Zana1960: I TOTALLY FEEL THIS GUY'S PAIN.. JUMIA IS A SCAM PONLINE STORE LOCATED IN LAGOS, NIGERIA. BELOW IS MY OWN NOT-SO-NICE EXPERIENCE WITH THEM;
I BOUGHT A PAIR OF SHOES FOR #6,500, WORE IT ONLY ONCE(SINCERELY), AND THE SHOE PEELED OFF, it was embarassing!. and i tried to get them to do a replacement or something, till today nobody answered me!. THERE ADVICE TO MY FELLOW NIGERIANS, FLEE FROM JUMIA.COM NO MATTER HOW ENTICING THE DEAL MIGHT SEEM, THEY LACK INTEGRITY!.
How on earth will you buy shoes online without seeing and even testing it. Nigeria's and their dumb behaviour. That is why you get scammed.

Op ... you need to go there and discuss with them. Depending on your business idea and potentials you will come conclusion based on the capital you need. Mind you not all biz ideas are welcomed. You need to qualify first before you start talking of equity.

You don't sound like serious entrepreneur when you come to Nairaland to ask questions with people confusing you more when you can actually go there in person or pick up your phone to call.

Thanks

It is funny most people don't understand the principles that govern this tech platforms. Keep it simple and let it solve provide value by the problem it solves. Over- engineering your start-up can make it difficult for investors and even users to understand the vision behind your product/service.

Startups are hard especially online business. To succeed you will have to put life into it. If you come to nairaland waiting for someone to give you money or where to get money, you are wasting time. One of the key properties of entrepreneurship is the ability to figure things out and take steps to implement it.

A little capital can start empire. Don't wait for VC huge capital to start your business. Go ahead to create a prototype, test run it to prove it works and people will invest in you.
Car TalkRe: Is The Audi A6 A Good Car To Buy? by victor08(m): 10:00am On Jul 06, 2014
Leave those Audi cars...they are problematic and cost plenty money to maintain. You can only enjoy such cars when it is still brand new. No second hand value.

Nigerians are becoming less trustworthy and criminal minded. Everybody is looking for Maga to defraud in our offices, banks, churches, business premises, markets and schools.

The guy looks like a professional criminal. Sorry you lost your money that way... but what is more important is for you to learn from the experience otherwise there are more vipers out there to make you cry again.

Long Live Nigeria.

You are fool. What makes cheki different is the payment option. That way you reduce scams and get quality listing. Their biz model is good as it is yielding growth. If you don't like any service go start your own platform.

InvestmentRe: Starting Magazine Production - Please Help Needed by victor08(m): 1:40pm On Jul 02, 2014
Mr Op. It seems you have been living in the cave. Why do I say so?

Many people in the print media are complaining that sales has almost dropped by 70%. People no longer buy prints like they used to do because everything is on the internet. No stable power in Nigeria coupled with high man power rate to run such businesses. People are closing you are trying to start yours... huh

My kind advice to you is to invest your money in online option and let your magazine be released weekly instead of monthly- were by people can go and read it. With one year you MUST have become an authority if you pick a unique niche. Remember CONTENT is important like they say. All you need to do is promote it once you go online and the world will hear about it.

Bottom-line: You will have less risk following this option even if it fails you can easily bounce back without loosing much, you save more money, you gain reputation and earn income by advertising and consultancy. Please think very careful about it and don't waist your money unnecessarily-even some experts here are willing to collect your money and teach you junk without proper market research.
InvestmentRe: How Does Someone Get Investors For Tech Startups? by victor08(m): 12:57pm On Jul 02, 2014
Hello Op. Listen to me very careful. No investor will invest money into your business if you have not developed it fully and at least tested to show some interest from people and money making ability.

O yes that is the way it works. You call them investors not money donators. Nigeria is a country were you give people money for a specific project they end up diverting it to their personal needs.

If you can listen to my advice you can source money from your personal income, family, friends and colleagues. Develop a prototype and use it to pitch to investors.

Kind regards...

Nice one bro! I like the site. But you need to advertise it constantly to get leads and members.

No one will know your website if you don't make noise about it.

Another thing is to keep innovating until you get it perfect, this is not the final step.
