This years gift includes 16.59 million shares worth $2.1 billion for the Gates Foundation, the philanthropy operation of the world’s second-richest man Bill Gates ($79 billion), which focuses on causes like ending world poverty, aiding U.S. schools and improving birth control technology.
He also gave away $215 million to the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, an organization named for his late wife that provides scholarships for education. The Howard G. Buffett Foundation, the Sherwood Foundation and the NoVo Foundation — run by his children Howard, Susan and Peter, respectively — each received gifts worth $150 million.
Last year, the Berkshire Hathaway CEO donated 22.87 million shares worth $2.6 billion, including $2 billion for the Gates Foundation in addition to sizable gifts for his family’s charities.
Buffett and Gates, longtime partners in giving, are the world’s most generous philanthropists as well as the leading advocates of giving to other fellow billionaires. The duo introduced the The Giving Pledge in 2010, encouraging the world’s wealthy to commit to donating at least half of their fortunes to philanthropy during their lifetime or after they die. Buffett, who has pledged to give away 99% of his fortune, has given away nearly $23 billion so far. Gates leads all givers with $28 billion.

Whether first born or not, there are so many challenges we face as Nigerians. So many first born were given birth to outside wedlock even when the parents were not ready for marriage. This creates more challenges for the parents as well as the child.

From the Bible point of view,
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23). The Bible does not vindicates second born or whatever.

Lastly, how many second, third or whatever position is enjoying Nigeria with our present situation?. Also, whatever your position in the family from any of the 1st world countries, you all have equal opportunities of becoming somebody in life.

The Bible was not written by Nigerians, for Nigerians but for the whole world.

How in the world would my Ex be my best friend now that I'm married with 2 kids & she with 3 kids?

Though, she had been trying to get close to me but I disagreed 100% cos that might lead to Adultery & lost of respect not only from my wife but from God. Thank God I left Kano around 4pm yesterday for Lagos. I was shocked to hear of the bombing this morning. There was a killing a guy in Kano on Friday night by men suspected to be boko haram which created fear in my mind as a first timer in Kano.

This madam got to stop.

What a day. This madness has finally reached the city of calihpat adjourned to be the most peaceful state in the North. I must give glory to d Almighty God cos I was in Sokoto on Wednesday & left for Gusau, Kano, Dutse & finally in Damaturu on Thursday.

I was really shocked when I heard the ugly incidence of both Sokoto & Kano this morning. I left Kano around 4pm yesterday without any bombing apart from the killing of a guy announced on Friday night that was shot by some unknown gun men on bike.

This boko haram got to stop or else Nigerians would begin to leave for neighbouring countries like Cotonou, Lome & environs.

I was in Damaturu on Saturday morning, though no killing or bombing was reported as at then but the city of Damaturu was a ghost of itself according to the residents but I could see fears of death writing on the faces of Damaturians. I was so afraid that I left immediately with the next available cab to Jalingo.

Finally, I had made up my mind never to visit any of the Northern states until after 2 yrs of eradication of boko haram cos my first experience in the North is nothing to write home about.

I had declared the Northern states as no area for me & my entire family.

Mine is 10/10 cos I achieved far more than I planned for. Glory Be to the Lord in the highest. AMEN, AMEN & AMEN

The truth of the matter is that u cant stop this habit on your own or by ur power. U need a friend Jesus to help u. Also, u need to get involved in activities that discourages smoking. Have friends & relatives around u all the time that would never encourage u to smoke.

Hello, Having a Third Class is the greatest challenge any Nigerian student can face but that is not the end of the world. I am a Third Class graduate of Mechanical Engineering from Unilag but was never out of Job for One day after graduation since 2005. Immediately after graduation, I resumed with the company where I did my yr 4 Industrial attachment as a graduate Engr. with average salary. I also immediately started professional trainings like A+, CCNA, Web Design & Programming to enhance myself & cover up for my academic limitation(s) & to start a business of my own.

As at today, I work for an Engr. company as a Mechanical Engr. & I also work for myself in the areas of computer/Laptop repairs, Networking, Web Design & Programming.

If I can do this, you can do more.

All you need to do is to forget those negative things people would say about your inability to graduate with a better grade but focus your attention on your goal(s), future plans & aspirations. All this can take you beyond where your certificate can take u.

Also, do not forget to enroll for PGD in a course of interest & study hard to shame your accuser(s) that you are not a dumb as am doing right now.

Finally, do not be too proud to carry God along this journey of yours cos He is the only one that can comfort you indeed.
