Well, for you to have resorted to using such contemptuous rudeness in insulting people (of opposition) who are old enough to be your father and grand-father, it just shows that you are a big time nonentity: only an exorbitantly unreasonable person will like to have a rude fela like you and LIKE your disrespectful comment.

Hello Nairalanders, while filling my mum's visa form a mistake was made, we didn't include my sister's name as dependent. Payment has not been made yet, how do we withdraw this application or do we go ahead and do a new one without completing the former?
If you can't go back to edit it, then you can abandon the form and fill in a new one: there is no rules broken in doing that, besides, your abandoned application will be invalid and will not be retained in the system

Hello House,
Would like to know, for a person going to the UK on a tier4 study visa (specifically for Postgraduate studies), for a programme that commences by late September, when is the latest time I can apply for Visa?
Got some professional programmes I'm currently running..don't wanna apply for the visa till I am done with them cos they need to reflect on my application.
Such application might take 4 weeks or more: it is generally encouraged to give adequate time to allow the visa office enough time to process the application as insufficient time could mean visa refusal.
I'll suggest that you give at least 6 weeks to your travel date even though your visa could be processed earlier. My opinion...

Kudos Good ppl, am asking this on behalf of my sister. She has a valid UK visa for more that 6months after returning home but she can not re-use it due to some personal reasons and the type of visa , now she want to apply for a tourist/visiting visa. Do you think it will be granted or she should wait till the recent visa expired. Note the old visa is on expired old passport.
If a special category visa, or any regular visa is issued with a single entry validity, then, the visa is automatically expired once it has been used even if the expiration date has not ran out. So, she is good to make a fresh application.
Note: In Schengen territory, it is not allowed to apply for two visas within 6 months, an applicant must wait for the previous visa to completely run out, and if the visa is shorter than 6 months, then he must wait for 6 months to elapse before making a fresh application.

Hi all, I am new here. Planning on traveling to the UK soon with my hubby and toddler. Most of my queries have already been answered on the previous pages. However, I will like your thoughts on a few issues. I travelled to the UK once in 2010 for 6 days. At the time I only remember mentioning 2 friends I had in London. Just remembered, my sis and her family were invited by a cousin 2years ago, they spent 2 weeks with him. Also, asked my dad who travels frequently to the uk on work related trips and vacations and he says he and my mom acknowledge this cousin on their application. Truth be told we know a number of friends and distant relatives in the UK and I don't see the point mentioning people I am not necessarily close to and probably won't see on the trip. I do not want it to seem funny that I do not acknowledge him since others in my family do. Do I mention him on the form this time?will it be a problem since I didn't the last time? I am hoping the fact that it is a cousin and not a primary relationship like mom,dad or siblings will help.

This time we are going the hotel booking route...I have noticed that location is key. We are booking in Stratford, I feel that should be fine.

Our budget is 6000usd, it is below hubby's monthly salary and we have much more in savings. I hope we are on track so far.

It is the first visit for hubby and my son but we have visited the US and Dubai together . Hubby has also been to France,UAE and Belgium on business trips. He has obtained the uk visa 2ce but didn't use it but I have read here that it isn't going to be a problem.

Sorry for the long stories smiley, I am looking forward to the trip already.

Thanks.
There is a difference between Neglect and Lie, it is not a big deal for not mentioning your cousins' names since they are not your immediate family members (like Mother, Father, Brothers, Sisters, Children, Spouse or Fiance). There are those who have 20 cousins in the UK, should there be a problem if they failed to mention all of them in their application form?

How does this ridiculous story explain the contradiction in the upper quote; the discrepancy between your Dad's declaration of 3 children and your Mom's declaration of 4 children?
You guys must really be thinking that Visa Officers are very stυpid to have come up with this ridiculous child's story that holds no water.
If you ask me, all these smart attempts could get you banned, that's if you haven't already been banned.

If the company offers me an employment now and then we reapply for the visa, i'm thinking it'll look suspicious to the ECO that they had to wait till after the refusal to do that.
No, it won't look suspicious, things are easier when done orderly.
The company can write a declaration that it was an oversight that they did not state their intention to offer you a position in the company once your training has been accomplished. This should help.

