for Merit? is it Financial assisted Funding(this rather don't have to do with your Educational quality), is it a Private Funding(i.e From Boyfriend ). 3. What is the study gap? 4. What Phd is it? An Opening or a Pure Application to Study? 5. She is Unmarried i guess, How old is she (This may not be significant, but It may clash with something you said in your application) 6. When was the Rejection for the Visit Visa? Was it simultaneously? it may be a Red Flag if spontaneous. Lets have answers to this few , ... It will help even without a Gcmnotes readily available. ayoadefantastic: Rejection Applicant's profile: PhD Alberta 29k funding Agri Food Canada MSc in China Travel history; china, kenya Rejected once for visit visa Reason for rejection;...based on purpose of visit. 2. Personal asset & financial status. Admission deferred to winter already. By the way eligibility now shows ineliginke since july 6th but got the official letter today. Pls advise on what next. Applicant is my girlfriend, I am also studying in Canada. |

Away from the others , i don't always say anything until the Gcmnotes come around , because it helps a lot. I don't think it boils down to Funds every time. How about the nature of the funds ? You have 6M, Your husband has 4M, Your MOM has 20M Why are you showing the account balance of people instead of bringing that physical money together and calling it "YOUR" money? Applications being submitted everyday makes this people to Upgrade on their scrutinizing of documents and looking at situations. What is there to get statement of Account? anybody can give you statement of account, the problem is the money inside the account , na ur own? I said it earlier, "when you submit a basic application, the VO tries to build on it".... and trust me, there is no foundation here, Just people's statement of Account,. demiiii: Reason for Rejection

First , I don't know where the idea of some one's Parents submitting AFFIDAVIT came from, but at 24 years , You parents can always stand for you anywhere in the world , from an African perspective. Whatever you submit to a VO is how he sees you, If you want to impress them , they want you to remain so, and if you are a basic applicant they want to elevate you further because you are already far too basic to be relegated.
You parents can submit a statement of account with your application or better still have the fund sent to your account and the name of the sender (most preferably a private name not a company name which outlines the initials and surnames which makes both of you, will bring it to fore .
Then there is another idea of him doing a "letter of Support" preferably with a company letter head ( don't worry about his CAC here) where he say he will be in contact and in charge of you. Thus , they can contact him. That's the reason for phone numbers and email addresses.
This things up there are not as cumbersome as your certificate , a 2.2 is actually poor today for Canada standard , Your work experience isn't an issue , you can be idle for any good reason.
What is your prospect with that PGD?
How does it help your future?
How much is the tuition? Is it really necessary spending all of that for something flimsy?
Questions that requires answers .... Answer more of questions than trying to impress the VO.
e go finally end in Praise oo

Your profile looks good Komolafeboy: Hello house.
Me too i have come with my rejection letter.
I own to to my mistakes as i knew i really didn’t do well in some aspects, however, i wish to get more advice from people on here on the next possible trajectory for my visa reapplication.
Here’s my profile:
A graduate of Psychology. 4.11 cgpa and best graduate from my dept. Got a job as a graduate assistant job in 2016 before Nysc completion coz you can’t work as a psychologist till you get some experience and go forth with your masters.
Resigned one year later and got a training offer for ship and oil rig welding in Lagos 2017/18. Upon completion i got another training offer for another welding process 2018/19. I got a job few months to completing the training in another state. Worked for 7mnths before Corona said it’s okay.
Got back to lagos in mid year and shot for Canada SP with an admission in Welding and Fabrication.
Docs submitted:
Adm letter
Professional certifications earned in Welding
Awards received from welding school
Tuition fee for the semester receipt
Bsc Statement of result
Dad’s pof 18m bal
Mine 1.3m bal
Affidavit of support
Employment letter from last work
Work ID
Dad’s work ID
2 Land docs
Screen shots from Australian schools indicating same program admitted to in Canada are not available to international students
Picture of ppe Materials required by school
Police certificate ...
My issues now is that. I was actually out of job when I applied for SP. but recently, i passed a qualification test and just awaiting medicals before job commencement. So i think i can address some issues raised. And there’s always a need for skill upgrade or else u would be on your own very soon.
Also, I recently renewed my interest in psychology and made contacts with few school lecturers. Many have accepted to accept me with funding options but am yet to apply directly to the school. Mind you, you cant practice as a psychologist till u have a minimum of Bsc but preferred PHD. So i am ultimately committing 6years to this journey if at all i go for it. There’s no terminal msc, u do it with intentions of competing phd. I already have a publication in an international journal, hence i think the reason for good response from schools I contacted.
I just need to get reviews on the best possible way to reshoot my shots and not miss target. I would appreciate everyone’s contribution |

Anyway, no need filling spaces with unnecessary mentions and dragging... I have heard you, Keep praying.
What it does to most people here is they keep throwing their monies away, why is everything about prayer associated with Money?

