A 43 year old Zimbabwean man has been arrested after he allegedly sped off after buying 1,000 litres of diesel without making payment.

According to reports, the man who has been identified as Chirunga used swift and fraudulent means to receive the gas and escaped making payment.

It was gathered that Chirunga was driving a Toyota Dyna truck with a fuel tank on its trailer and told the attendant, Siyakurima that he wanted to fill the tank with diesel and that payments would be done after they had a full price of the amount of diesel.

He then proceeded to answer a call pretending to talk to a person who was his supposed boss and said he (the boss) would cover the diesel cost.

The customer’s supposed boss then sent a fake confirmation of payment to Siyakurima who did not thoroughly check the authenticity of the proof of payment he had received and Chirunga immediately drove away from the scene, transferring the tank to another vehicle in a bid to conceal the offence.

The matter then came to light when Siyakurima’s boss was making daily reconciliations and discovered the negligence at duty which exposed that $1,317 could not be accounted for, which reflected that Chirunga did not pay for the fuel which prompted his immediate arrest

He has since been released on $100 bail and ordered to continue residing at his current address and not interfere with witnesses.

Chirunga will be back in court on August 7.

A malnourished baby and her 16-year-old mother had been rescued by one Dr. Edu, three years ago during a Maternal and Newborn Child Health Week at Ikot Ekpo Axis of Calabar.

The baby named Christiana eventually survived and is today celebrating her third birthday.

Taking to her official Facebook page today, Dr. Edu recalled how she initially mistook the child for a dead small dog.

I told the state nutrition officer who was with me on a community sweep seeking for malnourished children, that we will not go into that compound because I don’t want any rabies infected dog to bite me since one was dead already another could be by the side.

God had you in mind Christy it was your day for rescue! “My SNO said no madam, that is a dying child not a dead dog” we were 2 compounds away! The minute I heard dying child, my blood ran cold and I walked over to her. At first I wondered how a woman will let her child die in her very face, until I met the mother who was only a teeneger and was equally strugling to stay alive, I knew immediately that this was the real reason God brought me there, to save Christy and her teenage mother Esther – Dr Betta Edu

This is the story of A young girl, Christy who overpowered severe malnutrition courtesy of the divine intervention of Dr Betta Edu who God used in rescuing her 3 years back.

The girl with bones sticking out of her ribs generated sympathy around the State with a few persons notably Mr Richard Akinaka, volunteering to support care for their needs and education. The two have been through several hospital admissions in the build back process but we are happy for progress made so far.

Now, that girl is so beautiful, strong and healthy. The malnourished girl, who survived severe pains as a child, is gradually gaining her footing in society, She is now grown and has turned into a beautiful young child. But asides the beauty, she’s also got brains and very smart. She hardly smiles…May be life didn’t smile at her at birth.

Presently, she is in nursery school. According to the teenage mother who is also enrolled in a secondary school, she dreams of little Christy and her becoming a medical doctor so the can help other kids who are currently going through what she went through all those years.

A mother who is believed to have been smuggling drugs to fund plastic surgery has died from cocaine overdose after one of the capsules burst inside her.

According to UK Metro, moments before she died, Dayse Ricarte, 28, spoke in distress to a friend on camera. She is believed to have swallowed 71 grams of cocaine inside capsules and smuggled them from Brazil to Europe.

However, one of them is believed to have ruptured causing the overdose at Sao Pedro Hotel in Lisbon, Portugal.

She told her friend in the distressing video:

‘I think I’m going to die, my friend. Oh Lord, help me. My friend talk to my mum and tell her I love her and my dad. I’m not going to make it. God help me.’

Ricarte, a mother to an 11-year-old boy, sent a picture of the hotel’s business card so that she could get help but moments later she was found dead in the hotel room.


The friend who spoke to her revealed that she had also spoken to her boyfriend in Brazil. She said she ‘talked to Deyse for about two hours until she gave her last breath and fell back to the effect of cocaine overdose in her system.’

Hotel staff told Record TV that hotel security found her body after she failed to answer the phone in her room.

The family friend said Ricarte had a dream of getting plastic surgery and may have agreed to smuggle the drugs to Europe to fund her plans.

