These are same documents... however, it is very common to refer to it as LOA. Some schools would give you an offer letter first, request you to pay the initial deposit first before issuing the LOA. LOA is simply a general term for the final admission letter. Read yours to be sure there are no conditions to be met and if so, you are good to go...

All the best

Ikechi12:
Hello all.
Please it is just dawning on me that people use the term 'LOA' instead of admission letter.
I applied using my admission letter, so I want to ask if the admission letter is different from LOA. If yes, how can the LOA be gotten?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by viviangogos(f): 9:21pm On Nov 15, 2021
This is great but for everyone, SP expires 90 days after program completion. Do check your LOI as they put a note as below :

Note: As an international student in Canada, it is your responsibility to ensure that you continue
to meet the conditions of your study permit, including the requirement to actively pursue studies.
Your study permit will automatically become invalid 90 days after you complete your study
program, regardless of the expiry date indicated on your study permit.

I am sure you have gotten first hand info for sending your PP to Lagos.

For the counterfoil, your length of study determines that duration. It is usually additional 3 months upon the expected finish of your program. Even if they paste 2024 there, your LOI will specifically mention that you have 3 months after the expiration of your program irrespective of length of SP. so it is your responsibility to proceed to either apply for your PGWP or extend your studies before applying for the PGWP depending on what you want to do.

See below from LOI sent:

I want to send my passport to Lagos VAC for stamping, but I want to hear about the experiences of those that did the same in the past.

I did my biometrics in Lagos and won't be traveling till next fall, so there's no point in rushing.

Do I still make other payments, especially to the VFS, other than the courier service charge?

Also, what did the folks that got 2024 on their TRV do differently? Is it normal, or is it because they sent a new LOA to the IRCC? I want to get that too.

What’s the take of you all, Nairalanders?

Thanks!

Hello Joan, I am also going to Centennial College Winter 2022. Let's connect..

JoanJerome:
Hello everyone... Is there anyone leaving for Canada this January? I got admitted to Centennial college and I'll be glad to connect with the person. I'll like to get information regarding accommodation/ travel plans so we can pair up. Also, anyone who has settled in Toronto area can give pointers to newcomers for relatively affordable residences. Ps: I'm female.

Normally, you arent supposed to pay transmission fee since you did your biometrics same place but did you submit your biometric slip? That may be a factor.

Romoke1995:

I sent to Lagos on Thursday
I got a call from them today to pay a transmission fee of 9410 to one sterling bank account. I sent to Lagos because I did my biometric in Lagos and now I donno why they asking me to pay transmission fee again ?
Please has anyone experience this lately ? Kindly assist

Yes DHL will pick it up. I never tracked mine at all cause the update from VFS was very detailed and after they sent email of sending to my courier, I got it the next day. Pp was submitted on the 4th of November and I got it back on the 11th of Nov. So excluding weekend, it took 5 business days to process it...
Abuja is really fast shaa

DHL will pick it.
Try and track it cos I got same message too.
I tracked it and DHL already updated the expected delivery date and time to my location.

First, have she ordered for her gcms note for the refusal? But thinking out aloud..How did she know about all the forgery that was done in her previous application since you say it was without her consent?
This is November and she is yet to begin her visa application process for Winter resumption? But with all of these known issues, she has alot of work to do on this application. If possible she need the services of a licenced RCIC agent to handle this application or even an immigration lawyer.
She should be worried about getting her application right and not about starting classes online cause starting online or not does not make the decision faster or positive...

I wish her all the best

geawears:
Okay sorry, so this is it again.

* I have a female friend who currently holds a Letter of acceptance to study in Canada. She is about to start her visa application.
* She also holds a previous visa refusal to Canada about three years ago. She applied through an agent (tourist visa)

* In her previous application, the agent declared that my friend is married and submitted a fake marriage certificate.

* The agent also submitted a fake Bachelor degree certificate from a different school (think he did that cause of her 3rd class).

* The agent also declared a fake employment history

Now that she currently holds a letter of acceptance and about to commence her visa application, i need advice on how she can explain her situation given that in the real sense she is:
*SINGLE with no marriage history
*Has a genuine BSc certificate from the right institution as against the institution declared by the agent
*Has a genuine employment history as against the ones declared by the agent.

Since the visa officer will have access to documents submitted for her previous application which was refused, can anyone PLEASE advice my friend on how her application should be presented, and do you think giving all this information about "using a wrong agent" in her personal statement will help out?

Please help!!!

