PoliticsA Foreigners Perspective On National Dialogue/ Sovereign National Conference. by wetdspace(op): 9:07pm On Oct 10, 2013
By Tcp Whyte
Dis is my sincere opinion on d proposed NATIONAL DIALOGUE: Is it necessary? YES!
Is it going to yield desired result? I SINCERELY HOPE SO!
Is it time for d dialogue? ITS LONG
OVERDUE!
But, is d time right for it? NO! NO!
NO!
Its a pity dat we nigerians (esp d masses) play more politis than d politicians. when we interpret every opinion, however objetive, as "political" we are simply "playing politics".
Senator Bola Tinubu, National leader, APC, returned to d con3 over d weekend and condemned d call for national dialogue AT DIS
TIME, and since then, many ppl hav bn calling him names on several fora, simply bcoz he is of d opposition party. I am not a fan of tinubu nor APC. Neida I'm i a fan of GEJ. But of d two men, if anyone is playing politcs with dis SERIOUS ISSUE of national dialogue, its GEJ.

As a sitting president, and one seeking re-election in 2015, he has become d #1
politician in nig.
Again, 2013 is almost gone; and we all know wat 2014 posit for all political parties. d qst then is: WHEN WILL D OKURONMU LED COMMITEE CONCLUDE CONSULTATIONS (6 weeks will end in Nov).
What abt budget issues. dat means dis yr would hav ended before we hear anything from
dat committee.
Next yr, GEJ (weda he is contesting or not), PDP & all oda political
parties will be heated up for campaigns and politicking. What time will we hav for national
confab?

Again, remember dat d Okunromu led committee is only "advisory". its findings/advice will be subjected to weeks of scrutiny
and debate both by NASS & FG to take wat they can and drop wat will not be permissible.
I dont see dis happening in less than 6 months. by which time we are in d thick of politicking and campaign for 2015.
D national confab is a welcomed development but ill-timed and diversionary in its wake. it shld be d FIRST and not d LAST thin a sitting govt/administration shld be concerned about.

Thus, it shld be and agendum for AFTER 2015. not before it. Hence, in my opinion, GEJ is using
dis to gain cheap popularity (by giving Nigerians wat we are yearning for most). And its a pity, as always we are falling for it.

In other countries of d world where a referendum has bn held, der is no record of it taking place in a rush nor less than two yrs of
planning. if u hav not seen d reasons i hav reeled out, ITS A PITY! but atleast, u'll be sensible enuf to know dat it is d same ppl
who will be campaigning dat will be involved in planning and organizing d dialogue.

And how long would it take to get delegates from various regions? or do u expect d same politicians to rep d ppl in ds dialogue. unles u
dont know d magnitude of wat nig & nigerians are getting into, u are sounding a bit naive.

No! not so my bro Musa&Chinedu. not d confab. but its TIMING! now its just a political tool. we all
hrd GEJ say he was against it bfor. but now, at d twilight of his first tenure (if der's gonna be a sec) he has suddenly been struk by
lightening and now thinks its d only way forward. well, i may not be old but i think i'm old enuf to know nigerian politics and i've
followed it enuf to know a political program when i see one.

We all know d best way to campaign (esp in nig) is to giv d ppl wat they yearn for most. GEJ is playing politis now

Do i want confab? YES!
Does Nigerians want it? YES!
Will it solve our nemerous issues?
YES!
IN fact, d centinary celebration would hav been a perfect timing! buh GEJ, prefering politics to
solving real issues, didnt start early in planning for it.
PoliticsRe: Senators Call For Resignation Of Stella Oduah by wetdspace(m): 5:10pm On Oct 10, 2013
All these useless Yoruba/ APC bigots.

In all of Nigeria's history even when Ministers like Fani Kayode licensed planes for their girlfriends to fly airline businesses, when was an Aviation Minister ever asked to resign because of an aircrash? But because Madam Stella Oduah is Igbo, now she must resign, even when NCAA and not the minister is responsible for licensing planes.

