SageTravels:
I disagree because sometimes afternoon flight is usually cheaper or evening flight. Check it

Another point

5. Monitor Ticket Prices
Another means of getting a cheaper fare if you were unable to book early is by monitoring ticket prices. Even if you don’t want to book early you can get a better deal by observing tickets prices. One of the major means of monitoring ticket prices is my subscribing to different airlines or agents notifications either via email or text message. Many airlines or agents usually send messages when a promo or prices drop. Sometimes it could be a coupon code that you would use to unlock cheaper and better fares.

Consider Other Airports
Like as I said earlier that different airports have different rates. If there are other airports close to your origin or your destination you can consider them too. You may likely get a better deal when you use some of the minor airports in Nigeria instead of the major airports. For instance, you can use Minna Airport, Niger State instead of Abuja Airport.

Please throw more light
Mimzyy:
If you sleep late too, it might also be of advantage as seats tend to be open in the midnight.

At the emboldened, how did you arrive at that conclusion?
Ehmm, Research has shown that buying ticket from a foreign country can be alot expensive, because at times some airlines include foreign transaction charges. And because some websites request for your country of origin, this also doesnt help.
If I'm booking a flight from Naija, it can be a lot cheaper, than booking that same flight from an international country and vice versa. The only thing that makes it look more expensive from Naija is cos of the exchange rate if you're paying in Naira.

On a lighter note, I also believe its like that cos they believe in most case, its very important for you to travel to your country, (You may not have a choice), and so the prices are raised. grin grin

ITA Software matrix also helps in this regard. Although you cant buy your ticket from it, but you can specify where you're buying the ticket from and get better deals.

All these are based on international flights.
Not sure how Domestic works though.