Payslip is supposed to be an evidence to back up your means of funds and proof of employment. Which means if you show you are earning a particular amount saved towards your studies, you are using your payslip to show evidence of the source of funds. So I do not think just payslip without the actual fund can serve as POF though. Also if you are both applying to go to school together, then I guess you must have other strong home ties be it economic ties...
You have drafted SOP or is your applications submitted yet? Well, this is my first time of seeing couple apply together for same purpose though. Most times we see one person apply for SP and the other SOWP...

All the best in your application.

Deronke1:

Yes, we are both applying together, same school and same course.
Payslip he submitted was his own proof of funds. He works with the British embassy so he used the payslip as his proof of funds.
I used 5 million as proof of funds
Yes, I've drafted SOP which I mentioned to my elder brother who stays in Canada, hoping they could consider us with that.
I would really appreciate your help on what to do

Even my Wakanow agent I have used for many years told me they do not book Ethiopian airline anymore for clients cause it is not safe to right now. They are monitoring the situation and will also advise if it is ok to start booking them again soon...

Well, if you say it is propaganda, I will say for people to make more enquiries before proceeding to book. I wanted to take the risk too but I am travelling with a child so I kuku booked Lufthansa.

If you feel like it, raise a webform to submit the documents... there is no crime or limitation to amount of webform one can raise to support their application. However, since they aren't your sponsors, I do not think backing that information up will make any difference too except you mentioned that as part of home ties cause you will need to return home to take care of them then by all means, upload the documents to back that up..

All the best

dollymon:
Good morning everybody,

So I'm a little disturbed about something. I have submitted my application and in my SOP I stated that my both parents are retirees but I didnt submit any thing to back up the claim. I just attached pictures with them and added their birth certificates. My brother is my sponsor though and I attached every document neccessary from his end.

Should I still go ahead to submit certificates showing that my parents are retirees, they have documents to back up this claim and bond certificates. My dad also has a landed property certificate.

I have raised webform twice. The first time to submit a letter of sole signatory, and the other time to submit my upfront medicals.

If I raise another webform to submit these documents again, wont i look like some who is confused and desperate? Or do I just let it go.

My eligibility review hasn't started.

Pls guys I need your advice. Thanks

Fair enough Jay.. I thought you were advocating for shorter time frames for account statement but your angle is well understood.
God will grant everyone wisdom to get it right...

Jay316:
I agree totally with u and that is y in a previous post I stated clearly that the least acceptable number of month u can send is 4 months which is not too advisable but its wot is on their website. however, 6 month is very ideal but with NSE, IRCC will require a one year history. But NSE has always been optional and NSE also requires IELTS but so many ppl were by passing IELTS with Exemption letter from their University stating that they do not require IELTS cos their medium of instruction was in English so in real sense Nigerians were not even playing by the NSE rules.Indians would do IELTS once they opt for SDS weda they have even had masters taught in English or not but we in Nigeria always look for a way to bypass the rules.I am not IRCC nd so cant say if that's the reason 4 scraping NSE but in the 1st place they were not even giving PPR after 5 or 6 weeks like they promised.i know someone who did NSE and applied October 2020.she got PPR April this year and I know others that were denied after 6 or 7 months with NSE ooo.so u neva can tell.

All I advice is submit at least 6 months MBS .it gives u an edge if ur banking transactions show sufficient funds nd good and busy banking transactions that relate to ur Job or Business .if u can in those 6 months, avoid Lump sum.plan ur POF even b4 u get admission. ur POF should be d 1st thing u plan 4 wen considering Canada ooo.

Hello Jay,
I also want to point out something as regards MBS.. you are correct that the applicant can choose the duration they want to send and that is what the embassy will access them on. When IRCC sends you a request for MBS, they would usually state they want 1 year of banking history right? So it means i) they actually want to see a long banking history without compromising the ligibility, ii) the platform allow them use the ticket PW to access the account directly from the bank MBS system hence no doubt on the authenticity. Note that they have not been sending NSE request but people still add that to some how help expedite their application and this is not compulsory. We say Indians have their applications expedited compared to Nigerians, they follow their SDS requirements to the core. It is possible they even stopped sending the NSE requests cause people are not actually meeting the requirements in the real sense of it ( which is having 30k CAD for 6 months). Now if an account is robust, it is ok to show the VO the long history as to see the account is busy and can establish the applicant financial standing and since MBS makes it easier to send a long SOA without having to worry about ligibility as well. Except for some reason, the applicant started building an account for this purpose and hence choose a few months. If one chooses to send 1 month MBS( SOA) , what exactly does this show? The Canadian study permit require you to show evidence as much as possible. Account statement is not the only thing that determines an approval, but all the ends must be tightened. For UK, they only need 28 days SOA and this is their own requirement... if one have a salary account and want to show they have been earning, no harm in sending your 1 year MBS to them. Ofcourse except it becomes a case of other reasons where account is not stable. But why not, if not.