There are over 250 Million Nigerians.... Over 5 Million of Us have applied to go to Canada... You are only one of them, In physics.... when something works in 10 Places out of 100 Places , It is never considered a Method, It is negligible. I will stand with a Good Application over ANY PRAYERS by an Standard. There are powers, the bible says,... Manipulations of the Terrestrial powers to divert happenings, it is also a situation of life, but everyone radiates differently, start off so well first and let the other things beyond you control take care of themselves. There are just so many things you are not in control of, not even Your Visa Application. CanadaPR: I have a lot to say and share but I'll save it for another day.
Prayer does wonders and I'm a living proof.
I agree people should package their application very well but saying prayer doesn't give visas is something I'll just shake my head about. |

Do you Know one good reason Nigeria can never be a Country "YOU" will be proud of ? Because of the Sentiments that you Write about ... Take a look at the likes you garnered... because 95% of people on this page are looking for a way around something they could have just walked into, solved it or just back off when it is glaringly impossible but NO, we believe that something supernatural can change something stupid. I won't argue with BUHARI that called us lazy, we are actually lazy people as we want it the easy way, why is the sudden craze for CANADA? Answer--- Because we will be able to Remain THERE. We are that kind of people that always want to hear "don't Give up", Why actually did we give up on NIGERIA when God can possibly Support us? why the Individual growth? American that you just talked about is not even a religious country, but they call God as a "CONSCIENCE" sign , there lives is not dependent on God i can tell you, they don't even live like it. Do You know the Idea of a "GOD" was to bring SANITY amongst human? My Parish Priest when i was boy in Ilorin moved to USA in 2001, he is "GAY" now.... Because he discovered the Truth, He said. You are all thinking "GOD" because you are in a "DIRT", Nigeria stinks, you are in a place where nothing works, where you have to steal and lie to get through the simplest and basic forms of life , even FOOD and water!!! CANADA gave out over $2000 for Covid alone , how much did Nigeria give to YOU? That is why you will die to go there, you will use JUJU sef to go there, pray to go there? A BLACKMAN? When Last did a Japanese pray to get a USA visa, when LAST did someone from SINGAPORE pray to go to CANADA? This are economies that are running so well that AMERICANS and CANDIANS want to live there, why pray about it? Use ur GOOGLE and INPUT "LUXEMBOURG", No country will pay you the minimum wage that country will pay in the whole world , do you know this ? NO, because everybody wants to go to CANADA and when they get the visa it is a miracle . The only God that exist is You and your Conscience, ... Luck is Opportunity meeting preparations, anyone can have it, let us pray for Nigeria to get better not pray to leave Nigeria , it is the worst thing that will happen to us as a people. I know a lot of guys who left here with prayers , They have not attended a Christian Gathering in 3 Years, They have not even remembered to pray, The best they can do is, do an update with "GOD-IS-GOOD", everyone wants to use that God slogan to get out and forget it when they get in, a typical African Man. Until Nigeria is reshaped and revamped, You will continue to see everything as something you should pray about, Prayer is for a BLACK man, and A black Man is actually praying against themselves. Adunola20: This is a very interesting piece you wrote. Its very important to prepare a great application, rather than submit a poorly packaged application and expect a miracle.
But I like to draw your attention to a few things.
Religious beliefs are very subjective and personal, hence I will be careful in making a general conclusion about another person's experience.
You gave an example of how a man and his wife with a 'perfect situation' and your position on that is how can that be God?
Some people will ascribe that victory to God due to many reasons, for example: 1. It took God's grace, provision, favour and direction to acquire all those positions and wealth that gave them that 'perfect situation'.
2. There is a saying that you cannot judge a book by it's cover. The perfect situation you see may have many flaws that are unknown to you.
3. God is not only involved in the end product, if you choose to involve him in the process as well. Probably they involved him in the process and they saw how He helped them make good decisions about their Canadian visa application.
Wrong decisions lead to refusals. We need wisdom. God can give that through prayer.
You said the Americans make inventions and afterwards they say God bless America. I don't know your experience, it possible you have seen people who only involve God at the end or probably not involve Him at all. There are atheists who are inventing and building great things. But there are people, including Americans, who involve God in the process of the things they do or invent. Some will say God gave them the insight to do what they did.
My point is this: if someone choose to ascribe glory to God for a successful application. If you have doubt, ask him/her: What is your story? Why do you think God did it for you?
There are people who would not ascribe their success to God. It's a personal choice and we are all entitled to that.
Don't make a conclusion on another man's experience. Or belittle a person's stance because you did not have that experience.
We are all entitled to ascribe our success to whoever we choose. If you believe God did it for you, say it with confidence.
It will end in praise! |

