If this is by the definition you wish to refute the term "religion", then every other "religion" out there, will do the same.

I have personal relationship with my bed, but you dont see me worshiping it.
Of course you do, but how deep is your relationship with your bed? What's the essence of it? In what way has your bed made u a better human? Can you count on your bed when all else has failed u? Can u not be assured of your next meal and yet glory and sing praise to your bed? Could you give up the single most valuable material thing you own to someone else cos your bed said to do so? How deep really is your relationship with your bed?
The point I was trying to make earlier was that Africans didn't pick up the White mans religion cos it sounded nice to us, we did so cos it illuminated our lives and gave us something we saw nowhere else, not in the traditions of our forefathers and certainly not in Ileke Idi's mattress.

Let me assume you're a rational human and post a comment.
Christianity isn't a "Religion"- that's what stands it out, Its the pulsating life of Christ in man. Most people that describe themselves as Christians have a personal revelation and relationship with Christ and aren't doing so as a result of some mere religious obligation, the others sadly are yet to discover the essence of Christs lordship over their lives and are trapped in that realm which you aptly described as "Religion". It is imperative you understand this when referring to "Christians", anything less would be a pathetic display of crass naivety.

Christianity Etc › TB Joshua - Pray Nigeria's Flag Doesn't Fly At Half-mast by wesley80(op): 11:21pm On Sep 23, 2012
Watched the evening service and one of the "wise men" delivered a message from Prophet TB Joshua towards the end of the service asking the congregation to pray for Nigeria, and pray against anything that would cause her flag to be flown half mast adding that if it was God's will, then let it be done. Not sure he mentioned when it might happen but it sounded imminent to me.

Of course we've been here before; The Prophet says what he's seen and a legion of atheists, ignoramuses, demons and unadulterated morons queue up to make disparaging comments about his person and regale us with empty and foolish comments about how "religious folks" are the problem with Africa and how their empty mundane lives is the panacea to the problems of the world - Save it! All he's asked for is prayer for the nation which BTW is a debt we owe our nation and her leaders - nothing more.
This country has been through a lot lately and we do not need another national calamity of whatever scale.

Gbawe: "Cry baby"? Joke of the year and as expected from a self-deluding clown. Most members know that I have reduced you, Beaf Wesley80 and other b.i.t.c.hes to tears to the extent you do nothing but follow Gbawe around , unrequited, and speak after he does like the real "sickly old fa.g".

You, Wesley80 and your master Beaf are the only ones showing you are obsessed with following other men around pathetically and acting like s.lags. Look at this thread even as an example!!!! Why, instead of continuing to mourn your loss, did your 'posse' mention Gbawe? You fools do this all the time and when I appear to deal with you all, the waterworks begin as was the case with your puzzy messiah Beaf.

Beaf, your hero and king, was the biggest "crybaby" of all. Courtesy of Gbawe. It is embarrassing the number of times I made a fool of him as a jumped-up/wannabe intellectual via exposing his scant knowledge.

The guy was a cretin who lied, was very dishonest, shamelessly divisive and extremely slimy. Nothing but a common, hateful thug like you and others. His biggest mistake was taking my civil approach to discussion , and life in general, for weakness. Today he has been sent packing but I assure you the jobless cretin is reading. He'll show up soon. He is always unable to stay away when I taunt him because he is a weakling and a puzzy. So, wipe your tears and stop crying. Ndo.
My friend shut up you disgusting good for nothing reptile. Of course we know your game is playing the victim to draw sympathy hoping you're left alone to continue poisoning peoples hearts like a slithering gecko - Newsflash: No way! You'll continue to be exposed and called out till everyone notices your scrotal sac shares a striking resemblance with that of the 'egufe'. So you can spare us your sermon of being followed about, if e dey vex u then go take a sheet in the lagoon and end up nestling at the bottom, i'm sure no one would even notice!

wesley80: I believe this is one of the numerous abberations in our democracy that our political class are yet to rise above and its by no means a flaw unique to the PDP, No? Lets take a trip;
Case 1: Tinubu. Who else to begin our study than Al capone himself, his impressive resume (depending on who you listen to) ranges from Gangsterism to Extortion to Fraud, impersonation ...
CURRENT STATUS: ACN Leader and the man with the entire SW in his pockets, when he sneezes, SW politicians catch cold, if he farts, say goodbye to your treasury!
Case 2: Femi Gbajabiamila The rogue lawyer and fugitive now ACN's poster boy at the House of Reps.
Case 3: Ikuforiji Lagos state assembly speaker and frontline ACN member standing trial for corruption and fraud charges. Only recently was Tinubus handbag in faraway US when the latter honoured pres Obama's 'invite'.
Move aside ACN lets patronize the CPC.
Case 1: Mallam El Rufai The raging bulldozer that was crushing with his feet, gorging with his mouth and sharing with his hands - to cronies of course. Now standing trial for corruption and finding succour in entertaining dimwits on twitter.
Case 2 Mohammed Abacha: The figurehead of Nigeria's most thieving family, CPC member and one time gubernatorial aspirant.
Case 3 General Buhari : Ok, i'm going to do an IBB here and spare the generals blushes.
So there you have it, and it seems the PDP isnt doing too bad esp when one considers how infested these regional parties are!
Oponu Gbawe, do you agree with me? Perhaps you'd rather i asked one of your Olori's? Ok over to Olori Dayokanu and Olori Demdem, your thoughts?
Food › Re: How To Make Unripe Plantain Porridge by wesley80(m): 5:49pm On Sep 13, 2012
I love this dish and along with beans are two meals i can beat my chest about. Not to take anything away from OP, but i dont think justice was done to the meal.
Firstly, those onions and the first batch of ingredients should come in as soon as the plantain softens a bit, starting the onions with the plantain limits the desirable taste of the onion to the soup and not the plantain itself. The crayfish comes in last just before the palm oil. Try n see the difference
Secondly, the water level doesnt have to be so full, just enough to cover the contents would be fine. Finally, the key to the porridge is stirring when its ready. Just grab a spatula and stir till the soup becomes a fine thick paste - this is why i'd rather have some good dry fish in it than a fresh one, those reddish dried shrimps also go beautifully. I'll also do without the vegetables, i just see them as getting in the way of my good meal of iron - but thats just me.