As confirmed by an Italian trade union, workers at Fiat company will go on strike in response to Cristiano Ronaldo moving on a €105 million (£93 million) deal from Real Madrid to Juventus.

Report has it that some of the transfer fee for the Portuguese star is set to be paid through the Bianconeri’s parent company Exor, which in turn owns Fiat.

The deal has prompted an angry reaction from the automobile manufacturers affiliated with Unione Sindacale di Base, and it confirmed workers will walk out of the Melfi plant for two days:

“It’s unacceptable that while FCA and CNHI workers continue to make huge economic sacrifices, the company then spends hundreds of millions of euros on the purchase of a player.

The Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS new boss in Lagos is none other than the gallant Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP Gana. He was recently appointed as the head of the unit.

The identity of the new leader of SARS in Lagos was revealed by the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 Command Dolapo Badmos on her Instagram account.

There are indications that two other accomplices took part in the killing of an ex Ondo deputy governor's daughter, Khadijat, for money ritual, Tribune reports

The main suspect, Adeyemi Alao, who made this confession during his parade by the Ondo State Police Command in Akure, the state capital, said the two other suspects took to their heels after killing the final year student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko.

Explaining how the young lady was murdered, Adeyemi said her girlfriend of eight years was killed by the other two suspects but he dug the grave inside his room where the girl was buried.

Giving the graphic details, Adeyemi said:

“Khadijat was my girlfriend since 2010 and she visited me to help her in writing her final project in school. She slept in my place on Thursday and left on Friday the following day.

“She sent a text message to me on Monday, 2nd July that I should send some money to her. But I was surprised to see her that same Monday when she came with two boys to my room.

“I left her in my room with the two boys but when they called me some 30 minutes later, one of the guys brought out a gun and ordered me to kneel down while one of them was making love to Khadijat who was naked on my bed”

Adeyemi said further, “Khadijat was begging them to leave and promising not to tell anyone about what happened but they strangulated her in the process and ordered me to go and bring digger and shovel.

“I thought they wanted to use that to escape from the scene of the incident but when I entered the room they were still there and ordered me to dig the grave where we buried her in my room and covered it with the rug. ”

Asked why he failed to alert his parents or tenants when he was ordered to look for the diggers, he said

“the tenants were busy watching World Cup match and the noise from the home theater in my room was too loud to make them know what was happening even when we were digging the grave in my room.

“The two boys left after burying her and I couldn’t sleep in my room that day and I had to sleep in my brother’s room because I wasn’t myself and I couldn’t tell anyone because no one will believe my story.

“I don’t know the two guys, though they have visited my place thrice with Khadijat I don’t know them or their names. I have been dating Khadijat since 2010, she was my girlfriend but I knew nothing about these guys, she invited them, I don’t know their names but I can recognise them.”

When queried the motive behind the killing, the suspect said:

“I did not kill Khadijat for money ritual, though I joined Yahoo business this year and never made any headway I don’t plan to do any ritual”.

But the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr Femi Joseph, described the suspect defence as infantile saying Adeyemi implicated some people while the command has been trying to get those people.

He said,

“his defence is very infantile and does not hold any water and I am very sure in the next few hours he should begin to talk”.

Speaking on the suspect arrest, Joseph said the command was alerted by an informant while the police from the state responded and arrested the suspect at his residence.

He said

“we met the suspect who happened to be the boyfriend to the late Khadijat, in his room trying to pack the remains in a sack and this is to tell you that he killed Khadijat.

“According to him, he mentioned some other suspects now at large but we found that he single-handedly looked for digger, shovel, dug a grave in his room and buried Khadijat

“The Police immediately swooped on him, and on close observation of his residence, it was discovered that the suspect had actually buried the missing girl for six days and was planning to exhume the remains and finally dispose of them.

“According to him, he was not comfortable with the stench coming from the decomposed body as it was not properly buried.

“The suspect will soon appear in court while the effort is on to arrest the alleged accomplices.

A 26-year-old lady who lost her father at a young age and had to live with her relatives, has cried out after her uncle allegedly brutalized her in Abuja.

The lady identified as Maimuna Muhammed revealed that her father's relatives took all they had after her father died and her mother was forced to move back to her family with her children.

