Omg! Thanks for your reply. I was about typing the same reply. I wonder why most people in Nigeria hardly read or listen to news. I am aware of Olusosun at Ojota and this recycling company has been functioning over two decade now. I think they also have another at Igando axis or so , also Surulere etc....and all these companies recycle Lagos state waste into raw materials for some specific companies in Lagos. You have said everything. I have tried explaining to him too. You don't even need an expensive mechanic to fix it as long as you can research and understand the issue yourself. I practically told my mechanic what to do till the end cos I have researched and understood the issue like ABC. Though my own particles were still intact the cannister but sticked together. I guess, it's possible that his mechanic used something to push the particles into the storage tank from the canister charcoal cluster house. Highly possible, using force to clear the entrance of the fuel channel from outside...this act can burst the cluster house and set those charcoal free into the fuel chamber/ storage.......that's the picture of the canister you have there my guy. He should know what to do right from where, I think we have tried.......

People have given you replies here. i can tell you for a fact that it is the charcoals found in your Vapor CANISTER aka charcoal cannister . This canister is attached to the fuel line. it absoves the odur and gases from your petrol. How it got into your fuel tank is what i can't understand. the picture below is where the charcoal is in .

You are perfectly right. I had the same experience with my Hyundai Sonata, they are both more of the same family with the OP's Kia Optima I believe. My experience was that whenever I buy full tank or even buying fuel....the shoot out of my fuel tanker as the dispensing machine is still filling up, unless, you start dispensing the fuel little by little. I managed it for some months until I went to my auto mechanic but before then, i did obd2 scan on it cos a code later came out from the dashboard. The code Is what I can't remember now but the code directed me to the exact problem of charcoal canister and is rightly located at the mouth of the fuel tank. Located at the mouth of the fuel tank under the car and not the fuel tank entering point of fuel. Please note that. Then I went to my auto mechanic, I first complained but saw that he wasn't really following what was wrong as explained on YouTube on how to rectify that issue, so I showed him the video on how to rectify it. He went under the car and removed the narrow connector connecting the fuel tanker mouth outside with the main fuel tank(fuel storage) under the car. He didn't drop the tank please. It's from the connection you will see the canister chamber, specifically for housing fuel pressure during buying of fuel and hot weather. My own cannister hasn't broken like yours I guess but already sticked together inside the canister. The same particles as yours and same color. We removed it, gently tapped it with spanner so that it can be separated from the body of the canister, then gave it to vulcanizer to use air pressure to blow it out....the particles were so much just like yours....and thereafter we fixed it back without those particles and I cleared the code with my obd2 and ever since ok and running. Hope you can do the same but incase you need more advise, send me a mail to my signature under. Regards

I agree with you that Nigerian politicians are the same, no matter the region they are from. In fact if you pay close attention you will realize that they are mostly from the same gang.

What I find depressing is when we the masses think that this is Igbo vs Yoruba vs Hausa, when in reality it is the masses vs the ruling class (which cuts across different tribes). Every successive government in this country have people from different region (though in varying proportion), yet it is very easy to point fingers.

Nigeria's crude oil Bonny light at the time I commented last month on Nairaland was commanding a premium of $9 over the WTI blend which Dangote is bidding for

A number of points to note
A refinery can be set of to refine sweet light blends like ours or a variety of cheaper high sulfur content crudes

Dangote made a strategic decision when building his refinery to set it up so it can refine virtually all types of crude
That would have meant higher set up cost

Why would he do that??

From the get go he was never planning to be reliant on one typr of crude or Nigerian crude

The location of his refinery and the fact that it is set up o receive crude from TANKERS and not by pipeline from the Niger delta should confirm that to anyone

Nigeria does not have the capacity take up many of the other products of crude refining apart from diesel and petrol

So there is no imperative to use the more expensive Bonny light

It makes sense to sell it and pocket that $9 a barrel difference assuming it was Dangote that owned the Nigerian crude

$9 a barrel X 1.4 million X 365 is a lot of money.
Those who need and can better use the Bonny light will pay for it

If you have capital and knowhow you can set up a refinery anywhere

They are SEPARATE BUSINESS

Just like there is no major chocolate manufacturing business in West Africa despite producing most of the world's cocoa

Let me use this medium to explain what's happening in this crude oil importation by dangote in layman language.

During the last administration, Buhari Administration infact, Nigeria borrowed so much from the foreign countries such as China, India, America etc......

The government MOU for payback on the borrowing was an agreement of Crude oil lifting thus equivalent to the Crude oil lifted plus interest charges. It's quite a stupid negotiation if you ask me cos there's no way it can be equalized to the product been lifted and beside, Fx ain't constant as per the market factors. This decision is one of those stupid decision Buhari and his gang plus NNPC took while in power.

Presently, most of our crude oil are been lifted without payback cos the debts is been deducted as agreed in the MOU. That's the reason we can't produce or rather generate enough crude to supply dangote and others.

Though that is not the only obstacle but also the crude theft and also illegal bunkering. All these makes it very difficult and impossible for Nigeria to supply dangote enough Crude oil for continuous production. Hope you guys know that when a refinery starts producing, it's better and less expensive to keep it running than to stop and later reactivate it. Refinery must have more than enough product before it starts running and producing and shouldn't stop for no reason except there's an overhaul or a major disruption to equipment.
