Car Talk › Re: Five Habits That Will Ruin Your Car by victor08(m): 12:54am On Nov 26, 2014 |
starlingbawa: 1. Delaying regular maintenance
Regularly maintaining your car is vital to your car's longevity. Regular maintenance includes oil and filter replacement, as well as transmission fluid, air filter and brake pad care. Every vehicle manufacturer specifies a different maintenance routine, which can be found in your owner's manual. While regular maintenance requires you to invest some time and money, it's peanuts compared to the cost of a new engine or transmission.
3. Shifting while moving
The transmission is one of the most complex and expensive parts in your car and it's important to use is as it was intended. Be careful not to shift from drive to reverse or vice versa while the car is still moving. This "jerky" shifting places excess strain on the transmission's internal gears and can instantly destroy it.
Very good information no doubt, Thanks a lot!
Now my question is, how often/long is one expected to service/maintain a car's transmission oil. what's the duration please? Once a year is ok and make sure you use only recommend oil all problems can creep up. |

Ikenna351: I am not sure you are my friend because I don't find time to hang out with people with such mindset like yours anymore; people that are so negative that they either keep pulling me down or add nothing positive into my life.
But let me give you some personal development tips for free, since you want to be my friend.
If you see a problem as a problem, then it becomes negative. But if you see a problem as an opportunity to grow and become bigger than what you are, then it becomes positive. Just like Jim Rohn once said, "Don't wish for less problems. Rather wish for more wisdom. Don't wish for less challenge, wish for more skills. Accept a challenge, because you can't grow without one".
My point is, if you see a car as a liability, it becomes a problem for you. But if you see it as an asset, then it changes your life for the better by opening more doors for greater things in life, and most importantly, prosperity and peace.
Most people see their smart phones as liabilities that eat deep into their earnings by subscribing internet. But some see theirs as big enterprise, by transforming them to asset and make fortune out of it.
Everything around you is an asset if you want to see it that way. It's all about "Mindset". The rich becomes richer because of the way they think, not because of what they have.
The moment you become a car owner, your levels have changed. What you choose to do with that level to become bigger than where/what you are, is left for you. I know what I was earning when I acquired my first car. Now how many cars have I owned since then? How many do I currently own? How many do i still want to add?
Just like Earl Nightingale said, "We become what we think about". Where or what you are today is exactly where and what you want to be, whether you want to admit that or not. Energy flows where your focus goes. Your mind is the greatest asset on Earth. But people take it for granted because its free. After all, we place more value on what we spend money to acquire. Be careful what goes through your mind. Thinking negative about yourself or what you have or what you believe you can't have will kill your future.
Finally. Don't Miss Anything! Life is too short to live predictable miserable life. Get out of that comfort zone, take up challenges, grow and become bigger than your problems. But to do that, you have to change that your mental blueprint. When you do, you can then become my friend and we can hang out and have some 1759 together someplace.
Op,
Tell your friend to go ahead and buy the car if that's what he wish to have. He is on his way to prosperity.
Ikenna I don't know you Mr Man! I think you may qualify to be my friend. I tell people the truth anyway, Owning a car is about how ready you are to deal with the challenges that can spring up at anytime. |

chucky234: What is this one saying sef.... Even someone with 30k salary in my neighbourhood drives 2001 Camry and he is still alive, you dont need 200k a month salary to own a car. I have driven my EOD for 3yrs and yet carry out any major repairs except normal servicing which I do once a year, 50k salary is more than enough to own a car especially if he is getting a sound tokunbo car. See your life. You service your EOD once in a year? Do you drive the car at all or you park it in your garage? Na for 50k salary you go buy fuel, service car, chop for one month, pay house rent, and take care of your other personal needs. All of you are crazy because I don't buy that idea and will never advice anyone to buy a car with that salary! |
Car Talk › Re: Audi A4 Vs 406 All Estate And 1999 Model. by victor08(m): 3:52pm On Nov 22, 2014 |
Ikenna351: Honestly, You need a serious personal development course for mindset shift. Because such your mindset could not only lead one to frustrated life, but depression and suicide. That's a quiet desperate frustrated life!
Ikenna My friend go park well. I think your mindset is poor too because we all want to own a car thinking that its a luxury when in the actual sense its a liability. All these people encouraging him will not be there when the problem starts. You think i don't know people who buy cars and end up parking it after two months... |

Please advice that guy to go and save his monthly 50k salary and take care of himself. Any car you will buy on that salary will gulp your whole monthly salary in maintenance. My advice is for him to upgrade and get a new job that will pay him well to drive a better car or continue saving as civil servant. Austerity measures will be taken over Nigeria and soon most government offices will be finding it difficult to pay salaries. I hope you take this advice to your friend.

Autos › Re: Peugeot 307 by victor08(m): 8:01pm On Nov 08, 2014 |
My advice to you is to do proper research if you are in Lagos and find a good mechanic that will work on the car. Normally the car is electronic and requires scanning in fixing any problems as it usually appears on the dash board if there is a fault.
There are experts at Ladipo that will install the engine same day if you need to change but you need to be extremely careful with your car as wrong hands can drain your pocket
Once you get an expert on Peugeot cars -find a way to tow it away early in the morning and never allow that mechanic touch your car again except if you are ready to keep spending money on him because its obvious he killed your engine.
NB:Never force your car to start once it turns-off in motion, if the timing belt is bad -A force start will bend the valve. |
Car Talk › Re: Why I'll Never Buy A Tokunbo Car Again by victor08(m): 12:14pm On Nov 07, 2014 |
The important thing is to buy clean cars with sound engine. If you don't know how to go about this...you can take a mechanic to help you and test the car.
Even Oyibo people buy used cars so don't think its for common people alone in Nigeria. Just learn how to pick the right one and maintain it well. |

AdimGreat: Thnx guys for your contributions. I guess I have to reconsider now.
Please what other form of investment, apart from starting a biz, would you recommend for someone with small cash (less than 50k)? Why not consider buying some nice hair attachments with N50K and sell to females, church members, friends, neighbors, colleagues- You can make N500 profit from each if you buy from wholesalers and within 2months you have turned your money around made decent profit you will never make with shares in 1year. Every woman wants to look beautiful and the product is not perishable. |
