Hello fellow Nairalanders, am presently working in the Aviation Industry at one of the international Airports in UK, and i've worked in various departments of Aviation industry and have also gathered international working experience in the past years due to my Multi language skills. I've got some Aviation qualifications but not one that can put me directly into a managerial position. Currently, i applied for an internal position as a Terminal Duty Officer, a managerial qualification with working experience will be of an advantage but not necessary if one have good special skills and Aviation working experience. I,ve never work as a manager before but have worked close and observed managers implementing their duties in the past. Am preparing at the moment for the interview and am also doing a lot of theoretical research concerning the position. Below are the most likely questions for the interview, i've got my own answers to some of them and am trying to develop some answers for the rest and to compare mine with yours. Could anyone suggest some possible answers with scenarios to any of the questions below that would help me to create a positive impression and receive a good evaluation from the Interviewers. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks

1)Why are you interested in this job?

2)Tell us about your current or previous job. What did you do? What did you like most and
least about it?

3)Imagine you became the boss of the organization you last worked at. What would be the
first improvement you would make?

4)Tell us about a time when you had to maintain confidentiality. How did you do this?
Through your work, you find out that your cousin’s wife, Fatou has been raped. Your
cousin knows you know something about Fatou, and comes to you for help. He says that
Fatou hasn’t been feeling well, but he doesn’t know what’s wrong. He is very upset and
asks you to tell him anything you know about Fatou so he can help her. What do you do?
Why?

5)You find out that an Animator is accepting money from people who want to be
beneficiaries of your program. What do you do? Is it a violation of confidentiality if you
tell someone?

6)You notice that a co-worker has taken money from her grant group and used it for
herself. She begs you not to tell anyone and promises to replace the money next week
after she gets her paycheck. She really needs money this week because her baby is sick.
What do you do?

7 )Explain how your experience working with people or supervising people in the past
would help you in your new job.

Questions for Supervisory/ Managerial Positions

8 ) Tell us about your strengths as a manager, and your weaknesses as a manager.
Imagine the staff you supervise are fighting with each other. What do you do?
A manager has to make a lot of decisions. Sometimes these are difficult because the
answer is not clear. Other times the right choice is clear, but you know people will be
upset with you if you make that choice. Tell us about a time you had to make a difficult
decision. How did you make it and why?

9) This job requires the ability to work independently. The Coordinator will provide some
direction and support, but much of what you do will be your own responsibility. Tell us
about a time you worked independently or took the initiative to do something.

10) How do you keep staff motivated?
For internal candidates: In your new job, you would be in a position of authority over
staff who used to be your peers and may still be your friends. How will you handle this so
that they don’t resent you?

11) For external candidates: In your new job, you would be coming in to an established

group
as an outsider. How would you maintain good relations and keep people from resenting
your authority?

12) As Manager, part of your job would be to find out when staff are breaking the company

rules. What kinds of problems would you look for? How would you handle them?

13) Tell me about a time when you took the initiative to change something you thought
wasn’t right.

And that one alone is not your only problem, you will still come accross the Buzu's otherwise known as the Tuaregs some of them are hardened criminals and dessert robbers. As a blackman travelling accross any Arab land in Africa by road means you are putting your life in a very serious danger because most of this North African Arabs have lost every respect for the black African people as far back as the Trans-Sahara Slave Trade which took place hundreds of years ago in Africa, it became worse now when most black Africans used their countries as a stepping stone to Europe. Believe it or not, Spanish people are racist as well. Guys, just be sure of your facts before you start the journey. Music/RadioKING OF POP MICHAEL JACKSON IS DEAD !!! by waladis(op): 1:02am On Jun 26, 2009
The Media has just announced today that the king of pop Michael Jackson has just died at the age of 50 of cardiac arrest. Cardiologist at UCLA tells celebrity website TMZ.com that Michael Jackson died of a heart attack.

