babyspice: Great topic @vic. ,, ustice. It's good to take the mystique out of the process. I usually stick my return ticket in my passport so they see my return dates themselves when asked. Eye contact is also good too.Don't be deceived, immigration officers aren't necessarily asking these questiongs to find the answers, but rather to test you for inconsistency, they can see many of the answers in their computer system |
kalamayat: Noted, please what about residential permit holders. Thanks!A person who really holds a residence permit do not need to ask this question, so, I suspect that you are intending to impersonate a genuine residence permit holder. Well, in many cases, you won't be asked much questions, but these basic questions may be asked: Where do you live In? Where are you coming from? How long were you away? The way you answer these basic questions and your body language would either grant you entrance or call for more investigative questions: and in the case of more investigative questions, you would be caught. |
bakandow11: sir/ madam my own case is a bit different so please i need clearification. am presently in d uae saving heavily to try to cross to d u.s or canada i really cant tell if its gonna b from here or will have to get back to naija bt d main issue is dis presentation of account papers. Are you migrating, visiting, studying or what? |
Amosiye: Pls any one with an ideal of what an immigration lawyer can charge for appeal. I mean the amount(cost) price. EGOLE? Thanks for swift response plsDo you really think that you need an immigration lawyer to plead you case in appealing a visa refusal? Well, what category of visa are we talking about? Why not seek free advice here? |
Yahyabutt: Dear Vicjustice!I explained time and again the reason i think your visa refusal is justifiable. If your brother is going to sponsor your travel and education abroad, then, he must need to prove that he is indeed your brother; his financial circumstances would be looked into; his sources of income should be verifiable; he must be rich in a way that spending such huge amount of money to sponsor your foreign education will not have much impact on his financial situation etc. |
Now, anyone who has any experience with (unusual) questions that are not mentioned here may contribute |
Have you been granted a visa and you do not know what to expect at the port of entry? Are you getting a bit anxious, nervous or curious about the possible questions that you might face on arrival? Do you feel the need to know some of the likely questions that may be fired at you? If so, take your time to go through these to help you prepare yourself for the real thing. Know that questions may come in different form or pattern depending on many factors, but still, they are usually in line with these ones: so, it is handy to get familiar with them. FOR TOURIST OR GENERAL VISIT: What is your purpose of coming today? How long are you staying for? Where would you be staying at? Who are you staying with? What would you be doing in the country? What would you be seeing? By what means would you be transporting yourself from your accommodation to your places of interest? Are you going to be shopping as well? How do you intend to support yourself? How much money have you got to sustain your purposes? Do you have any credit card or the likes? Is any one else assisting you financially? What do you do in your country? Do you have any contact in this country? What would you be returning to your country for? You're welcome to the country. (Stamp on Passport). Or, "unfortunately your visa will be cancelled and you would be returning with the next available flight to Lagos". Remark: Up to 30% of travelers with tourist visas are stopped at the port of entry if questioned or interrogated FOR SPOUSE: What is your purpose of coming to the country today? How long are you staying for? Where would you be staying at? Who are you staying with? (Now the Spouse picture comes in): What does your husband/wife do? Remark: More than 95% of people with Spouse visas are allowed in: it takes a serious misrepresentation, or a gross abuse of rights by a spouse, or a security threat, or health risk for a spouse to be stopped. FOR STUDENT: What is your purpose of coming to the country today? How long are you staying for? Where would you be staying at? Who are you staying with? What would you be doing in the country? (At this point, the Student issues come in): What school is that? Can i see the school's admission letter? (In some occasions...): Please, come with me, i'd need to make some verifications. ******Note: The verifications could take anything from 5 minutes to 3 days especially if you arrived on a Friday afternoon when clerical offices are closed, in this case, you may be kept in a "holding room" pending when their calls, or emails, or faxes are responded to. It is reasonable for a Student Visa holder to make his trip during week days.