The Presidency, on Sunday, slammed critics of the report of the Mallam Nuhu Ribadu-led Petroleum Revenue Task Force, saying their ignorant carping and malicious tittle-tattling are a product of mischievous attempts to politicise the report and individualise a group work. A statement by the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr Reuben Abati, described the critics as merchants of conspiracy, blackmail, mischief and outright opportunists. The presidential aide said those who accused President Jonathan of “lack of political will” to fight corruption and who were now talking ignorantly about “political will” were beneficiaries of this administration’s commitment to the rule of law and fairplay. “It is so unfortunate that there has been so much ignorant carping and malicious tittle-tattling about the report of the Petroleum Revenue Task Force, chaired by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, both failings arising from a deliberate attempt to individualise what was actually a group work, a mischievous attempt to politicise one report out of three, and to smuggle into an emergent grand web of conspiracy, elements of blackmail, mischief and outright opportunism,” Abati said. According to Abati, it was absolutely uncharitable for anyone to say that the Ribadu Committee was “calculated to fail from the beginning.” He, however, pointed out that for the benefit of those playing politics and doing quick business with the matter, President Jonathan was already taking steps to address some of the issues raised in the various reports, namely the Ribadu Committee, the Idika Kalu Committee on Refineries and the Dotun Sulaiman Committee. Besides, Abati said “President Jonathan has no reason whatsoever, personal or political (since at least one character has said that the furore over the Ribadu report has something to do with 2015) to protect wrong doers in the land. “He took on this assignment to make Nigeria better and that is what he is doing everyday, working hard at the Nigerian project and taking every step to transform it for good.” He enjoined Nigerians to stand on what what he called the side of truth and reject what he described as the mischief of all hunters of fortune, whose interest was their own ambitions. He also said the president had no reason to embarrass anyone who served on any of the three committees. Abati further added that in the Ribadu Committee report matter, personal ambitions were beginning to becloud the facts, just as he reassured that President Jonathan would continue to provide leadership, with a call that “nobody should drag him into the cheap arena of opportunistic demagoguery.” http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/lead-stories/50726-ribadu-report-presidency-slams-critics |
It will be a miracle if this story ever appears on the front page or even remain without the MODS removing it. LOL |

Barywhyte: So what you are saying in essence is that part of the report is enough to throw the entire report into dustbin? Never to implement the recommendations of the report? And who told you the entire report has been thrown into the dustbin - show me where you got that from. |
Even Sahara Reporters has nothing specific to point to. Citing a proposed meeting with journalists as an effort tby Government to discredit the report is absolutely childish. Give us facts not one concoted story and big english that is as empty as the mind of the person conjuring the story. All these are just mumbo jumbo by some opposition stalwarts to keep the polity heated. Presidency intensifies efforts to discredit Ribadu report - how? Because Okupe wants to meet with journalists. How childish. |
And no single person has pointed out what the government has done to "discredit" the report. Just mumbo jumbo by a few opposition stalwarts. Itemise one by one what the government has done to make you say they have discredit the report. Tell us. |
From Ribadu himself on Page 2 of the report: The report on page two states that: “The data used in this report was presented by various stakeholders who made submission to the Task Force in the course of our assignment at various dates, which have been disclosed in relevant sections of the report. Due to time frame of the assignment, some of the data used could not be independently verified and the Task Force recommends that the Government should conduct such necessary verifications and reconciliations.” Is this not what government is taking about? Take it or leave it, why is Ribadu passing the job of the committee back to government? |
Wsdm: I hope Jonathan will be there again as he did to Oritsejafor, since attending birthdays is now part of his constitutional responsibilities. I wish the man of INTEGRITY ( pastor Tunde Bakere) happy birth day and many more prosperous years in life.So you want to begin to criticise him for attending a birthday. Na wa o. One day you will ask if it is his responsibility to sleep with his wife. |
Nonsense thread from a certified mugu. |
Saharareporters investigations show, however, that of the 40 oil traders engaged in oil sales, 25 of them are directly owned or controlled by President Jonathan and the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke. Name them or do like El Rufai said to Ngozi Iweala - Sharrappp. So many mumbo jumbo - characteristic Sahara Reporters. LOL I expect the abusers to descend. SR as usual cries foul with mumbo jumbo stories - looping Okupe with all strength to the oil report. |
Dede1: Human beings suddenly became deluded, injected academia into human nature and turned life on earth into a thing of vanity. Act of sex became a very locative business and people demanded equal amount of ecstasy.Thats how a monkey like you thinks. |
