ZionJay:Na wa o, the issue is not the fact that Buhari is an illiterate. The issue is that he said he has a certificate and he can not now produce the said certificate. He should have told INEC and Nigerians the truth from day one. |
Nigerians are very funny, just quoting the Nigerian constitution without thinking things through. Let me lay it out clearly for some folks. 1. The issue is not about Buhari's apparent lack of having a secondary school certificate, the constitution did say "Any other thing" as accepted by INEC 2. Buhari had listed WASC as what he has that qualifies him to run for the presidency. If he had said "Experience based on military service, maybe INEC would have accepted it, based on the "Any other thing" criteria. 3. Now, when asked to produce the said WASC certificate, we start hearing all sorts of stories. The simple truth is that Buhari is in a very big fix. He HAS TO PRODUCE the said WASC certificate, as required by law, else it will mean he lied under oath. He can not now go back and fill in "Military service experience" . Buhari has been snared by his own words and writing. There is no way to spin this tale, though i'd want to see how APC will try. |
@mrmetoo1 The primary issue is that Buhari LIED on oath about possessing qualifications required to run for president of Nigeria. Its a legal requirement, its not about what we believe he can do if elected. You can not build illegality on illegality. I can guarantee you that his speech tomorrow will still not produce the required secondary school certificate. |
@barcanista, Please stop making a fool of yourself here... You are grasping at straws What we are seeing right now is how quota system has destroyed Nigeria and GMB is a beneficiary and product of this long running fraud. Vote APC at your own peril. All we have seen is #GMBrebrandinglies, no truth. |
drollster:Thanks for the feedback. Working on more tales, hopefully more interesting. |
Thanks for the feedback. It worked well on the phone and tablet i tested it on. Pls what sort of phone are you using if you do not mind? |
Hi everyone, I'm trying my hand at something new this 2015 on my blog apart from photography ![]() So, i did an audio recording of an African folktale. Please do have a listen. Its my first shot at stuff like this so i'm keen to get feedback Link is http://afrispheric.com/african-folktales-why-the-bat-flies-only-at-night/ |
abes:I agree with (1), but please pray how can (2) be true when Tambuwal announced his defection at the end of the session and promptly closed the HOR? His action foreclosed (2) in that session of the HOR I also agree with (3), but do you not agree that it would be a conflict of interest for him to preside over such a session if it had occurred ? Thank you for the civil discourse too, unlike some folks here that i will henceforth ignore ![]() |
abes:So, you would want Tambuwal to preside over a HOR discussion about his defection if he had tabled it at the beginning? Its very clear in law that you can not be Judge and Jury at the same time. Conflict of interest. It's really very simple.. |
abes:Thank you sir for that. Yes, in that respect, Tambuwal should/would not preside over such a session right? He can not be judge and jury over his own case. If Tambuwal was an honest man, with integrity, he would have tabled his defection at the begin of discussing in the HOR, stepped aside to allow his deputy to head that session and let the house decide, but he was not honest, lacked integrity and was selfish, like all the politicians we have in Nigeria... This is the result of his duplicity and PDP determination (and desperation) not to be used and dumped. |
Since folks have been too lazy to dig up stuff for themselves, here is the part of the Constitution of the FRN that pertains to the Tambuwal scenario Chapter V The Legislature Part I National Assembly 68. (1) A member of the Senate or of the House of Representatives shall vacate his seat in the House of which he is a member if - (a) he becomes a member of another legislative house. (b) any other circumstances arise that, if he were not a member of the Senate or the House of Representatives, would cause him to be disqualified for election as a member; (c) he ceases to be a citizen of Nigeria; (d) he becomes President, Vice-President, Governor, Deputy Governor or a Minister of the Government of the Federation or a Commissioner of the Government of a State or a Special Adviser. (e) save as otherwise prescribed by this Constitution, he becomes a member of a commission or other body established by this Constitution or by any other law. (f) without just cause he is absent from meetings of the House of which he is a member for a period amounting in the aggregate to more than one-third of the total number of days during which the House meets in any one year; (g) being a person whose election to the House was sponsored by a political party, he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period for which that House was elected; Provided that his membership of the latter political party is not as a result of a division in the political party of which he was previously a member or of a merger of two or more political parties or factions by one of which he was previously sponsored; or (h) the President of the Senate or, as the case may be, the Speaker of the House of Representatives receives a certificate under the hand of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission stating that the provisions of section 69 of this Constitution have been complied with in respect of the recall of that member. Now, the question is "Is PDP divided?" Remember that in the nPDP vs PDP scenario, a previous court ruling had ruled that PDP was not divided. Tambuwal's best bet would been to allow the court explicitly state his case (even though its clear from above) AND not try to preside over the HOR. He pushed his luck too far... For those that are interested below is the url for Constitution of the FRN http://www.nigeria-law.org/ConstitutionOfTheFederalRepublicOfNigeria.htm#QualificationForMembershipOfNatAss |
Larow:Are you saying this for real? 2/3 majority about what? 2/3 majority about what? 2/3 of the constituency that elected him in Sokoto? C'mon... Think about it some more... The simple truth is that Tambuwal is NO longer a member of the HOR, so the 2/3 thingy in the HOR does not even arise. You can not lead a group that you do not belong to... The courts are Tambuwal's only option to explicit state his standing, and he made a strategic mistake in withdrawing that court case... |
ShanghaiTLink:God bless you my bro/sis, This is how we should reason, but people are busy raining abuses... |