****** Who is financially supporting your education? Do you intend to take up employment to assist yourself? How many hours do you intend to work? Remark: It is unheard of that a legitimate student traveler who got his visa in a genuine way is deported at the Port Of Entry, but if you are one who managed to out-smart the embassy, then you need to be concerned at the Port Of Entry because, you may be caught and banned. FOR FAMILY VISIT: What is your purpose of coming to the country today? How long are you staying for? Where would you be staying at? What would you be doing in the country? Who are you staying with? (Then, the Family issue comes in): Where do they live in? Are they aware that you are coming today? Are you bringing any native or traditional food stuff with you? Do you have anything that you need to declare? May i have their contact number? (Calls may be made if deemed necessary): What do you do in your country? What would you be returning to your country for? Remark: Unlike a Tourist or a General Visitor visa holder, Family Visitor visa holder is one travelling with the rights of the family member(s) who is inviting him, and therefore, he is given rights and may not be stopped without reasonably compelling cause FOR BUSINESS TRAVEL: What is your purpose of coming to the country today? How long are you staying for? Where would you be staying at? Who are you staying with? What would you be doing in the country? May i see your business (invitation) letter? (Websites may be checked): Remark: Genuine Business travelers do not normally face many questions. www.babefishing.com, the ideal Nigerian free dating site. Click now: www.babefishing.com |
SashaPride: Thanks for the heads up.In your unsuccessful application, did you apply for your own visa individually, i mean, did you do it separately from your Partner's application? If so, this is definitely a refusal owing to your unemployment status. But if you applied with your Partner and with your son (who represents the bond of the both of you), you should be eligible for your partner's sponsorship. You can take all these measures that you intend to do, they will help. And as for your intention to add your own bank statement... well, it would represent a measure of responsibility in your part to have your own financial substance no matter how small it is, it would help. Just ensure that the both of you have satisfying reasons to want to return at the end of your visit. |
SashaPride: Hi. SashaPride: Update! With my understanding of your circumstances as explained, i don't seem to observe the real reason why your applications were refused, except perhaps there are indeed discrepancies between the stated amount that your "partner" earns and the actual documentation of the earnings. Address the discrepancies and re-apply: and if you think there is need to explain something, you can add the explanatory letter, Remember to KISS the script. KISS = Keep It Short and Simple |
Dijanbala: First refusal was in 2012, and it was because she stated she was a student but did not provide all the necessary documents to prove she was in full time education, and she choose a particular area of london (on the advice of some agent) but did not demonstrate why she choose the area for her wedding shopping (the application stated she wanted to go for her wedding shopping and a visit) and also stated she did not know anyone. Second application was refused because they did not believe her uncle whom was sponsoring her visit and shopping was really her uncle and if he would really sponsor the trip, and that she had no income in nigeria. Third refusal reason was very similar to the second adding to the fact that she couldnt prove her uncle is really her uncle and his financial statements and documents submitted were not sufficient. fourth refusal was in the same year 2012 in october; this is when I came into the picture as they have been doing the applications without any input from my end. Fourth application was refused because all the supporting documents submitted were scanned copies so they could not be certain they were authentic, and they picked on the point that she initially claimed she knew no one in the uk. This last one was refused last week, and the reason was that she has no strong economic or financial ties in nigeria so they are not satisfied she will return after her visit. thank u. sorry its long winded. No her husband can not afford to pay for her trip hence why her uncle wanted to pay for her to come visit with us. thank u once again. With all these displays of desperation and discrepancies with misinformation, and also fact-concealings, altogether with the non-original documents, are you sure that she has not been deemed as a fraudulent applicant using deceptions? The scanned documents might even have been tampered otherwise, why didn't she provide the original? Apart from not meeting the requirements, she also needs to be concerned that she might have been banned. Read more here: https://www.nairaland.com/967110/main-reasons-many-refused-visas |
Yahyabutt: Dear Vicjustice!I read your narration which is more or less an detailed explanation of the same queries that you posted earlier. To be honest, I do understand your points and I am aware of your kind of circumstances as such also exist in Nigeria... But then again, the rules are the rules, explaining the reasons that you did not meet the requirements for the visa in your previous application can not help: no explanation would be acceptable to legitimize the cash-in-hand method of salary payment: also, your place of work would be searched for in Google, and no explanation can justify it if nothing comes up. As I can see, your circumstances are not suitable for the visa application, therefore, your hope should be on your brother if he meets the conditions |
nairaman66: All these companies are international flight carrier with busy schedules to major cities of the world!"The prayer of the ungodly is an abomination" says the Bible, God abhors those who only pray to him while in a frightening situation, those who go back to their usual evil ways when things seem fine. God requires repentance of every one in order for the person to dwell in his protective shadow: then, he shall confidently say: "the lord is my strength and my refuge..." |
