Senate President, Bukola Saraki has expressed his eagerness to meet with police authorities after he was named as the sponsor of the gang of robbers who carried out an operation that led to the death of dozens of people in Offa, Kwara state in April. In a statement issued by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Jimoh Moshood, on Sunday, June 3, 2018, he said the senate president would be invited for questioning after five arrested suspects confessed that he is their political sponsor. The senate president issued an initial statement to call on Nigerians to disregard the claims made by the police, describing it as an attempt to implicate him by any means. Later on Monday, June 4, he disclosed on his Twitter account (@bukolasaraki) that he wants to immediately honour the invitation so as to clear his name. He tweeted, "I have just informed my ADC to get the letter of invitation from @PoliceNG in respect of the allegations raised yesterday - so that I can immediately honour the alleged invitation. Kwara state governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, was also implicated in the alleged confession, an allegation he has also dismissed in a statement. Nine police officers and 24 others lost their lives when a group of at least 30 armed robbersattacked Union Bank, Eco Bank, Guarantee Trust Bank, First Bank, Zenith Bank and Ibolo Micro Finance Bank, as well as the Owode Police Station in Offa on April 5, 2018. Chief of Staff to Governor Ahmed, Yusuf Abdulwahab, and his personal assistant on politics, Alabi Olalekan, are two of the 22 suspects who have been arrested in connection to the robbery incident. http://www.vondanews.com/saraki-eager-to-meet-police-over-allegation/

The new sanction explained Raymond Mashamba twice issued a green card during in a match between Padania and Tuvalu in the CONFIFA World Cup A referee has shown the first ever green card to discipline a player A referee has shown football’s first ever green card to discipline a player in the CONFIFA World Cup. The card, used as a disciplinary measure between the yellow and red cards, was shown to a player at the tournament held in London. The CONFIFA tournament for non-FIFA affiliated teams was played in non-league grounds in London and became the first competition to include the green card. It was issued by referee Raymond Mashamba twice in a match between Padania and Tuvalu. What happens when a player is shown a green card? CONIFA rules state that “a player who receives a green card must leave the field of play immediately, but can be replaced if his team have not used all of their substitutes. A player receiving a green card is not excluded from his team’s next match.” What is it used for and what has been said about it? The tournament’s organiser Paul Watson told Sky Sports: “We’d really like to clamp down on the dissent problem. Football has a problem with the lack of respect for referees. “That’s not to say that isn’t also the case in CONIFA games – the players in our tournament still have those traits. How it might look if the green card makes it to the Premier League “But it would be nice that, instead of it being ignored and therefore in a way condoned, it shouldn’t necessarily cost someone their chance to play at this tournament, if they just lose their cool.” CONFIFA’s Asia President Jens Jockel also supports the introduction of the green card. “We have had some minor problems in the past, with some red cards at the end of a game – mostly when teams realised they can’t keep up and find themselves losing heavily with 10 minutes left,” he explained. “It’s a really good idea of how to sanction things that might not be worthy of a red card. More like personal mistakes – using swear words, disrespecting spectators and coaches and so on. It’s a perfect way to find something in between.” Has the green card been used before? Italian football bosses introduced in the Serie B three years ago – but not to punish players. It was shown for things that the referee deemed a player did well – presented to players when they performed an act of fair play – or “acts of virtue” on the field of play. The idea had previously been adopted in the Italian youth leagues as a trial, but chiefs in the Italian hierarchy believed it would have great effect on the senior game. By receiving a green card, the players received no on-pitch recognition, but their names were noted and a list of the “most correct” players compiled at the end of the season. http://www.vondanews.com/referee-shows-footballs-first-ever-green-card-to-discipline-player/

The head of Kenya’s film commission has slammed a decision to impose a domestic ban a Kenya-made film about lesbian love that received a standing ovation at this month’s Cannes festival. “Rafiki”, based on an award-winning short story, tells the tale of two young women who fall in love and was slapped with a ban by the boss of the Kenya Film Classification Board who objected to “its homosexual theme and clear intent to promote lesbianism”. Chris Foot, who heads the Kenya Film Commission, tasked with promoting film-making in the East African country, said Friday the ban was “ridiculous”. You may feel a change in your libido How not having sex affects your body can vary based on your health, how old you are, and even what kind of sex you were having. But if you’re generally healthy and have only stopped having sex because of a lack of a partner or a conscious choice (and not some other physical reason), there are some changes you could experience. You may feel either a loss of sex drive—or an increase in libido! ‘For some people who refrain from sex, they begin to feel more sluggish, with less vitality and hunger for sex,’ says Sari Cooper, LCSW, certified sex therapist. ‘Out of sight out of mind is how some of my clients describe the scenario.’ Because it’s not on your radar, you may tune out sexual desires; but for others, not having sex could make it even more desirable. ‘You might not be thinking about it as much, or you might be thinking about it all the time,’ says Lauren Streicher, MD, author of Sex Rx: Hormones, Health, and Your Best Sex Ever. ‘It’s really variable.’ You may become less intelligent OK, not exactly, but two very interesting studies in rodents, one from the University of Maryland and one from South Korea, found that having sex improved their brain function and the growth of brain cells. Much more research is needed, though, before we can say definitely that not having sex means you’re missing out on this mental boost. ‘This goes under the heading of ‘interesting preliminary research’, but proves nothing,’’ a doctor says. The parents of a 30-year-old man have resorted to drastic measures in an effort to get their son to leave home: they are suing him. Court documents say Michael Rotondo does not pay rent or help with chores, and has ignored his parents’ offers of money to get him settled. This man and his parents live in New York. Despite doling out five eviction letters, Christina and Mark Rotondo say their son still refuses to move out. Michael is arguing that legally, he was not given enough notice to leave. Mr and Mrs Rotondo filed their case with the Onondaga County Supreme Court, near Syracuse, New York on 7 May, after months of unsuccessfully urging their son to leave. The would-be empty nesters’ lawyer, Anthony Adorante, told Syracuse.com the couple do not know how else to get their adult son out of their house. Dear sweetheart (ife mi), A year ago you walked into my life and I haven’t been the same since. You are the love that came without warning. You had my heart before I could realize myself I originally wasn’t looking for a relationship, but you came and swept me off my feet. No matter how hard I tried to push you away, you always came back. I don’t know why you did because I’m a pain in the ass, but I’m glad because if you didn’t I wouldn’t have found my confidant, best friend, the love of my life. You’re here for me through everything. Whenever I have a bad day you’re the first person I turn to because nothing is more comforting than being wrapped in your embrace and listening to you tell me everything is going to be okay. Sometimes when I’m being irrational (which is actually a lot) you tell me and I always protest, but you’re always right. You don’t even have to say much, but just knowing that you’re here by my side through everything is enough. Read Full story: http://www.vondanews.com/an-open-letter-to-the-girl-i-love-so-much/

EFCC boss Ibrahim Magu has just dropped another blunder and a smart alec caught it all on video. in the age of social media, nothing escapes the millennial with a smartphone and social media app, it appears. Ask Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris and acting Chairman of the EFCC Ibrahim Magu. Call it a tale of two Ibrahims and you'd be darn right. Idris’ ‘transmission, transfusion’ stutter found its way into social media last week and turned viral immediately. When Magu showed up at the ChannelsTV studio, he also appeared unable to tell the difference between an institution and a $24billion EFCC building. Well, there’s another video making the rounds on social media in which Magu goes: “The Speaker of the House of the Senate President…” Nigeria operates a bicameral legislature presided by the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. "The Speaker of the House of the Senate President" is really an unknown component in our fledgling democracy.
