I can't but agree in totality with you. It's so sad that we the ordinary people would rather fight and abuse ourselves than come together regardless of tribes and initiate a way on how to deliver ourselves from these blood sucking vampires we call leaders. I agree with you that Nigerian politicians are the same, no matter the region they are from. In fact if you pay close attention you will realize that they are mostly from the same gang.

What I find depressing is when we the masses think that this is Igbo vs Yoruba vs Hausa, when in reality it is the masses vs the ruling class (which cuts across different tribes). Every successive government in this country have people from different region (though in varying proportion), yet it is very easy to point fingers.

Ironsi did bring in the decree but we should not absolve him (whatever his reason was) as well as those that chose to implement it and that have actually benefited from it. They are all the same ( All the past military leaders in Nigeria are from the same cloak).

Every states has had representatives and governors and there is no single state that is punching within its weight. None of these states are recalling their representatives or even governors. The governors end up at the center to join their gang leaders that they helped rig into office.

Please it was a military decree and Gowon was a military leader why didn't he repeal it? What about Buhari, ObJ, Abacha and IBB? They were all military leaders and never repealed it. Ironsi never lived long to implement it. Take Kano for instance, the new governor just undid a law the previous one passed that they are not comfortable with.

Nigeria's crude oil Bonny light at the time I commented last month on Nairaland was commanding a premium of $9 over the WTI blend which Dangote is bidding for

A number of points to note
A refinery can be set of to refine sweet light blends like ours or a variety of cheaper high sulfur content crudes

Dangote made a strategic decision when building his refinery to set it up so it can refine virtually all types of crude
That would have meant higher set up cost

Why would he do that??

From the get go he was never planning to be reliant on one typr of crude or Nigerian crude

The location of his refinery and the fact that it is set up o receive crude from TANKERS and not by pipeline from the Niger delta should confirm that to anyone

Nigeria does not have the capacity take up many of the other products of crude refining apart from diesel and petrol

So there is no imperative to use the more expensive Bonny light

It makes sense to sell it and pocket that $9 a barrel difference assuming it was Dangote that owned the Nigerian crude

$9 a barrel X 1.4 million X 365 is a lot of money.
Those who need and can better use the Bonny light will pay for it

Spain has a refining capacity of over 1.5 million barrels a day much of which they export

Do a Google search for largest 10 refineries in the world you will find them in India Singapore Korea etc countries that are not known oil producers

If you have capital and knowhow you can set up a refinery anywhere

They are SEPARATE BUSINESS

Just like there is no major chocolate manufacturing business in West Africa despite producing most of the world's cocoa

Let me use this medium to explain what's happening in this crude oil importation by dangote in layman language.

During the last administration, Buhari Administration infact, Nigeria borrowed so much from the foreign countries such as China, India, America etc......

The government MOU for payback on the borrowing was an agreement of Crude oil lifting thus equivalent to the Crude oil lifted plus interest charges. It's quite a stupid negotiation if you ask me cos there's no way it can be equalized to the product been lifted and beside, Fx ain't constant as per the market factors. This decision is one of those stupid decision Buhari and his gang plus NNPC took while in power.

Presently, most of our crude oil are been lifted without payback cos the debts is been deducted as agreed in the MOU. That's the reason we can't produce or rather generate enough crude to supply dangote and others.

Though that is not the only obstacle but also the crude theft and also illegal bunkering. All these makes it very difficult and impossible for Nigeria to supply dangote enough Crude oil for continuous production. Hope you guys know that when a refinery starts producing, it's better and less expensive to keep it running than to stop and later reactivate it. Refinery must have more than enough product before it starts running and producing and shouldn't stop for no reason except there's an overhaul or a major disruption to equipment.

I can't still believe this is happening. I am CCTV installation apprentice. Last month, my oga got a job in another state that will take a month to complete. He called me and told me to pack up a few of my things so I can go with him for the work.

I packed up and we both travelled. Few days later, a Friend called me and explained to me that he had some one who was in my area and was stranded. He was pleading if I could accommodate him in my one room apartment for 2 weeks so he can find his feet. I told my friend that I wasn't in town but I left my key with my neighbour.

On Wednesday, I came back to meet my gas cooker and my pots gone. My bed sheet gone. He took my good curtains someone dashed me and left the curtain torn in many places for me. My wall hanger I nailed on the wall for hanging my clothes is gone and my standing fan spoilt beyond repair.
