The immediate past ondo state commissioner for Information, Mr Ranti Akerele has raised an alarm over the hacking into his MTN phone number by some unknown persons thus leading to the circulation of some anti-government messages purported to have been sent by him.
According to a press release today signed by him in Akure, Akerele wondered what could be the motive behind this evil act other than to cause discord and pitch him against the State government and some political figures mentioned in the messages.
His words,"even the blind in this state cannot pretend not to hear or the dumb not to see the massive public acceptance of Mr governor,Dr Olusegun Mimiko's second term ambition due to his unparalleled achievements in the past three and a half years of which I was part and still a participant in different capacities.
It is sad that at this stage in the life of the Sunshine State when well- meaning people are working tirelessly to measure that Dr. Mimiko administration takes it to the next level, some political jobbers could still harbour the intention of destroying others character through dubious means which cannot stand the test of time.
"I wish to alert the good people of Ondo State that some unprogressive elements and agents of discord have resorted to the unlawful act of hacking into their targets phone numbers and be wary of such messages purported to have been sent by the true owners of the addresses.
Akerele therefore urged the security agencies to step up their surveillance activities in putting perpetrators of such acts under check in order not to heat up the polity especially at this crucial period in the political life of the state

***24 Year Old Cynthia Osokogu left Abuja in late July 2012 (according to reports, on the 22nd of July 2012). The post-graduate student of Nasarawa State University was a clothing retailer and had travelled to Lagos to purchase new stock.
Cynthia had been chatting with some new "friends" on Facebook for a few months. In the course of their conversations, they developed a friendship and a level of trust. These young men were also university students, they promised to host Cynthia when she came to Lagos.
There is speculation that they paid for her plane ticket and promised to pay for her hotel as well.
The two young men picked Cynthia up from the airport in Lagos and drove her to a hotel in Festac. At the hotel, they tied her up, robbed her of all the money she brought to shop for her business and strangled her to death. They then left the hotel and quickly deleted her from their Facebook friend list to remove any trace of their connection.
The hotel found her body and, since her ID cards and mobile phone had been stolen, they could not identify her or call friends and family. Her body was deposited in a morgue in Lagos. All this time, her family and friends were searching for the girl.
At some point, one of the culprits accidentally answered Cynthia's phone and the call was traced to Festac. Therefore, her missing person's police report was submitted to the Area E Command in Festac. This enabled her family to find her body in the morgue, and also led them to the hotel.
Using CCTV from the hotel, the killers were identified. According to reports, these two young men are university students who have now confessed that they killed Cynthia and she is their sixth victim - the gang reportedly specializes in luring unsuspecting young women, robbing them of their possessions before killing them.
Though there is speculation that their motive was ritualistic, it appears that it was greed and their main goal was to rob and kill. The pharmacist who supplied the drugs used on Cynthia and hotel staff have also been arrested. According to the police spokesperson Ngozi Braide, "Six people were arrested on Sunday over the incident and investigations are ongoing". As you can see, Cynthia is one of Nigeria's numerous social media generation girls (with BB and a facebook account), this unfortunately led to her demise

Getting the venue for the MTN project fame West Africa season 5 Gala nite was a little bit difficult for me. I got to the exit gate of Lekki phase1 and I saw white Commercial buses packed. I walked up to a man standing by the roadside.
"Excuse me sir" I said. " Yes madam. He replied. Please, I am heading to Funke Zainab Usman's Street at Ultima studio. I quickly replied.
He looked at me for awhile and said. "Are you for the MTN gala nite?". With a sign of relief I smiled."exactly sir"I replied. "Then, that's why I am here. We shall take a bus together to the venue".The young man replied gently. After a while, we boarded a cab to Ultima studio and behold, the much anticipated talent hunt show of the successful music talents who have been admitted into the MTN Project Fame West Africa music academy for the fifth season at the ultima studio with the usual opening gala ceremony was about to start, we both rushed inside the main gate of the studio. There was a Yellow carpet and MTN paparazzi at on side of the venue.
The crew were dressed in black T-shirt branded with MTN logo and blue Jean.
The security was tight, my big hand was checked and screened twice before I could finally admitted into the hall.
As I stepped into the studio, the Ushers welcomed me warmly and said,"pls,Switch off your phones". "Damn",I screamed within me. My phones, I will, but not my BB,hell NO. So I entered and I was targeting to sit at the middle but I couldn't get a sit there but I sat by the side of the big studio.
Minutes later, I heard a voice from behind"hello beautiful, can you please help my little girl sit by your side?. I looked back and behold,it was an handsome looking young man, I smiled and quickly sighed. The pretty girl sat beside me and we became friends after some minutes." Are you my mummy's sister" she asked. Oh No, I am not. I am your new friend. I replied."You

