Who in Houston needs a baby girl bassinet? I am giving it away. I have just today to bring it to you o. PM me if interested. Very good condition. Baby barely slept in it once

How do these agents do it? Mine got the Nigerian visa in 1 day! Fantastic I must say.

I also came here to ask for a car rental service. Again, I ended up not renting a car. Someone was recommended to me. He basically drove me around to where ever I needed to go at an agreed cost which was cheaper than Uber and of course the Yellow Cab. I would use him if I have to go somewhere far and then use Uber for nearer journeys.

Hi dear....could u pls give me the driver's contact and price range? Sent u a pm. Its urgent pls.

I did not get your pm. Send it again.

Hello.

I checked Google n got the following info

This certificate is issued to Nigerians who lose their passport while abroad. This certificate helps them to return to Nigeria. An Emergency Travel Certificate is usually valid for one journey to Nigeria only and must be surrendered to immigration authorities at the port of entry.

REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING EMERGENCY TRAVEL CERTIFICATE

1. Formal request letter for the Emergency Travel Certificate by the applicant.  Include your current address and telephone number, please.

2. Police report or a copy of Applicant's bio-data page of Nigerian Passport.

3. 2 passport-size photographs.

4. Copy of itinerary or airline ticket.

5. $170.00 in money order payable to the Embassy of Nigeria, Washington, DC.

NOTE: The Travel Document is valid for 7 days only and cannot be used to return to the United States (one way journey).

I don't think it applies to Newborns cos u need copy of a Nigeria passport

I really don't understand why they don't allow NBs into d country with their parents Naija Passport. Like will they send them back without passport or what's d worst that will happen.

Infact I need to ask someone in immigration

Thank you for the research Airfure and for the info. Please let us know the result of your enquiry.

There's actually visa on arrival for non Nigerian passport holders. I recall that on arrival, I was asked if I have a visa for my baby that if I wanted to get it I should go to a section in the airport. Typically, US citizens can get on a plane almost anywhere without a visa, just passport while immigration issues or visas are sorted at entry. This applies to newborns also

Really did not know this was an option. Do you have any idea how much this costs?

*Update*
Just read Amother4life's post. Should we not be looking at Visa requirements for US citizens and if they can enter Nigeria and obtain visa at the Nigerian airport? Justwise, do you have any info on this? You know you are the travel guru.

I returned with Airfrance, just a tip off your question but might be useful, when we called to add my daughter to the reservation, the bill came to about 380 dollars and we where asked to pay at the airport on the travel date. now the 380 was for only return to Nigeria, upon getting to the airport, the lady at the counter after checking the reservation told us our bill was about 160 dollars, I told her that was not the initial amount we got, she then explained to us that it was cheaper to make it a round trip than just return. so we got a to and fro ticket in as much as the return was basically wasted as we just picked a date in order to get the ticket at a cheaper rate, but it saved me loads of cash. so you can ask about the option of a round trip as against a return ticket.

Safe flight and do not forget to request for a bassinet so you do not have to carry baby all through the trip. For Airfrance we made the reservation when we called to add her as they said its first come first serve for the bassinet. Don't know how it works for BA. My last trip on BA they did something really nice, they snapped babies on board and gave their parents a frame with the picture, kinda loved it.

Thank you. Will surely ask for a round trip.

Thanks a lot for the good wishes! Appreciate them!

To give more details about the accommodation I am leasing I understand har.com is the best place to check (though I used many others I found via google). However, I don't think you can easily rent because they usually request for proof of employment, credit card/rating etc which most Nigerians not living here do not have. I was lucky and after so much searching I decided to go back to where we used to live and luckily they had exactly what I wanted: a furnished one bedroom apartment. They were willing to let me lease bc of past relationship.
Hope this answers your questions.

Congratulations!

No, you won't have issues with return ticket on BA, I'm assuming you are referring to your newborn?

You have excellent reviews of WHMC and Dr La, how much did it cost in total and for which type of birth? Please include pead cost as well. Thank you very much

Yes for the newborn baby. Thanks.

I had a c-section.
Dr's Office: $3340 ($2500 doctor's charges, $445 labs, $145 initial visit, $250 ultrasound)
WHMC CS: $4000
Epidural: $1200

The Paediatrics fees are still all over the place now, yet to complie it. The Texas Paediatric have a sheet containing the discounted payments for self-pay patients. They made us see the doctor after a week of birth for fear of jaundice. Thankful she did not have it. Paid for a second visit + 14 day screening test fee. I think there is another visit when the baby is a month old. So far may have paid about $400.

Praise God with me my people. My daughter's delivery was very successful! Dr. La is a great doctor and the hospital staff were superb. It is a world of difference between the birth of my first at Park Plaza Hospital and this experience. When you walk into WHMC you would think it was a hotel, beautiful.

I dealt with two ladies on accommodation issue, though I ended up not using either because I am renting/leasing. But the two Soul Care and Pampered Care I would say are kind and very serious minded. The locations and setting they had did not work for me.

I met a few Nigerians using the Uber service, one of them prayed for me and baby. Really interesting. There was one Uber driver that carried me from walmart. The guy simply opened his truck and started the journey. He did not even bother to help me load my shopping into his truck. You will meet all sorts! The variety is what interests me. I also met one Mohammed from Afghanistan. If I tell you I was not scared, I will be joking. I simply kept my cool till I got to my destination & just thanked my God! Lol.

