Family › Re: Are You Having A Better Marriage Than Your Parents? by We4all: 7:48am On Jan 07, 2025 |
Nnamdipapa: I am just curious and wanted to ask this question to guage reactions. Compared to your parents, would you say your marriage is better or worse and, what ever your answer is, do you care to share the reason behind your conclusion?
I will say my parents had a better marriage .
First, their marriage was an arranged one and no prior relationship before the marriage so there was nothing like love from the get go.
My dad's relatives decided to look for a wife for him and someone recommended my mom. Even dad was not around during his own wedding.
At the onset, there were lots if glitches and quarrels mainly because of my paternal grandmother controlling influence on my dad and, we were very small then so, it was stories that were told to me as as I never witnessed them quarrel before.
My mom loved and adored my dad and, at some point, they seemed like bro and sis.
Mom ran the home, made sure everyone was well fed thrice daily, still kept her restaurant business where we always went to eat.
Dad was always away at work and month end, he would take his gas money and some change, would give the rest to my mom to plan and run the home.
There were each other's best friend that mom could not live after my dad passed. Always sitting and chatting together, giving maximum attention to each other.
I would say we grew up in a home where my parents agree on everything and never quarrel. Even though they were not rich and educated. My dad once lost his job and mom was there with him through it all.
Now, compared to mine, I feel people get into marriages for ulterior motives especially the ladies. They want to use marriage as a financial retirement plan.
I cannot say I have all what my parents had in their relationship even though mine was not an arranged marriage.
I conclude that my parents have a better marriage than I currently have.
Shall we say arranged marriages are way better than love marriages?
Is your marriage better than your parents. You marry ni? Impossicant! |
Family › Re: Are You Having A Better Marriage Than Your Parents? by We4all: 7:42am On Jan 07, 2025 |
The description of a 'good marriage' in the Nigerian context is when the home is peaceful. But the home can only be peaceful if the woman decides to play a fool by turning a blind eye to her husband's excesses.
Most Nigerian men are despicable, but still want their wives to tolerate them because they are simply just men!
A very close relative was caught having an affair with his two daughters (don'mind my choice of words because the children were enjoying the gifts he was showering on them) and when the bubble bursted, he beat the living daylights out of his wife.
If she choose to remain quiet, people will assume she has a good marriage. The real question should be: "What is the definition of a good marriage"?. |

JobAndVacancies: 2024 was a year of loss to many. I staked my full Salary on Real Madrid to either win or draw Milan but they lost 1-3, I nearly committed suicide that month cos it wasn't easy. People also borrowed money from me and I touched my savings and emergency and lent 30k, 20k and other amounts of money but till date they all refused to refund or pay back. This year I have promised to be very hard on myself. The emilokan drug baron's administration isn't helping matters either, money doesn't have value anymore due to the cost of living.. The only achievement I made last year was just feeding myself, nothing tangible or meaningful achievement last year despite all the hustles. Recently , I went to the market with 50k to purchase some cheap clothes but the money could only acquire a palms, sandals, belt, two boxers and one trousers. If you're supporting this administration it will never be well with you and your generations. Broke, and still had the audacity to troll rich people. Receive sense in Jesus name. |

If you have 13 pieces, you probably added the head to it. Dey play. Some people can get up to 30 pieces from a chicken. |

APOPTOSIS: My issue lies with the mom raising that boy alone. BOYs raised by single moms end up very dangerous and deadly. Most are stalkers in the United States. They rarely appreciate healthy competition. They become territorialiastic like their mom. They hardly accept a "NO". They nag a lot and rarely move on. They share their wife's secrets with their mom with no single limitation. They are poor at managing crisis. Most are raised to be Lazy & redundant. Such Boys become effeminate and end up making bad fathers in future. At the slightest onset of any issue, they mismanage it and blow such out of proportion. These are well known fact. Imagine someone like TonTo Dike raising her son all by herself. That's destruction. These are my greatest fears. When a man that is supposed to raise his son is a dead beat, who else should raise him if not the mom? |

Ha..ha..ha..the story sounds familiar. Firstly, that dude is suffering from a severe case of low self esteem and is hiding under the cover of being generous.
Secondly, he is the only one who knows what he is getting from your cousin. One thing I know for sure is that, nothing is free.
Thirdly,a lady I know had similar experience. The guy would spend thousands on her and she thought he was generous. Eventually, he had a court marriage with her without a witness from her family.
After living together for a couple of months, he ran away claiming he was tired of the marriage. Obviously, he was after something and has gotten it.
That dude is after something and will dump your cousin when he is satisfied. |