Tonia dad came back with a bottle of water and a drug. He gave it to me and without questioning him, I collected it and swallow.
He placed his hands on my stomach and said,"Dear,you will be fine"
I couldn't talk, I just nodded agreed. Deep within me, I felt a little pain but pretends to be okay. This guy must be a medical practitioner.
Tonia was still placing her hands at my back and she rested her head on my lap.
After a while,I started feeling better and alive again. Tonia dad exchanged his seat with the guy sitting my side and I have him sitting with me and watching over me.
The host of the event came on stage and invited the judges to their seat and Speaking on the fifth season of the show, General Manager, Consumer Marketing, MTN, Kola Oyeyemi said "the time has come once again to empower another set of West African youths in line with our brand philosophy of "enriching lives".
The show started with comedian "Elenu" cracking the rips of the audience while await the signal from the production manager to start the recording of the show.
Elenu made everyone laugh for about an hour and later, the show started with the Signature tune of the MTN project fame west Africa and everyone was happy. The host was announced and here comes James Benjamin and Adora
There is a twist in the production as this year's show will be having singer Ade Bantu as an addition to Femi Aderibigbe, popularly known as 'Kwame', Ghanaian international singer and songwriter, Bibie Brew, Nigerian singer, Nomoreloss and producer, Tayo Ibitoye known as TY Mix as the judges on the show. The Faculty members are Principal Joke Silva, Music Director, Ben Ogbeiwi, Dance Instructor, Kaffy and Voice Coach, Dupe Ige.
Winner of last season, Monica Ogah encourages the contestants to gear up and be at the top of their game because there has to be a winner of the fifth season. Letting them in on her winning tactics for last season she said "I believed in God and I also believe in the talent he gave me".
She entertained the crowd with her 2 singles.
This show has produced four winners in four seasons. This is season 5 which means that season's 5 winner is among the contestants to be unveiled at the opening gala."

Students and alumni of Adeyemi College of Education Ondo has appealed to the federal and state governments to immortalised the late Abiodun Akintola Akindojutimi.
This appeal was made by the past president of the institution Comrade Ayo Ologun on monday Night of 16th July 2012, at the candle light organised in honour of the deceased SUG president. He said, Abbey as he's fondly called must not die in vain. He died to make a representation and to let the voice of Adeyemi students be heard at the Federal level. He therefore charged them, to be good comrades and continue to pursue social justice.
There was chorus of sad and solidarity songs by the students and friends of the deceased.
Earlier, the Ondo state governor Dr Olusegun Mimiko had sent an official government delegation to the family of the deceased for a condolence visit.
Comrade Tayo Marcus Olubodun in his own address describe Abiodun as a freedom fighter,Martin Luther king of our time. He challenged all students to stand for humanity,freedom,justice,fairness and equity. He encouraged them not to compromise and keep the spirit of unionism alive. They should not relent in their effort to fight for liberation.

Three Students' leaders of the Student Union government of Adeyemi College of Education Ondo (ACE) and Federal University Technology Akure including School of Nursing students have lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident along Abuja-Akure road.
The accident occurred while coming back from an Awards ceremony organised in honour of the governor of Ondo state, Governor Olusegun Mimiko at Sheraton hotel in Abuja by the National Association of Nigerian students NANS . According to a NANS official "NANS officials and some stakeholders had accident on their way back to Akure, from Abuja.....Presidents of the SUG FUTA, ACE and school of nursing died instantly while other's were seriously injured.
Early this morning, some of the victims have been transferred to UCH ibadan for treatment. Commissioner for police and his counterpart commissioner for Health have been informed about the incident.
Consequently, this incident has generated lots of controversial stories among the Nigerian students. It should be noted that, one of the institution, Adeyemi College of Education Ondo is on indefinite strike due to the riot that occurred at the institution, that led to damaging of school properties by students of the institute during their demonstration.

It will be closed for one week; a team of security agents will continue to raid the beach to rid it of criminals,’’ said Adegoke Fayode, who is the Divisional Police Officer, Victoria Island Station, as the Nigeria Police force informed the public that it has closed down the popular Kuramo Beach yesterday. “We are raiding all the cabins on the beach. Anyone who wants to work in the cabins must be known by the security agents.”

A combined team of police, army, immigration and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency officials had on July 1, at about 1.00 a.m. raided the beach, arresting some people, Channels TV reports.
The DPO in the statement further said that the beach management and the local government where the resort is located had been included in the team of task force to clear the beach of squatters.

PDP Chairman Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has spoken out about the sect, stating that it is simply fighting for justice. Speaking on Tuesday in Abuja where he received Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Dankwabo and his entourage at the party’s national secretariat, National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur stated that the activities of the sect are borne out of injustice, and there can be no peace until it is addressed. “We can’t even travel again because of the insecurity in the region,” he said. “Boko Haram is fighting for justice. Boko Haram is another name for justice.” “I can tell you, with harmony and peace, there will be security. When there is security, there will be development, because there will be investment.  Invest in education, agriculture, among others. We should look after our young men and young women. They are hungry. People feel aggrieved. They are angry because they are hungry. But I tell you, unless we make sure we remove the hunger, we will not be able to rest.” “We should remember that a child who says his mother would not sleep will also not sleep,” he warned.