She then decided to stand against the cruel act of her uncle and his family which led to him assaulting her and causing bodily injuries on her.

Former Presidential aide to the former President, Reno Omokri has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari for hailing the rescue of Thai boys trapped in a cave.

Reacting to the rescue yesterday, Buhari had commended the government of Thailand and international volunteers in the efforts to rescue the boys and their coach trapped in a cave for more than two weeks.

However, in a post on his Twitter handle, Omokri urged Buhari to replicate the efforts of the Thailand Government by ordering the military to defend Nigerians from herdsmen.

He wrote:

“President Buhari just released a statement hailing the rescue of 13 Thai youths from a cave.

“I hope he noted that the Thai government did not PRAY the boys out of the cave the way Buhari said there is nothing he can do about herdsmen but pray. It was ACTION that saved those boys.

“Instead of praising what the Thai government did by rescuing the youths trapped in a cave, Buhari should replicate it by ordering the military to defend Nigerians from herdsmen.

The leaders of Ethiopia and Eritrea have signed a declaration saying that the state of war between the two countries is over.

A peace deal ending the 1998-1999 border conflict has never been fully implemented and there has been tension between the neighbours ever since.

The countries have also agreed to re-establish trade and diplomatic ties.

The declaration came at a landmark meeting between the two countries' leaders in Eritrea's capital, Asmara.

The summit between Eritrea's President Isaias Afewerki and Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed marked the first time the neighbours' heads of state had met for nearly two decades.

"The Agreement, which specifies five pillars, was signed this morning at State House by President Isaias Afwerki and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed," Minister Yemane Gebremeskel wrote on Twitter on Monday alongside a photo of the two men seated at a table in front of their nations' flags.

The first of the five pillars stated that the war that existed between the two countries has ended.

Other pillars declared that a new era of peace and friendship has been ushered and that both countries will work to promote close cooperation in political, economic, social, cultural and security areas.

In addition, transport, trade and telecommunication ties will be resumed and diplomatic ties and activities renewed. Finally, previously made border decisions will be implemented and both countries will work together to guarantee regional peace, development and cooperation.

Does not change the fact that we were deceived into believing we are getting to the Semi Finals

A man identified as Ayoyemi Eweje, has been accused by his wife Motunrayo Eweje,of battering her over his missing N500.

Motunrayo said the incident occurred last Tuesday after Eweje couldn’t find the N500 note he kept in a carton on the refrigerator in their Baiyewu, Ikorodu residence.

She said she was making a customer’s hair on June 27, when Eweje, a generator repairer, accused her of taking the money.

He ordered her to go and look for it, so, she returned to her customer. When she finished, he refused to let her into the house.

Motunrayo told The Nation that the next day, Eweje ordered her to pack out of their home, following which she left with her two children, aged 11 and 5 years, to her friend, Mrs Blessing Jacob’s place.

According to her, last Tuesday (July 3), Eweje trailed her to Jacob’s place, beat her up and threatened to kill her and her friend.

Motunrayo said:

“My husband was looking for N500 that Wednesday. I was making someone’s hair outside the house when he told my children to call me. He asked for the money. I told him I didn’t know anything about it and I went back outside to continue making the hair. When I finished, I returned home but the door was locked. I had no choice than to go to Mrs Jacob’s place that night.

“The following day (Thursday), I went back home to take care of my children, and do some house chores but the door was locked. I went to where he was to get the key; he returned to the house, opened the door, sat down, crossed his legs and told me to pack my things. I did as he said because I was already tired of the marriage and I went back to my friend’s house with my children.

“Last Tuesday, he came to my friend’s house around midnight and knocked on the door. My friend and I thought he came to settle the quarrel but he entered the house and beat me seriously, leaving me injured.

“I am tired of this marriage and I want it to end. It has been full of quarrels, beatings and arguments. I am not in love again. My husband does not take care of me; he only pays the children’s school fess and house rent. I am the one that takes care of my children both in feeding and clothing. He does not give me money for food,” she said.

Mrs Jacob corroborated Motunrayo’s claims.

She told The Nation that Motunrayo was her close friend, saying she allowed her come to her house because her husband fought with her.

