vozkini: @walcolm,

Does it mean that its only Airtel and Glo BIS works on BB10 handset? If yes, is glo BIS not comonth working as well as Airtel BIS.

Do reply.
dedicated BB10 plans from all the networks work just fine. the network's preference is for you to buy the more expensive BB10 plan for your BB10 device.

Because of that, Etisalat and MTN have taken steps to actively block BB10 devices from running on their BIS network

Airtel and Glo on the other hand have not done that and Airtel much more than Glo is very liberal on their allowance. all airtel data plans works on BB10 devices

Glo CoMonth plan works just fine on BB10 which is what I currently use although I am not able to use 3G in lagos and I have to settle for EDGE network when i'm in lagos

so why don't u connect the device to a PC and see what happens?

lymelyte: I nor understand you @walcolm. Is it 1k now? Or still 1.4k
they could have reduced it to 1k in the last few days....the last time I renewed my Glo CoMonth BIS, it was still 1.4k

only their dedicated BB10 plan works...regular MTN BIS doesn't work on BB10 phones

obiscolly: Just recently I noticed my z10 battery drains very quickly after the phone warms up when I'm browsing on 3g. I don't know the cause and it's very annoying cos I have to put my phone on 2g almost all the time to preserve my battery life. I don't know if it's because of an application I installed that's causing this.
Does anyone have a similar experience?
its not unusual for battery to drain faster at higher network speed.....make sure you don't allow your battery to drain completely before you recharge

tonte: Thanks walcom, called mtn this am, and they said my 500mb is still intact, and I should hard reset, I have done that over 6 times, and still, nothing, now I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the apn settings or any other settings I dunno about
since you're using their dedicated BB10 plan, ask them what the APN setting is supposed to be

tonte: I just got the z10, wasted my money on glo for hours, and couldn't get any network, tried mtn midi, it started working, but almost immediately, t's not working again, so should I blame the network, or the whole500mb just finished?
looolllll

dedicated BB10 plans for all the networks should work just fine...

for a new BB10 device, blowing through 500MB is not unusual...the device is trying to download your data from your previous BB...almost all the apps you have will need to be updated and unlike BBOS, BB apps are no longer small.

BB10 OS has high def, full featured apps just like you have on android and iOS platform, webpages load fast and load full with all the graphics glory

try and read through this thread starting especially at post number 1

Rowybest: i have an airtel sim now. Pls how do i subscribe to enable me update.
is it a new airtel sim? if its an existing airtel sim that has been used to subscribe for BIS service before, it should be a breeze

if the airtel sim is new and this is the first BIS subscription, note that it might take up to 24hrs for the BIS to be fully functional.

subscribe to the airtel unlimited package. dial *440*16# once you load 1500 recharge card on ur sim

Rowybest: i am using mtn and do not have acess to wifi. Pls how do i go about it. Tnx in anticipatn.
if you have someone with an airtel sim and active data subscription, borrow it and put in your BB...once it settles in and you see that you can get data service, check for the OS update again...your phone should be able to detect the availability of the update

OR

If you have a phone that has mobile hotspot, turn it on and let your BB connect to that hotspot and check to see if your mtn sim will be able to detect the update

Rowybest: my dropbox pictures don't open in my fone, why?
can you see other files in your dropbox? the pictures in question were saved to dropbox from where?

Note:
Dropbox has to sync the pictures from one device to the 'cloud' before the pictures can now be rendered on another device e.g. pictures from your laptop has to sync to the dropbox 'cloud' and when you log on to dropbox from your BB, you will then be able to access those pictures

i remember advising you to update your OS to at least 10.1 or better still, 10.1MR. have u done that?

the problem you described could be a software issue which has been fixed with those updates listed or it could be faulty hardware like someone mentioned above

Please what do I do
you can't sideload directly to the BB10. you need a PC

you need to connect the BB10 device to a PC, download the .bar file and use appropriate software to sideload the app to the device

BLACKBERRY ID vs BLACKBERRY PIN

Folks,

as you are all aware, the BBM will be coming over to Android OS and iOS later this year. to help you prepare for the awesomeness that is about to come, i want to draw your attention to the importance of your Blackberry ID aka BBID as opposed to the world famous BB PIN

the PIN is unique to each BB device...so if you change your BB 10x a year, your PIN will change 10x in the year but the BBID on the other hand is a more pervasive element in the Blackberry experience

Since OS7, the BBID has become truly awesome in tying together every area of the Blackberry experience. so long as you maintain your BBID, your data (contacts, SMS, BBM list etc) follows you from device to device...gone are the days when you loose your BBM contact because ur BB got stolen or you bought a new BB

since Androids and iPhones don't have PIN, the BBID will become even more important going forward. those guys will use BBID exclusively to add BBM to their mobile life and all you have to do is give them your BBID and get their BBID to connect. i expect that they will be able to add BB users using the PIN but ultimately, BBID will become really popular because the BBID is an email address!!!!!

it is so much easier to remember an email address than to remember a PIN. i believe most BB users don't know other people's PIN offhand, heck, most can't even remember their own PIN offhand

did you know that you can initiate a BBM video to a BB10/Playbook acquaintance using the BBID rather than looking for the PIN?

so start getting comfortable with your BBID cool
