You cannot drive with it alone, you need both that license and the international drivers license. You can see this same requirement on service Alberta website.

linuslynx:
Please clarify further and I'd also love the landed seniors to make inputs here. Do you imply that with my Local DL I can't drive when I arrive calgary for the first three months? My DL expires soon and I intend renewing but going by what you just said it makes no sense since I can't drive with it and I can still use the expired one to apply for Canadian DL.

Hi efam,

Just to share briefly our landing story. Left Lagos on 23rd june via ethiopian airlines with about 10bags family of 5. Flight was long but finally landed in Toronto on 24th. We passed immigration and customs with no issue, we filled declaration form and answered the questions correctly stating we had food items and money. They asked the type of food and amount of money but was not asked to be seen or counted. Our COPR was processed but the officer saw a thin line on our passport photo and asked if we have another to change to avoid delay in PR card issuance. I went with enough extra photo for the family so we dropped them. She asked if we have follow on items which I said yes so we can ship our stuffs tax free for the next 1yr but I do not know if she will just note this on the system as no form was given to fill. For earlier landees pls share knowledge on this if form is needed if more stuffs will be imported within 1yr. We went for our bags and had to pay the porter service for big trolley at $24, the bags were not checked so we dropped them on connection conveyor to Calgary and off to Calgary, we did not miss our flight to càlgary. You have to purchase food on that air Canada flight. We arrived safely. The next day we did SIN, Bank account. Trying to do health card, phone line and permanent accommodation. That's our story.
SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT FOR CALGARY BOUND IMMIGRANTS, YOU CAN ONLY DRIVE WITH BOTH YOUR LOCAL DL AND INTERNATIONAL DL FROM NIGERIA. I have always thought our local DL alone is sufficient to drive for 3mths.
I am trying to link up with the landed calgarians now.
Wish us all success in our journey.

Hello All,
Its a semi silent reader updating the house.
PPR early this morning following decision to stop my initial plan to request for GCMS note yesterday.

ITA - April 19 2017
Submission - July 17
AOR- July 17
MP - Few days post AOR
PPR - Nov 8
LVO Alumni

The experience for me is to follow the simple rules of the application process then no LVO can STOP you cos you can defend every aspect of your application. I believe they had a lot to do on my application based on my profile, 3 PCCs for me and spouse cos we lived and worked out there, wife cumulatively stayed in US for about 175days but i did not get FBI PCC, Used mosalasi marriage certificate and wify's name change affidavit-i have always used that, travelled to some African countries for work so frequently that number of times and period spent cannot be determined so I only stated as many as I can and mentioned this in the loe, 2kids American and 1 Canadian sure they may want to know if I don chop medicaid, masters from UK school online, refused US visa once with spouse which we stated and finally itinerant like travel history. Despite all these profile details, no ADR came.

I struggled to write this much cos am not that e-vocal but did this with these details just to allay the fears of our people regarding VOs. The focus should be on tieing all ends of our application and not about how VO will treat.

I thank God and wish us all a happy ending.

Dears, this SUKUK offer makes some sense compared to the FGN bond and with respect to the TB declining rate. How secured is our fund though I read that its backed by FGN. I also did not get the full prospectus yet to get some more details. Anyone has it? Is it something that we should shook head in grin grin

Dear All,

Can anyone confirm if their primary bid application for today's CBN bid has been confirmed by their bank? I am asking because I have heard from Stanbic that their global market unit informed them that TB is on hold thus all customer application will not be treated. And that they will inform when they have a go ahead to process applications.

What is the situation with your bank? Is there really a CBN auction today and for which tenors?
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by walexlo78: 3:08pm On Sep 07, 2017
NL1960, I am not against them making legal money. CBN regulation guides all banking operations. They are free to make money on the primary auctions based on the fees, commissions etc but not to make spread more so if other banks are not doing that. For secondary sales they are making as they want because they determine the sales price to the investor. Can you imagine how much money they make on the TB volume base?
NL1960:

Haba Oga, na only you wan chop alone?. Allow them also chop small now so that they can pay salaries and not sack workers. grin
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by walexlo78: 10:24pm On Sep 06, 2017
Good observation NL, this is also part of the post I just shared now. Those guys are playing a terrible game there. I am still looking for that CBN regulation that allows banks or any agency to make spread on investors capital apart from those known statutory fees for TB.

chyima:

there is something I noticed about GTb rate it has never exceeded 18.1%,since the beginning of this year.is this on purpose or they trade above this rate and 'hijack' the excess above that for their company gain.
I had to start using Stanbic when it was becoming consistent, who else has noticed it

Hello GT customers, please don't panic about your investment not showing on your internet banking platform, it's the least of things that should worry you. It's a system glitch and you will wàke up one day to see it again. Am sure you would have received an electronic debit àlert and possibly investment statement. One thing you should ensure is to get your investment certificate always done on their letter head. I am a gtb customer for more than 10yrs and deal in TB with them since some years now so I have experienced several including this one.