Jacob said:

“I quarrelled with her that she should go back to her husband (before the day he came to beat her) and make peace with him, but she said the man didn’t want to see her again, that her things had been thrown outside, that if she went home, he would kill her. That was why I accommodated her.

“I went to her husband to beg on her behalf and that he should accept her, but he refused.

“He came to my house that Tuesday around midnight. When he was knocking the door, I thought he came to make peace, and to take his children and wife. When he entered, he embarrassed me, saying I was the one discouraging his wife to be wayward. He said he wanted to take his children and suddenly, he started beating his wife.

“I told the woman to run out, but he said he was going to kill her, that no police could arrest him. He said I should call whoever I wanted to call. He said for accepting her in my house, he was going to kill her, and kill me as well.”

But Eweje, who admitted beating his wife, said that it was a mistake. Recalling the incident, he said she asked him for money for food but he told her he did not have.

Eweje said:

“I later remembered that I put N500 in a cartoon on my fridge in the house. I asked the children for it but they said they did not see it. I also asked her for it, she said she did not take it, I told her no one else could have taken the money and that she should go and look for it; but she turned her back on me and left the house and she never came back home till the next day. I wanted to give her that money for food.”

He denied asking her to pack out of the house.

Eweje said:

“When I was at a meeting she came to meet me to come and open the door for her. I opened the door and the next thing was that she carried her load out. I did not tell her to pack.

“I know that I made a mistake to have beaten her. I am crying now because I have beaten her and I am saying that this will not happen again. I want you to help me ask her if she still loves me or if there is no more love.”

“My wife was not like this before we moved to Ikorodu, and it is because she is now rolling with people that are bigger than her and they are not advising her to do the right thing; I know she has a man friend.

“My mother and her mother are now fighting because of this matter. My father has told me to come home, my wife and I are both form Ondo State.”

He, however, denied being cruel to his family in their over 11 years of marriage.

“My wife is lying that I have not been taking care of the family. Did you not see how big she is? And she says I am not feeding her. Which work is she doing that she is using to take care of the family? I have a shop where I repair generator and I also earn a salary. I still love my wife and I want my marriage back. I have beaten her before, but since last year I have not beaten her. I beat her that night because I went to her friend’s house to get my children back home, but she was dragging the children in my hand; that was why I beat her; I just gave her a blow and it touched her face.”

Eweje, who was arrested last Wednesday, told our reporter that he was released on Friday on bail after paying N30,000.

Police spokesperson, Chike Obi, a Superintendent of Police, said the matter was under investigation.

A family has cried out for help after their two kids were kidnapped from their primary school in Anambra and no one has information on their whereabouts at the moment.

The kids, Franklin Ezekwere, 4, and Maryann Ezekwere, 2, were said to have been abducted at the Igwedimma Nursery and Primary School located in the same compound with St Matthew’s Catholic Church, Amawbia in Awka South Local Government of Anambra State.

School management have been unable to explain what happened to the kids. It was gathered that their school bags were seen in their classes but the teachers were unable to say where they were. Since the incident happened on July 3, 2018, their whereabouts are still unknown.

According to the father of the victims, Mr. Nonso Ezekwere, the kids were taken to the school on the morning of that fateful day and at about 2pm their mother went to the school to pick them but they were not in their respective classes, though their bags were there. Mr Ezekwere added that when the mother asked for the missing children, the teachers and headmistress were unable to offer an explanation.

It's suspected that the kids might have been abducted and taken into captivity by suspected kidnappers. The matter has been reported to the police but efforts made so far have not yielded results as the victims were yet to be found.

The parents of the victims, from Ibughubu community, Umuchu town in Aguata Local Government area of the Anambra State, are appealing to the members of the public to report to the nearest police station if the victims were found anywhere or contact the family with the following phone numbers: O8036884905 or 08067729583.

A Federal High Court, sitting in Osogbo, Osun state capital has ordered the National Assembly to immediately begin the impeachment process against the President over the suit filed by some citizens to impeach Buhari, Vanguard reports

The judge gave the order on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 based on the suit filed by two Nigerians, Kanmi Ajibola, a lawyer and Sulaiman Adeniyi, a human right activist, urging the court to enforce the National Assembly to impeach President Buhari.