Na the Same VO reject You? HAs nothing to do with VO,... I noticed that some applications can also Appear "OVER-ZEALOUS" You will hear people say they attached a Picture of Their "LANDED PROPERTY"(why now?).... They Attached the Picture of their Grandfather that Sent them money and they also added his Passport... Take this advice from me today, Be economical with documents ,... eventually if rejected it will fall around that reason! I have not seen a GCMNOTE that says,....."applicant talked about "this and that" but there was no correspondence or recommendation".... If you see this on your Notes, Your next application is an Approval! Engager69: Sorry about your refusal..,
Why do I feel like I know this particular VO.. |

Point of Correction, prayer don't give people visa. Can you share your profile? You got Admission into TOP school in Canada? Can someone with a 3rd Class get Admission in a School like that? what about 2.2? or at best 2.1? Can someone Who cannot afford a school of 6M , Can i Pray and apply to a school of 12M with an account balance of 5M, 3 Sponsors and no work experience? You hear american say "GOD BLESS AMERICA"? Thats the last thing they say after they build technology, Build aircraft, Build Bombs, Submarines , build schools and build hospitals and everything that life requires to work. After you are well prepared to tackle something, and you have played all necessary wings-of-play and there are no noticeable shortcomings , you Closed it up with prayer. Advice to pray is what makes someone on this platform to want to go to Canada without being readily equipped (they will come with people who made it with nothing, but how many are they?) I know someone who went to do Thanksgiving for getting a Canadian Visa .... i was at the lobby the same day with them at "VFS SHOPRITE ABUJA". the Wife is the regional Manager of one of the banks and the Husband is a General in the Army but they used Agents to package their Visa , they got the Visa and she later told me that they would have a Thanksgiving that Sunday. HOW on earth is that profile not going to get a Visa ? but they said it is God and i only Laughed. God has become shabby . There is nothing supernatural about a Visa, A rejection may even be a Spiritual direction for you from condemnation (who is thinking). My best advice is always , ...... Be well prepared , then do a prayer, Don't submit Rubbish and start praying. I applied for my study permit sometime in September. Biometrics request and background check followed immediately. I got Medical request in less than a week. I should also mention that I got admission into two top schools (masters program) within record time. I didn’t rely on how good my applications might look, but I held on to faith in God, that my case will be different. When I applied for my study permit, I prayed that my application will not exceed 1month by Gods grace, not knowing it would take far less than a month. Also for my admissions, I specified the week I would receive admission from the two schools. Lo and behold, the admissions came one day apart in that specific week. Nothing is impossible with God! This story is just tip of the iceberg of how powerfully I have experienced God. All things are possible for anyone who has faith in God. Let’s always rely on God, I promise, people would think you are doing jazz...lol Please I’m not saying don’t do the hard work oh, but don’t put your faith in your hard work. So many “perfect” applications have been rejected. My final advice - don’t just pray, be specific in your prayers, it shows your level of faith before God. Peace! |

Something hit me hard on the VO... "The applicant don't want to advance her Education in Canada"I don't have advice to give on this though, but try not to apply with this situation again, not to even adjust it..... find a totally new idea. Matildabenn1: Good evening house please I would be needing your help in criticisms and all help I can get please I would really appreciate it on how to tackle my refusal letter... I finished high school 2015 and since then I haven’t attended a university but 2019 I made up my mind to go to the university so I tried applying to USA but was denied. 2020 I then applied to study in Canada but I choose a diploma in business administration and my gcms notes came out today and here’s the outcome I was denied due to the following reasons |

The radical truth is that you can even get an approval with this same exact application that was rejected without touching a thing , but now we seem to play safe . If you are applying soon, then .... don’t change a thing on the SOA, If you are applying later on , yes you can source for funds anywhere it will be accessible and ultimately make it known to the next person reading it that you had to go out of ur way to get money. I want to be in this ur success story , it is really worth it. skull4eva: Thank you vibrant 99. Actually I Had already deferred to winter 2021 before the comments started coming in. My principle is while awaiting another opportunity dont throw away the one at hand. Mcgill is a good school and highly competitive. I have started mailing new supervisors but pending their responses i wish to know whether if i proceed to submit a new SOA of 8m after i have paid 10k cad tuition i will overcome the VO concerns on finance? Things would get better am certain. Just answer me in all honesty. If i wont stand a chance of approval with that let me know |

