If you don't know that the US states issue Identity cards alongside Driver's licenses, its either you have not been to the US or you do not know anyone here you can call to ask. If that is the case don't say anything about it.

Every state in the US issues state Ids along side driver licenses.

I have both of them on me right now. I think both are issued in case your license is suspended, and mostly because some people don't have licenses.
You are given 3 months to change them when you move to another state.

The states do not issue resident id's .
