which visa can i use to work in the states legally as a graduate here in nigeria?
Are you going there to work or study huh

Each visa have their own policy... With student visa you can only work 20hours a week, there H1 or H1B am not sure but I don't know much about.

If i get admitted in another state for studies can i use my student visa to work and stay where i have my relatives?
If I am not wrong this your question shows and reveal your main purpose of travelling to US.

Anyway you can use your student visa to work on campus for 20hours and working off campus you might need authorisation if you haven't spend certain semester if not you face panel.

Hello House, am applying to some universities for post graduate studies which will commence on January 2017, but my Nigerian passport will expire on October 2017.

Should I renew it?, And how can I renew it?
You can only renew your passport maximum of 6 months to the expiring date..

So take chill pie first until then.

Don't mind them, things are hard but they are not ready to come back to Nigeria at all but still dwelling in the UK where they claimed that things are hard.

Hi everyone thanks for your good works here

Am a graduate of pharmacology I have an aunt in California los Angeles who has always wanted me to travel and live in the States,Sad enough she took up a project at home that can't enable her sponsor me for the masters course i intended applying for.

Ystda I reminded her about coming ovr there that I want to come and stay with her for a year and work while I live with her she agreed saying the major issue is moving to the States.

Please am not coming through studies which other route is safer for me i don't want issue of visa denial or whatevr I intend going for masters degree by 2018.

Thanks hoping to hear from u all
Its better to do the right thing because using another route more than student route then you must be ready to prove serious home ties..

I'll advise you use the same signature to prevent stories that touch. You don't know when nor where someone will notice the discrepancy. Even if the VO doesn't see it, the POE immigration officer might notice the difference...Just maybe
You are right but we should not forget that there is nothing bad if someone have more than one signature.. Even in US the way they sign is different from our own way and majority used their names if I am not wrong.

I'm going for UG... is GA available for that category?
You get scholarship if you can write SAT or TOEFL/IELTS with a good score and only if you meet the requirement of the schools you applied to and GA is for student who applied for masters degree

Pls in evaluating by WES, will I have to send it directly to the school or jst upload my own copy to the school's portal
WES will contact your school to confirm the authenticity of the transcript before they start the evaluation.

It depend on schools because after your evaluation and you want to send to more schools, you can scan your own copy to the schools or you will just go to WES portal and apply for the evaluated transcript to be send to any schools you want to apply to.

Most schools always ask for official copy from WES instead of scan copy.

The person at the Western union no know him work be that ..... i paid 2 people Sevis in london this may and then in june . All i did was take the print out from the system and took it to western union on the high street. D attending guy told me what d pound equivalent was and we were done in less than 5 mins in both cases. Less than 24hours later payment was reflected.maybe ur brother didnt go with the printout so d WU guy didnt know what he wanted

The western union guy in one case immediately knew what i was talking abt which made me feel others have done it as well. If i remember in the other, d man at first didnt know what i wanted but checked his system and saw what i needed done. If in doubt ask ur brother to go back there and tell the attending person to ask a colleague or the manager. It done easily in any western union in uk, that i am very sure of because i went to 2 separate WU money shop .
Don't mind the guy joor, he didn't know that his brother told him a parable he can't decode. gringringrin

I don't think this is true cos I asked my brother in the UK to help with SEVIS payment . He was told in Western Union office that such payment can not be made there
Sorry to say or ask this; do you send the money to your brother yourself or he wanted to use his money to pay for you like giving you as an assistancehuh

If No then the story about UK people (Nigerian) hardly give money to their home people is what I can imagine here and he surely deceived you as well.

Western union in UK can make the payment for Sevis fee, kindly imagine Cotonou using the platform and UK can't use it, don't you think is absurd to hear thathuh

I could remember someone here more than a year now, (s)he Sevis fee was paid all the way from UK.

Chai! And I was here thinking maybe it's one of the fallout of CBN's restrictions on our accounts in regards to foreign transactions.

Naija my country!

