Back to your question, the most cost effective data plan for the BB10 devices (MB:Price ratio) is by Glo and Airtel depending on how fast they are in your area. They allow their vanilla BIS plan to work on BB10 devices. i will suggest the MONTHLY COMPLETE PLAN...

Don't waste your time with MTN and Etisalat unless you're ready to buy their more expensive BB10 data plan

i'm sure you should know by now that Nigerians naturally exploit each other. to cut your sim at the friendship centre for your network should be free but expect to be charged around 1000

stanhanks: that's the same thing I was wandering. Here's a solution: You mustn't find a stable wifi, any wifi would do. Even if you don't have the password. All you have to do is to go to Settings~>network connections~>Wifi. Scan, then select any available wifi. Then go to "software updates " then check for the update. Once you see it, start the download. The trick is you have to have an active data plan. Turns out the Z10 isn't as smart as it thinks. Since you don't have the password to the wifi it'll download over your mobile data but think it's downloading over wifi. Just in case you can't find locked wifi go near any of the big hotels near you. I used Golden tulip (formerly protea)...good luck bro.(Btw 10.1 is freaking AWESOME!!!)

actually, the Z10 is as smart as it thinks and it doesn't really stop you from using your mobile network to download large files...the message is just a notification to remind you and keep you in the know in case you overshoot your data cap and suffer PAYG data billing

The 4GB package is actually not a straight one but for those who have subscribed for N1500 bis previously and all u need to do is to dial *440*161#. So if u av subscribed for the 1500 bis previously then u are eligible for this 1+1 package

i dialed the code and got a message that i didnt qualify for the offer...i just subscribed to the glo BB10 midi plan for #1500

like @Amadika said, MTN and Etisalat have intentionally blocked regular BIS from working on the BB10 devices to force BB10 users to shell out more money for data plans....Glo and Airtel on the other hand have no qualms with the Z10 so their BIS plans work on the Z10. refer to my original post on this thread for guidance on the particular flavor of BIS to go for on the two networks to save yourself money

if you port, you loose your current BIS subscription and any other credit you have left on your MTN line

I just googled the BB10 plans and confirmed what u said about having a seperate plan for BB10, but the data cap is really small compared to the normal BB plans except for the unlimited BBM. Bro, I swear I still prefer my Curve 4 with etisalat, I download the whole world and my BIS remains intact.

you see yourself? you use the two networks that intentionally block regular BIS plans from working on the BB10 and you come here to complain about the phone rather than the networks

I will suggest your sister switch to Airtel BIS plan..it will work flawlessly

i don't use MTN but i know for both MTN and Glo, the APN setting that should be showing should be blackberry.net

if you just subscribed for the first time and you're having serious problem, calling Glo customer service should solve the prob

why do u post something so obviously untrue like this...sorry you got a defective unit but there are millions of the Q10 in use and are not experiencing what you are experiencing

i visit crackberry everyday and i'm sure you did not see 75% claim of defect...a recent survey just confirmed more Q10 users are very satisfied with the phone than even the Z10 users are satisfied with theirs

the contact name not showing in SMS is a region thing, i expect it should get fixed with time and yes, its because smart dialing is not set up properly in NIgeria. what happens is if you save contact the traditional way, the name will not show in SMS because SMS numbers come in full international format (+234.....). if you save your contacts in international format, when calls come in in traditional format, then the name wont show

i have used my Z10 in the USA and i can assure you it is not like that because they have a more structured database

stanhanks: I already have Crackberry app Bro . I'm not sure sha but I think you need OS 10.1 to get the new bbm that has bbm channels. I really need to update my Z -__-

no u don't need 10.1 to install BBM Channels..it is in beta and only beta testers have access to it all the way down to OS5

i get H+ in port harcourt and pretty much most places i travel to, youtube plays without stuttering and downloads are quite fast but its just that in lagos, it just doesn't work on my Z10 and i'm wondering why

Fhemmmy: It all depends on what you wanna use the phone for and what is of importance to you . . . As well as your budget, Iphone 5 is the most expensive of the bunch and communication with it is nice but if most of your other people are on Android or BB, then, might be a little different for you cos BBM is about to be on Androids

bbm will also get to the iPhone