george31: Hello House,You can only make an appeal if you have the full rights, limited rights is not good enough. |
beejaybida: Hello, VicJustice. i am back to tell you the outcome is a Student Visitor Visa for me and Tourist Visas for my wife and kid. Thanks for your constructive criticism, i know you meant well even as i was fairly certain you got the advice wrong. Justwise, Thanks alot as always. This is the 3rd time your advice has helped me and mine. God bless you guys here for all you do for applicants.Well, congratulation for being able to pull it through, this is in line with the saying that "every application is treated in its own merit": it doesn't always go well with most applicants in similar situation. By the way, it was my opinion that i expressed, it doesn't represent the official regulation of the authority |
nuraig: Okay. Thank you. Maybe another time tho. With the sponsorship of your own parents who have gained much credibility from the UK immigration, your chance is great if things are done well, and if you are able to satisfy the Visa Officer that your HOD's letter is irrelevant. But if they deem it necessary, then, there would be an outright refusal |
nuraig: My parents are footing the bills. 6 months tourist visa. Duration of visit is 2 weeks. The introduction letter is the only thing missing in an otherwise perfect set of documentsThe documents would not be perfect if this particular letter is missing... As a student, you would need the approval of your department's authority to be allowed to travel abroad during an academic section |
nuraig: I have all the necessary documents required. Of all my family members(immediate family), i am the only one to have gone to the UK once. all others have gone a minimum of 2 times. My dad goes every 6 months, my mum every year. They have never been denied any visa application. But i am about to aPply for VISA and i do not have an introduction letter as my HOD refused to grant me one due to unknown circumstances. this are the list of documents i have with me supporting my education in school! Please, specify your question(s). Is that for tourist visa? By the way, who is footing the costs of the application and the trip? |
oseiwe: Peckham is already a yoruba / Nigerian village, even the cops are scared to go there. It is a shame to see how many LIKES that this unreasonable comment is generating from apparent Yorubas themselves: a comment that suggests that the Yorubas are ungovernable. If the build-up of a Yoruba village means a terrifying thing for the Police, what does that say of the Yoruba people? I am neither Yoruba nor Igbo, but I can arguable say that the Yorubas are some of the most tolerant of the Nigerian people |
AceMiss: Hello Justwise and other gurus in the house. Please i desperately need you help. I just paid for my visa application and submitted it,my appointment has been confirmed and i have printed all relevant documents needed for submission on Wednesday. I was going through my printed application and that was when i realized i had made a mistake on the expiration date of my last visa(i put 23 May 2014 instead of 23 Feb 2014). Kindly advice me house on what can be done to rectify this mistake considering the fact that the application has been submitted and my appointment is on Wednesday (3rd Sept) and i can not re apply for later because i will be unavailable from Friday(5th Sept). Please help me my people,i need help fast. You should be fine, the error is trivial and understandable especially as it is clear that it was not a deceptive attempt, the visa officer can even correct that for you. You can ignore it or add a note if you like. Cheers |
ESULAALU: Now let's set the record straight. Bolded number 1, even a registered oisc immigration advisor would never refer to themselves that way. You have offered useful advice to people, keep it that way. Let people do the praises, which of course happens ever so often, don't start blowing your own trumpet please except of course you work directly with the British embassy or home office, only then can you confidently call yourself a veteran although I would have imagined expert or professional would be better suited to describe yourself in such situation. Now i see that i am actually dealing with confused beings |
Yahyabutt: To VicjusticeI regret to disappoint you by declining your request for my email address. Please, understand that whatever assistance that i give to you in secret would be beneficial to you only, but if made open, it would be beneficent to many others in similar situation; so, i prefer to correspond with you in this open forum: and besides, it is to your advantage to have others knowledgeable members make contributions in need be. Now, concerning the reasons for your Irish visa application refusal, i would say that the decision is justifiable as you circumstances does not seem to technically fulfil the required standard. It is a complete flop to have applied for a visa without a bank statement: the payslips that you presented is not as important as the bank statement that you failed to provide. By the way, you are not required to have a job in order to apply for a student visa, therefore, to even have presented a (cash-in-hand) job as a proof of obligation is another mistake: there is no amount of explanation that would make sense to the embassy without proper documentations. Now, your brother is qualified to be your sponsor if you can satisfy the embassy that he is indeed your blood-brother, not cousin, uncle or other extended family relative. Please, refer to the original article of this thread and ensure that your brother (who you said is taking the sponsor's role) meets the requirements. |