However, I stopped dealing in TB with them because they started playing games. Example, in the last auction they offered 364days to investors at 18.1% as mentioned here while stanbic offered 18.28% thereabout. That's a big gap, it appears they are making some spread on investors fund because I do not see reason why they would bid this low at 18.1% when the last marginal rate from upper week's bid was about 18.5%.

Gavrelino123:

Good morning
Have you checked if it's reflecting on your Treasury Bills online banking Account..?
I'm worried because mine is not still reflecting only my old investments maturing next month is there..

Any suggestion please

walexlo78:
Hello House, please I need your advice. In addition to Nigeria, I have worked in another country with legal residency status. While in the country, I was responsible for two other countries (visa free) around the region and I travelled to them very often. So when I was filling my travel history in the PR application, I dropped some of the travels (about 12) to those two countries because I looked them as so much and difficult to retrieve as there was stamp riot in my passports. I thought the VO should not spend time looking for such stamps not mentioned on the travel history form. The missed travels to each of the countries were short official ones which totals about 20days each so its not that I needed PCC for them. I already submitted PCCs for those necessary.

But today something keep pricking me that I should have listed all those travels irrespective of how much they were. I took time today to write them out from the clumsy stamps. My question is, should I go ahead to communicate these travels raising a CSE?. Maybe I can mention that I missed them out initially due to the clumsy stamps on the passports.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I have read it up on CIC site and it is mentioned that they will return any excess payment after processing.
Maybe I should wait for final processing because I did not see any other process or way to follow to make the refund request on their site.

Dears,

I have a Canadian dependent who lives here with us in Nigeria. He was not requested to do medical as there was also no placeholder to upload it and after submission of the eAPR, his name was also not listed as one of the dependents where UCI is placed against each name. When we paid the fees, his also came automatically as part of the total fees and we paid.

My question is that, has anyone with Canadian dependent experienced same situation? Should we also pay the fees for dependent that already has Canadian citizenship?. Thanks for your response in advance.
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by walexlo78: 4:09pm On Aug 09, 2017
For a decision, please ensure you compare the farming investment ROI rate with the TB's true yield and not the marginal rate. For 364 days at 18.48% marginal rate, true yield before fees is about 22.7% while after fees is about 22.5%.

CuteRedd:

@this thriveagric just copied everything about farmcrowdy

Sure nice to have a competitor in a growing potential market

If you chose the cassava option, the yield isn't far better than what you can get on the secondary market. In the past, I'd gotten 18.25% for roughly 9 months

well 25% is greater and not prorated also thriveagric has better ROI with shorter tenures and i can buy more than one tho

Remember that it is only your principal that is insured. Profit isn't

Exactly that's the only issue tho but willing to take the risk

Can you please explain the compounding system of First Bank?

TONY56:

Why not? Especially when there are better and more profitable Banks than GTB when it comes to Treasury Bills.
First Bank I think should be your next port of call because they allow compounding interest and their rates are ALWAYS better than GTB which I consider to be "Stingy"
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by walexlo78: 10:24am On Aug 09, 2017
Hi, something I think about this subject is if one can hold 3 citizenship I.e Nigerian, Canadian and American. If one has to drop one by law am thinking one may want to choose US cos Canadian citizenship may already give same opportunities as American. One may still like to keep the nigerian citizenship maybe just to maintain the root. With this view, it may be better to submit the Nigerian passport as I don't know the implication of withdrawing the citizenship with which the PR was granted. Your views house.

yokus:
I believe either the USA passport or the Nigerian Passport can be submitted. I intend to submit the USA Passports because the kids will probably use that more for travelling that doesn't include Nigeria.

Hi, in filling the application it's always asked which passport are you travelling with and they also asked if you have more than one citizenship. Any of the passport can be submitted, however if US is submitted they will not place visa in the passport but there is a document that will be issued which I have seen before.

Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by walexlo78: 11:58pm On Aug 05, 2017
Winneygirl, no that's not true. The bank determines their bid rate ahead of the auction, that is the rate they pull investors fund together to also bid on in addition to their own fund as a bank. You can always ask them their intended bid rate when you are dropping your application.

Winneygirl:

Who told you their bid rate before the auction?
You can't know the rate until after the auction.
D only thing you can know ahead is the last auctions rate.
It is only secondary market rate you get to know upfront before the investment.