If they are not doing their campaign of calumny against Dr. Okonjo Iweala,it will be against Diezani K. Alison-Madueke or Stella Otti.

Why not ask Omobola Johnson, Navy Capt. Caleb Olubolade, Mrs. Olajumoke Akinjide, Akinwumi Adeshina and Olusegun Aganga to resign for their lacklustre performance in government?

Anyhow, like Okonjo Iweala told them recently " I serve at the pleasure of the President who appointed me and who shall relieve me of the appointment when my performance falls below his expectation" Simply put, SORRY, I WILL NOT RESIGN FOR SHAMELESS TRIBALISTS AND BIGOTS!

tsleazy: "nairaland as a site should have been upgraded to international standards erasing his old cloths as of seven years" lol this one got me laughing hard
what i mean is with a good educational system, we should have the best odas programmers &servers that will work with the initiator to make it one of the best serving the world.
EducationASUU And The Silent Nigerians by wetdspace(op): 2:04am On Oct 09, 2013
Its just 100 days since the body of our tertiary institutions has went on strike, firstly to demand for the increase in their wages following the 1999 agreement and also because of the scheming corruption going on with our political institutions.

These two institutions had been like pepper and the tongue for decades and yet there's no fruitful solution on how to work with each other.

Parents talk about this strike when they listen to News and discuss it with colleagues when reading the News paper without a clear solution on how to end the strike.

Our education sector is one of the worst yet, we shout and cry of unemployment, when, a graduate of either polytechnic or university student can't speak good English or even come with a manageable idea.

Universities around the world makes the country a developed nation, and now ASUU has come out to drop their ego and raise the need for our education to be African standard so that the writer can make up his mind to go to school after Nine (9) years.

In Brazil, the teachers are on strike for two months which has now turned bloody.
Their cry; They want a salary raise and a good education sector that will compete with the Western schools.
--->
'We don't need the World Cup,' said Leonardo Fabri, a 19-year-old protester, at the time. 'We need education, we need better health services, a more humane police.'
culled from http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2449400/Brazil-protests-teachers-strike-sees-bombs-thrown-police.html

Everyone came out to honor and support their teachers so that their unborn children will have a good standard of education.

In Nigeria, when it is time for elections students and their parents collect money from politicians in exchange for their education and future.

NANS fighting ASUU; Parents ranting on ASUU; Students complaining. Ha! When your certificate cant get you a job in the western world unless you go through their education system, or wait for years to be legal.

Brazil's case should be an eye opener for all Nigerians, cos we all heard this News and yet, all we do is keep silent as if we've been cursed to suffer and silent, in the hands of democracy.

It is time everyone should make up their minds and support ASUU in their struggle to erase the shame in our education sector.

With all the money we get from all revenues, I think our education should be the best in Africa, our students should be the most productive in the world, and Nairaland as a site should have upgraded to an International standard erasing his old cloth of more than seven years.

PoliticsRe: Comparing Legacies - Obasanjo Vs Goodluck Jonathan by wetdspace(m): 6:55pm On Oct 08, 2013
I joined this site in believe there're highly intellectual ppl here I can learn from....but as I see it, '' hey I'm the first to post'' and still repeat itself.

Some will just put ...... (dots)Get 100 likes, some people still continue to do it.

And some were just slowpoke as if they have no iota of brain like a single pinch of salt.

Well back to the matter....

GEJ administration is of PDP which OBJ was formerly a president, it should then be a continuous thing, since he took over from yaradua, but as U can see, he his yet to achieve 4000 megawatts yaradua promised.

He refused to declare his assets as yaradua did.

He inflated the price of fuel against the wish of yaradua.

He turned the militants to a strong room of corruption.

He influenced and inflated corruption more.

He initially started to give more money to security when the bombings were not that rampant so you must know he has he a mission cos they must spend all the money allocated to security in the budget.

Now tell me, what has he achieved, his achievements should be a continuous process since they are in the same party.

So please don't compare death with sleep.

The greatest mistakes and regrets you will have in life is when you refuse to be sincere with yourself.
