Local Govt will always look for bills †☺ charge Ūя̲̅ organization: TV License, Radio license, permits etc

Thanks for your response. Would they charge me for TV or sign board license even when I don't have one?

Dollarchap: I advise that you get a tax consultant before you complicate matters for yourself. Meanwhile, following the Facebook page below may help as it seems to handle tax matters.

Thanks for the link, I will check it out. I don't think I can afford the services of a tax consultant right now. The first person (accountant) I consulted to help me proposed I pay him a whooping N300,000. He did not even ask me if I make that much shocked. I dont even want to go there again, that's why I have come here to ask question based on the little information I gathered after my visit to FIRS.

I would appreciate more inputs on this, thanks.

Business / Paying Your Taxes As An Enterprenuer In Nigeria (lagos) by weaseloo: 1:28pm On Sep 13, 2012
Hello Nairalanders,

I need your wise advice and input on this issue.
I opened a "business name" and will like to carry out everything by the book wrt pay my taxes.
I need to understand this tax thing because I am really confused. So far I have only done the VAT registration at the FIRS.

My questions are:
(1.) How many tax bodies do I pay tax to? FIRS and LIRS?
(2.) I understand I have to pay VAT to FIRS, how often should this be?
(3.) What happens if I did not get paid/did not provide any services?
(4.) Am I supposed to be paying Personal Income Tax in addition to the VAT? If, yes, how often?

I know there are topics here that talk about tax but I just need direct answers to these question to settle my confusion.
Any additional helpful information and guidance will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Family / Re: My Marriage Is Dying Before My Eyes: Help by weaseloo: 1:50pm On Dec 11, 2011
@shapey 3 almost 4 years I was really touched by your experience. I am glad that you are back with your husband. It was a test on your marriage and you both conquered! Love and forgiveness are the main elements that would keep a marriage going, don't forget that. You are also very lucky to have the support of your mum, cousin, sister - family through the situation. It could have been very ugly without them. To crown it all, you are a good person too.

I sure did learn a lot from your experience. I now appreciate even more what I have.

I would like to know what's going on. Is your relationship with your husband stronger? Any baby or babies
And your in-laws, has there been any change in your relationship with them?

The truth is that most women do it. And it is totally wrong.
That is how we pass this miserable act to our children and the cycle continues. . .

Your friend should work with his wife down to the detail with this and tell her it is wrong for her to do such since they are both in the marriage as 1.
He should not take it as one big thing abeg. Ask other married women, they do it but wont admit it. Just like you when you were growing up and you had to ask your parents for pocket money. You would want to add your own extras so you can get spare money for other stuff you might need but not want to tell them. Na so.

Leopantro:

Get a laptop with linux or boot a linux lived and try and open it from there. Have recovered files from crashed hard drives with this method. It only works with drives that windows recognize that are plugged in but don't show on my computer.

@OP
If the live CD thing does not work there may be another way to do it. It is a computer forensic method for recovering files. Just contact me: weaseloo@rocketmail.com.
Fashion / Re: Girls: Do You Really Need Makeup? by weaseloo: 10:58pm On Oct 31, 2011
I am honestly surprised at the number of women that do not like or use makeup.

Anyway, for me, even though I am not a makeup freak, I know that I need it. I use eyeliner, lip liner, lipstick(very light) with lip gloss, brown powder and occasionally foundation. All in moderation. Though I don't usually have time to apply all these everyday. I always get reminded that I am not wearing make up when I see other ladies that are wearing make up.
Fashion / Re: Pain In The Name Of Beauty by weaseloo: 8:42pm On Oct 22, 2011
I am not a weave on person at all. My last fixing was hell, could not stand it. I felt pain in the spots where the thread held the weave unto my hair. I also hate it when I can see parts of my hair sticking out where they should be hidden. I find it really untidy.

I do braid like 5-6 times a year. I prefer my natural hair any time any day. I cannot stand being under the drier as well, blow drying all the way. Thank God for wigs!

