would you put your photo out there on social media for the world as a survivor to attempted kidnap!

Where in Nigeria would a man claim to train a girl in school and it becomes a yardstick to abduct her before the public ?

So people gathered and a yam seller identified the victim and the woman showed her ID to verify her name and this man got back into the vehicle and ran?

Sometimes alexithymia is both hereditary and lack of prioritization of family members responsible for y.o.u.r upkeep.
would you put your photo out there on social media for the world as a survivor to attempted kidnap!

And why not? If people who who were really kidnapped in the past showed their faces on social media, what makes you think a victim of an attempted kidnap shouldn't or can't show her face?

Where in Nigeria would a man claim to train a girl in school and it becomes a yardstick to abduct her before the public ?
It appears you lack comprehension issues. Didn't you read the part where it was stated that it was a new format that kidnappers are using to get some of their victims?

So people gathered and a yam seller identified the victim and the woman showed her ID to verify her name and this man got back into the vehicle and ran?

He didn't run but escaped in his car. Is that too much to understand?

Sometimes alexithymia is both hereditary and lack of prioritization of family members responsible for y.o.u.r upkeep

This has got to be the dumbest statement I will read on Nairaland this year. Are you the medical professional that diagnosed her with alexithymia or you just heard about the word today and decided to throw it around?
FamilyRe: Would You Still Continue To Give This Woman Money ? by We4all: 8:38am On Sep 13, 2025
Apogee14:
Ok it's a cleaner lady in my building who is commissioned to come every two days. She lives three streets away so I know she doesn't have to pay for transport but am sure the cleaner money is very low according to her back then it was like 31k before they did that minimum wage thing. Anyway I make it a point to toss like 1000 into her account like maybe once a week or even more. It just depends because some times I chop chin for like 2 weeks before giving her. Anyway so I decided instead of free money let me get her to do something small for me once in a while. I pile up my trash just at the side of my apartment before I get the chance to take it outside to the dumpster , it's not a lot of trash, like 3 small nylon bags of trash. So I would pay her 1000 just to walk like 40 steps to help me drop it in the dumpster outside. Anyway so the trash has been on the side of my house the past one week and the woman has come twice and she has seen the trash but just ignored it. At the end of the day I would go look and the trash is still there. Is it wrong to expect her to try to help me after all the help I have given her ? I give her food too apart from the money. Is it wrong to expect her to help me without asking ? Because if someone is always generous to me and I know they have paid me twice to help them move the trash outside, I would move it even if they have not asked me . Basically it seems she no send me, she is only interested in money. What do you think ? I dey look her side eyes now. Should I stop giving her or continue ?
I'm trying hard to understand your post. Did you at anytime ask her to take the trash out and she refused? If you didn't ask her, why expect her to dispose of your trash when you could just ask and save yourself this mental torture? There is a boy that comes to take out my trash, and I tip him for taking out the trash and also hand him small cash at other times.

Most times, he will come and tell me that he wants to take the trash out. There was a time I told him I didn't have any small cash with me and that he should wait. He waited until I gave him the go ahead. Did I expect him to just do me that favor of trashing my dirt just because I have been generous to him? Perharps, yes, but I didn't make a big deal out of it because people are different and some don't like doing eye service.

-Someone suggested shoes, but a clean foot would also suffice. she could wash the foot before and after the cleaning.

someone criticized mop?
but it was a new one, whose thickness and handling efficiency would suffice.

might be unhygienic but it's the best hygiene they could muster at that point.

What better hygienic suggestion to clean a massive pot that size do you suggest?
Get a carpenter to construct a long strong stick, like the type some people use for turning swallow. Wrap a thick sponge around it and use it to wash the inside. Rinse and get some strong men to dispose of the water. Afterwards, wrap some thick hand towel around the stick.and use it to clean the inside.

Like I said, entering inside that pot was a no..no.. and that mopstick whether new or imported from heaven, wasn't supposed to be used for cleaning the inside of a cooking pot. Even if she had to enter inside the pot, what stopped her from wearing a custom made socks? Like using the materials people use in making hand towel to sew some thick socks for herself. She doesn't come off as someone that takes hygiene seriously, and it's a pity that very few people are bothered about it.

Linkedin is the new Twitter where people make up stories just to trend. If there was any regulatory constraints regarding his nationality, how the hell did he end up getting the job in the first instance? Either the hiring manager goofed big time or the story was made up. It is also possible that the firm got a more qualified candidate and decided to come up with that silly excuse. Either way, that is a good way to tell the world that you are job hunting. Employers will start sending him job invites.

She is not wise! Though I don't go to church regularly, I wouldn't discourage others from doing so. A church is a gathering of people with lots of networking going on there. There are employers, CEO's, Managers...etc among the congregation and if you know your onions or get lucky, you might be lucky to land a job through one of the congregants.

Only an irresponsible man gets a girl pregnant and abandons her. If you don't like the girl, what about the kid, do you hate your blood too? As for girls, stop using pregnancy to trap men because not every man will be responsible enough to accept your child. That being said, a girl who doesn't want to get pregnant will never get pregnant. Women make themselves single moms and not men.

RomanceRe: Drama As Lady Rejects Plumber Boyfriend’s Proposal On Sign-out Day After Sponsor by We4all: 9:12am On Sep 11, 2025
People should learn to stick to their type in order to avoid embarassment. I would raise an eyebrow if a female graduate decides to marry an illiterate plumber, or a male graduate settles for an illiterate sales girl. It's rare for such a marriage to survive because both of you are from two different worlds with different ideologies.