joeace2020:You are not reasoning like an adult, i asked two simple questions and none of you have been able to answer it. Call me what you may, it just exposes you for what and who you are. If you have facts, bring them up. Its really very simple... |
None of the folks screaming here has looked at what the law says about decamping, or about the powers of the Nigerian Police force people are just frothing at the mouth. I'm not interested in who we perceive to be right or wrong here, i am interested in what the law says 1. Is Tambuwal legally still a member of the HOR 2. Are the Police force allowed to tear gas members of the HOR? No one here has answered these two very simple questions, we are busying abusing APC and PDP... |
hugoart:C'mon man. The PDP constition? Please calm down... I am talking about the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended and what it says about decamping. I will not look it up for you, do some work yourself, its even here on NL... |
PrinceMario:NL and abusive people... Na wa o. Anyway, read up the constitution of Nigeria yourself. Its clearly stated there. Constitutionally, Tambuwal is NO longer a member of the House of reps! How can you lead an organization of which you are not a part of? Its very clear and simple. The only leg he can stand on is by asking the court to interprete that part of the Constitution. |
vedaxcool:No need to get insulting, i asked a simple question: The question i asked initially is what does the constitution say? Answer that question first sir |
otokx:What does the Constitution say again please? |
vedaxcool:You do not have to qoute and strike through my post. Just make your point. Let's show some maturity here... Any by the way, i am not in support of the police action. I am only interested in why the chief law maker would knowingly (try to bend) the Constitution and exploit mass hysteria to further his political aims... |
DonKool1:What does the Constitution say? Constitutionally, Tambuwal is NO longer a member of the House of reps talk less of being its speaker. It is very clearly stated. Does that mean the house of reps members should be tear gassed? No. All these problems are all avoidable, if politicians are not greedy, selfish and followed the rule of law. The import of the current situation is that House of reps will be in limbo till after February 14th, 2015, which seems to be lost on a lot of people here... www.afrispheric.com |
The biggest problem with NL is that people do not debate (with facts or logic), its all cursing and swearing driven by ethnicity, religion, and just plain uncouthness... We indeed deserve the leadership we get, NL just shows how we reason as people... Na wa o www.afrispheric.com |
@vedaxcool Please i don't do cursing. I happy to do a clean debate, devoid of emotions. I am neither pro APC or PDP, especially with the current crop of people at their helm. I want good leadership, simple Two questions we should ask ourselves are: 1. Is Tambuwal still a member of the HOR going by our Constitution? 2. Is the police allowed to shutdown the national assembly and tear gas members? In light of (1) and (2) 3. Should illegality be mounted upon illegality by both PDP and APC? www.afrispheric.com |
@All, You guys are all missing the point in this fracas... Tambuwal is trying to pull a fast one here, egged on by APC, knowing fully well that constitutionally, he is no longer a member of the House of Reps. Why do you think APC had the really yesterday? This is simply blackmail... Now, as to the tear gas and that stuff, i totally disagree with that. Jonathan is going for broke, and it can only get worse before it gets better. If you guys think Jonathan is daft, i feel VERY sorry for you, there are somethings that can not be shared on a public forum like NL... The bottom line is that after all the cursing and swearing here on NL, it is the average Nigerian that will suffer, because with the National assembly in chaos, it will be difficult to take any decisions to move the nation forward. We should all be crying because all these politicians, both APC and PDP are in it for themselves, not for any of us, not especially for all the internet warriors here on NL. We should be weeping as a country that in this day and age, the kind of folks were are fighting and campaigning for a people like GEJ, Buhari and Atiku? Have we no shame as a nation? Are these guys the best we can put forward? So so sad, we have a long long way to go as a people... |
@Bacanista, Right, since you have refused to refute the claims made by the Poster, then i believe you've conceded defeat. Now my personal opinion (not facts). 1. GEJ is not the best material to lead Nigeria, too indecisive and pandering to power blocks. 2. GMB is a confirmed fanatic, parochial, Islamist, with an ethnic agenda. No amount of whitewash will change that in the minds of a number of people. GMB's previous comments have nailed him. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. 3. Atiku: Confirmed thief and opportunist. Will sell Nigeria TOTALLY 4. Kwakwanso: Hypocrite. Smashing beer bottles in his state, yet collecting VAT from the sale of Alcohol down south Who else is running for president in Nigeria? It's not yet Uhuru in Nigeria, not yet Uhuru at all. In an ideal scenario, my top three candidates for Presidency in Nigeria (among the current set of politicians) are: 1. Fashola - if he can break Tinubu's over arching influence and be more people friendly 2. Oshiomole - plays his politics nicely and smartly, not like Ameachi 3. Lamido - Doing well with his state, not overtly Islamist or jihadist Nigeria has a long long way to go ... www.afrispheric.com |
I normally do NOT comment on politics section, but i must on this occassion.. @OP, Thank you very much for this rebuttal. Thank you for the facts, figures, politeness and clear mind so far. Please keep it up and ignore personal insults. Lets have matured debate for once on this platform @Baccanista, Please respond with facts and figures to dispute the data OP has supplied (and will be supplying). I am not interested in emotional outburst or name calling. We need facts and figures. Why am i asking YOU? You have been the one making all these GMB claims on NL, now you have been called out to back up those claims and you have FAILED BADLY. Please stay logical and calm. I am not interested in where or how Goodluck has failed, that is not the point of this thread. @ALL Any other poster can open a thread to dispute any figures or data that they feel the current Goodluck administration has lied and disprove it just like this OP is doing. That is how matured, sensible adults discuss, not name calling. Name calling and abuses show intellectual shallowness and concedes that the person is out of his/her depth intellectually. Lets leave that to the garage touts please... Let the debate continue! www.afrispheric.com |