Veeme: Hi Vicjustice (sorry if not spelt correctly), or anyone please...! Veeme: Hi worry359,On the ground of "change of circumstances", the embassy can actually refuse the application if a (time sensitive) document of important value is out of date before they reach decision. |
KissIkebe: does admin review have special rules + requirements like appeal? made a research but cant see where d rules about who cn apply 4 it or who cant apply r writtenMy point is not about who can request or who can not request for administrative review (i never mentioned this aspect in my post), my grievance was not because she said her opinion in an attempt to counter a point that i didn't even mention in my comment, but rather the attitude was humiliating. I have had some disagreements and even debating arguments with Justwise, and he too has had disagreements with several of my opinions, but never a time did either of us try to humiliate the other in an attempt to prove superiority: there are honourable ways to disagree with others (especially those who are considered by many as veterans) without embarrassing them with such humiliating response as quoted: Indeed, i consider the below comment as rude, arrogant and provocative especially when i did not make such claim... 3sha4lyf: Sorry, general visit visa applicants CANT ask for administrative review. Tx. |
3sha4lyf: I Guess you didn't read the question very well. You then gave a response that assumes that general visit visa can actually request admin review, which is WHAT THE POSTER WAS, among other questions, ASKING to clarify. From the very moment that you joined this forum, you began to get on people's necks, you even picked on Justwise and Solomonwise etc. I remember even offering you an apology when you rant endlessly of how you were imaginary victimized. Yet, you still don't seem to understand that this is a community forum that requires everyone to coexist in cordiality, and to communication their differences in respectful manners. You are a female, an African at that, your lack of respect and your arrogant manners in correspondences are things that you should be concerned about. To be honest, from the radical way that you started, i knew that it was only a matter of time before you attack me: you just remind me of a dedicated trouble-maker and i won't be surprised to know that you are she. Well, Nairaland is a place where any body can hide behind computer's keyboard and rain insult to those that they would respect in real life. So, enjoy, Miss Tricia |
ESULAALU: See bolded? On the contrary that aptly describes you.Do you really need to hide behind your proxy username to attack me? |
3sha4lyf: Sorry, general visit visa applicants CANT ask for administrative review. Tx.Where in my post did i mention that applicants for General visit visa can or can not request administrative review? You seem to behave as if you are in a knowledge competition with everyone, and your arrogant manners are provocative. |
vivy1: Ok, thanks but how long can one wait before reapplying? There is no waiting time, you can re-apply as soon as you wish or as long as you want |
omoba88: @vicjustice kudos to you sir... I need your help with a uk tourist visa application. My inlaw invited me over for his graduation ceremony coming up early october. I'm self employed, married, I'm using my personal savings account for my application and I already stated on my application that I and my wife are expecting out first child and that I intend to spend a week there in the u.k and also shop for a few baby stuffs. I have a company I registered last year november... can I write a cover letter for myself using my company letter head? Do I need to include a proof that I'm expecting a child soon? Do I need anything else from my wife apart from her letter of consent? Someone advised I put her statement of account becausr she works in a bank but she's not my sponsor.... pls helpOf what relevance is your wife's statement of account to this application if she is neither traveling with you nor is she sponsoring the trip or part of it? What baby stuff are you going to be shopping for in the UK that you can't get in Nigeria? Judging from the unsatisfying reasons that you want to travel, it is more than likely that your application would result in a refusal as you don't seem to have a satisfying reason to want to go to spend a whole lot of money on an intercontinental trip to the Uk, why not plan a proper visiting or tourism purpose? |
vivy1: Please I have some questions, I would appreciate your contribution a lot.Administrative review (unlike appeal) is neither given nor made by rights, and unlike appeal in which you have the rights to contest a decision, administrative review is only a REQUEST for reconsideration: with administrative review, you are PLEADING for reconsideration, buI with appeal, you are CHALLENGING a decision based on your rights. Now, anyone can make this request, but i don't often encourage it especially in respect of tourist visa application rather, I encourage the correction of previous errors and reapplication in due time |