I got a few discounts. For the Pathology paid like: $70; Hearing Test: $163 (half price); Surgical Assistant: $200. Just ask for a discount, you never know, they may have concessions.

Now in the process of getting baby's papers together. I have a question though. I have just called BA to add my daughter to my booking. My question is that I hope I will not have any problems with immigration and whether or not I got a return ticket for her. Please any mum that has returned to Nija via BA, did you have such an experience or not?

Hmmmmm!!! It is only a child that will tell you to quit ur job and run to Canada to face uncertainties. The ensuing tension and depression may crack ur relationship if care isn't taken. Pls, pls, my advice;
1. Let him go over to Canada for further studies while u stay back and face ur job. I know you will miss him but stay put with ur pregnancy and ur job, it is all for a while.
2. Let him make plans for inviting you over during your maternity leave (if possible take ur leave early enough before u look too bloated) so that u can ve ur baby over there and gain citizenship.
3. Come back to Nigeria joor and nurse ur baby and go back to ur God given job.
4. while doing all these, you allow him time to find his feet, settle accommodation and other provisions before you join him kpatakpata!
It isn't easy at all abroad especially ab initio.
It would ve bn easier if there's no forthcoming baby. As it is now, going to Canada without enough money and good job waiting while losing ur naija job is tantamount to small suicide. Take calculated risks. There is no midas touch anywhere, it takes a while to permeate the system.

Havent read all comments but this is best.
If you were not expecting a child, it would be easier to pick up and migrate. But with a child in the picture, it will be tough.
Let him go before you. I think that's the wisest this to do if you must. Obodo oyibo ain't easy at all.

Based on experience. Very true. Though we yet to get there but I have witnessed quite a few of family members and friends. The last one went from 4 mins apart to 10 mins apart with epidural. True story. In fact it even got longer than 10mins after a while that mother was playing computer games. C-section ended the stpry after over 12hrs of labor

Like someone said before, we have different bodies, hormones, reactions etc so might not be so for everyone.

My dear I feel Ur pain. I actually did some reading on this induction thing ysday and I found out that some mothers are misled with it. A doctor should not perform induction on u except it is absolutely necessary for the well being of u and ur baby. Most times the reason they give is being that Ur baby is big and in most cases they are not even the size they say they are. Some just want to rush up the delivery process and not wait for the baby to arrive at its own time. If a doctor asks that they do induction, just make sure there are no other options. Being past due date is absolutely not a reason for induction. Even the size of the baby is in most cases miscalculated and then we end up accruing unnecessary costs. As if they themselves have as much money to pay for their bills if they did not have insurance. Let us just shine our eyes, and keep questioning them to be sure that any suggested procedure is necessary. After all we did not steal this money. We worked hard for it!.

I agree with you too. Most times the recommended induction is not necessary. I too was induced with my first, reason also that the baby was big. Labour stalled and I ended up with an UNPLANNED c-section. Baby was not even up to 4kg.

I am fairly new as a member on this thread but i have always been a guest reader. I think we should cut the newbies some slack on this issues of reading the thread from the beginning. As at today, the thread has 350 pages which is a lot to read from start to finish. I will suggest that if someone asks a question and you feel the answer has been given a while back and you do not feel like responding again, you can just ignore. I think its better that a zillion people telling newbies to go and read from the beginning.

Let's be a little nicer and accommodating...its not easy. grin

My opinion!

Nice. *laughs*
Hope you know that more than half of the contributors here are running on pregnancy hormones. Do not expect them to be "nice".

So after Lotalways' post about WHMC increasing their price, I called them first before getting there. The lady I spoke with was just repeating to me "the price has gone up" "it just went up". . . then I asked her what the new cost was, and she said 4200, which was not consistent with what Lotalways said (4500). I just thought ok, I might be lucky and persuade them to take the 4k from me since it seems the new price has not been decided yet. We got cut off and when I called the second time, I spoke with someone else who sent me an email of the bill and it was still 4000, (thank God!). I rushed there to make the payment before they change their mind.

So mummys if you are using them and in Houston, better go and register now. They would be increasing, how soon, I do not know.

Oh, another thing I noticed is that instead of the 4-day stay for C-Section deliveries, it is now 3 days. Seems the hospital has been making some other changes as well apart from the cost.

The affordable once increased their prices because their details were shared here and many people contacted them. If we stopped doing ad for them they will reduce their prices when people stopped going to them.

Use Google to search for hospital in US or read this thread for already shared info, you can email whoever you want to get more details.

Just wondering what has changed between the time we shared such information here and now.
Just wise, don't understand your rules sometimes. When someone tries to be cautious and asks you questions, you simply discourage.

Hi peeps,

Jux a quick one...for those using West Houston Medical Center, i jux left the registration center, was told prices will go up by next month.

For vaginal delivery- $3000 instead of $2500
C-section delivery -$4500 instead of $4000

Though the lady said they are yet to finalize on it.

For those that want to make payment this period, it advisable to make it as fast as u can to be on the safe side.

Thought to share.

What!!!? Thanks for this, going there tomorrow unfailingly.

There is a movie named the Craigslist killer about aman that was a serial killer.

Just be careful with craigslist. I have used it in the past (to buy some things cheaper than store prices) but after seeing that movie, men, I do not trust craigslist so much. If you must, just make sure you are meeting the person in a public place and that you are accompanied by someone. I will however advice that a pregnant woman should keep away from there. You are not 100% capable of defending yourself at this stage.