Please come back Beaf, this place without you is drab!
You can say that again! I guess the funnest part of it all is knowing the goons are walking in daily terror knowing Beaf is watching and praying he doesnt pounce on them at their weakest moment. You bet their morning prayer eachday is 'Oh 'Lord, Pls Keep him away another day'. Well, the dude sure knows how to make an entry so guys, pls stay watchful!

Well, I believe every Igbo voice should reinforce what's true regardless of what the general perception is. In any case, this discussion took place a couple of years ago during the height of the activities of the 'separatist group' and a lot has changed since then.

OP, the only person you should sue is OBJ. He promulgated the Land Use Act in 1976 under which technically, all lands belong to the govt and she has the authority to confiscate any land required. You cannot get very far with suing the federal government over land.

Health › Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by wesley80(m): 2:27pm On Aug 23, 2012
Hi Docs, pls I need some very urgent medical advice. My fiancees mum was diagnosed with stage 3 CA of the cervix early this year and was refered to UI teaching hospital from the states teaching hospital to undergo radiotherapy. Fortunately, my Fiancees dad is a Shell retiree so their health matters are managed by Hygeia HMO. On that ground She was taken to Lagoon Hospital were she was further referred to Eko Hospital at their own expense to undergo radiotherapy which lasted for over a month and She was subsequently discharged. She returned in 2wks and was handed a Chemotherapy regiment that She was supposed to undergo at Lagoon Hospital but was told to travel back to her state and give same to her original doctors at a "private hospital".
Now back, she sought treatment at the private hospital but her Doc said they didn't have the capacity for such treatment as it was supposed to be done back in Lagos, so I drove them down to the local Hygeia office where a doctor manning the office said he could "arrange" the treatment locally along with the proprietor of the private hospital. Apparently they r getting someone from outside town to oversee the process. The course of treatment expected to last abt 6wks begins in a few days but I'm not comfortable. The Dr. at the local Hygeia office gave the impression that chemotherapy sessions aren't a big deal when I queried the level of expertise available saying he was only trying to reduce the strain of travelling back to Lagos on the patient but I've been hearing otherwise.
My question is, are these guys just looking for some short cut in order to spend less or should I relax as there's really not much to worry? Should we accept a chemotherapy session to be conducted in a private hospital that failed to diagnose the ailment till it got to stage 3A(The diagnosis was done at the states teaching hospital on referral from the private hospital) or should we insist on treatment at the Lagoon hospital?
I'll consider your advice invaluable.

Phones › Nigeria Has The Fastest Internet Speed In Africa - Survey by wesley80(op): 6:51pm On Aug 22, 2012
Nigeria has overtaken South Africa in terms of Internet speed. This is coming less than eleven years after reforming its communications networks and market. The report revealed that Nigeria has an average connection speed of 322kbps with a peak rate of 5674kbps. South Africa on the other hand has a faster average speed of 496kbps, but the country’s peak speed is only half that of Nigeria, at 2172kbps. “All mobile providers had average peak connection speeds above 2 mbps, though last place South African provider, ZA-1 was just above the threshold, losing over 13 per cent from the prior quarter, at 2.2 mbps,” IT News Africa reported.
According to Leadership, “in 2011 South Africa was one of only two countries listed in the report with an average peak connection speed below 2 mbps. South Africa had average 442kbps over Nigeria’s 286kbps, however, Nigeria outperformed with peak 4871kbps and average 462mbps per month over South Africa’s 1654kbps and 197mbps.” The report also noted that speeds across the globe were improving, and that all 117 countries that qualified for inclusion measured an increase in average connection speeds.
Akamai Technologies is a leading cloud platform for helping enterprises provide secure, high- performing user experiences on any device. Based on data gathered, the report provides insight into key global statistics such as Internet penetration, mobile connection speeds, origins of attack traffic, and global and regional connection speeds. ***
Improved internet speed is an indication of improvement in Nigeria’s communication sector. With West African Cable System (WACS), Main One Cable and Glo-1 supporting SAT1 operated by Nigeria’s NITEL, it is expected that as telecom operators connect the hinterland, internet traffic would triple.