Note: This is not just about this particular post though.

Jay316:
this is wrong info bros.u can choose any range of time to send MBS.MBS is like normal statement of account and you can choose the duration, time and range.the only difference between MBS and ur normal statement is that the bank sends it directly to the embassy as u have instructed and u as the customer must have filled the time, duration and range of the statement to be sent.after the bank sends the statement, they will send a ticket ID and password to ur Email Adress. u r to send this ticket no and ID through webform or upload it in ur GCKEY or send through mail depending on ur situation. The bank has no right to send them updated statement of account if u did not request for it or give permission for it.lets not get it twisted.Banks value ur privacy

Good evening Nairalanders, I had to share my testimony to encourage others. I  Submitted my Application on the 24th May, 2021(First Time Applicant),  did biometric on the 4th of June, upfront Medical on the 19th of September and PPR  for a family of 5 arrived on the 6th of November.
I applied for study permit and 2yrs visiting visa for my spouse and kids. Although I applied before joiningÑL I learnt so much from here and corrected my mistakes from what I read. My application was with a Conditional letter of acceptance and without tution fee deposit. I only paid the 90CAD Application required by my school. ÑO IELTS  and we also used normal Statement of Accounts. I saw several ghost updates but I thank God who made it possible.

Submitted the underlisted forms as required:

1. Application for study Permit Made Outside of Canada (IMM1294)
2. Family Information (IMM 5257) - I declared only my immediate siblings and parents.
3. Application for Temporary Resident Visa Made Outside of Canada (IMM 5257) . I
4. First Degree Certificate
5. First Degree Transcript
6.Affidavit of Declaration of Income
7. 6 Months Bank Statement of my spouse and I. About #20M Fhrom my spouse account and #4.8M in my own account. These were personal savings accounts and not Salary accounts.
8. Pension Statement of Account
9. 6 Months Payslip for both of us
10. Letter of Sponsorship and support signed by my husband.
11. Statement of Purpose
12. Police Character Certificate
13. Curriculum Vitae
14.  Letter of Appointment from Current Employer.
15. Letter of Introduction from Current Employer (Reference Letter)
16. Birth Certificate (for the 5 of us)
17. Copy of Staff Identity Card
18. Pictures of the Family..

I wrote my SOP Myself and realised that my application was not perfect when compared to the profiles that I saw on nairaland but I want to thank God who proved that there is nothing impossible with him. Thank you Nairalanders your testimonies were encouraging.

THE FULL GIST….
My first application was on April 2nd 2021
I submitted everything with upfront medicals
I later got IELTS request for NSE route ( NSE route still dy available den ) …
Fast forward to May 31, I got refused based on financial and personal asset
So I ordered for GCMS note on June 1.
The notes came in a month later and the VO concerns were :
Lump sum deposit
Not convinced the funds I presented would be sufficient
Not convinced the funds would be available for studies
And sees the whole expenses unreasonable
[/b]
I actually had some lump sum deposits I failed to explain in my first application and there was sharp drop in Naira value during that period ( I think Naira dropped from 1 CAD :303 Naira to 325 Naira ) so the CAD equivalence of my POF also dropped too. Trying to savage the situation.. I complicated tinz further by dropping another lump sum and sent webform to inform them my POF has been updated with more funds because of exchange rate
So before gcms note came I was already suspecting areas I jonsed in the first application

FOR SECOND APPLICATION…
To prove my funds sufficiency and availability
I paid full tuition fee (1 year )
Paid for GIC
Put 6k USD in domm account and tagged it miscellaneous funds for flight and hotel in my LOE
Fund money market investment account with 5M to show I have excess of my cost of studies and I have money to come back to after my studies ( this is to prove the study expenses are reasonable )
I tried to avoid lump sum this time and I made sure I explained everything that looks like lump sum especially on my domm account.
To prove source of income for all the plenty money I claimed to have, I submitted my employment letter and payslips but my pay no match all dose funds I showed.. so I padded my income strength by claiming to be a consultant and I do engineering consulting jobs along side my normal job
I am registered engineer so I have yearly practicing license I claimed it made me eligible to be a consultant. I leverage on that and also got reference letters from some companies I once did Smtin with.. then I added an exaggerated service order of arnd 7M to show how heavy I get paid from my consulting jobs.
I then explained everything in a 8page LOE
I tried to explain everything like I am talking to a primary 1 kid
Then I submitted the second application on August 15
October 15th, IRCC requested for medicals… Smtin I did since March 25th for my first application
I sent webform to update them I still hav valid medicals and they updated it to pass on oct 19
Then on October 27 they dropped only BVL… another wait started till November 6th when they finally released the main Smtin HOOOGE
PPR landed

