Anyone running their Z10 on Glo BIS?

i have this strange problem...i dont get data service in lagos but i get H+ as soon as i leave lagos on the same sim card that was not working in lagos

i subscribe to the Glo Comonth plan

Denn: @walcolm you are right as regards the battery thingy.
I am a heavy phone user and am usually away from charging points most time in the day. My battery has been fully drained daily in the last month.

Hope it's not fully damaged by now?

hopefully you can salvage the battery and get it back to lasting longer than 1hr but you MUST get a spare battery to supplement your current battery

My z10 battery is all messed up and works for less than an hour now

i am not having this dramatic issue you seem to be having with your battery. i only noticed that my battery calibration was a bit off after i allowed it to discharge fully before recharging

Li ion batteries don't like being fully discharged before they are recharged so if you have been in the habit of allowing your battery to run until it dies before you charge it, you should stop immediately

What you can do is to always allow it to charge for a long time even if the battery shows its fully charged, leave it plugged in i.e. all through the night and make sure you always plug in before it discharges fully. since the calibration is messed up, when it shows as being fully charged, its probably not

have you checked under 'software updates' with your MTN SIM? if MTN has not loaded the update for their network, just pop in any data enabled sim from Airtel or Etisalat and check again

otherwise you have to use blackberry Link from your PC

Denn: The only network in Nigeria that gives you 3gb data for N2,800 is........ Airtel.

Just send BCM3 to 440 and the rest is history.

If you are still on those rip off a called BB10 plans, you are really wasting your cash.

These network guys did a kind of market segmentation and decided that if you can afford a BB10 device, you should be able to pay more for data...

Glo also gives 3gb for about 1400

i guess its from ur network provider then. customer service should be able to sort it out. its probably a data activation issue from them

swipe down from the top of the screen
tap settings
tap Network connections
tap mobile network
at the bottom of the screen you'll see APN, tap it and make sure Access Point Name (APN) has 'blackberry.net' typed inside the box

if its not there, just type it yourself and save

since its a fresh subscription, it might be a few hrs before MTN activates your sim. you can check to be sure your APN is blackberry.net other than that, no tweak is necessary

Etisalat BIS doesnt work on BB10 devices..only dedicated BB10 plans work on BB10 devices. Etisalat Nigeria blocks their BIS intentionally...The BB10 devices were designed to work with BIS plans and vanilla data plans like iphone and android plans

ciwi: Great thread! Pls I need to learn how to download with my Q10. Each time I want to download any video or music, it plays it instead of saving it. I've tried holding down d item to b downloaded but only icons for copy link, open in new tab comes up. Please can anyone put me thru?

When you hold down any hyperlink, you should have the items in this attached pic

Confirm that's what you see

the right one to choose is 'Save Linked file'

this is totally untrue. the PB and Z10 works quite well together via the BB Bridge

thats very strange cos i have updated 2 Z10s to 10.1 with Airtel and Etisalat sim.

maybe you should use the Blackberry Link Software that is installed on an internet connected PC to do the update.

Plug the Z10 to the PC
Open BB Link on PC.
make sure internet connection is working fine
open 'Settings' in BB link once your Z10 has been recognized
Click the 'RELOAD Software' tab

that should pull the latest OS update for your Z10

you need to have updated your Z10 to the 10.1 OS version. then you can download SKYPE and Whatsapp

lol ...what i meant was, if you get a facebook message, it appears instantaneously on your Z10 hub and that tells you that particular person is online at that particular time

the FB for Z10 is not yet as fully featured as the one you see on androids and iOS which already has FB Messenger integrated and allows you to view FB friends currently online.

Worwor: would that enable me see friends that are online? Another thing is that my music doesn't play out on the loudspeaker it only plays on headset Unless i play it from the folder i downloaded the song to.

If someone sends you a Facebook message, it implies they are on line

My music plays from the speaker by default. Do a hard restart and play music again

Do a hard reset. With the phone still on, pull the battery and put it back after 10 seconds then try to play a video again

ask one of your friends to send a facebook message to you. you should see a message pop up in the BB Hub from Facebook

Worwor: I'm currently using a bb q10 and I can't chat on facebook using the Facebook app on the phone.

have you tried to update the FB app to the very latest version? you need to open BB World and check to be sure you have the latest version of the app

so long as you have a Blackberry ID and you have the most up to date versions of your Blackberry Protect, BBM and BB World

once you have all those, make sure you use your BBID to log into your phone so that your BB Protect, BBM and BB World are all synced to that BBID

when you use the same BBID to SetUp your Z10 or Q10, all your mails, contacts, BBM friends, SMS etc will move over

you can also use the device switch method using BB Link

Keep your contacts synced with either yahoo! or gmail and any phone you connect either mail address to will have access to your contacts and you never have to worry about losing phone contacts again

Etisalat has put a permanent lock down on BIS on Z10..you have to subscribe to their dedicated BB10 plan

etisalat BIS doesnt work on anything but old BBOS. it doesnt even work on the new BB10 devices

have you noticed that with BB10, you get suggestions on who to send a BBM request to?

this suggestion comes from all over the web...if someone on your friends list in twitter, facebook email etc has ever used a BB to access any of those service, BB10 allows you send them a BBM request

for some reason, i have not been super excited about installing leaked version of the BB10 OS since i got the device...all the leaked versions seem to be quite stable sha

as anybody started using BBM Channels? i have not had time to sit down with a PC and install it on my BBM.

just put in an airtel sim and check for update when you're in a wifi area, you'll be notified of the update

it is 10.1.0.273 and it allows you to download SKYPE and comes with a number of other improvements

airtel has also pushed the 10.1.x.Bleep update, so you can try airtel sim

TrebleChamp: Does the BB10 OS allow running apps at the background like Android? Those background app comsumes so much data.

BB10 multitasks excellently but the data footprint of background apps is not significant in my experience.