Basic schools, we will say Averagely ... PhD fees is 8k CAD, if i know anyone who didn’t get funding and got admitted I will press them on to go ahead with it. There are just too many opportunities waiting for you but because it is dressed in work clothes , we run away. People read too many internet blogs and write ups, and you just wonder, PhD can take you anywhere in this entire world and render you opportunities in the most unlike places ever imagined. A friend left for PhD in Canada in 2012, and when he got there , he was happy he has finally made the Canadian trip until he started seeing a different perspective to it , He applied for a Job in academia in a University in Qatar , and he was invited , he passed interview. He is currently the head of his department at 37yrs, earns in Pounds Sterling that someone in Canada only prays for, and he just uploaded a pics on on his I.G saying “Qatarian”.... You don’t know where you are heading but you some how have a picture of your destination, it may actually be a “Lay-By”.... the bigger picture can even be Singapore, Thailand ..... Australia , UK (funny enough, I have a friend who got a Job in UK and left Canada)... Just work hard at ur education first . Osemigho: Most schools for PhD is less than 8k? I beg to differ. Most Canadian school that charge 8k for yearly PhD tuition will likely charge same amount for a masters research in the same program or school. If I am wrong, please provide evidence.
Lots and lots of advantage with PhD? What are the advantages for the student and not the school? How does these pros outweigh the opportunity cost?

You need to see how I religiously read through your comment , I must be a Christian for that singular act . Anyway I didn’t know it was McGill before I talked about the schools in Canada being 1000th ratings , but come to think about it, less than 10 schools made the 100 Mark in Canada to the World . Canada is hot-cake now brotherly , am sure there are Indians and Chinese that got into this program or better still Iranians, they would be considered first even though our brother may beat their standard, it is all about Us, Trust me . 2nd Tier 3rd Tier Universities will march it up to him and render him almost a 100% funding with almost an unbelievable stipend , why ? They are like 1134th position in the world , they need to buy that standard. But I will insist he get his course done at McGill , I have this faith about this particular situation . If you do PhD in a lower institution , you are almost going to be looking at working for them or a lower institution, you can’t get into a bigger institution if You did PhD at MUn and wants to work at McGill you are in your own, but you can come in from an institution in Netherlands that is like ranked 150th in the world because they need your experience , .... This are basic experience not entirely what should be adhered to . Akannitommy: @vibrant99
Your argument is valid but I pitch tent with @fratermathy on this. The moniker has a chance at getting funded if he alters his strategy a bit and avoids desperation. If he can overcome these two, he would be able to get full benefit of his profile.
My point is MCGills ranks in the top 3 in Canada consistently and that will remain same for decades to come. It also maintains a global ranking in the top 50 and will continue to pull it weight for years to come. Hence, for an applicant to get in at all speaks to their competitive profile. Therefore, the problem I see hear is that the department took more qualified applicants in this cohort who have been offered all available funding. However, if the candidate enrolls there is a good chance he/she will get funding in subsequent semester or years but that is if he gets the visa. So the first obstacle is to get that and one good way to do this with little stress is to apply to programs that has better fit to his profile and maybe rank slightly lower than MCGills and therefore less competitive. I argue that if he had applied to multiple programs with the same profile that got him/her an unfunded offer at MCGills, the chances of getting a full or partial funding in other programs elsewhere is very HIGH.
Delay is not to deny! I suggest the moniker defer until fall 2021 or even risk forfeiting the current offer and repackage his application to 3 to 4 other programs. If he is so keen on MCGills, he can inform the supervisor and the admission committee that he would be applying to external scholarships and other programs with a view to get funding. A PhD offer is not a gift but an acknowledgement of your preparation and potentials, so get the best offer possible for your skills. If he/she calms down and present a funded offer in 6-months time then apply without family, I am 99.99% sure the SP will be granted.
NB: The value PhD full funding averages about N30m equivalent. Who doesn't want free money? I would wait one more year to improve my chances of such an opportunity. My two cents though. I know people who got multiple funded PhD offers and found it difficult to decide on which one to pick. It was no longer the program with the best funding but then other sentimental factors came in too. In fact in one of those case, 2 schools (NYU and MIT in the US) offered the candidate 50% each of cost of flight ticket to come visit the campus, meet with students and professors to enable her make a firm decision. Not tales by moonlight oh! I was involved in the whole story. So think calmly and optimize your value.

You came in strong and also informed , but let’s drive this way.... The VO isn’t actually disturbed because he doesn’t have funding , he worried about the well being of his family going with him, if could get himself a decent life if he applied and later sent for them after 6months . Funding is good and great, but maybe not everyone would get funded , I wonder how he didn’t get funding for that grade? 5/7 he said ? That’s huge but maybe how it reflected in his compulsory courses also matters , but either way .... I insist he gives it another shot standing his grounds but maybe a little lighter than he was in the beginning .... Money go come! fratermathy: On the average, McGill charges around C$18,000 per year for PhD for international students. However, I agree that most schools keep PhD tuition low.
The issue is not even about tuition or paying for it. If you're applying for a study permit as a PhD student without funding, the VO will ask MANY QUESTIONS and that alone can influence a negative decision. This is without prejudice to those who have TETFund or some other external scholarships or funding. However, in general, VOs prefer internal funding or Canadian based funds for PhD applicants. |
