Clearly, it is both of you who don't understand that English is versatile and very flexible. Please, try to understand a writer's tone/context before y'all begin to play online grammarians. The management of Baze University is just exploiting the students and cashing out. All they do every session is to increase tuition while cutting down the benefits that is supposed to come with paying higher fees. Each room was assigned with a refrigerator, but they eventually removed it. So many complaints, but still no change. The fate of their medical students is uncertain because the course is yet to be accredited. Given that the students are paying over 7 Million per session, I consider it a rip off. To think the man that owns the school is the same man that wants to change Nigeria is laughable.

Hmnn..this news finally made it here. Ironically, the boy's grandma was my mom's colleague. I heard they plucked out the woman's eyes after killing her. I am still trying to understand the motive behind killing them and I still don't get it. This is because they were killed before they called the family to demand for ransom. I think it was more of a rituals related murder.

Kidnapping for ransom is now a thriving business because the security agents are not doing enough to curtail the situation. And to the posters above who mentioned Fulani...this is for you....Since kidnapping is now a profitable business, every Nigerian tribe is now involved; same way they started POS business when it became lucrative. Recently, a year plus old baby was kidnapped from a creche in Abuja alongside his nanny by a Tiv man and a ransom was demanded. They still went ahead to kill the victims after the ransom was paid. Fortunately, the man was apprehended and his accomplice was an Ibo man.

My point is, no tribe is innocent of this growing menance and knowing Nigerians, they won't stop as long as people keep paying ransom and the security agents cannot use the ransom as bait to nab them. At this rate, since the government cannot protect its citizens, we must rise up to defend ourselves. I can imagine what the victims are going through and I don't wish that on anyone, but they should have it in mind that they are dealing with their fellow humans and the reason they are scared is because they are not armed. In other words, they are not afraid of the kidnappers but only afraid of their guns. What if they device a means to disarm them instead of waiting to die like cowards? I'm just thinking out loud.

Withdraw both your son and the girl to be helping out your wife. I'm not sure, but I doubt if your wife would make such a demand if she were your biological daughter. A girl in basic five should be around nine or ten years. Don't you think she is too young to shoulder the responsibilities of a nanny?

Op, honestly, what your wife is asking for is not out of the ordinary, but her intentions may not be good. I say this because one of my older sisters was transferred to an afternoon school at the age of 11 years so she could cater for my lil bro. If she weren't my mom's biological daughter, people would have castigated my mom for this. Although my sister, (now late) never really forgave my mom for that and always complained bitterly for being treated differently. So, let me ask you three questions. If you can honestly asnwer them, then you are good to go.

Firstly, do you think your wife would have made such an outrageous demand if the little girl were your biological daughter? Secondly,do you think your wife have good intentions towards the girl? Thirdly, do you think what she is asking of you is right? if you answer yes to the three questions, then go ahead and oblige her request, otherwise, then you know what to do.

By the way, reading through the comments, you would think most Nigerians are saints. Interestingly no one has taken your wife's side.This has got me wondering...if we have such nice people in the country, how come we still hear stories of kids getting mistreated by their benefactors?

I'm one of those that believe the largese was wasteful.

We should set our priorities right.

Our educational system is in shambles... how many people get rewarded for doing exceptionally well in that sector or in technological or even technical innovations.

It's not hate. The super falcons have done well and it right to appreciate their efforts. But we should also set our priorities in the right order to get a rounded balance.

The IGP just came out to say the pension of Nigerian Police officers that give a better part of their life to the service of the country is miserable.

Back to the topic, something like this happened in my neighborhood back then. In that case, the woman was a community palliative who used to cheat on her husband. So, one day, the man confronted her about her philandering habits and when the argument escalated, her brothers came to teach the man a lesson...Unfortunately for them the man was a nice man and when guys in the neighborhood got wind of what was happening, they mobilized themselves, invaded the apartment and gave the woman's brothers the beating of their lives. The man was so grateful for what the neighborhood boys did for him, but at the end of the day, the marriage ended.
