You can search for them online or visit their center to learn more. The future won't wait—and neither should you.

Information is the gateway to opportunity.

I will be having Free Microsoft Excel online training for beginners and intermediate level soon.

I had a new student and i was asked to put her through, during the introductory class, i made mention of mouse and she watched are environment, then i quickly said i mean computer mouse. To her maybe i am drawing her attention to household rodent.

Computer mouse is a pointing device used to perform functions.
There are four functions of the computer mouse
1. Left Click or click
2. Right click
3. Select
4. Click drag

1. Left click or click is use to open an icon ( Default, application or folders)

2. Right click is use to display more options of an icon

3. Select is use to highlight one or more icon

4. Click drag function moves icons from one location on the computer system to another.

There two types of computer mouse
1. Lens mouse
2. Ball mouse
3. Bluetooth mouse
They both performs the same functions but the lens mouse is interested into USB port while Ball Mouse is connected to PS2 port and bluetooth mouse's bluetooth is connected to a USBport

The computer mouse is divided into three
1. Click: is positioned at the left side of the computer mouse

2. Right click: This is at the right hand side of a computer mouse

3. Scroll wheel: This is inbetween the click and right click on a mouse.

You hear and use the word software or computer software, who invented software? Why computer software?
Alan turing was credited to be the first person to come up with the theory of software in 1935.

Softwares were created for translator of programs to meet the needs of early programmers where by converting translated programs into what computer can understand.

Computer software are program of instructions that controls the computer operations or process data.
There are two types of computer software
1. System software
2. Application software

1. System softwares are first installed on a computer system which aids the proper running of application softwares. Eg Operating system, Language Translator, utilities

2. Application softwares this are software that are used to perform general and specific tasks on the computer system. Eg. Word processing package, Graphic package, Database Package etc.

Information saved on an optical disk (CD and DVD) is called software or hardware?

I once asked a student what is a computer hardware, he said what you can see and touch, then i asked so a table is a hardware then he paused.

The term "what you can see and touch" are basically used to teach pupils in primary 3-6 on what computer hardware is.
I expect to hear A computer hardware is the physical component of a computer system. Eg Monitor, System unit, printers, scanner etc.

There are 5 computer hardware

1. Input Hardware
2. Output Hardware
3. Storage Hardware
4. Processing Hardware
5. Communication Hardware.

1. The input hardware sends data to the computer system through keyboard, pointing devices (Mouse, light pen etc) and scanner.

2. Output hardware retrieves processed information as soft copy (Screen) or hardcopy (Paper) information. Eg Monitor, projector, Printer.

3.Storage hardwares holds processed information permanently for later retrieval. Eg Hard disk, Flash drive etc

4. Processing Hardware are hardware that helps in processing of data into Information. Eg Processor (CPU).

5. Communication Hardware are devices that aids the flow of communication between the a sender and a receiver through a network. Eg Router, Wifi Card, modem.

Now we know table can never be a computer hardware.

If i tell you that the electric fan in your room is a computer, you will debate it, though not everyone.

When we hear the word computer our attention moves to that device we use for surfing the internet, create documents or graphic designs etc.

What is a Computer: It is an electronic device that sends data through an input device (mouse, keyboard), processed the data through processing units (CPU), displays the processed data through an output device and stores the information for later retrieval as soft copy or hardcopy.

There are three types computer
Analog computer
Digital computer
Hybrid computer.

What Computer System: This is the combination of electro-mechanical devices (Monitor, Keyboard,mouse and system unit) to form one unit to perform tasks.

If you have any device that has the following Input device, Processing device and Output device that device is a COMPUTER, that mean your electric fan is a computer, though it falls under Analog computer while the computer system is an example of digital computer

Computer monitor is also called Visual Display unit (VDU), It displays processed data from the system unit as a soft copy information.
It is a part of the computer and a hardware device.

For processed data to display there must be a connection between the monitor and the system unit using VGA cable.

There two types of computer monitors
1. Monochrome computer monitor
2. Colored computer monitor

The monochrome computer monitor displays one color ie. black on white background. Egg cathode ray tube monitors
While the colored computer monitor display 4 - 16,776,216 colors. Eg LCD & LED monitors.

Computer monitor is an example of an output hardware device.

Computer keyboard is a part of a computer system that sends data to the computer system. It is a hardware device that consist of keys such as Alphabets (A-Z), Numbers(0-9), special(Ctrl, Alt, Enter etc), function (f1 - f12) keys respectively.

There are two types of keyboard
1. Standard Keyboard
2. Enhanced Keyboard
Enhanced keyboard has more keys than the standard keyboard.

We have two forms of keyboards
1. PS2 Keyboard
2. USB Keyboard
3. Wireless Keyboard
The PS2 keyboards are old type of keyboard that uses pin which are connected to PS2 port on the system unit, USB Keyboard are the recent keyboard whose mouth is connected to the USB port while wireless keyboard works when there is a Bluetooth connection between the keyboard and the system unit

Functions of some keys on the keyboard
1. Home key: This moves the blinking cursor to the beginning of a line of text in a document

2. Delete key: This remove unwanted text from left to right, meaning if the blinking cursor is behind a text and delete key is pressed it removes the text in front of the blinking cursor.

3.Alt + Enter: This command creates/breaks a new Page/ moves line of text to a new page while working with Microsoft Word.

4. Alt + Tab: This switches between active and opened windows.

5. CapsLock: This creates uppercase text when the key is toggled on while working with Microsoft word but when shift key is hold down with other text, it creates lowercase text.