Well thanks... ama now roll back to my silent viewing cheesy
Is not that at all because before the fallout of CBN's restrictions on our account its not allowed even since student have been paying for Sevis fee

Our leaders in CBN and banks can turn the levels to money laundering and business the same way they are doing to exchange rate now

Hello everyone, many thanks to our gurus in the house for all your insightful posts. Please what's your opinion on IGlobal University in Virginia? I got an offer for their MBA program without GRE/Toefl scores, and its the only school in the US that I applied to. Hope applying to only one school and not having GMAT/GRE/Toefl scores won't have any negative effect during my visa interview.

Looking forward to your response, thanks a lot!

I believe the school will have reasons why they waived those tests for you and offered you admission so you need to ask them but I strongly advice you to write one or two of the test so that it can boost your chances and also portray you as a serious and genuine student during visa interview.

Aside from the above statement it will help you when securing funding either before you leave here or when you get there..

Juls1603:
Good morning house.

Went to pay my SEVIS fee at Cotonou yesterday and here is how it went.

I first went to Maza Maza to take Young shall grow and they said 10k because I have not travelled to Cotonou before with that passport so it is technically a virgin passport according to the immigration.

I was advised to go back to mile 2 and take a cheaper bus that will take me direct into Cotonou which I did, it cost 3,500 (4 passangers). When we got half way, the driver asked if we wanted to stamp our passports or not.

I asked how much and he said to stamp is about 5,000 but if we don't want to stamp it, we will pay 2,000. We all decided to pay the 2,000.

Getting to the boarder, he took a back end and was paying some money at every stop and they were so many. At some point he asked the guys to assist him with some money.

Anyway we got to Seme and I saw the Eko bank, it has a western union banner hanging from it.

I went in and told them I wanted to pay SEVIS fee and was told it would cost 134,000 CFA and I have to go outside to change my money as I had naira.

I went to change at 1,700 CFA for 1,000 naira. My cash wasn't enough so I went to use the ATM which didn't work with my card.

I was advised to go back to Nigeria to use the ATM which will cost me alot of money because of the immigration fees.

Luckily , I met a Nigerian bike guy who told me he could take me across the boarder for 1,000 naira, I agreed but told him I wanted a place to keep my money just incase of any thing, he took me to an igbo food seller who agreed to keep my bag.

I gave her the bag but before then I took my money and hid it on me, and so we went just with my ATM card and phone. (The reason I decided to keep my bag with the woman was to make the bike guy know I did not have any money on me just incase he wanted to set me up which is something they do).

We started the journey and he took some shady routes (which also has check points), we got somewhere and he asked me to come off the bike and get on another, I was scared but obeyed, he reassured and explained that the other guy was a custom guy so he will not be stopped, that it was just to cross the Cotonou boarder and he (my bike guy) will take over.

I got on the other bike and we crossed without disturbance. When he got to the Nigerian part, I got off and continued with my bike guy and I went to withdraw the money and we went back same way.

(Please note that it was because I did not have enough cash that is why I went through all that, so my advice is to carry excess cash just incase)

After we got back, I went to get my bag and also changed the money and went back to the bank.

They assisted me to fill the form and requested for my ( I20, international passport and the printed copy of my I901 form that has the coupon number), I showed a picture of my i20 I took on my phone, gave them my passport which they made a copy and also my I901 form.

I filled the form and submitted, paid the money and 1,000 CFA was returned back to me.

And I returned back to Nigeria paying another 1,000 to the bike guy.

20mins later, I received a mail from fmjfee.com that my payment has been received.

*******THE END *********
You try and you get 2k to spend when you can even pay just #100 each at two check points with your student ID card or I20 if you have asked for OT on how to get it inside border and come out..

Thank God for journey mercy and that those people no scam you or run with your money.

Check your email because I sent you pm

To get US student visa is not a day job and you must work towards it in order to get it.

There are steps involved and also money is involved and your parents must be able to sponsor and pay for you school fee as well.