Even the 6-inches heels, not for me, comfort is key!
Family / Re: My Parents Are Always Quarelling And Fighting What Do I Do? by weaseloo: 2:00pm On Oct 08, 2011
@ lullabi

I agree with some of the posters. Let your mum (or dad) visit her children's houses one after the other.
I know a family friend that does that. Once the husband talks, she is out to visit her daughters. She is either in Lagos, Abuja and even London. It will help to cool the steam between your parents.

Like the other poster, I am also afraid for you and your siblings that this behaviour could affect you all. You need to look at it and at other situations more positively. And learn to leave most situations beyond your control to God to solve them. You have to fight it in the spirit, after all it is not by might.

I will advise from now on to preach forgiveness and love to your parents. Do not take sides. What ever they say, tell them to forgive each other, no matter what it is or who was unfair. When they see where you stand, they will hardly bother you because they already know where you stand.

It maybe easier said than done, but you may certainly have to forgive them first.

Cheers!!!

Health / Re: Pregnancy: I Don't Want To Have Stretch Marks. Help! by weaseloo: 6:49pm On Oct 05, 2011
I used Palmers stretch mark cream, and another palmer's oil based cream (cant remember the exact name), and then olive oil.
The itching was just unbearable. You need to experience it to know that sometimes you cant help it. Guess what, I still have nasty stretch marks on my belly, I still have not gotten over them after 2 years.

I think it is just genetic. My cousin that has 2 children does not have a single stretch mark on her.

Just keep an open mind about it. When the time comes do your best to prevent it, but if it does not work, dont kill yourself over it (like me).

Family / Re: How Can I Get My Uk Natralization Certificate From My Mum? by weaseloo: 9:34pm On Sep 23, 2011
Hello,

Sorry to hear about your mum's illness and your dad's demise.
I was wondering if you have been able to sort out this thing with your passport.

If you are still preggos, you can have your baby in the UK while you try to sort out your naturalisation stuff. After that, your baby will get the citizenship from you. But if you have your baby in Nigeria, the child does not become a citizen.

It might also be easier for you to get your naturalization from the UK. Once they have the proof -your birth certificate, your mother's details and a letter from her, it should be straight forward. But you might have to take the naturalization exam and all before you can apply for a passport.
You mighty know all this already.
I will like to know how you sorted it out.

My fellow women,
I am new to this thread and have been deeply touched by your different experiences.

I wish to share mine so that others can learn too.

I was TTC for 3 yrs after marriage. I and my husband decided to go for a total checkup. I was diagnosed with PCOS. (I was shocked because I never heard about it before, to make it worse the doctor said my male hormones - androgen was greater than normal). Long story short, I was placed on metformin for 2 months - something about getting the blood sugar down. And then afterwards, the gynae gave me a 3- combo drug to enable me conceive. Clomid, Estradiol, and Progesterone Gel. This worked like magic!!!! I took in. I know God was behind it all! He blessed us with a lovely baby boy!

I am concerned about ladies that take only the clomid. From my research, yes, it thins the walls of the uterus, I also understand that Estradiol thickens the walls back to prepared the womb for implantation. So i guess it is important to take the Estradiol with the Clomid, pls ladies, check with your gynaes. The Progestrone gel is supposed to help with implantation for people that have implantation issues or low progesterone.

My heart goes out to all of you who miscarried. You know what, there is nothing impossible with God. He is the architect of this universe. He can make it happen again and stay. Never, never give hope, He needs you to promise that you would put all your hope in Him. He will not fail.

Hey guys, I am new to this post. Nice work.
I am about to finish my OCP training and would like some advice from the experienced DBAs.
I am surprised to read here that you have to know programming as well to employment worthy.
Is that the only way? I am not thinking programming right now but I am interested in delving into Oracle Security, is there demand for Oracle Security?
If not, what about Data Warehousing or Data Mining?
Your responses and advice will be appreciated!