Dede1: @TopicGoat. stay there deceiving yourself. Where was it mentioned about African Ancestry? being black? Simple question, you begin to call someone names. Thats a typical monkey style thinking. |
Dude says he spends 400 box on transportation, so how do you expect him to survive? and I have mentioned that people who dont even have 1k at then end of the month still survive. Ask me how? I dont know - but they havent committed suicide yet, they are still living and surviving. |
cogitoErgo: but blacks themselves hate blacks! I think we were meant to be hated, by God!LOL. How can that be? meant to be hated by God? Thats hilarious. |
No tracker? |
Bros - the bible admonishes us, whatever your hand finds to do, do it well. Is there a man diligent in his work, he will seat amongst Kings. You still have 16k assured every month end, millions dont even have assurance of 1k at the end of any month. Bro - keep your dream, never let the ills of life at this time kill your dream. Keep up the faith - keep managing, dont live above your earnings and keep praying - see how things improve. Stay diligent, promotion comes neither from the east or from the west - but from God. He can lift you up bro. |
This is not a topic or thread for gaari bull cra.p, neither is it for I am the first to post nonsense or for people who does nothing but to abuse. Simply put - what is it in the black man that an average white man hates - what is the genesis of the hatred, why is it there - cant it ever be wiped out. This is not a topic for Nigerian Americans who will tell you white doesnt hate black. Why is this plague still spreading like fire everywhere? |
No tracker? |
acidtalk: From the four first letters of your name (W-E-R-E) it shows you belong to Yaba left. Who the heck is Okonjo Iwealla and what has she done. Nigeria is just a freaking sick nation that respects certificate and titles than performance. No doubt Okonjo is a good Economist but Nigeria has far better Economist both within Nigeria and in diaspora but politics and sentiments won't let them call them to serve.Yes I am in Yaba left where your Mum brings her smelly cu.nt to service the inmates daily so dey can get well. You think its only you who know how to abuse? Eediot. I guess you are the economist better than NOI. Goat. ee |
If Buhari or El rufai comes out tmrow to say his life is in danger - these same people here will begin to berate government and insinuating GEJ wants to kill him. Now a Minister's life is said to be in danger from threats from indicted oil mogul's and people in their right senses call it rubbish? Haba. When will someone make sense on NairaLand? We are still searching for that one person who has absolute sense. |
Dee60: Cost of doing business in Nigeria is too high, that's why. It isn't just the airfares, everything else is expensive. You will pay 500 dollars for a hotel room here and same size abroad is just about 90 dollars. Corruption worsens it all...Egunje spoils things.Example? |
vanstanzy: Dude, the FG has shown us over the years what they are capable of doing with tax-payers' money. So the criticism is justified.Thats true - even when it is meaningless criticism. of course it is justified, who says its not? |
Will someone just say something intelligent for once? |
4 Play: 99 percent of Nigerians can't afford air travel. What we need is investment in transport infrastructure which can be utilised by the average Nigerian - rail and road transport. This is another monumental waste of money.I just hope you or any person related to you dont have to fly in any of them whenever they put them in place. |
Joey82: FG and its misplaced priorities.and when America gave intervention funds to Auto industries to bail them out - what happened? What has government intervention got to do with privatisation. http://useconomy.about.com/od/criticalssues/a/auto_bailout.htm You people will criticise any move with half baked inputs, no contrary suggestion, nothing intelligent - just half baked comments that doesnt make meaning neither involves any thinking - example, "the government is confused" - what kind of contribution is this? Haba? Even if the government is confused, what other opinion can you share that makes you better than them or better than what they are offering? |
rusher14: And so I rest my case. Why? Keep it open, maybe someone will come up with indices. |
rusher14: My brother stop beating around the bush. Provide the indices: manufacturing comapnies are experiencing an increase in their production, x number of homes without pipe-borne water now have access. Things of the sort.I wish you luck in your search for indices as you allow me to beat around the bush. |
Lol. So u now speak for 160m Nigerians! You must be a a paid internet goon - paid by the so called opposition. Take it back to your paymasters that you are not intelligent enough to speak for 160m Nigerians. Let them talk by themselves - Nigeria is not one cheap forum where you abrogate the right of 160m people and use such words as we - us - as if they appointed you to speak for them. You cant in all honesty see what he has done or is doing, but when they attempt to point a few to you - you call it fallacy - how honest. |
chucky234: And who gives the fvcking gut to quote me,if you think you know anything that will prove Okupe otherwise then put here or forever remain silent, besotted chronic goon. You must be high on some cheap paraga - u spew this thrash to make someone think you are intelligent or to make them think you are otherwise? |
