Nairaland / General / Never Run Whenever You Come Across A Snake, Here Is What You Should Do by visaland(m): 11:27am On Apr 13, 2020
Snakes are dangerous animals that a found in bushes they may even appear in your own backyard snakes are sometimes not dangerous but should in case you come in contact with a snake don't run just take these few steps

What to do depend on the location of the snake

1: if you spotted a snake near your buildings (Outdoor) the snake is not likely to stay there and will flee away or it can simply be chased away. maintaining safe distance, will be the only solution then.

2: when spotted inside your buildings or compound : the snake mag likely leave there in the sense the snake will looking for an escape route to leave that place just try to open any exit for the snake to go away but keep a safe distance

3: when found on the road side or bush : at first adjust back observe the movement of the snake for some seconds but if you should run you must not run Zig-Zagly you must run on a straight line but if you don't want to run just keep a safe distance don't do anything to disturb the snake and surely it will l eave

Politics / President Buhari: Lockdown Will Last As Long As Necessary by visaland(m): 8:29pm On Apr 11, 2020
President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed to Nigerians to bear the pains of restriction of movement as a result of the ravaging COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, saying that the lockdown will last as long as necessary in order to contain the virus.

President Buhari in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Saturday said that the defeat of the Coronavirus in Nigeria rested squarely in the hands Nigerians.

Mallam Shehu in the statement did not mention where and what occasion the President made statements.

Buhari in the statement said, “But at this darkest hour, it remains our duty to offer you the full and unvarnished truth: This is a global pandemic. 210 countries and territories across the globe are affected. We cannot expect others to come to our assistance. No one is coming to defeat this virus for us.

“Instead, the defeat of the virus in our country will be in our hands, alone. We cannot wait for others. We can only depend on ourselves now. And so we must – and we will – end this outbreak ourselves as Nigerians, together”.

President Buhari thanked Nigerians for their patience, resolve and strong determination to defeat the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak.

He said, “We realize that today, there will be sons and daughters unable to visit their parents, and elders that are isolated from young ones. And there will be those who live day-to-day, eating as they earn, who face real and present suffering.

“No elected government could ask more of the citizens of the country that elected them than today we ask of you. But we must ask you – once more – to observe restrictions on movement where they are in place, and follow the instructions of our scientists and medical advisers: stay home, wash your hands, save lives.

“The freedoms we ask you to willingly forsake today will only last as long as our scientific advisers declare they are necessary. But they are essential – world over – to halt and defeat the spread of this virus.

“For those who suffer most egregiously, the Government has announced multiple measures to assist: 70,000 tonnes of grain is being released from the National Strategic Grain Reserves for distribution to those in most need; distribution of small cash payments are also being made, and will continue to be made by the federal government in the states and local government areas.

“We ask you to listen and follow public announcements via the mass media for instructions as to how to receive this government support – and learn of more public assistance in the coming days.

“All that the Government is asking you to endure is because nowhere in the world today is there any known way of defeating this pandemic. There is no vaccine. And that means there are choices to be made: between continuing as usual, or accepting the restrictions even when they come with unintended consequences.”

Nairaland / General / Lock Down Might be Extended To Minimum Of 2months And Maximum 6 Months. by visaland(m): 9:53pm On Apr 10, 2020
After President Buhari announced late last night that the ANC government and the Corona Virus Command Council decided to extend the lockdown by two 2 months Nigerians expressed fears, annoyance and some disapproval while a few welcomed this decision. The hullabaloo and public outcry was not just mere cries but concerns on how many poor Nigerians will be able to get through. But the reality is if one has a deeper appreciation of global politics, they will know that the lockdown extension was eminent. And that there might be another extension after this current one..

Politics / Sanwolu Should Also Arrest Imams Holding Services by visaland(m): 8:23am On Apr 07, 2020
The popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele and her husband have been sentenced to 14 days community service for flouting the order of social distancing in the State.

Recall that Akindele held birthday party for her husband in her house amidst Coronavirus pandemic.

She and her husband were arrested and sentenced to 14 days community service by Lagos Court.

Naira Marley and others were also arrested in connection to the said birthday party.

Recall also that a Mosque in Agege Lagos conducted service for Muslim faithfuls and according to the story Lagos task force were attacked by people who came for the prayers.

Recall also that Bishop Oyedepo too was caught doing Sunday service during the lock down order.

Lagosians are now reacting that the government of Lagos State should extend the same measure used for Funke Akindele to pastors and Imams who disobeyed the lock down order.

Check some reactions below:

Bukola wrote: What about the pastors and Imams that keep having services in their places of worship? Arrest them too and prosecute them.

Jide Kolade wrote: Why is the government afraid of pastors after they flouted the same lock down order?

