Procedures are officially underway for the conversion of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic to the Moshood Abiola University Of Technology.

The Ogun State House of Assembly, on Thursday, acknowledged receipt of the bills from governor Ibikunle Amosun. The bills also included the establishment, incorporation, constitution and functions of the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia.

The governor's letter was read by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Suraju Ishola Adekunbi.

A film is being made about the life of American astronaut Neil Armstrong, popularly known as the first man to step on the moon.

He will be played by actor Ryan Gosling in the movie, which will begin shooting next year. The movie will be directed by Damien Chazelle, reuniting him with his La La Land star, Gosling.

This is exciting news for movie lovers, as La La Land is currently nominated in 7 categories at the 2017 Golden Globes.

Singer Trey Songz spent one of his last nights of 2016 in jail after throwing a tantrum at the Big Show At The Joe concert at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.

The promoters of the show had warned the R&B crooner that once his time was up, they were going to cut him off, done or not. True to their words, as soon as Trey's set entered overtime, they flipped the switch.

Trey Songz, 32, was mad (despite the fact that he was repeatedly warned), and proceeded to enter Hulk mode. He threw things into the crowd and kicked in a speaker. He threw around a lot of sound equipment, and even ripped a drum open.

A number of football stars have quit European football for Chinese money, and the latest is former Manchester United striker, Carlos Tevez.

Tevez had left Juventus 2 seasons ago to play for his hometown club, Boca Juniors. Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenshua however revealed today that they paid the Argentine side a transfer fee of 9 million pounds.

"The club looks forward to Tevez helping Greenland Shenhua attack cities and strike stockades in Asian and domestic matches and contribute to more exciting games for fans," Shanghai Shenshua said in a statement, calling him "the most outstanding striker in Argentina's history".

Actress Carrie Fisher has passed on after suffering a heart attack on a flight to Los Angeles. She was aged 60.

Her most famous role was as Princess Leia Organa in the Star Wars franchise. She had recently completed shooting for the next movie in the franchise, Episode VIII.

The entire film industry, including stars and fans have all shared tributes for the actress of one of the most iconic roles of all time.

Popular singer Kiss Daniel was attacked by armed robbers while performing on stage at the Calabar Christmas Village.

There were numerous gunshot and stabbing victims in the incident, though it was not clear if anybody died in the incident.

According to reports, Kiss Daniel was on stage performing Mama, when bottles began to fly towards the stage.

A new experimental vaccine against Ebola has proven 100% effective against the virus in clinical trials, as steps continue to fully eradicate the disease.

The results of the trial were published in a study in the Lancet medical journal. It was titled "Efficacy and effectiveness of an rVSV-vectored vaccine in preventing Ebola virus disease: final results from the Guinea ring vaccination, open-label, cluster-randomised trial," and led by Dr. Ana Maria Henao Restrapo.

Over 11,300 people died during an outbreak of the disease between 2013 and 2015. The vaccine was first tested in Guinea, and very promising preliminary results prompted the World Health Organization to allow a widespread administration.

Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko lost his wife, Henrietta, some months back, and plenty rumors had begin to fly as to the affairs of the actor.

Henrietta was the 3rd wife Kosoko would lose, and one of such rumors was propagated by Kemi Olunloyo, who had claimed that the actor was using his wives for rituals.

Opening up on her comments, Kosoko said they didn't mean anything to him as it was just her opinion. He also revealed that he wasn't bothered as her father, a former governor of Oyo state, had called him to apologize.

The Nigerian Football Federation has denied claims that coaches receive bribes from agents to include their players in national team squads.

The claim was made by former Super Eagles player Daniel Amokachi. “Agents always come to give money for their players to be invited to camp,” said Amokachi. “Does it have to be so?”

“We know this thing has been going on for a while but we have to voice it,” the current manager of Finnish second tier side JS Hercules told BBC Sport.

A terrible run of results has resulted in Crystal Palace sacking manager Alan Pardew, with the club announcing the decision on Thursday.

Pardew had replaced Neil Warnock last season, and had guided the Eagles to the FA Cup final last season, where they lost to Manchester United.

Months after Jhene Aiko filed for divorce from husband Dipo 'Dot Da Genius' Omishore, it's all getting a bit messy in court.

When she filed for divorce, Aiko had filed to prevent Omishore for receiving spousal support. Omishore is having none of it though, and has applied for spousal support, while he won't be paying any alimony. He also wants her to pay his lawyer fees.

The duo had been married for just over 2 years, even though Aiko had spent the latter half of it flaunting her new relationship with rapper Big Sean. She had been accused on multiple accusations of cheating on Omishore, but denied them, claiming their fall out was all his fault.

Nokia have filed lawsuits in US and Germany against fellow phone makers Apple for violating 32 technology patents.

In a lawsuit the day before, Apple had accused Acacia Research and Conversant Intellectual Property Management of planning with Nokia to "extract and extort exorbitant revenues unfairly and anticompetitively from Apple."

Facebook, Twitter and Google have been handed lawsuits by the families of three victims of the homophobic attack on the Pulse nightclub in Orlando in June.

The attack was carried out by a radicalized shooter, Omar Marteen, and the lawsuit alleges that the uncontrolled spread of ISIS propaganda on the defendants' platforms allowed his radicalization.

Tevin Eugene Crosby, Juan Guerrero, and Javier Jorge-Reyes were among 49 people killed in the attack, and their families are suing the internet giants for allowing the explosive growth of ISIS.

Snow fell for a full day in the Sahara desert (No need to clean your eyes, you read right) on the 19th of December, 2016.

It was the second time ever such an incident would ever occur. The only previous time was on the 18th of February, 1979, when it snowed for about 30 minutes.

The anomaly occurred in the near the small Algerian town of Ain Sefra. Photographer Karim Bouchetata took photos of the snow-covered red sands of the desert.