The duo had three months ago written to both the lower and the upper chambers of the National Assembly on the need to impeach President Buhari, citing alleged constitutional breaches by the president and threatened that they will approach the court if they failed to act accordingly.

But when the lawmakers refused, they headed for court and filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Osogbo asking for an order of mandamus to compel both the Senate and the House of Representatives to start the impeachment proceedings of President Buhari.

In the suit filed on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, they hinged their arguments on four grounds on why the National Assembly should impeach the Buhari.

In the motion ex-parte, the duo claimed that in flagrant violation of the 1999 constitution, President Buhari contested election, won and was sworn in as the president on the 29th day of May 2015 without possessing the basic constitutional requirement, which would have made him qualified for the contest of the election.

They further alleged that the 4th respondent, which is President Buhari in flagrant violation of section 137 (1) (j) of the 1999 constitution presented a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the purpose of the 2015 presidential election that brought him to the office of the president

“In the light of the 4th Respondent’s placement to continue in the office as the president, he has no certificate and basic requirement upon which this placement to continue in the office can be placed.”

Besides, they accused the president of treating the orders of the court with great disdain and abuses the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at will, particularly from the angle of the observance of the Federal character as contained in section 14 of the constitution.

“The 4th Respondent on the 29th day of May 2015, took an oath of office, among others, to the effect that, he would rule in accordance to and protect the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, particularly section 14 (2) (b) which stipulates that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.”

“In the contrary, the 4th Respondent has proved to be unable to guarantee the security of lives and properties of the citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in fulfilment of his oath of Office. The herdsmen killings of the innocent citizens under the 4th Respondent have been uncountable, unbearable and unprecedented overheating figures in the globe.

“The 4th Respondent in contravention of the due process and sections 80 and 81 of the 1999 constitution spent about $496 Million on the purchase of Tucano Jets without the approval of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as required by the law.

“The 4th Respondent ordered to be withdrawn, money from the public fund of the Federation without the approval of the National Assembly or the authorization of its act and same used for the purchase of Tucano Jets.

“The 4th Respondent has committed several impeachable offences, that is, gross misconduct.

“By the provision of section 143 of the 1999 constitution, the 1st to 3rd Respondents (The Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly) have the statutory duty to impeach the 4th Respondent as the president and Commander in – Chief of Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on gross misconduct.

“The 1st to 3rd Respondents have closed their eyes to the gross misconduct of the 4th Respondent.

They told the court that as applicants in the matter, they have the right and duty to compel the 1st and 3rd Respondents to perform their statutory duty of impeachment against the 4th Respondent, having bothered on the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Citing several constitutional authorities in the written address in support of the motion ex-parte and with 44-paragraph affidavits, the duo posed some questions by putting Nigeria side by side with some developed nations.

“Can the conduct of the 4th Respondent, particularly on the presentation of a forged certificate, be condone in America or Great Britain unchecked?

“Can the 4th Respondent continue to benefits from his act of forgery and infraction of constitution?

“Definitely, an American president cannot be genuinely accused of presentation of a forged certificate and still be allowed to continue as the president, likewise the prime minister of the Great Britain”, they noted.

Barrister Ajibola urged the court that with all array of documents before the court, he was of the view that the National Assembly must perform its constitutional duties without fear or favour.

Justice Onyetenu in her ruling granted the application and ordered “that the National Assembly being the 1st,2nd and 3rd respondents commence the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari”.

Further hearing on the matter has been fixed for October 30, 2018.

Tina Turner son, Craig Turner has died in an apparent suicide at the age of 59.

Craig Raymond Turner was found dead at his home in Studio City in California from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a Los Angeles coroner.

Authorities confirmed he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at 12.38pm local time.

Los Angeles County coroner's office assistant chief Ed Winter confirmed his death was reported as suicide.

Just hours earlier, Tina, 78, was seen attending the Giorgio Armani show at the Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris.

She was just 18 when she had Craig with Raymond Hill - who played the saxophone for the band Kings of Rhythm.

Hill was a saxophonist for Kings of Rhythm – a backing band for Ike Turner who became Tina’s husband after her relationship with Hill deteriorated.

Ike – whose band Tina joined - adopted Craig after they married in 1962.

Tina was subject to domestic violence which Craig was forced to witness as a young child.

