We should stop crying already; this is 2024. The rest of the world has moved on. Colonialism was part of human dominion over other humans. Africa too has colonized others before. Ethiopia was never colonized, what economic plans have they?
We should quit this consciousness of "victim" philosophy.
pls read my write up well. I only emphasized the extreme polarity of the cultural differences between tribes forced to be in one union, Nigeria for instance

Chicken out for where... ?

They are only protecting their own local manufacturers and companies...

America is not like your Nigerian Government that will allow China to flood our markets with Substandard goods while our own local manufacturers are struggling.

If you want to drive a Chinese EV in the US, then get ready to pay 100% tariff .... Period

Same thing you guys have been saying for more than a decade and the American economy still remains No 1

Lol, sit down gutter pooping, japagerian Kunta Kinte.

Those lazy black men have been in charge for 30 years and have made SA Africa's biggest economy while Nigeria languishes at 4th position despite Africa's largest population and oil reserves.

Suck on this picture African defect that can't manage oil revenues. South Sudan granted you a visa yet?
you didn't mention how they fell from $435bn to $373bn within those years and lost 25% of their gdp per capita including reduction in hdu and foreign exchange reserves.

SoNature:
I'd like to think that we Nigerians either like to deceive ourselves or we are just ignorant of what leadership is. In truth, leadership is NOT all about choosing between good and evil. No!

Think of a leader as a civilian in charge of security operatives chasing after one dangerous terrorist who has masterminded the killing of hundreds in the past. This terrorist runs into a building full of people just to escape from security operatives.

The leader knows that if he tells the security agents to go into the building to arrest the man, he will waste all of them and escape because he's a specialist in doing that. Instead, he tells them to throw bombs into the building, killing the terrorist and other innocent people.

The leader knows that if he keeps that terrorist alive, he will kill more. So, it's better to sacrifice just 5 - 10 innocent people in place of hundreds. That's something these leaders face every now and then.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala told Jonathan to remove the petrol subsidy in 2012. She took hours to convince Jonathan. Jonathan took weeks to think about it but wasn't convinced. Considering that his options were limited, Jonathan had to remove it anyways because keeping it means feeding a round-tripping cartel. And it backfired! It nearly led to a countrywide protest - a protester even died at Ojota! That's what it means to be a leader.

So, sometimes, we have to pity our leaders. We don't have access to the information they have. We don't know what they go through at night for making certain decisions. But, I like the way Buhari put it, "You cannot satisfy everyone. Just make a decision that will enable you to sleep at night."

If you read up to this point, my point is, leadership is hard!
Nigeria's case is very much easy to solve. Corruption is the main problem. If the refineries didn't close down due to corruption, we wouldn't be facing subsidy issues today. If the military weren't corrupt, terrorism wouldn't have ballooned to the level it is today.

Even Britain herself regretted ever colonizing Africa

The late queen is a dead witness

Interrogate any British pundit and they will convince you colony has done more harm than good to them. Especially slavery, racism and apartheid. Up till now many of the countries they coloniser are still in war, hunger , poverty, and issues everyday. They thought they could play God and walk free. But it's more complicated than that.
From Algeria to Zimbabwe, war and problems are happening everytime. When the devil gives you one, he will collect ten back.
story for the gods. You guys are lucky it wasn't the Japanese or the Chinese that colonized us, if not you wouldn't even have the chance to voice out these grievances grin grin

No matter how many protests and revolutions that takes place in Nigeria, it will never succeed . It's not a curse. A country that is way too diverse in all ramifications cannot succeed. It's like putting lions and hyenas or monkeys and baboons or fuel and kerosene in a space. They won't mix no matter how you try. Nigeria is a product manufactured for British gain and was never meant to succed

Imagine the unnecessary hatred for your country because of sentiments and irrelevant acrimony.Do you know that the people of Benin,Togo and Ivory Coast are looking up to Nigeria at all? What do you want to go there to do as a graduate?A dishwasher?A gateman?A mortuary attendant or someone that takes care of the aged?Remember that the above mentioned jobs are available only in the Western world, what are you going to other parts of West Africa to look for as a second class citizen that you can't find here in Nigeria in quintuple folds? If one state of Nigeria is not favouring you travel to another state as a citizen that you are,no be all this Benin,Togo and Ivory Coast go solve your problem.
PS: Do you know how to speak French? If your answer is ''no" then you're in for a very, very long thing.
why are you so pained about an African moving to another African country? Talking as if Nigeria is heaven when it's no different from the rest of west Africa. By your logic then, no one should travel abroad🙄