Now, to the issue at hand, was there any form of marriage discussion between the two people? If no, then the girl is not obligated to say yes to his proposal, but she should be ready to deal with whatever comes her way because she obviously knew what the guy wanted and led him on. As for the guy, I hope he has learnt his lessons.

DrAda:
Funny you should say this. Ok then, let's talk statistics.

What is the probability that this index case is a long term progressor? And while you are it, what is the probability that this family fits into the politician cadre?

I am all for generating answers for the unfamiliar. It's fun spotting outliers. However this is not an academic exercise where one is compelled to discuss the findings of a research paper that is in contradistinction to global reports.

This is a case report and after all said and done, the likelihood of just one of your theories applying here is less than 0.05 . Now calculate the likelihood of all your theories applying at the same time in this index case scenario, and tell me if one individual can be so lucky in Nigeria as you put it.

I won't resort to insults to prove my point but I want to encourage you to sharpen your clinical intuition particularly in our environment bereft of basic infrastructure and man power.
Now, you are trying to twist things to suit your narrative. Firstly, you said her story was impossible and never stated that were exceptional cases where an HIV carrier could be a long term non-progressor and live without taking antiretroviral drugs. Then, I pointed it out that one could actually live without the drugs if you are a long term non-progressor. I followed up with a question: "Can you rule out the possibility that she isn't a long term non-progressor"? The main debate here isn't about whether she is a long term non-progressor or not, but about your claim that once you are diagnosed with HIV, and you don't take the antiretroviral drugs for years, you will die.

Secondly, you said it was impossible for patients to get their drugs by proxy and I asked you a question: "Do you think politicians and the likes get these drugs by themselves"? Aside politicians, there are people who go to pick up antiretroviral drugs for their bosses and loved ones. At least I can mention at least three people that do that occasionally, and heavens did not fall!

Lastly, do you expect minors to be going to clinics to get antiretroviral drugs by themselves? Definitely, someone has to help with that or accompany her, and in this case, her grand ma was helping her with that or chaperoning her. I don't know whether your last statement is supposed to make me feel bad, but we are talking facts here, and I have laid down my facts for you to process. I might not be clinically intuitive, but I am a terrific researcher who is keen on facts and not theories.
HealthRe: Abandoned At 2 Months, They Called Me A Burden. by We4all: 12:03pm On Sep 10, 2025
DrAda:
Sad story but there are holes in it. I find it hard to believe that she was born with HIV, only to be discovered at 8 years of age. That is practically impossible as the disease would have advanced so much so that i don't expect her to be alive without anti-retroviral drugs.

Which begs the next question, if she was infected much later, how did she get it? Was she sexually abused by the dad who is also HIV positive or transfused at some point with his blood? Did they share sharps?

The story about the grandmother just handing her drugs is also unbelievable. Where was she getting the drugs from? I know for certain that she didn't buy it because they are expensive so she must have gotten them for free from a hospital.

Which begs the next question, who on earth in an hospital environment will give HIV drugs to a healthy person for a sick person? Or did the grandmother take some of the dad's meds to give the child. If so, how did the dad convince the health care providers the reason his medications were finishing so quickly. I would have suspected that he was selling the drugs and flagged him from getting any further drugs.

And then finally, when she went to the hospital to collect her drugs as a teenager (several years later), she learnt the truth about her status. That makes no sense. What about her latest CD4 count, periodic checks on other investigations to ascertain if there are side effects to the drugs etc. How did she manage to remain stable up until this point without ever been in a clinic and being monitored by a doctor?

Like I said, there are holes in this story but it makes for an interesting read and most importantly draws attention to HIV in children and its attendant negative social effects. So well done.
It is AIDS, and not HIV that kills. There are people who have lived with HIV for years because they are what we called : "Long term non-progressors". I know one or two persons who lived with the virus for years without taking the antiretroviral drugs, and I am surprised that someone is still ignorant about this basic fact. Can you rule out the possibility that she doesn't fall into the category of a long term non-progressor?

Additionally, I know people who used to go for their antiretroviral drugs by proxy. You are so sure that can never happen, forgetting that you are in Nigeria where anything goes. Those politicians and wealthy mean who are HIV positive, do you think they go to hospitals to get the drugs themselves? Her story sounds plausible, and you are the ignorant one here because it's obvious who know little about HIV and AIDS.

If you tell all these kids to calm down, they will never listen to you. The people condeming this callous act could even be one of the killers, and now everyone is pretending to be a saint. Sometimes I wonder the homes these boys come from, and question their mental wellness. The truth is, these crimes will continue to happen because the families of the criminals are covering up for them.

Imagine having a son as a cultist/murderer, and you will still think to protect and cover up for him when he commits a crime. Isn't that absurd? As it is, having a male child should be declared the 1st dangerous thing in the world, because they are threatening the existence of mankind and making earth unihabitable for people.

budaatum:
I'll tell you what's amazing.

In the very recent ancient days of the Orolu Kingdom of Ifon Osun, men owned farmland, and married lots of women so they can produce the labour to farm it. Selling the produce was however the women's job.

The men will come home from the farm and go drink palmwine, while their wives who often went to farm with them returned home to process the farm produce - turn palm kennels to oil, take the kolanut and cocoa out of the pod, turn the cassava into more profitable garri and fufu, and so on, and sell it. The money, they of course had to give to their husband, but being so industrious, they always had ways of earning more, which most invested in educating their children. Those children they educated, often against the wish of their father's who needed them to labour on their farms, are the ones today taking care of those now old fathers, and building houses in the town.

If it were not for those wonderful mothers, the fathers would be long dead and forgotten.
Well said!