Fowogbemi-Thankgod wrote, “Police arrested Funke for hosting birthday party what of oyedepo with a lot of crowd gathering at church when the government says church should be on lockdown.”

Sarah Ola wrote, “She will definitely get through this soon but I really wished Nigerians used the same energy on Bishop Oyedepo probably that will be fair enough.”

Folawizzy wrote, “So now that they've arrested #funkeakindele after all her explanations, I hope you people are happy, but when your daddy in the lord, #Oyedepo mobilized a huge crowd of people at Canaan for so called religious activities, in flagrant disobedience of the directives nothing happened.”

A’wale Babatunde wrote, “It’s not hate. If you’ve noticed the Lagos state govt is very proactive, sadly there wasn’t a video for Tinubu’s party, these ones displayed their foolishness publicly. As for Oyedepo, his matter is with Ogun state govt as that’s where his church is, wonder why they let it slide.”

Teru Kehinde wrote, “so that one mean say mk dem no enforce law abi....when pastor oyedepo too went against the order of all church suspending activities...they did not do anything....and you say the country is not a joke.....those people at the top protect themselves....oga wise up o.” (sic)

Romance / Since My Birth, No Man Has Ever Approached Me Before by visaland(m): 7:09pm On Mar 29, 2020
A young lady of 22-year-old has taken to a popular relationship blog to lament that she has never been asked out by any man in her entire life.

I am 22 and no guys ever approach me (not even creepy or old guys approach me). My aunt came to visit me and told me that I need to start dating and finding someone since I have never had a bf before. She asked me if anyone has asked me out yet and I told her that no men ever approach me and she got shocked and surprised. Yea I don't understand either.........?

People tell me many times that I have a very young looking face but should that stop men from approaching me?

I don't know what to do about my nonexistent dating life. I feel like I am pretty much am about to be forever alone even though I am not ugly and I don't have any physical defects. I am not going to approach a guy so please don't tell me that is what I need to do. i just want all of this to end, I might just end it all.

Religion / Pastor ‘demands N37m Fare’ To Fight Coronavirus Demon In Hell by visaland(m): 6:44pm On Mar 29, 2020
Paseka Motsoeneng, a South African televangelist also called Pastor Mboro, has reportedly offered to travel to hell to kill the demon responsible for coronavirus. According to KenyaUpdates, Mboro, the pastor of Incredible Happenings Ministries, requested $100,000 (₦36,700,000 at 367/dollar) to take care of his transportation. The controversial evangelist reportedly said there’s no need to waste money on research as the real cause of the contagious disease is a demon in hell which he has volunteered to kill in his “dangerous mission.”“I am ready to save mankind, I have seen a vision of how the Corona demon looks like and I will defeat it,” Mboro said. “There is no need for worrying and expensive research. The real problem is the demon causing this disease and I’m ready to kill it once and for all.” He also said that the money should be ready by April. According to TheSouthAfrican, Mboro had earlier claimed that God told him to prepare just before the pandemic broke out, revealing to him how the coronavirus would affect the world. “God said to me there’s going to be outbreaks. Outbreaks that will even cause hospitals to kill doctors and nurses. That’s the time we should be seeking God,” he reportedly said in a sermon. “I listened to the president saying public meetings are banned for health reasons. God said this outbreak will happen this year. So it didn’t take me by surprise. We’ve been preparing and praying. “God gave me a way to pray for the president, saying that the storms that are coming are going to be heavy. What we need to do is take better care of ourselves and listen to what we’re being told.”

Religion / The World Will End 12th April 2020 At Night ~ Prophet David Owuor by visaland(m): 4:09am On Mar 29, 2020
Self-broadcasted Mighty Prophet of God, David Owuor, has forecasted that there is an all the more destroying and unnerving cataclysm in the coming days which will supplant the feared coronavirus.

Owuor, who is the head of Holiness and Repentance Ministry says the pandemic more awful than the current COVID-19 pandemic.

In a video that has since turned into a web sensation via web-based networking media, Owuor states that the world ought to be set up for the pandemic which he says will totally clear out mankind.

In a similar video cut, Owuor says that individuals will be struck by excruciating bubbles.

“There is an enormous plague more regrettable than the coronavirus that you find in Asia. The Lord has directed me to strike the earth and I have struck the earth, so there would be a great deal of agonizing bubbles which are round and would get ready loaded with liquid. They have a dull eye which would blast… ,” he said.

Politics / Buhari Is A Stupid President, Elected By Stupid People by visaland(m): 4:06pm On Mar 27, 2020
The Popular Islamic scholar, Imam Tawhidi, has slammed Buhari, stating that He is a stupid president, adding that he loves Conflict so that he can remain in power.