I personally believe that something serious must have triggered the cardiac arrest. But whatever the case maybe i think we should all be cautious of how we handle our personal and business problems, lots of thinking could lead to depression and depression could also lead to an heart attack or a stroke. So bear it in mind to always try your best and leave the rest for God. Michael Jackson throughout his whole life has been obsessed in wanting to be a perfectionist but deep down in the corner of his heart he was a confused and a very lonely person. May his soul rest in peace.  So whats your own opinion huh

RomanceRe: I Want To Die by waladis(m): 8:56pm On Jun 14, 2009
A man who was tired of encountering too many misfortunes in his life decided to go to the jungle to commit suicide by hanging himself. So while tying up the rope on one of the branches on top of a tree, he had a loud voice calling at him and begging. He looked down and not faraway from his tree, he saw a naked elderly man covering his unclothedness with his hands. The naked man said, please young man, i beg you in the name of God, i know that you want to take your life, but can you please do me a favour before you hang yourself, take off your clothes and throw them down to me so that i can atleast have something to wear to the town to find a means of survival and eat better foods again after spending so many years in this jungle. The man on the tree was schocked and flabbergasted shocked because he thought his condition is the worst ever but was amazed to discovered that there is a worse situation than his. He quickly climb down the tree told the old man that he was not trying to commit suicide rather he was trying to measure the height of the tree with the rope smiley, and before you know it, he was already making his way back into the town feeling better about himself than ever.
So My dear friend, Yoruba people says " BI A OKU, ISHE OTAN" which means " when there is life, there is hope" be thankful for every day you wake up, For it is a new day. Enjoy everyday because it may be your last. We choose different paths in life so be careful you don't choose a deadend. Remember always that it could be worse and with or without you, life  will still goes on. We will still celebrate the Easter, salah, Xmass as usuall and where are you going to be?? huh  You can either be part of us, the living otherwise noone will miss you when you are gone. When you are down read the words of God to motivate yourself and all shall be well with you. These are my words to you and to the wise. @waladis: By the way, does this girl still want to go back to school? I understand that she intiatially came to Lagos for that but is the zeal still there?
She knew i was schocked and unhappy about her Illiteracy. So a month ago while telling her on the phone that i will send to her some pocket money, she told me she would preffer if i can use the money to arrange  for an adult learning programme for her. I was impressed but also see it as an opportunity to put her to test.
Few days later, i called again to tell her that a male tutor will get intouch with her and her best friend (the one that introduced her to me) to make arrangement for the tuition. I hardly finished the sentence before she flatly said NO, and that she would preffer a female tutor. I must confess, i was double impressed with this action.

RomanceRe: I"ve learnt, lol! by waladis(m): 7:41pm On Jun 06, 2009
I can only contribute the following before the chapter is close. Some of the criticsism is justified.
HOW CAN I STOP MYSELF FROM PICKING WRONG MEN?
It's almost impossible.
WHY? because if you don't pick them they will pick you for one reason or the other.
Secondly, few days or weeks is not enough to determine the personality of any person.
Thirdly, every human being deserve a chance. ( please don't misunderstand me, am not saying that you should go around
sleeping with every man that comes your way)
And finally, if you cannot find a good/right man atleast there are many ways to prevent yourself from moving from fry pan to fire, until the right man comes accross your way because good partners are very hard to find nowadays. You will need to set your priorities right and develop a positive personality and aim to keep them, be an observant, and have the ability to exercise patience and self discipline, be contented and try to build healthy and save communication. All this qualities will create a good image for you in front of any man, once a man likes your presentation (the first impression) and personality, he will begin to admire and like you as a friend and then later be proud of you as a lover whilst your inner beauty reflects. Based on my personal experience, most men are physically stronger than women but are emotionally weaker once you know the gate way to their heart. There are some certain principles you need to develop as a woman before and when you start dating a man. Good luck

Character is like a smoke, it can never be covered, it will certainly find a way out. And this woman/Poster here is suppose to be educated. There are two types of education, the one we received at home from our parents and the one we received at school. Only few women have boths. Illiterate or not, educated or not, what matter most is to be GOD FEARING. Beware, there are lots like her out there parambulating without no destination, jumping from door to door looking for another scape goat to ruin his life and using the most precious gift that God has given them in exchange for a chicken change that will never be enough to protect the future consequences while simultaneously breaking up many happy homes. Brothers, always look before you leap, least you regret. The mistake of a bad slave make one to curse all the other slaves, but not all are the same. Behind every successful man , there is a woman and i say_____ behind most ruined men and marriages there is also a ____________ ? U all know what i mean.