Ikwerre have said they are not Igbo but a Benin subgroup.
Opobo and it's environs is documented to belong to Ijaws for ages.
The British interacted with the Ijaws and Itshekiri when they first arrived at the shore. They met the Igbos in the forests.
and you believe that fairytale story? Lol grin grin. The first people the British met when they arrived were the ibibios then the igbos not long after. Both were living together as at that time. The British called the ibibios outer ibos. As for opobo and Bonny, I agree it's ijaw land originally, but then igbos took over due to their larger population as a result of slave trade

PoliticsRe: Odumegwu Ojukwu Was The First Billionaire In Nigeria by victory36(m): 12:05pm On May 04, 2024
Blaze14k:
Sir Louis Odumegwu-Ojukwu (1908-1966)

Louis Odumegwu-Ojukwu, according to anecdotes, was the first billionaire Nigeria ever produced. He was the founding president of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. As an honour for supporting the British military during World War II with his fleet of trucks, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. The queen – on the request of the colonial administration – was said to be driven in a Rolls Royce owned by Ojukwu.

“Few people realise that he still remains the richest African by every standard today, worth in trillions if you consider that he left about £10m in 1966 – at 10 per cent compound interest,” SUNDAY PUNCH was told by a source close to the family.

Ojukwu was said to have made his money by importing dried fish, dealing in textiles, cement and transport.

He was also the president of the African Continental Bank. He was on the board of companies such as Shell Oil Nigeria Limited, Guinness Nig. Ltd, Nigerian National Shipping Lines, Nigerian Cement Factory, Nigerian Coal Corporation, Costain West Africa Ltd, John Holt, and Nigerian Marketing Board, among others.

He co-authored a report on the Economic Mission to Europe and North America, which recommended the investment of extra funds from the produce marketing board in a regional bank and public corporations to stimulate economic development. He was known for his exquisite taste in clothes, shoes and food.

When he died a year later, his wealth was put at an estimated $4bn in today’s economic value.
even Louis ojukwu knows that dantata is richer than him
PoliticsRe: Data Disproves Commissioner’s Claim That Lagos Is Africa’s 7th Largest Economy by victory36(m): 11:59am On May 04, 2024
I sincerely doubt Lagos GDP being ₦41trn. Last time I checked , Lagos was 30% of Nigeria GDP which in 2024 is $253bn so Lagos should be around $75bn in GDP. Nevertheless, government should try and take/keep & update records and statistics properly.

Just because your Gbajue warlord was unable to get anything accomplished in his 8 years in office doesn't mean that Tinubu cannot get it done. So far, he has a record of starting innovative projects and getting them accomplished in the long run. 700 km is a long road, it will not be completed overnight but it's a start.
People will not come to look at the coastal road, but the coastal road will bring more developments to those shorelines from Lagos to Calabar with more beach businesses, hotels, resorts, and the like. I travel around the world for such views, why can't we have such in Nigeria?
dey play cool cool small 127 km took fg 10+ years

No I call a spade a spade

USA is a sovereign nation and reserves the right to pass which ever constitution they dim fit

You cannot do anything about it but create baseless post on NL and wail

If you believe in the Bible then you must also believe in the promise and covenant God himself made with Abraham Isaac and Jacob.

No matter the sins of Israel God will always forgive them

According to the Bible Isreal as a nation is God's own nation.

No sin isreal will commit now King Saul, David, and Solomon didn't commit

Isreal can do whatever the hell they like but they'll still be God's people because of God's covenant with them.

Go read your Bible well well Oga
that contract was destroyed when Jesus came and tore the veil covering the altar. Both gentiles and Jews are God's people now, no favouritism. Plus saying Jews are God's people just implies that other Christian's are wasting their time so it's you that should read your Bible well.

He's very shallow for that comment. Obviously, he is shortsighted and can't see the bigger picture.

The coastal road will bring in way more tourism than just one business. Imagine how many coastal businesses will spring up along the whole coast including international standard hotels and other investments.
funny of you to think that road will be completed in the next 50 years time. Y'all don't see that this is just another money laundering scheme by government? Plus I don't think anyone will leave his country and travel to Nigeria just to see a coastal road😒