READ BELOW:

“Nigerians should know that I’ve actually had contact with his office before, during civil conflicts (Shia-Sunni/army clashes). I was about to come to Nigeria for negotiations and help achieve peace between sects. But it looks like Buhari loves conflict so he can stay in power.

“President Buhari’s cult claim they have nothing to do with terrorists in Nigeria. Yet when I expose terrorists in Nigeria… President Buhari’s fans attack me online. A stupid President is always elected by stupid people.

“I love Nigeria. I have one Nigerian friend and she’s amazing. One of the most successful and honest people I know. I also welcome my new Nigerian followers on Twitter. You have a beautiful country but it would be more beautiful without the terrorism enabled by Dictator Buhari.

“Nigerians please be careful from the Covikkk virus.”

“Look who’s trending number 1 in Nigeria. If the corrupt Nigerian government wants more… I will take over the media narrative in no time. I’ve done it before. #PresidentCovik won’t know what to do with me. Stop supporting terrorists. Stop abusing the people.

“Terrorism is an international concern but you reflect the mentality of Mr. Covikk’s support base. Keep embarrassing yourselves…

Also Read: Coronavirus: Buhari is disrespecting Nigerians – Oby Ezekwesili

“I’ll say it again: Whoever voted for Buhari, especially for the second time after seeing his failures to crack down on terrorists, is 100% stupid, foolish and irresponsible. Victims of terrorism due to Buhari’s incompetence don’t care about minority or majority votes. Wake up.

“Whoever supports Buhari is not only foolish but also responsible for his crimes regardless of their nationality. I’m not even Nigerian and I am standing up for Nigerians. Maybe you should do the same instead of defending the cult that put that Covikkk criminal in power.

“More lies. I am not Nigerian nor am I a follower of Zakzaky and the terrorist regime in Iran. I despise Zakzaky. Criticizing Buhari doesn’t mean I support Zakzaky. I reject them both. I take orders from one person only and that person is my lady.

“The President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari still doesn’t know the name of the virus killing 24,000+ at such a rapid rate. Addressing the nation about it for the first time, he pronounced the virus as ‘CIVIK 1-9’. His friend, Imran Khan, thinks Japan and Germany share a border.

The President said that meting out capital punishment on the bandits could lead to cycle of revenge and counter revenge.

He urged community leaders and the local authorities to continue their efforts in partnership with law enforcement agencies that bring the surrender of bandits, leading to peace between farmers and herders.

Romance / Reasons Young Men Are Running Away From Marriage by visaland(m): 5:59pm On Feb 16, 2020
From time immemorial, societies and families have been giving out their daughters in marriage and also families have cross many rivers and mountains just to go and pluck a "beautiful flower" from someone compound.
The marriage institution was not as complicated and expensive as we have it today. My father only paid N24.00k as bride price when he married my mum in the early 80s, but today young men are made to pass through the fire and water before tying the knot with their missing rib.
The pressure to impress family and friends by having societal wedding have led many young men into crime, while some are in serious debt after borrowing to feed people who careless about them
When I was growing up in the 90s couples usually save for their traditional wedding and maybe white wedding.
But now you have to be ready for;
1.A spot to propose so the world can see it on instagram, Facebook or twitter.
2.Bridal shower
3.Pre wedding photoshoot
4.Knocking of door
5.Introduction
6. Bachelor eve
7.Traditional wedding
8.Court wedding
9.White wedding
10.Reception
11.Thanksgiving
12.Honeymoon etc..

No wonder some young men just want to stay single.. To afford all this troubles..

Politics / Okada Ban Lagosians Are Paying For Their Mistakes by visaland(m): 9:06pm On Feb 08, 2020
Hello my fellow Lagosians, happy trekking.
On a more serious note, why do we have leaders that reason backward?. Someone who has not entered a commercial vehicle for more than 20years will just wake up in the morning decide to change policy that has been working for the people for a very long time, and put up a policy that will punish the people.
How can a reasonable govt wake up one morning and ban more than 100,000 Okada and Keke without providing an alternative means of transportation, without thinking of how those riders will feed themselves and their families, without thinking of how commuters ,both disabled and able persons go about their normal business.
You gave reasons of trying to minimize the rate of accident and crime, that's very good, but did you put in consideration of those thousands of riders you've chased out of work might consider crime as another means of surviving?, that means by trying to solve one problem, you're creating more dangerous one.
Anyway, one thing i know is that a community get a leader that they deserve, during campaign, when they were sharing indomie to Lagosians, i laughed, so after selling our votes just for indomie, the results are now coming out.
One thing I also know is that, whatever they do in Lagos, i will surly survive.
They came with fuel 145 am still living, they came with border closure, am still living, even if it's by buying one bag of rice 27000.
So once again my fellow Lagosians, happy trekking.
