Well, i do know that from leaving Enugu through New Market to 9th Mile is very very bad as of Easter 2012 when i was there. i dont know about beyond 9th Mile cos i turned off there heading to Nsukka.

Those roads are federal roads, and federal roads are generally bad in the East...

I c. Where is Zoological gardens located, not that my knowledge of Enugu is so good after such a long absence? Do they have a website?

By the way, does anyone have pictures of the new Golf resort estate or what its called?
I saw some parts of it on my way out of Enugu, via New Market. It looks like a wonderful place for a serene home.

Na so o. Just pictures of Lagos and Enugu, simply because i was born and bred in Lagos, but from Enugu (omo ibo ton jo fuji pelu Atilogwu, nice combo eh ) , so have family and friends mostly in those two states

Thanks for the pics and the effort you took in snapping them.

Maybe it's just me and the fact i'm something of a perfectionist, but i would advice the Governor to do a couple of things:

1) plant more trees by the road sides to give the city more of a lush green feel;

2) ban the pasting of posters willy-nilly as it defaces the city and itches my eyes just seeing them in pics ;

3) have at least two well maintained and manicured parks where families can go to to 'catch their fun' (that phrase makes me laugh anytime i hear it- it's so Nigerian );

4) maintain all street and traffic lights, immediately fixing any that gets damaged (i noticed some street lights were missing some parts, and i didn't see the traffic lights that were installed a few years back, though i hope those are still working as well). Taking care of little things like these are a pointer to tell if the bigger things in a city are managed well.

I also hope there's an adequate public water scheme, and that the intracity bus service is still working and maintained well.

The key word is MAINTAINANCE.

I think continuity and maintainance are two thing we fail in doing in naija.

Water is still an issue in Enugu, even in Independence Layout, power too, though i geuss that's a national issue.

Pic: One of such houses. Notice the local boy staring. Funny enough, the locals i spoke with were not Yoruba, they were Ghanaians! Was suprised. They spoke Awe language i believe its called. Disclaimer: I'm not saying the islanders were Ghanaians, just that they few i spoke with were Ghanaians.

Pic1: One Ikare Island. Lots of houses there, with private power and swimming pools. Would have loved to show the pools, but i'm sure you guys dont
want to see what my whole family looks like right?

Complementing the pics i took of Enugu, here i pics i took a few days later in Lagos.
It was a private boat ride from VI to Ikare Island.

Ikare Island is about 20-30mins from VI, and i learnt its somewhere off coast of Ojo

Biggyd2: Beautiful pictures. So how would you rate your governor. Many people from Imo state seem to like theirs. It would be good to celebrate any government that is working.

Well, i think the current governor is doing well by naija standard, but he's does not seem to make much publicity of what he's doing. Just my tots

I have Nikon 3000 with a 70-300mm lens. Basically a long range lens.

Yea, i guess i took multiple shots of same roads sometimes...

I was on a building site in Nsukka with a relative, the site is on a hill. Fantastic view!

I was suprised at how much Enugu had changed, considering i had my university education in that town in the 90's.
Enugu metropolis is looking good, but the federal roads are bad. I'm not sure i got pics of the bad parts though