My approach to the second application was to put in all I have.. all I could offer.. even some of the tinz may not be needed… but I no wan hear anoda story of what I should have done… so I put in all (both the relevant and not relevant) and I can’t even point which of them was the deal breaker…
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 20 by viviangogos(f): 12:58pm On Nov 07, 2021
I have read schools requesting people to get such discrepancy corrected and to make this correction is also not easy cause you will require to go to the secondary school to get letter to prove there was error in the Waec Cert and then go to Waec for a change. I really do not think an affidavit can work for this ooo. Affidavit can easily work for a change of name but this DOB? It is actually deep.
NECO Certificate does not come with DOB so maybe you can use that one if you wrote NECO...

Teephour:
Hello everyone, pls I want to confirm if my Waec certificate with a wrong date of birth and a court affidavit can suffice for a study permit Visa or can this be submitted to a school as one of the required document.

THE FULL GIST….
My first application was in sept 2020 through an agent.
I got admitted for a 2yr course ( baking and pastry management in fanshawe college and I paid my tuition deposit.
I got IELTS request for NSE route in November ending and submitted 1st week in December.
School was suppose to resume in Jan.
And refusal letter came in January..
I immediately requested for gcms note and got it a month after.. with reasons.
- my sop does not make sense
- Study plan does not appear reasonable
- Previous study is higher than what applied for
-over 18 yrs study gap

So, I requested for a refund and i decided to hold on a bit

2nd Application
Got admission into another school (conestoga college) for a 1 yr course in Pastry and baking. Paid part of my tuition deposit.
Wrote my SOP my self, and I made sure addressed all the VO’s concerns.
I submitted sept 12 and did upfront medical sept 13th.

PPR and bvl dropped on 27th of oct.

Documents submitted
*PRAYER ( I prayed ooo and God heard)
-All the required document by ircc
-My company documents ( I am self employed)
-all my past training certificate in baking
-letter of sponsorship and support from husband
-my MBS ( my salary account). - I pay myself salary
-husband MBS
-Bsc certificate
-expired ielts
-children birth certificate
-marriage certificate
-nortorized house documents
-1st degree certificate and transcript

I can boldly say that everything I know today and used in my second application was from this platform.. thank you to all the gurus on this platform for sharing from your wealth of knowledge and experience.
And to everyone that got a refusal note in the recent time, it’s just a delay and I know how it feels , just pull yourself together, get your gcms note and try as much as possible to address all the concerns raised by the Visa officer and reapply.

It will all end in praise.

Testimonytime:
Long post alert
Testimonytime

What God cannot do does not exit.

My Canadian dream started at the lowest point of my life, January 7th 2016. I watched with the greatest pain I ever experienced when the doctor brought out my full term stillbirth baby in Methodist Hospital Houston Texas, USA. I knew there and then that I can do nothing without Jesus and surrendered completely to Him at my lowest ebb. I changed my moniker from Twingirls to Testimonytime ( Twingirl is still on Nairaland land, though I am not using it again).

Fast forward to when answered my prayers and I wanted to travel again for the birth, my visa application hang and I meant hung in the air.

After several failed attempt at express entry, due largely to age, I resolved to student visa, I refused to give up.

PPR – 4th November

I give all glory to God, He made this possible
I appreciate Justmellow who wrote my LOE and even in my state of dejection, I knew he did an extraordinary work on my LOE, he advised me further on steps for the reapplication and followed up all the way.
Keji, an angel I met on nairaland, who proof read my SOP, compiled all my documents into pdf and resize ( working tirelessly even at midnights)
Lekiboboe who advised me to go for pgd in Culinary management Selkirk College BC instead of CNA diploma
Frankrobn who encouraged me to re- fire and not loose hope
Annon123, Ayokaq, Akoko123 and others who assisted in one way or another either by suggesting relevant documents or supporting me through the trying six and half months of waiting. I am 43 years old, I changed career from law to culinary practice. Sponsor was my husband and God came through for me. I have no doubt He did it all, PPR is God’s miracle. Men ought to pray and not faint, I prayed my ppr into existence and did the best I could on the document submitted.

Oh great... do they have rules about being vaccinated or not? I have used that airline in the past to US and it is a good airline in terms of comfort. Please confirm if you know about my enquiry above. Even Canada rules states that one can fly but will quarantine if unvaccinated. I wonder why the airlines are making it this stringent sef ..

Henriie:
I actually booked with Qatar Airways. I paid 476k for a return ticket.
