Nice pictures. I was in Enugu around easter 2012, and took lots of pictures, will open a thread for it an upload the pictures |
People, In Security/crime, there is something called MOM. For ever crime/fraud, MOM must exist. So, what is MOM ? M=Means O=Oppurtunity M=Motive Now, how does this apply to the issue at hand (fuel subsidy)? M- Means. An avenue for fuel markerters/importers to steal subsidy from government. The methods are well documented i.e cross border smuggling, fake documents, false bridging claims etc O- Oppurtunity. The incentive for crime/fraud is too high in Nigeria. I dont know if its ever going to reduce. If the oppurtunity to corruptly enrich yourself comes the way of an average Nigerian, he or she will take it, including those protesting just now! Motive- Do i need to explain the motive for all the above? To get super rich, a la Nigerian style. Solution: To reduce any crime/fraud, you have to reduce or remove the M/or O/or M or all of them or some of them. Removing the subsidy removes the oppurtunity for the fraud. However, the motive and maybe the means for other types of fraud existing e.g all the politicians stealing the gains from the subsidy removal. So, thats my take on the whole subsidy wahala. It has to go, but no one is sure if the savings realised will benefit anyone considering the antecedents of the government. Please don't flame me if you can have an intelligent, dispassionate discussion. |
Also, People should not think Nigeria is that backwards, I used to work in Network security below i left Nigeria, now i'm more a routing and swithing person, Anyway, i have friends in banks and telcos in Nigeria that very good Network security and pen test engineers, , Like i said its lots of work, experience and study |
@Poster, I don't think there is any reputable Computer forensic school in Nigeria. Most of the good schools are in the US, but the last time i checked it was around USD30k for a one year MSC in computer security and forensics. However, there are varoius options you have if you are interested in Computer forensics. 1. Get hands on experience in Network security, penetration testing and vunrability testing. This takes years to acquire, 2. In tandam, shoot for security specific certifications, GISSP, CCCIE security etc, Also takes lots of hard work. 3. Attend specific security related short courses 4. Self learn. Visit sites like http://sectools.org/. Buy books, use google and teach yourself. Hard work, and be careful you dont get into trouble breaking into people's network. Have fun! |
ehe, This post reminds me of two things my wife told me recently, My wife was with group of other married women recently at a child birthday, and the women were jisting (as usual na). One lady said she remember what she saw as a young child. She said she saw her uncle sucking her aunties boobs (na husband and wife na), so the young girl went and asked her mother "is uncle a baby, why is uncle sucking aunties boobs"? lol lol. True story o, she must have been below 5yrs then. Second jist was one that happended here in the UK. A young child saw her parents making out, and went an asked an aunty where were her parents behaving like animals? Moral of the story? You'll be suprised what memories this young children can keep and even carry with them from childhood to the end of their lives, |
@Andyanders, Chei, this your analysis strong o, but truth be told i think you are very correct about MOST white women, its all about me, myself, maybe the kids! The do not understand the extended family system we practise, which, to be fair to them, does not really exist anymore in the western world. Thats why you see the children also abandon the parents to live out their lives in old peoples home. I do not pray to grow old abroad, lai lai! So, young man, think long term, cos by the time all the hormones wear out, and reality sets in, it wont be all kiss, sex or novelty that will keep you guys together, but shared value system and committment to one another. Without those two, i can guarantee you that the marriage wont last. |
@Poster, Please go finish your studies, get a job and be financially independent before you start this settling down thing. Don't compare yourself to all the whitey whitey people here that can get support from the government (at least here in the UK) when they have kids, its not the best way to go, take it from me. Money is VERY important in marriage. Also, one's perspective changes with age, i think its best to give it a few more years and see what you think by then. If you ask me, i'd say give it 3 more years, and make a decision when you get to 25years. Please, please dont rush into anything o, in this life, there is no hurry at all, especially into marriage Just my 2 kobo |
^^^ Sex does indeed matter I agree, for any marriage to succeed. However, after all the "slutting" around, what do you do with yourselves abi do you have sex all day long? Lol. Do you ever spend any time communicating? |
@teslim, Will u still keep doing all those things by the time u r old and withered away? The way some people think they will live for ever and remain young for ever would have been so funny if it was not tragic, Keep living in the here and now OK, |
Na WA for some people o. So a man can not stay five years married without cheating on his wife? Thank God for Jesus o. I'm over 5yrs married an I've never and cant cheat on my spouse; people should stop all those nonsense excuses about men being naturally poliygamous, are men supposed to be dogs? Rubbish! @poster, Best bet is to make sure you have a safe delivery, give a few months after delivery and then reassess the situation. When pregnant is not the best time to take any major life decisions. |
@Freezy, Like your calm, Maybe we should ask OBJ, Atiku, IBB, Abubaker and all the rest to return all the stolen commonwealth. Then we can buy brand new trains for use all over the country. lol. Seroiusly, I think the guys investing in this project must have crunched the numbers before opting for the used trains, Lets give them the benefit of doubt |
^^^ Okey enjoy your sleep(walking) . No say we no tell you o, cause when u wake up e fit come be like say na dream you still dey, Case closed |
^^^Knock knock, wake up sleepwalker, |
Also, Go ask the people in Ikorodo or Okokomaik or badagry if they'll prefer a used train to no train at all, then you'll understand how people feel about this project, I remember spending hours on that Lagos badagry expressway, Fashole MUST succeed in this project o. I'm sure there will be an upgrade path for the trains, once they get to end of life. Its private sector driven remember? If it was solely government owned, then i'd be terribly worried. |
Also, I wonder how someone can compare the '67-'70 civil war to what is happening now. Very unperceptive, if you ask me. Eyin omo yoruba wake up o. |
@POintB, Very funny guy you must be. Are yoruba's more animist than the Bini's? Sleepwalking na bad thing i tell u. lol |
@Freezy. Best way to settle this is to get the cost of the refursbishd vs the new. Lets talk emperically here please. |
^^^ Correct talk beaf, sitting on the fence di kwa risky! |
@Ekt_bear. No, im not saying you should lynch people, infact im against such actions. All i'm saying is that its wise to prepare for war, while hoping for peace, |
Whoever is calling for war should send his first son to the battle line - Igbo proverb |
Thanks for the pricing, Lagos would be hard pressed to buy those new trains Refurbished is ok, as long as its well maintained. Come UK make i show you 500yrs old house still standing and people living in it, ![]() |
Anyone that thinks the SouthWest (Lagos especially) will not be pulled into any conflict in Nigeria is seriuosly mistaken, This the same way we kept saying Nigerian are not terrorist, till Mutallab came, then Boko, Na wa o for people wey dey sleep and waka at the same time, |
afam4ever, U dey fall my hand o. Chei, all those people you mentioned how has their times in and out of government impacted Nigerians the way Fashola is (positively) impacting the people of Lagos? Na wa o for your logic my guy. You guys should be busy saying rubbish about this rail project, the smart ones are already buying up properties in the areas that will be opened up once the blue and red line goes live. Smell the coffee people! |