“Ike’s children never reacted, but my oldest son, Craig, was a very emotional kid,” Tina told Oprah Winfrey in 2005.

Turner, who has been branded 'The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll', and has sold more than 200 million albums and singles, has yet to comment publicly on the death of her son.

Digital Sports Editor, Nathan Judah revealed on Twitter that the 32-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers' goalkeeper helped in opening a brand new Haematology & Oncology Day unit at Solihull Hospital on Tuesday.

Ikeme who was supposed to be Super Eagles number 1 at the Russia 2018 World Cup was diagnosed with acute leukemia during a blood test following his return to his club Wolverhampton Wanderers for pre-season training last summer.

A Nigerian lady who is resident in the United States of America has taken to twitter to narrate on how she was fired from her job over her refusal to greet a co-worker.

According to her, the co-worker approached her and asked why she never greets and being a Nigerian, she asked if she would die if she didn't get her greetings.

This statement didn't go well with the management at the firm and she was laid off her job on the excuse that she was trying to create a hostile work environment.

Nollywood actress, Yetunde Akilapa, has again been arrested for trying to gain unlawful access into a house in Magodo Shangisha, Lagos.

Reacll that the actress was busted three years ago when she tried to break into a beauty lounge where she worked with a master key.

As at that time in the year 2015, the actress had earlier been beaten to coma for a similar offence.

Akilipa was arrested this afternoon with a bunch of master keys, while trying them on the door of a house in Magodo, not knowing that one of the occupants was around. She has since been handed over to the police after being battered a bit.

According to one of her close associates who wrote about her in 2015, the actress is a serial thief who doesn't seem to be able to help herself off items that don't belong to her.

Stealing runs through her veins the way blood runs through yours!……This actress may not be a household name for you and i but she is slowly edging a name for herself as a thief…a thief who has keys that can open any door that you think you may have locked.

Yetunde is not a first time thief though,Her matter was in the news in February 2013, when it was reported that she was arrested for robbery by the police in Alade, in Somolu area of Lagos State. She was later taken to court by the police for prosecution, but she was discharged and acquitted after the court said her prosecutor didn’t present a proper case that could lead to her conviction. She has done it again.

On Sunday Morning of January 12,2014,there was a loud noise in Magodo phase 2,No 15 Ibitayo street to be precise and people were shouting ”thief thief”! and running after a lady in a black dress …the lady in the black dress was running like a horse without shoes,running inside a walled estate…unfortunately for her,before she could get to the gate,the security on duty mobilised and caught her.

The Nigerian Pastor however denied ever holding her against her will and it was just a lie concocted by the woman and her mother.

Police in Gauteng, South African police has rescued a young woman from home of ex-Nigerian goalkeeper- turned pastor Peterside Idah, after it was alleged by her mother that she was her in the pastor's house against her will.

Suzan Mabelane, has accused former Moroka Swallows goalkeeper, Peterside Idah of stealing her daughter and keeping her at his Kempton Park home.

Suzan Mabelane claims that her 21-year-old daughter Pabalelo, started acting strangely since joining Peterside's Christ Ambassador Church last December.

According to Mabelane, Peterside accused her and her mother of witchcraft, claiming they tried to introduce her daughter to witchcraft practices, an allegation which they both denied.

So intense was the battle between the two that it took police over five months to resolve the dispute between them, with both parties claiming her.

Peterside went as far as deposing an affidavit at the Kempton Park police station appointing himself as the girl's legal guardian, allegedly without the mother's consent.

In a copy of the affidavit, Peterside wrote that he was staying with Mabelane's daughter Pabalelo.

However, Mabelane alleged that the pastor had hypnotised her daughter and that she no longer wanted anything to do with her family.

The mother of three daughters said Pabalelo had disappeared in January without a word, only for her to discover that she had mysteriously moved into Peterside's house in her neighbourhood of Kempton Park, East Rand.

Mabelane said she had received odd calls from Pabalelo, who said she was placed at a house with five other young women but were not allowed to be in contact with their families.

"Imagine not knowing or seeing your daughter for five months and when. you find out where she is, a pastor tells you that she is no longer your child. The worst thing was when he called me a witch because I was asking him to give me my child back." said Mabelane.