Hello everyone, I've been a passive follower of this thread and i must commend the work being done out of their good hearts by Justwise, vicjustice and co. I have a challenge concerning travelling to the UK and ur candid advice is urgently needed.

I'm a recent young graduate and currently unemployed. As u may or may not know d federal govt thru NCDMB is trying to improve local content participation in Oil and gas buisness in Nigeria. So, i was selected by an oil servicing company (i'll refer to them as DCompany) that won a contract to develop an oil field in nigeria for a 2 year training in their office in UK. According to d terms of the contract they hav with d govt, they must train 4 Nigerians in oil&gas engr in UK of which i'm one of them. However, when we applied for Uk 6 months business visitor Visa we were refused entry clearance. This is what d ECO said in d refusal letter:

"I acknowledge that you intend to undertake training in the Uk and that DCompany will cover the costs related to your visit. Whilst i am satisfied that they are in a position to do so, it is the intentions of the applicant that are paramount. I am not satisfied on the balance of probabilities that you meet all of the requirements of paragraph 46G of immigration rules.

You have stated that you are unemployed; however there is no further evidence as to how you are currently supported in Nigeria. Furthermore you have not indicated any dependent family residing with you in Nigeria or any evidence of assets you may have. Because of all this, I am not satisfied on the balance of probabilities that your personal and financial circumstances are such that you'll be encouraged to leave the UK at the end of your visit.

There is no satisfactory evidence that you will be offered any employment upon the completion of the training by DCompany or any evidence of your future plans.

Your right of appeal is limited to the grounds of......"

This is the 2nd time we'll be refused visa to go for this training. At first we applied for 2 years and was refused, 2nd attempt we applied for 6 months. Both business visitors. DCompany said since they're only meant to train not employ that is what they want to do.
House please, what will u advice? I'm beginning to think maybe we're applying for the wrong class of visa or can we appeal d decision?
The position of the ECO is understandable. Though, as a student/trainee, (if sponsored by your own family) you are not supposed to be subjected to the scrutiny of your personal circumstances, but as a person who is being sponsored by a Company, you are expected to have something to return to Nigeria for, and the most viable thing is the availability of employment that your sponsoring company will provide for you. If your company is sponsoring you to travel abroad for training, but they are not offering you any employment after that, then, of what benefit is your training to the company?
Now, the problem does not lie on you, but on the company that is responsible for your sponsorship, if they can make a job available for you or at least, make a documented statement to this effect, then, your application will most likely be successful.

Sorry but I do not see any grounds that would allow him asylum. He might delay the process for a few days but that's all.

At point of entry he has done something to attract attention and they have looked closer at him and been unhappy.
How long was his planned stay and what was the reason?
£580-00 will not last more than a few days paying hotel bills and feeding, this may be the problem.
You are right, removal may be quick as the Immigration Authority already has grip of his Passport, otherwise, it would have taken ages... We are talking about how he can avoid imminent deportation, so, a request for asylum is the answer: who knows, he might be lucky like many people before him

Exactly. that was what we thought as well. but he provided all the documents required before he got his visa. C of O. Landed properties, marriage certificate and his child's birth cert just to prove his coming back. but he didnt carry along any of the documents with him yesterday. do u think he should have gone with it or just leaving it here in the country was right? is there any risk pertaining to it if he carries the docs?

what advice can you render? how should he go about it?
His Mum might collapse if he is bn sent back.
The only way to elude imminent deportation is to request for asylum.
I recommend that you tell his people to advice him to verbally request to be allowed to remain in the UK to seek asylum: he has the rights to make this request which must be allowed by law abiding immigration officers.

sorry about the refusal, i think there is still hope, its possible that your mum had a child before getting married to your dad, its also possible dat ur mum added 1 more child after ur dads application "years ago" (depending on her age though), since u stated that the ECO confirmed that your documents were the best, you can re-apply at anytime with a letter explaining why your dad has 3 children and your mum has 4, you should know better.
anyways, dats my opinion, the guru's in the house (Justwise, Vicjustice, worry359) will know better.
Nothing left for me to add, you've said it all.

one thing that hasnt been answered. does it make any difference if he took the documents he used to apply along? does it have any risk involved?
He doesn't have to take the documents along except he needs to prove something. Also, there is no risk in taking the documents except something is wrong with them.