Malebane said her nightmare began in December last year after her daughter joined Peterside's church started to demand that she wanted to be independent. Pabalelo started having private prayers in her room during which she would hear her daughter pray loudly in a male-like voice

"She asked me to give her R8 000 to pay a deposit for a flat but when I asked her how she was going to pay rent, she said God will provide. That's when I started to get worried," she said.

Mabelane, an IT specialist immediately decided to report him to the police.

The three female officers called Peterside to alert him of their presence and their intention to get Pabalelo from him but his phone was answered by his wife Emi, who told them that her husband was in Russia to watch the World Cup.

Police then decided to go and search for Pabalelo at the church. She was later found at the house but Peterside's wife said she could not release Pabalelo in Peterside's absence.

The police would have none of it and ordered Pabalelo to pack her bags.

Police spokesman Kay Makhubele confirmed that the provincial police commissioner had instructed police to intervene in the squabble between Peterside and Mabelane.

"The police successfully rescued a girl from a pastor's house in Kempton Park ..."

He said the police were now receiving conflicting stories, with the girl now claiming that she ran to the pastor's house after her mother and her granny tried to force her to undergo traditional training to become a sangoma.

In his response, Pastor Peter side said:

"I don't have to answer to you my friend [I am] a journalist, all I ask is do your job as a pro and do an investigation and make sure you come up with the truth 'cause you will meet me in court if you publish what is not the truth and I will keep our conversation as evidence.

If you are wise like I believe you are, call the police officer that came to my house and ask them what truth they found out, it will help you my friend. And pls, come to our church on Sunday and find out what kind of cult you think we are.

A Nigerian mum has come up with a plan to prevent her kids from getting addicted to video games and tablets this coming holiday and it sounds absolutely beautiful.

Samiah Oyekan-Ahmed wrote a binding document for her son to sign ahead of the holiday period. The document is a list of rules which regulate screen time, game time, and even the amount of snacks that can be eaten during this holiday.

Included in the document are conditions that have to be met before her kids can enjoy these holiday benefits.

She also listed consequences to be faced if the rules are flouted and also alternative ways her kids could engage themselves.

A lot of parents found the rules to be quite brilliant and say they plan to try it with their kids.

Former Governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, who was, in May, jailed for 14 years on corruption charges, has approached the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Gudu, Abuja, which handed down the guilty verdict, to release him on bail pending the determination of his appeal against his conviction.

Jolly Nyame said he needed the bail in order to have access to his traditional herbal medicine, which he said he used to treat hypertension and diabetes before his conviction on May 30, 2018, PunchNG reports.

His lawyer, Mr. Olalekan Ojo, while arguing the bail application before Justice Adebukola Banjoko who passed the guilty judgment against the ex-governor, said his client had been living with the health conditions for 10 years.

Ojo argued the application, which was opposed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission during the Wednesday’s proceedings attended by a handful of the convict’s supporters.

The convict himself was not produced by prison officials in court.

Ojo, in arguing the application, referred to a June 19, 2018 medical report issued by a Jalingo, Taraba State hospital, suggesting that the convict could die if not released from prison.

He said his client had sought permission from the prison authorities in Kuje, Abuja, to be allowed to be given herbal medicine, but the request was rebuffed.

He said:

“These exhibits are medical reports attached to the affidavit in support of the application and also the request, the letter, written to seek permission to be given traditional herbal preparation that can sustain him.

“The prison authorities did not allow his people to give him the herbal medicine.

“Whatever that must have been responsible for the prison authorities’ decision whether right or wrong, the point is that he has not been allowed.”

He told the trial judge that ill health and the need to access herbal medicine had been recognised as constituting “special and exceptional circumstances” that could warrant granting bail after conviction.

EFCC’s lawyer, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), has urged the court to dismiss the application.

Jacobs, who argued that the convict failed to support his request with any material, said, “mere medical allegation will not be sufficient to grant bail after conviction.”

He said Jolly Nyame, as a convict, had lost the right of medical facility of his choice but the one provided him by the prison.

He added:

“The health ground will be an exceptional circumstance if the prison authorities say they are unable to provide the medical need of the convict.

“The second issue is that there must be a medical report by a medical practitioner who specialises in the area of medicine that concerns the ailment of the convict.

“Has the medical report been provided? There is no such report by a medical practitioner that specialises in hypertension and diabetes.”

Justice Banjoko has receded to her chambers to prepare her ruling, which she is to deliver later on Wednesday (today).

Justice Banjoko had also jailed a former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye, for 14 years on corruption charges barely two weeks after handing down the guilty verdict to Nyame.

A Nigerian man identified as Kay Obum, who is a burn survivor, has given a narration on the ill experiences he had as a growing child after the fire incident that took his confidence away.

In his post, he gave a detailed explanation on how he was able to regain his confidence and become the man he is today.

I was a very handsome kid growing up with a lot of self confidence. You know; the dark and handsome, smart and brilliant kinda confidence. But at the age of 10, I experienced what changed my perception about life: I got burnt, an accident caused by a lantern at home. I was bed-ridden for a whole year and eventually got discharged of 3rd degree burns.

Everything that made sense to me changed, all I used to love made no sense anymore because I had no idea how to live in my new skin. It was a difficult period; kids saw me they’d run and cry, walking in the streets, people would stare and say sorry.

Do u know how many times I was denied taking a look at myself in the mirror? How many times I have been to surgery in different orthopedics, both in and out of the country? Couple of times I thought of committing suicide.

At a point, I tried opening accounts on several social sites looking for new friends who could understand me, only for me to realize I was trying to force friendships and all I was looking for were attention and pity when I should be self motivated.

My mom is the real MVP, she spent a lot of money buying drugs, fruits and other stuff to make sure my recovery process was smooth. Not to mention that the night I got burnt and she also got burnt in her hands and legs; she wasn’t going to watch her son get consumed in flames! She even went as far as taking loans from banks to make sure I’m alive. My love for her is incredible!

But now, I guess alot of things did change, I have a mind of my own, I am happy, respectful, taking one step at a time, I learnt how to cope with myself, accommodate people and also love myself. According to reports, two cult groups, Vikings and Axe, had the clash after a gang leader, simply identified as Agbani, was gruesomely murder at Ediba Qua, by Marian Market on Sunday. He was stabbed in the neck by the rival cult members.

Members of his cult group went after his killers in the early hours of yesterday June 4th and killed three members on Ekondo Street, Mayne Avenue and Wilkie street in Calabar South.

Two other suspected cultists were gunned down along Atekong drive and Marian in Calabar Municipal.

Residents around the area have decided to remain indoors for their own safety as gunshots and shouts were reportedly heard at different spots in the community

Confirming the attack, the state police command's spokesperson, ASP Irene Ugbo said the police has launched an investigation into the matter and the culprits will be brought to book soon.

She added that one person has been arrested in connection with the clash.

She however advised young people to desist from any act that will bring shame and pains upon their family.

Big Brother Naija reality TV show finalist Nina has called out Thenet for making her look dark in an interview she granted them recently.

This came after the media outfit wrote about her poor management team and how she was forced to shut them up during the said interview.

Here is an excerpt from Thenet’s report:

“The interview which was nearly marred by poor logistics (Nina didn’t have a car and had to be brought over in a Taxify ride we got for her) and ‘African time’, started on a rather ridiculous note when the Big Brother finalist declined to go on air because she was not pleased with her makeup. .

Her staunch refusal suggested to us that she was concerned about how people perceived her and as seen on the show, seemed unsure of herself. She was then taken to a name brand makeup studio by her handler.

They returned almost three hours later but more surprises lay in wait as the interview started.


Apparently in a bid to prevent gaffes and Instablog9ja type of WTF statements, her new ‘team’ comprising of an official manager and an ‘Auntie’ – attempted to screen the questions she would be asked.

Of course we declined. But no sooner than the interview started did they start shouting answers at her. Anytime she started to answer a question, they literally cut in to tell her what to say. We asked how she felt about Cee C. .

Her team called out from behind the camera ‘Just say unique. Unique!’ Matters came to a head when this writer asked her about the car on screen lover Miracle promised to buy her. .

Even Nina could no longer stand the duo’s constant intrusion and cried out in frustration, ‘You people are not letting me do this interview well, you people are distracting me.’”
